  • Block Apple TV from accessing internet?

is there any way to disable internet access to my apple tv that is connected via ethernet yet still have it be able to access my network?
    i have a 1 gen 500gb time capsule.

I understood your question to be +"is there any way to disable internet access to my apple tv that is connected via ethernet yet still have it be able to access my network?"+
My answer was "there is not a (TC) setting to allow access to the local network while blocking access to the internet."
Since that setting does not exist, I offered the software as a possible option which could be installed on a computer to serve as monitor for the system. I know of no other options to accomplish what you want to do, but if they exist, I certainly hope that other users will come forth with additional information.

    Solved!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
You can block in one of two ways:
    1) You call block select types of text traffic. Go to OPTIONS/SECURITY/FIREWALL.
You can select the type of message traffic to block. This will however block all incoming messages for that
category. Example if you block SMS traffic, SMS messages from everybody will be blocked
    2) You can call the carrier and have the number blocked as spam. Depending on the amount of messages,
you may be able to get the carrier to remove the texts from your bill.
2a) If you use AT&T as a carrier you can block and control messages from the link below. I do not know
if other carriers offer this service.

  • How can I block a url from accessing my browser?

I want to block a url from accessing my browser. The url in question, djbsaqja.co.cc, flashed a pop-up saying that my computer was infected with a dangerous virus and that "Windows Security" required that I download a program to fix it.
I maintain realtime virus protection, but ran a manual scan anyway, which proved that I was clean.
The url listed above would not let me out of an unending chain of popups, demanding that I download their tool.
Instead, I opened a new Firefox session (it was the only way I could re-enter Firefox without this rogue url taking control), then cleared out my history, cache and cookies.
I'm clean...and now I'm back in control with, I believe, no damage. But since I wrote down the url, is there a way that I can block from accessing my browser again?
    Thanks for the help.

You can add it to your hosts file - http://allthingsmarked.com/2006/08/28/howto-block-websites-using-the-hosts-file
Sites like that pop up on a regular basis, but will often get taken down quite quickly. I have just checked and the site appears to have been taken down.

  • Static PAT entry blocking Branch site from accessing resource on same port. How to get around this?

Hello, I have a UC560 and UC540 connected using an IPSec Site to Site tunnel.
There is a server on the main site they are trying to access (lets say IP is 192.168.1.252) and they need to access this server on ports 13000, 14000, and 15000.
Unfortunately, since there are users from the internet and other places that need to access this server on these ports, these static pat entries are in the server (Lets say 99.99.99.99 is the WAN IP):
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.252 13000 99.99.99.99 13000 extendable
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.252 14000 99.99.99.99 14000 extendable
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.252 15000 99.99.99.99 15000 extendable
The users in the branch site that is connected via VPN can reach this server on all TCP ports(RDP, http, etc) so that's not the issue. When I remove these nat statements, the VPN users can access the resource via that port (I.e telnet 192.168.1.252 13000 ) whereas they are shut down and connection fails if the static pat entries are in there.
I need to have outside users and VPN users be able to access this server whether they are coming in across the VPN goin to 192.168.1.252:13000 or coming in from the internet on 99.99.99.99:13000
Is there a way around this other than forcing the VPN users to access this server via the WAN IP for these ports? And does anyone know the logic behind this? I'm curious. From what I've seen in other cases, this is expected behavior, I'd just like a better understanding of it.
Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you

I hope I explained this properly. If not, please let me know!
    Thanks

  • How do I block a computer from accessing connection via wireless router?

This is my first linksys router.  My previous one had an option that i could choose to block a specific computer from accessing my wireless connection.  I cannot find an option like that with my linksys router.  I have to leave the connection open becuase of issues with other computers in the household not being able to connect with security being used.  Thanks!

what is the model number of your router?
if the wireless security wont work try to use the mac filter.you have to get the mac address of your computers in the house and you have to input it in the mac filter window on the set up page of your router.

  • Safari permanently disallow web application from access location data

I have a web application that access user's location using the latest Safari's geolocation API. I have accidentially click "don't allow" when asked if it should be allowed to use location service. This seems to ban the web site permanently. I cannot find any way to reset this.
I have tried General Setting > Reset > Rest Location Warnings. After this when I return, Safari ask:
Safari would like to use your location?
    [Don't Allow] [ok]
This seems to apply to Safari as a whole. For example google can access my location. But my particularly application is still banned. I also tried to clear history/cache/cookie. It still does not do it. It seems Safari is keep a blacklist in some place that is not resettable.

    DaVBMan wrote:
I have always noticed that web pages (Safari) would never remember a site, only apps did.
But with that said, there is a place in settings to Reset Location Warnings. However this will reset every location warning (so all apps will ask you again).
How do you know it is accessing your location? As I mentioned, any page I ever hit that wanted to, always keeps asking.
Ah, I didn't know to look in Reset in Settings. I was just looking in the Safari section. Selecting that did indeed make Safari prompt me again.
I know it is accessing my location because the page has a visual indication of when it has successfully read the location.
    Nathan C wrote:
In addition to reseting locations services as previously suggested, it is
possible for web pages to guess your location based on other information. For
example whenever you access a webpage that includes your IP address. The IP
address is often assigned a reverse lookup by whomever is providing the data
connection. That reverse lookup may include location information such as city,
    state, country, etc.
In this case, I wrote the page, so I know that it is attempting to access the location. I wanted to test the page again without location access being enabled.

  • How to block an app from using internet both wifi and cellular

    Hi,
I want to stop an app from using internet ( neother cellular data nor data from WiFi).
Uninstalling the app is not a solution.
Is there a way to get this done ?
    Please help.
    Would be much appreciated.
    Anc

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I just woke up. Let me start again.
Open iTunes with your phone connected to the computer. Now, click on Apps in the iTunes sidebar. This displays all the apps you currently own. Locate the one you don't want. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on it and select Delete from the context menu. Go down to the Devices section in the iTunes sidebar. Select your phone and sync it. The app should be removed from your phone and the listing of apps under the phones Apps tab in iTunes.

  • How do I remove INBOX? It is preventing me from accessing Internet Explorer

I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS SITE. SOMEHOW MOZILLA FIREFOX INSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER AND IT HAS BEEN DISASTER EVER SINCE. SOMETHING CALLED "INBOX" INSTALLED WITH YOUR PROGRAM, AND I DO NOT WANT THAT EITHER. WHENEVER I ATTEMPT TO ACCESS INTERNET EXPLORER THIS "INBOX" POPS UP INSTEAD. HOW DO I GET RID OF "INBOX" COMPLETELY AND HOW DO I GET INTERNET EXPLORER BACK? THE GEEK SQUAD WILL UNINSTALL IT FOR A HIGH PRICE BUT SINCE I DID NOT ORDER IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, I WOULD LIKE IT REMOVED ASAP. I HAVE REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO MICROSOFT.

"Inbox.com" suddenly appeared out of nowhere on my wife's new Dell (Windows 7) desktop whenever accessing Firefox. Nothing has been recently loaded. Spyware & virus scans find nothing. "Inbox" does not show up on my programs, so deleting this way is impossible. Searching for it on the computer finds nothing. It appears it is being piggybacked on Firefox, because Firefox comes up and continues to be listed "under" the Inbox page, which is shown immediately after Firefox is selected.
During this same time, this desktop has started locking up several times a day... sometimes requiring 2 or 3 restarts in a row to get it to function.
If Firefox has an answer to this, I haven't been able to find it! I will delete Firefox and check back in a few weeks to see if it's been fixed. Frustrating to say the least. (As usual, Microsoft is of no help).

  • How to access INTRANET mobile applications from a cell phone

    Hi,
I have installed 9iAS rel 2 on two HPUX boxes (2 tiers installation) and I have followed the quickstart section of the 9iAS wireless - Get Started and System Guide, to test the wireless functionality. Most of the functions are working fine except the SMS and we are still working on the (out of the box) SMS function and try to fix it. Anyway, the next step is to access the out-of-the-box functionality in reality. The 9iAS installation is sitting in our intranet and would like to know what steps we need to do in order to access our intranet wireless application? I know we need a dial up line to access our intranet and a WAP gateway. Our unix admin is in the process of installing the WAP gateway. Once he finish setting up the gateway, what is the next step to access the intranet wireless application using the cell phone?
    Your comments are highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Derek

The way I did it was install the WAPLite gateway and then set up my mobile phone to use PPP access to get behind my firewall. I had to set the IP of my WAP gateway in the mobile phone settings too.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi toke_lahti
    Thank you for posting!
General packet radio service (GPRS) is a network service that allows mobile phones to send and receive data over an internet protocol (IP)-based network.
To define how to use the service, select Menu > Settings > Connectivity >Packet data > Packet data conn. > Select When needed.

  • Only IE is able to access the internet; no other applications can access internet

I recently upgraded my original Hitachi 160GB hard drive on my Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 to a WD 320GB hard drive, and cloned my original hard drive image to the new hard drive using Acronis True Image WD Edition's Disc Cloning utility. I had the utility resize the original partitions proportionally. Everything else seems to have transferred correctly to my new hard drive, but I find that ONLY Internet Explorer is able to access the internet, although I can ping my network printer, the other computers on my home wireless network, and even other IP addresses on the internet such as www.google.com, etc.
I had removed my previous ZoneAlarm Free Firewall before doing the hard drive upgrade; it appears to have been conflicting with my Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird applications, causing them to hang up and then not close down properly. I am currently using only the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender, along with AVG 9.0.814 Free Antivirus, SpyBot S&D 1.6.2.0 and Spywareblaster 4.3. I also used to use AdAware Free Edition, but had to uninstall it as I have not been able to update it to the newest version successfully.
Is there something in the Windows Vista Home Premium OS I have on my machine that might be causing this problem? It is funny that ONLY Internet Explorer is able to access the internet now.

Yes I do, and even with them checked to allow access (i.e., as an exception), it does not help.  I have tried all of the MS help about the problem, but they refer me to my machine's manufacturer for support, since my copy of Windows Vista came with it.  I cannot even use my DVD NeXtCopy software, as it requires access to the internet too, and even after re-installing it, I cannot activate the new installation because it cannot access the activation server!
I hope someone can help me.  Upgrading to this new hard drive should not be so disastrous!
Regards and thanks for trying to help!
