Hi,
Are you setting the output to be sourcing or sinking? Are you setting the corresponding circuit outside?

Microseconds delay to control digital outputs in WSN-3202

Hi,
I’m using the LabVIEW WSN Module to control the digital outputs of the WSN-3202 node. Is there a way to add a microseconds delay in my flat sequence structure? Because I’m using a pulse driven optical sensor which requires delays intervals in microseconds.

Hi Ahmed,
The availability of a microsecond resolution for timing depends on the onboard clocks or setup that the system allows. These nodes are often used to control/acquire in a non-continuous way to save battery. Therefore, they are required to wake/sleep in cycles that take a couple of minutes generally. What are you exactly trying to do with the node?

Using outputs in WSN-3202

I have a doubt. You are aware that the sensor WSN-3202 has 4 analog inputs and4 digital outputs, a doubt arises in respect of this sensor outputs.
For example, for connecting a LED (6V) to one of the outputs of the sensor, I have to do?

Using 4-20ma Sensor on NI WSN-3202

I have a vibration switch http://ifmefector.com/ifmus/web/dsfs!VKV021.html that I am trying to get to work in my wireless sensor network. NI only offers a voltage input node (NI WSN-3202), but the sensor is only available in 4-20ma output. The analog output is only 1 wire.
Is there a way to convert that signal to use voltage and have the WSN read it accordingly?

Put a precision resistor in the loop and read the voltage across the resistor. For a 5VDC voltage input, use a 250 ohm resistor.

WSN 3202: increase sensor power delay before reading?

On an NI WSN-3202, Is there any way to increase the time between activation of sensor power and the time an analog reading is taken? I presently have the devices set for 250ms, but I would like to have the power turned on a good 2-3 seconds before a reading is taken. Is there any way to facilitate this, perhaps through a custom firmware update?

Thank you for the reply.
I use a wsn-3226. There seems that there is no option to send data with radio message.
Here a print screen of my sequence, it is fairly simple, I don't understand why it's getting stuck in always on power.
I also tried to change the power setting with a user message and it worked. But it is unpracticable, I really need that to work. I use sensor that need to be power up at least 2 sec before sampling.

Communication entre NI WSN-3212 & NI WSN-3202 without the NI WSN-9791

Hello,
My final year project is about programming the WSN nodes to communicate with eachother independently without the gateway. Can this be done using a Labview application ? Do you have some helpful examples ? I'm having difficulties with finding the required functions in Labview directories.

the nodes I m working with are configured to communicate through the gateway. What I m supposed to do here, is to change the topology in purpose to send data from the first node directly to the second node which will send the received data to the gateway.
based on the fact that the nodes and the gateway are programmable, I m looking for the communication algorithm and the firmware of this network so I can change it to be adapted with my objectif, but I couldn't get to it.
is it the right step to take?

i have wsn kit with 9791 gateway, i need to program node 3202 to write a digital output, i want to know how can i do this in labview ?
do i have to write program ? what library in labview should i chose ? is it using FPGA module in labview ? i really spent alot of time searching for this answer and i am new in labview program

Hi,
In order to use the WSN-3202 with Gateway-9791, you have to install LabVIEW and NI-WSN driver.
You can find the software version support for your WSN at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/12734#toc0.
After you have install the software, you can configure your WSN using Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and add WSN node to the gateway, it might not looks exactly the same in the picture below because I am not using 9791 as the gateway.
Next, you can open an empty project or your existing object and add your gateway into your project.
After you add the gateway and your node into the project, you can access the DIO at WSN-3202 through the share variable node. You can just drag the DIO from the project explorer into your vi.

No data output field in DAQ Assistant

I am currently trying to read temperature from my NI WSN 3202. I have a thermistor connected to AI0 and AIGND. I am following a tutorial to convert from volts to degrees F and everything has been working so far.
Once I reach the step for DAQ that is when I have issues. I've created a simulated device (following another tutorial). When I configure everything for DAQ, there is no data field so that I can wire it to my indicator and then to the formula block. Can anyone assist me with this problem?

I would do as the error message tells you, reinstall DAQmx.

WSN Channel Scan

Hello-
I am currently building an application using the following NI products:
-WSN 3202/3212's - Non Programmable
-WSN 9791 - Non Programmable
-Labview 2011 SP1
-WSN 1.4
The application involves ~53 Nodes and 2 gateways. So far I have a pretty good handle on how to get the information from the Project into the VI's but I am trying to figure out a way to do this programatically. 53 Nodes amounts to 212 channels of just data not including keeping track of battery states and connection quality.
I ideally I would like to scan through the list of channels and their respective values either in the project or in MAX. I am just not sure where to start or if it is even possible.

Sensor Power

Hi,
Just a note. I'm using the sensor power output on the WSN 3202 node. I have found that when I deploy a VI to the programmable node, the power sensor out turns off unless I am reading an Analog Input. I've got it set to 'Always On' and initially I've only been reading digital input, but the sensor out kept turning off.

Hi JChec,
When you set an analog attribute, you actually to have to then explicitly read that channel for the attribute to be set. If you set the attribute, then never read that AI channel, then the property won't actually make it down to the hardware. I'm assuming you are setting the property in the start case? If you are, then set the property, then perform a read on that channel. After that read is performed, you should see the sensor output stay on.
Not intuitive, I know. We are looking at ways we could make this easier for the user.
Let me know if you need any clarification.

MAC PRO REFUSES TO BE CLOCKED BY EXTERNAL WORDCLOCK!

I used my Apogee Rosetta 200 as AD/DA and Wordclock going direktly into optical input on a G5 ...
worked perfectly together for years.
pretty much what i loved macs for.
alas! those times are gone. with my new built mid 2010 machine and os 10.6.8 running, i get these
tiny clicks all the time, whatever they mean now... in the past on G5 and Tiger that meant: forgot switch to external clock in
the AMS (audio-midi-setup), done it, and ::: wow!!!
nowadays: total fail! i can set the Rosetta or the mac to whatever settings there are offerd, i ALWAYS get these clicks
and the sound is dull ...
i wonder, what has happenend here ... and after a month of research i´m getting really angry, too ...
Apogee claimed that Apple is known for changing the specs of the built in internal soundcard
every now an then. (not much help from there, either, but still better than no help at all from Apple)
Dear all: please, i don´t need any of those "get a firewire-card/new interface, sth with a driver" - comments.
I just want the mac pro to live up to it´s name. and i need someone at Apple to tell me, that i really have to
completely rearrange my trustet & expensive equipment and spend another 2000 EUR to let a MAC PRO
sound as good as a 5 year old G5 machine ... (or be as fast, talking about 32 Bit modus!!!)
this whole development scares the **** out of me .. we surely do
not want to change the plattform, but one gets the notion that not before long they just want us to ...

A: THE MAC
Machine is a MAC PRO5,1 built mid 2010, Quad Core Intel Xeon 2,4 Ghz
System is 10.6.8 (had the same issues under 10.7.x, too)
i get those clicks every 10 - 15 Seconds, some left, some right,
i get them in every audio, e.g. quicktime movies., itunes songs ... no so frequently, but they are there ..
Sound is otherwise ok, no fuzz or other artefacts than the clicksies ...
borrowed a Fireface UC just to be sure ... no clickies at all.
B: AMS
in AMS i created a "Hauptgerät" (Main Device or whatever its called in the US System)
it shows:
DIGITAL INPUT (with a Clock-Icon)
DIGTAL OUTPUT (With a wave icon)
With MAIN DEVICE highlightes, the puldown menu on the right says: "Source for clock : Digital Inpit (inegrated)"
In the list of audio-devices below Digi-Out and In boxes are checked, AMS puts a checksign into the "resample" of Digital Output ... don´t know why ...
If beneath MAIN DEVICE i highlight the "digital input" it shows on the right:::
Master stream
source: Internal Clock
Format: 44100,0 kkz 10 Channel, 24 Bit
But AMS crashes everytime i highlight "digital input" (thats a new "feature"!)
C: ROSETTA 200
says Wide/Narrow , meaning "clock locked"
Sample Rate 44,1
SRC is not on, neither on DIGI nor ANALOG outputs
WC/IO ist not set to external
(i don´t know the rosetta so well, it just always worked, so i never had to dig deeper)
D: LOGIC
as far as i know and reseached there is no place in Logic where you would talk care of
clocking (apart from MTC)
I/O Buffer is 256 Samples, but anyway, i have the clicks on every audio from every application
so, thats all i can offer you ... can you think of whats going wrong here?!?!? i do hope so ...

G5 shuts down on start up when firewire sound card is connected HELP!!!!!!

This issue has only come about in the last week.
I have been using my Focusrite Saffire soundcard with out any problems for the last year or so.
then all of a sudden last week i turn on my mac, it chimes but then half way through start up it clicks and turns off!!!
without the soundcard attached it will power up and work fine but why if i've had it working 100% for a year or so with no problems would it do this now? I have not installed any updates, new software or hardware lately and I've done all the fixes I managed to find online (replaced internal battery and plugged soundcard into it's own power supply so it doesn't draw power from the mac) but still i get the problem.
the only other issue i see is that the digtal output on the mac is lit up (red) I never use them so I don't know why that is active.... but i also have no idea how to switch it off, would that be a possible culprit??
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated, I'm supposed to be recording this week and need to get this fixed ASAP!!!!

no this is the only firewire device attached and it is (or was) directly attached to the firewire port on the back (i have tried the port in the front and it does the same thing).
I'm at a complete loss as to what the problem may be??? all i wanna know is what has happened and what i need to fix it? (new soundcard, repair firewire, new mac!!!) then i can get on with getting it fixed.

All of a sudden, the radio signal LEDs went off and node went dead

In order to change the I/O variable data type of my node from single to array of single, I simply press and hold the rest button on WSN-3202 for 7seconds. At the end of it, the radio signal LEDs went off and node went dead. All attempt to bring it back to life proof abortive. What should I do?

Sensor network node speed

Hi,
What is the actual measuring speed of a NI sensor network sigle node? In NI WSN-3202, NI WSN-3212 and NI WSN-3226 datasheet there is Sample Rate 1 S/s, but in datasheet there is also Analog bandwidth 7 kHz? What does that analog bandwith mean or help if sampling rate is limited 1 S/s?
