I don’t want to blame linksys but as long as I'm faster than the linksys software department the answer to your question will be YES. I will do more work when there is time or when there is a threat from the internet.
Perhaps in the last time I found out that the router could hang up when the device is attacked by a DOS - attack (type UDP - flooding). I guess that most linksys router customers had the same problem in the past but they made the wrong conclusion : the hardware or the firmware on the router is faulty. Doing nothing is simply inacceptable!

SAPGUI Disconnects with Vista VPN

I have the following problem, I'm using the saplogon 710 and build 1016365.
I'm connecting our server using Windows XP with Windows VPN every thing is fine and it rarely (if ever) disconnects.
However if I use Windows Vista with the same setup. After approximately 30 seconds of inactivity I get the following error.

I'm sure the problem is related to Vista VPN, I can connect fine with Windows XP but get the error with Vista using a dual boot computer. And I tried 3 different computers all experience the same problem with Vista

in internet I found this link which was a bit confusing to me to be honest but as understand there was a change of functionality in vista from XP I decided the give WinPcap application a try

After about 10 mins of inactivity testing I confirmed it was working. I'll update if the situation changes but so far it works like a charm.

Another vista vpn thread

Hi
Looking at Apples on info ipsec should work on XP and Vista when conecting to Leopard Server. Judging by this forum ipsec and windows is not fully functional.
I'm prepared to buy a proprietary client form windows machines provided that it can work with Leopard Server Vpn using ipsec.
If its true that Leopard Server Vpn does not work well with windows machines because Apple strayed from standards then I'd have to say I'm surprised and disappointed. It makes me wonder if my Xserve was a good buy. Hence I'm assuming i'm wrong here and hoping someone can set me straight.

WRVS4400N change VPN port

Hi,
I have a WRVS4400N VPV router and want to connect to it remotely via VPN.
The problem is that my internet-provider block almost all ports below 1000.
Can I change the port-number of VPN? If so, how?
I have a cable router that I configured so that WRVS4400N is DMZ. So all ports ar forwarded.

Hmm can't really find out how to set up an ssh server on my system, it's by the way an XP Pro system. I'll have to fight some more with openssh for windows to get it running. Hopefully I'll get a MacMini soon to set up as server for this kind of stuff.
But for now I actually want to get the vpn started over another port. Isn't there any way? searched the web for many hours but can't find a good working tool or setting.

Vista VPN Client TrueVector Device Driver Issue

I have an unresolved issue with the VPN Client v.5.0.01.0600 (Vista) on a Vista Home Premium System.
The client was successfully installed using admin privileges. But upon rebooting, the following error pops up:

This error occurs immediately upon user logon and just pops up every minute or so.
I haven't seen anything about this problem in the release notes. Does anyone know what could cause it or/and how it can be resolved?
PS: Some norton security software (don't remember which one) was installed on this system. But I have removed it prior to the cisco vpn client installation.

On Vista Beta2, the first time logs are enabled, Microsoft firewall would pop-up a dialog box to allow the IPSecLog process. To enable logging, please allow IPSecLog process. Log messages do not show up till the log file is touched.
In Vista Beta 2, the VPN Client is cannot detect that the VPN Client is already connected after user logs in. The workaround is Launch VPN Client. You will notice that the lock icon appears in taskbar.

WRVS4400N IPSec VPN Advanced Settings Found

v1.00.16 - O.K. This is weird. I have had no luck with getting the Advanced Settings Button to do anything until now. I simply got lucky. The Advanced Settings Button works only when accessing the router menus using https locally on the LAN. Basically, https://192.168.1.1 Then find the IPS VPN Tab and press the Advanced Settings Button and wala there it is. When accessing the router using http://192.168.1.1, the button does nothing. Weird to say the least. Even with this, all of the certificate management buttons and menus are still missing. Did anyone find the certificate management menus and buttons in an earlier firmware version than v1.00.16?
I dug a little further and found that the CGI under the http portion of the program simply does not call the advanced web page. To get around this, simply type in: http://192.168.1.1/vpn_adv.htm
the vpn_adv.htm file is the web page that is hidden by the CGI.
If anyone can find any of the certificate manage web pages, I bet they are on the WRVS4400N as well ... only missing from the top menus / CGI. If you find one, please send it to me.

I have this installed at a client site but refuse to mess with it as I finally got it working OK. it's still on firmware 1.00.15 I noticed .16 came out just about a week ago and I don't have a "spare" 4400N to test that on so I am leavign it all alone for now.
I do have some issues...mostly the VPN stuff, but like I said, I finally got it working so I'm not touching it.
Time to order another one and setup a dev environment......

WRVS4400N quickvpn Vpn client accounts

                   Hello everyone, i'm new to cisco forum and i salute you all.
     Now lets get to business...hahaha
     Well i configured client account on the wrvs4400n v2 to use with quickvpn.
     3 of the 5 users created works fine when connecting to router but the other ones doesnt connect good.
     They all got the same client .pem install in Quickvpn.
     Let's say i try connecting with user num.2 with quickvpn it doesnt want to connect, it says connecting, for long time but noting happens.
     But when i look in VPN Summary on router it shows as connected?
         Any clue on whats going on?

Yes i did try it on different PC. I can connect with no issue with my account on both PC with the same config. But not with user 2 and user 3. There is one error message about certificat, but if you click 'no' it will connect anyway, it works for the 3 users but not with the other 2's.
And yes i did uninstalled quickvpn twice (clean uninstalled). And no change, still can not connect with user 2 and 3. I have deleted user 2 and 3 and created different user with different password and still the same.
But if i look in vpn summary it shows user 2 as connected. But the quickvpn still showing ' connecting ' and it give me nothing.
Does someone knows how is this possible? Do you need Logs.
I notice that when establishing connection with my user the wget.exe make the connection and disconnect after connection is made.
But the 2 other users the connection establishes with wget.exe but it doesnt close connection. It stays connected until i close it my self.
Dont know if it could help.

WRVS4400N as VPN Client?

Hello Cisco Support.
I have a Cisco WRVS4400N Small Busniess router standing - I rent a VPN connection with BeeVPN where I am taking advantage of the Cisco AnyConnect to connect to my VPN at BeeVPN. But instead of using AnyConnect, will I hear if it is possible to setup my router as a VPN client? So i don't need to run AnyConnect on my computer every time i start it up.

Wrvs4400n IPsev VPN interface

I have had no problems setting up other features of the wrvs4400n, even though it does dumb things like display the actual passwords for VPN Client Accounts in clear text, but when trying to configure the IPsec VPN portion of the wrvs4400n I keep getting strange -if not buggy- behavior as I try to adjust the settings.
Has anyone else run across any of these??
1) On the main IPsec VPN screen under "Key Management", I set PFS to "Enable", but PFS keeps setting itself back to "Disable" whenever I save settings.
2) Likewise the "Pre-Shared key" and "Key Life Time" keep reseting to blank and 0 respectively after saving settings. I get a warning that they are not set unless I reenter them so they are not being set and not displayed.
3) The "Advanced VPN Tunnel Setup" window which one must go to if one sets the "Remote Security Gateway Type" to "Any" in order to change "Local Identity" to "Name" (as instructed by another warning) does not seem to want to save ANY configuration information. So one can not change "Local Identity" to "Name", nor "Authentication", "Group" etc. and have them set when it opens again.
I notice that "PFS" is Always set to "Disable" in the "Advanced VPN Tunnel Setup" window, and I guess this is because it is not getting set in the main "IPsec VPN" window.
I notice also that I have to enable pop-ups in my browser for the "Advanced VPN Tunnel Setup" window to appear, even though this is not necessary for other windows like the logs, or help.
I'm using the latest firmware v1.00.13 and have tried setting IPsec up using Firefox and Safari, on windows, and Mac with the same result. Any ideas??

It could have either been a problem flashing the firmware the first time or some bad behavior because of the pop-up window getting blocked and somehow messing with the internal config, but after I re-flashed and reset the router to defaults I've had no problems... Thanks!!

WRVS4400N w/VPN - Logging websites visited with IP addresses or usernames?

I just recently added this new router to my network, it does much better than our old one (a motorola modem/router)
I want to see the websites and web activity performed by my employees with this network. I was told that it was available and before i did the firmware upgrade, i thought i was able to (under VPN log) anyways I am a n00b with this, can anyone help me understand how to view activity logs. (I can view ACL, but not VPN or system)

I'm confused, though. I thought that's what the access-list 190 does. Are you saying I need a second ip route statement? Or, am I missing an access list item that allows that traffic back out from the LAN to the vpn users?
In a nutshell, I'm not sure how to implement your suggestion. If possible, could you give me an example?

WRVS4400N v2 VPN trouble

I followed the document QVPN Alternate for Mac on my Moutain Lion OSX.

I set up the IPSecuritas and my WRVS4400N as instructed and everything seems to work well after clicking Start IPSec.
It is reported that the status is connected but the Reliability shows zero.
I receive no packets from the IPSec Tunnel.
Please tell me the possible problems.

Cisco VPN Client after Windows Vista Update (KB941229)

I had the Cisco VPN client 5 installed on my laptop and configured by the IT department at work. It was working fine all day until I restarted and KB941229 was automatically installed. When it turned back on the Cisco VPN service (CVPND) would attempt to run then stop. If I started it manually it would run for about a minute then stop again. Without the service running the VPN client won't open, let alone let me connect.
I know this vista update is fairly recent so I'm not sure there will be a fix but maybe somebody can think of a workaround or some way to fix this situation.
Things I've tried:
1) Uninstalling the windows update
2) restarting
3) restarting (in denial that this was happening)
4) configuring a vista VPN connection to attempt to connect to the company VPN (this failed too)
Uninstalling the update caused me to be unable to ping for some reason. This meant the VPN client would run but be unable to connect to the server and yet I was entirely able to access the internet locally. I reinstalled the update assuming maybe the installation went badly but that caused the same problem with the VPN service stopping itself (or being stopped) after a minute.

there is a service called Base Filtering Services running in background for Vista and has to disabled to make IP Sec VPN Client working.
after doing so it works smoothly.

Vista and VPN Client Troubles

Hello. We are evaluating Windows Vista along with the VPN Client version 5.0.01.0600. Many of our VPN users are reporting that they are experiencing problems connecting VPN to the ASA 5520 firewall. We are experiencing the same problems with error such as "Reason 418: Unable to configure the firewall software." Also in the client's log we see:

Invalid concentrator firewall configuration.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem and is there a workaround? Thanks in advance.

Fyi - I ended up opening up a TAC case for this (SR 606571713) and received the following information from the engineer:
"Either disable the firewall check on for that group on the VPN appliance or clear a custom DLL check looking for the Microsoft Firewall DLLS or use an alternative Firewall that is supported on Vista and by the VPN appliance.
CPP pushes will not work for any other Firewalls other then ZoneLabs, if or when ZoneLabs releases ZoneAlarm for Vista customers can install this to get CPP support.
