WRVS4400nv2 - SNET Static IP Configuration

I plan to deploy a number of routers here in Connecticut. The SNET, now part of AT&T allocates 5 static IP's. Actually 8 but only 5 are vailalbe to the user.
I can provide the topology and descrptiion. We've tried to make the 4400 work but to no avail.  I hope someone here has experience with this topology and how to route the 5 IP's onto local LAN's with the 4400 or 4000.
Any direction will be greatly appreciated.
Mike

Mike,
I understand what you are trying to do
The RVS4000/WRVS4400N are not going to be able to do what you need it to do.
I would look at the RV042, RV082 or the SA520/540 routers, they have the ability to 1 to 1 NAT the public IP to an internal IP address.
Example would be 97.65.143.1 to 97.65.143.4 are your routable IP's
with .1 going to the router 192.168.1.1
     .2 going to a web server 192.168.1.2
and so on
I hope this answers your question

  • DACL with static IP configuration

    Hi,
I want to restrict client communication based on dACLs for some Endpoint-Groups with MAB. Most of the clients are configured with DHCP, for these clients everything working fine. But there are also clients with static IP configuration and here is the problem. ISE does not know the ip address of the static configured client, so the 'source any' statement of the dACL can not be replaced with the client IP.
How is it possible to let ISE learn the static addresses and get this working?
ISE is on v1.2, IOS on switch is on 15.02.SE1
    Thanks, Florian

I am not very much sure but can you try this and check (instead of any any just giving your network address)

  • Cisco Touch loses static IP configuration

I have a Cisco Touch that keeps losing the static IP configuration randomly and then displays a message to configure the manual IP settings, once this is done the system connects with the SX20 no problem.
    This happens once a day.

What version of software are you running on the SX20?  There were some improvements with regards to Static IP addresses and the Touch in one of the more recent version (TC7.1.0 from memory) - the latest being TC7.2.0.
If you have an active service contract on your device you should be able to download the updated software from the Cisco web site.
If you don't have a service contract, contact the TAC, and reference one of the recent security advisories (ie http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20140605-openssl) to get a "free" upgrade to TC7.x as per the "customers without service contracts" section.

  • Static Crypto configuration

    Hi All,
I ahve a requirement to configure static crypto for 1800 site and I need to configure on two sepaarte interfacs at spoke site which means I need to configure 1800*2 = 3600 peers at central site. The challenge I have is due to load balancing , the traffic dynamic crypto can not be used since traffic may be initiated from Dc on other link which may get dropped incase not encrypted.
Looking form some simplar way to configure this.
    Experts need your help.
    Regards,
    Bhavesh

I see, is this crypto map solution already implemented?  I cannot determine which network design would be the best for you, since I am not familiar with all your internal policies and requirements, but I can suggest.
Usually, I encourage people to use VTI or DMVPN since they are more scalable and easier to maintain than LAN-to-LAN tunnels with huge ACLs.
    My idea is this:
             Tunnel1                Tunnel1
           |-------------|              |-----------|
    Hub |                Internet             | Spoke
           |-------------|              |-----------|
            Tunnel2                 Tunnel2
An IGP running across the tunnel interfaces (VTI) will make the routing decision for you, according to how you tune it up.
    For instance:
You could use EIGRP to load-balance (equal cost at this point since you only have two links) the traffic:
    EIGRP load-balancing
So the Router will keep both IPsec tunnels up and traffic will flow across the Tunnel interfaces following the EIGRP routing conditions.
On the other hand, if you want to go with the crypto map condition, I would still suggest GRE/IPsec and do the same thing, but lets say that GRE will not be used.
Without any kind of Routing protocol, load-balancing will not be achieved at all, you can still have two routes pointing to two next-hops to reach the same destination network, but this is not recommended and may not behave as expected.
    Summary:
In order to load balance traffic across two tunnels, I suggest:
    1- DMVPN
    2- VTI
    3- GRE/IPsec
    In conjuction with an IGP.

  • Static nat configuration help

    Hi,
I have the following setup that i am tasked with creating static nat for and i am a little lost with getting the correct nat working.
    Here is the setup:
    Internal servers behind firewall 192.168.1.0/24
    Firewall external interface is 192.168.5.36
Firewall external interface is connected to inside gig0/0 interface on cisco router.
cisco router currently, it has a sub interface g0/0.5 with ip 192.168.5.41.
on the outside cisco interface, serial1/0 is an ip, 10.1.2.3.
Beyond serial1/0 are multiple remote hosts, such as...
    10.8.10.5
    10.20.10.16
    10.20.12.12
these are remotely managed by another company.
Now, for the static nat, we want to do the following:
    translate 192.168.5.66 -> 10.8.10.5
    translate 192.168.5.67 -> 10.20.10.16
    translate 192.168.5.68 -> 10.20.12.12
Internal hosts behind the firewall would communicate via 192.168.5.66, 67 or 68, and the cisco router would translate these to appropriate addresses.
Note that 192.168.5.66,67,68 don't exist as yet, my understanding (which is possibly wrong) is that once nat is correctly setup they will just work and the cisco router will do the translations.
I've tried some different scenarios with ip nat inside, ip nat outside and nvi (Cisco IOS is 12.4(11)XW3) but am failing to get proper translation happening.
Most examples i've seen involve the internal "to be translated" address actually being an internal server, not something that gets configured on the cisco router by a nat translation.
    Is this possible?
or have i got it completely wrong? i.e .should the addresses 192.168.5.66,67,68 be configured somewhere?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Les

    Michael,
Thanks for your reply, i had seen that doc before, but it wasn't enough to get things working for me. Most of the examples i have seen were similar to this, and involved nat where an internal host address was being nat'ed. In my case, the address to nat didn't exist on an internal host and to translate correctly i needed to define both and inside source static and an identical outside source static entry. I also had to change which interface was outside and inside.
    i.e.
    int g0/0.5
    ip nat outside
    int serial1/0
    ip nat inside
ip nat inside source static 10.8.10.5 192.168.5.66
ip nat outside source static 10.8.10.5 192.168.5.66
with that config my translation table looked like...
    #sh ip nat tra
Pro Inside global      Inside local       Outside local      Outside global
    ---   ---                           ---                        192.168.5.66     10.8.10.5
    --- 192.168.5.66     10.8.10.5        ---                         ---
And debug ip nat detailed showed correct translations happening:
    # ping from 192.168.5.36
    Sep  4 06:18:07.807: NAT*: o: icmp (192.168.5.36, 8494) -> (192.168.5.66, 8494) [43]
    Sep  4 06:18:07.807: NAT*: o: icmp (192.168.5.36, 8494) -> (192.168.5.66, 8494) [43]
    Sep  4 06:18:07.807: NAT*: s=192.168.5.36, d=192.168.5.66->10.8.10.5 [43]
if i had only an inside source static address then the translations never happened.
So i have a working config now.

  • OEL 4 on VMware Static IP configuration.

    Hi
I am trying to install OEL4 as a guest OS on VMware workstation 5 host OS is Vista.
My problem is that i cant use DHCP. Sometimes my laptop is connected to Internet some times not. Now i want to access my Virtual machine from Host Os using Putty. For that i need a static IP address. Please suggest what should be the DNS , Gateway and IP Address .
    Thanks in Advance

you have three options in vmware network:
    - bridged networking
    - host only
    - nat
If you want to access Internet or lan network host, from your guest host, you must to use bridged networking o NAT.
If you use bridged networking, you must to user the same network configuration of your host. If use NAT, you can use DHCP to get the configuration from vmware-dhcp server.
You can use host only, if you dont need access to lan-host-network (but you can access from your host using putty). In that case, you can use DHCP to get the configuration from vmware-dhcp server.
Your DNS settings, must be the same DNS that you use in your host (in case you use bridget networking o nat).
Gateway must be the same gateway you user in your host (in case you user bridget network). If you use nat, gateway is provided by vmware-dhcp server.
If you user host-only, you dont need gateway.

  • Serve up Static Content - configuration?

    Hello!
How can I configure WEB AS to serve up static files from an external folder? Is there a configuration in WEB AS to map a context to an external folder with static files?
    Thanks
    /Ray

    Hi Ray,
Eddy's reply refers to setting the option on the ICM. In case you don't use the ICM, but just the Web AS Java, you can do that using the HTTP Provide Service. You can either create a virtual host (this is the term on Web AS Java for virtual directory ) and set your external directory with static content as its root directory. You can refer to the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0b/fbf5a47928f84e8d0beba8371508e6/frameset.htm">documentation</a> for details about the configuration procedure.

  • DHCP static maps configuration using serveradmin (terminal / commandline)

    Hi there,
I'm having much trouble using serveradmin to create new static map entries. Unfortunately using the serveradmin-tools gui isn't an option, because setting up DHCP static maps are only one small part of a much bigger script.
I tried to manually execute every line. I've also tried the example from the command line manual, but everything without success.
I would be very glad, if someone could help me solving this problem.
So here is the the output of my script...
every executed line leads to a

  • Static RP Configuration PIM vs Candidate RP election

    Hi Team,
i have static RP for a group range (225.0.0.0 to 255.0.0.0) and i have configured dynamic RP (bootstrap mechanism) for the same group range.
which one will be elected as RP-SET.
    please share your views.
    thanks a lot in advance.
    regards,
    Rajesh kumar V

    Rajesh
Static RP can co-exist with dynamic RP mechanisms (ie: Auto-RP). Dynamically learned RP takes precedence over manually configured RPs. If a router receives Auto-RP information for a multicast group that has manually configured RP information, then the Auto-RP information will be used.

  • Android Phone: DHCP request although static IP configured

I face a strange behavior while connecting to WiFi with my Android phone.
When I configure the WiFi settings to use a static IP at home with a  Speedport router from Telekom everything works fine. I get a connection  imediately. (Security credentials are WPA2-PSK/AES).
But when I try to connect to a Cisco environment (1142 access points  with 5508 controller with the same security credentials as at home)  after PSK authentication the phone start with DHCP requests instead of  using the configured static IP and I don't get a connection.
First I thought it was of the Android ROM or the device but I tried different  ROMs (stocks and customs) and different devices (Defy and Galaxy S).  Everytime the same thing.
A laptop or an iPhone can connect without any problem using a static IP.
It seems that the controller or AP sends something to the phone telling it to ignore the static IP settings...
    Strange!!!

When you set static IP information on an adapter that disables DHCP for that adapter. It no longer communicates with the DHCP server. The only thing that can go wrong at this point is the IP information you are specifying on the adapter is misconfigured. Don't forget that in static ip config you need to also specify DNS servers.
The DHCP server may or may not detect the static IP on the network depending on the DHCP Server software.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Scope of check( avail.check) remains static altough configuration changed

    Here is the issue,
After running the availability check on the sales order I saved it.But due to some requirements I needed to make some changes in the availability like remove sales requirements check(configuration).
Now I comeback to the saved order and I observe the scope of check remains the same altough I have changed it as I mentioned earlier.
How can this issue be resolved???????????

You need to delete the line item, then save the sales order. Then try to re-enter the line item in the sales order and check.

  • Netctl will not start my static IP network configuration

    Hi,
I've never been able to set up a simple static IP configuration for my wired network adapter. Now I need to in order to reset a router I have at home. I use (only) netctl profiles to manage my wireless and wired network connections. I've Googled for solutions to my problem, and the most common solution (disable dhcpcd) does not apply to me, since dhcpcd is not running when I try to enable my static IP profile. Can you guys see what I am doing wrong?

There is no link. Bring the link up manually and check status with
    ip link set up enp1s0
    ip link enp1s0
If the link fails to come up (state other than "UP") it is likely a driver issue. If the link comes up (state UP) but status has "NO-CARRIER" it is likely a hardware issue, either one of the endpoints or the cable. First thing I would try in this case is a different cable.
You can tell netctl to bring the interface up anyway with the option in /etc/netctl/wired-static
    SkipNoCarrier=yes
However, the interface will not work until the link is fixed.
