WSUS Administration console for Server 2012R2

hey folks
we are using WSUS on a Server2012R2 installation in our company. all is working fine.
when we install patches, everyone would like to access to the administration-console to check the server-status.
with our old wsus-server (3.2 on a server 2003-OS) we had easily installed the administration console only on our management-Server (server 2008R2). everyone had access and was happy...
can anyone tell me the "right" way, to install the wsus 2012r2 administration-console only on a server 2008R2? i did not found any technet-solutions on this. the only workaround i found, was to install the old 3.2 administration-console and then
connect to our new wsus-server... seems to work. but this should be also possible with the new administration-UI based on wsus2012r2?

Hi,
as most managment gui's, this is part of RSAT (Remote server administration tools)
On windows 2012 features\remote serrver administration tools\role admnistration tools\Windows server Update services Tools. Note rsat for windows 2012 cannot be installed on windows 7 or earlier.
This is one of the reasons why you, in my opinion, should make sure to have a management server for each os you are administering.

    I have installed a new server for WSUS on Server 2k8, This is a stand alone server on Internet No client system is connected on this server as I have to copy these updates to my LAN which never connects to internet. (Previously I was using server 2k3. for

    Wsus has finished the synchronization & downloaded updates of around 67GB & its downloading more updates. The server shows me some updates are waiting to approved. but when I click the link for those updates I get following error message.
    error code is as follows -

    Hi Sagar,
    First, please check if the RAM is exhausted. When there is not enough RAM, this issue may occurs.
    Please try to run iisreset on the WSUS server, then try to reconnect.
    Also, please try to run the server cleanup wizard to remove the unused update.
    Best Regards.

    Hi Vipin,
    Might be the way you're deploying your ADF UI project.
    Are you right clicking the name of your ADF UI project in the Application Navigator tab and then clicking "Deploy"? While this works great for your BPM composite project, you'll get errors like this when deploying the ADF project in the same manner.

  • CAL License for server 2012R2

    Around $800 USD sounds right for Server itself (the Standard edition).  In addition to that, you need user or device licenses, known as a CAL.  Typically people buy user CALs but there are situations where device makes sense.  The Server license does not include CALs, so you do need to buy them separately.

    I ask a IT vendor company for a License for server 2012R2
    He give me the price of 3000AED = 800+ USD
    so at the time of delivery he ask for 4 CAL licenses he said that you have to purchase it.
    Any Idea about licensing of server 2012R2

  • Administration Console for IDS 5.1

    How can I manage more than one Server from a single Administration Console ?
    I have two hosts on which I installed Directory and Administration Server (IDS 5.1 SP1 on Solaris 8):
    no replicas involved, one server is for test and development, the other one is for production.
    Reading docs, it seems to be possible to administer both specifing
    "FirstSrv.<domain>: port SecondSrv.<domain>:port"
    in the Console interface in the field "User Directory and port" but it doesn't work.
    I configure both the installation in the same way (admin user, same domain name, etc.)
    Is there some other configuration to specify ?
    Thanks,
    Marina

    The servers have to share the configuration directory in order to be accessible through the console at the same time. If you create a new configuration directory with each installation they cannot be administered together. The console talks to an administration server which works off one configuration directory.
    If you want to use them together then they should also use the same domain name.

  • Directory server - administration console, system server console fail

    The server is solaris 10, with the java 1.4, and the Sun One directory server 5.2 was installed from a compressed file
    System Administration Server
    System Administration Console
    Sun Java(TM) System Server Console
    All were installed, but there's no connection to the Administration Console on port 390. Isw there any documentation available that will help to troubleshoot this? Any recommendations as to how to resolve the difficulty?

    I usually get to the admin console by running /var/opt/mps/serverroot/startconsole.
    Its an X application so you will need to have $DISPLAY set.

  • WSUS PowerShell tools in Server 2012R2

    a few questions about Server 2012 R2 WSUS server. I'm working on automating our patching environment using PowerShell.
    1. How do I access the WSUS cmdlts on the new server? Do I have to download a wsus module from somewhere? Does something need to be enabled?
    2. Are the built in WSUS cmdlts the same as what Boe Prox spoke about in his thread in the scripting guy forum.
    any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
    Flite23

    Hi Flite23,
    Since your server version is 2012 R2, Windows Powershell has built-in WSUS Module since Server 2012 if the WSUS role has been installed, you can run the wsus cmdlets directly:
    Windows Server Update Services Cmdlets in Windows PowerShell
    I haven't tested Boe Prox's script, but it's useful on the old server version without built-in WSUS Module:
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/ba65fb73-b3b7-483f-9e8f-eda19fd051f8#content
    If you want to use the cmdlets in WSUS Module, you can run this cmdlet to get help information: "get-help Get-WsusServer -full".
    If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • Error while shutting down 'Admin Server' from administration console

    hi,
    When I try to shutdown admin server from administration console(Weblogic server>Control>Shut Down...) I get this error:
    No Machine associated with server AdminServer. Please associate a machine to this weblogic server using weblogic console first.
    Not able to understand what this means....
    thanks

    Read up on Node Manager - a outside-of-WLS-process that can start/stop WebLogic on your OS instance. Node Manager uses the "machine" concept.

  • The administration console doesn't refresh

    Hello,
    I used WebCenter Portal Administration Console (http://<server>:<port>/<context_root>/admin to delete a page at runtime.
    Then I added new pages in the page hierarchy in my portal application, which I would like to see in the admin console too, but it seems they don't show up
    I mention that the admin console looks fine on my integrated environment but on the managed server it doesn't refresh.
    How the admin console should be refreshed to reflect the latest changes?
    Thanks,
    Constantin

    Yes, your understanding is correct. I added the pages in the pages folder in JDeveloper (11.1.1.4) and then added them to the page hierarchy.
    Here is the pages.xml content
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <pagesDef xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/webcenter/page"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/webcenter/page/pagesDef.xsd">
    <pageDef contentMRef="/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/home.jspx"
    hidden="false" shared="false" hasSubPages="false" id="home"
    overridePolicy="true"/>
    <pageDef contentMRef="/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/ipc.jspx"
    hidden="true" shared="false" hasSubPages="false" id="ipc"/>
    <pageDef contentMRef="/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/google.jspx"
    hidden="true" shared="false" hasSubPages="false" id="google"
    overridePolicy="true"/>
    <pageDef contentMRef="/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/services.jspx"
    hidden="true" shared="false" hasSubPages="false" id="services"/>
    </pagesDef>
    I can see all the pages in the IWLS admin but in WLS admin I can see only the "home" page.
    Previously I deleted "ipc", "google" and "services" from WLS admin and I cannot see them again after a new deployment.
    I can add new pages in WLS admin without any problem.
    For IWLS, although I deleted the same pages in admin console, after a new deployment all the pages are shown.
    I guess it is the setting "delete customization before each run" in JDeveloper which allows the refresh of the IWLS admin console too.
    The question is what is the equivalant for WLS? Do I need to "clean" the customization?
    Thanks,
    Constantin

  • Unable to bring up Administration Console

    Hi,
    I created two standalone servers one in production mode and the other in development

    in the background without any issues. I tried to access the administration console
    for domain 1 (production mode) by typing the URL: http://<host name>:<portname1>/console

    it keeps saying page cannot be displayed. I am not able to find any error/info

  • Forgot administrator console password

    I have not logon to the administrator console for a year. Now I forget wkat I need to do to get it back.

    Hello Lyondell,
    Thank you for your post. For ColdFusion 9, here are the steps:-
    1. Make a backup copy of CF_HOME\lib\neo-security.xml file.
    In case of multi-server editions, the path is: C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\neo-security.xml
    2. Open the neo-security.xml file in a text editor and change 'true' to 'false' for the admin.security.enabled variable tag. For example, search the file for "admin.security.enabled" and change the entry as follows:
    <var name='admin.security.enabled'><boolean value='false'/></var>
    3. Restart the ColdFusion application server.
    You should now be able to bypass the login to the ColdFusion administrator. You can reset the password by choosing Security>Administrator.
    1. Expand Security and select CF Admin Password.
    2. Check Use a ColdFusion Administration password.
    3. Enter the new password and click Submit Changes
    For ColdFusion 10, please run the passwordreset.bat  at the following location cf_root\cfusion\bin\ file and follow the onscreen instructions.

    I couldn't find the WWANCFG.dll on my windows server 2012 R2 box, how can I add/download/install/register this dll?
    What are the dependencies of the WWANCFG.dll? are there any other dlls that need to e registered?
    Thanks for your help

  • Windows Server 2012r2 Failover Cluster Event Trace Log files

    Hi
    The only documentation I can find regarding event trace log files (Diagnostic.etl.*) for Failover Clustering relate to Server 2008/2008r2, which state that the etl files should be in C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs.
    I have been exploring a clustering lab for Server 2012r2 and cannot find these files in that folder.
    Strangely the PS cmdlet Get-ClusterLog still works!
    Where are the etl files?
    TIA

    Hi,
    Please check if the log is available in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\.
    If not, you can use Get-ClusterLog with the Destination parameter to get the log file.
    Destination
    Specifies the location to copy the cluster log(s) to. To copy to the current folder use "-Destination ." for this parameter.
