WTF? Buzzword Can't Import PDFs?

I want to use buzzword as a no brainer for proofing ads. I
have clients who do not want to have to sign up, input passwords,
or go through hoops to proof an ad I've sent them. Buzzword seemed
like the best solution until I found out it can't import PDFs,
which is how we make our proofs.
I don't understand this.

After my initial excitement about actual client collaboration
with Adobe products, I was left with a big letdown by not being
able to do the simple task of collaborating with my clients with
Acrobat.com. After your reply I read this review
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080602-adobe-late-with-mixed-bag-to-document-sharin g-collaboration.html
and saw that the review was right on the mark.
Adobe, you have more work to do before this is even close to
a collaboration tool we can use.

  • Can i import .pdf documents?

    can i import .pdf documents to iPhone 4 (CDMA)?

    The question is, can i import .pdf documents to iPhone 4.
    Answer, Yes you can, it's called Dropbox.
    Once you have downloaded Dropbox on your iPhone and on your Mac (one is an iPhone App, the other is a Mac Software), open an account it's free.
    Look on the right hand side of your Desktop menu bar for a blue box icon, click on the icon and chose "open Dropbox folder", drop any pdf file into the Dropbox folder (lets say the Public folder) the document will Sync, once that is done it's now available on your iPhone, simply open Dropbox on your iPhone, located the folder, open the document and read it. For those who don't know, the iPhone 4 can read pdf file by default, no other software required.
    PS : Another great App for the iPhone and Mac is Evernote, it has very powerful features.

  • How can I import .pdf forms into RoboHelp 11.0.3.268 without garbling fields?

    When I try to import .pdf forms into RoboHelp 11, the fields get garbled.
    Is there any way around this?

    Hello again
    Okay, you first open or give focus to the Project Manager pod. Once there, you will either be in Global View (where you see all files combined - CSS, Images, HTM and others) or you will be in Classic view. Classic View has separate folders, One for HTML files, another for CSS, another for Baggage, etc. See image below for reference.
    If you are in Global view, just right-click somewhere inside the Project Files and choose New > Baggage File. If you are in Classic view, right-click the Baggage Files folder and choose New > Baggage File.
    Then you navigate to where the Baggage File exists and you add it to the project. When you generate, the Baggage File should be automatically copied to the output folder with the other files.
    To link to the Baggage File, you generally select the text or image the user will click to display the file, then click and drag the file from the Project Manager pod to the selected image or text.
    Or, if you wish to leave the PDF where it is on the web, just determine the URL that would open it. Create a hyperlink from an image or text that will open the file.
    Cheers... Rick

  • FM7 for Macintosh can't import PDFs from Distiller 8.1.2

    I'm not sure exactly what day I updated my Distiller 8 to the latest 8.1.2, but now, PDFs created with Distiller, whether from Frame in Classic or from an OS X app, can't be imported into FrameMaker 7 for Mac. I get an error that Frame can't load the document (39251:-1) and the console posts this error:
    ] Error in function TryToImportPDFIntoObject, status=IMPORTPDFCantAddPDFFacet
    Setting Distiller to save down to earlier version does not work, and neither does opening it in Acrobat and doing a save. However, I am not out of luck: If I distill it with Apple Preview, it works fine. Also, PDFs made with earlier Distiller work fine.
    Frankly I don't expect any specific answers, but I thought I'd post my "God Save the Macintosh" rant anyway!

    SOLVED!
    As suspected, my problem of not being able to play or import CD from iTunes 8.1 was internal to iTunes (with a little help from me). iTunes does not recognize the drive letters of A: or B: I wanted the drive letter configuration of my computer to be C:SYSTEM and D:DATA, so I changed the optical drive to A: just like the old floppy drives used to be. (Going old school.) Since iTunes will not accept that, I changed the drive letter of the optical drive to O: (for optical) and everything works.
    To do this, go CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM AND MAINTENANCE>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>COMPUTER MANAGEMENT>STORAGE>DISK MANAGEMENT. All your drives should be laid out in front of you. (If your optical drive isn't listed, you might have to insert a disk and from the menu bar select ACTION>REFRESH.) Left click on your optical drive to select it and then right click on Change Drive Letter and Paths... Select Change, enter any unused drive letter greater than B: (D: is common by default, O: seemed to work) and OK your way out of it.
    Changing my drive letters has probably left me open to problems from other programs that don't taken drive letter flexibility into account, but iTunes works for me.
    I am e-mailing this to the Apple tech who tried unsuccessfully to help me, placing suspicion on everything except the coding of iTunes. Hopefully, Apple will put this in their knowledge base, because it seems to be a common problem and few know the solution.

  • Can't import .pdf file into iphoto

    I think the problem is that I had taped pics onto 8.5x11 paper and at copy shop they scanned into a .pdf file which has 8 pages of pics. What I want to do is find a way to drag pics off of a page into iphoto to email to family.
    Maybe this is impossible? I don't have a scanner, is why I went to copy shop.
    I can view the pages in PREVIEW and in ADOBE reader, and try to highlight pic and copy into iphoto, but it only shows a part of top of image.
    I also tried in Adobe Reader the menus: Tools/Select and zoom/snapshot and it shows "copied to clipboard" but when try to go into iphoto to paste, the PASTE word is greyed out; same if try to paste to desktop. Any ideas how to get photo's off .pdf file? TKS ahead for help!

    In preview go to print and click PDF and select send PDF to iPhoto . In iPhoto duplicate the resulting image and crop to a photo and repeat as needed

  • PDF Reader for IPAD 2: how to import PDF files in the library

    I have installed the "PDF reader" app and it is a great one. but can't import pdf files that are already in my IPAD (I see them in iBooks)

    Documents associated with a specific app, such as iBooks, are not available to other apps on the iPad unless the app that they are associated with is capable of sending docs to be opened in another app, such as GoodReader is capable of doing. iOS is a much less open system than a computer OS like MAC OS  X or Windows, there is no central documents folder which various apps can browse to and open.

  • How to import pdf files as booklets - and not as books in 9.2

    After having being very fond of the possibility to include booklets (or, in my case, sheet music) in pdf format into the main music library, I can't find the way to do it in version 9.2. It still imports the pdf, but puts it into the Books department. The old pdf files are still in the Music library.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    Walt

    This change of behaviour is most annoying, and to my mind is further proof that the primary function of iTunes as a music player/organiser has been lost sight of in the welter of iPod/iPhone/iPad 'features'.
    I find that I can still import PDF booklets into the main Music library, but they no longer merge with their related album as they used to when Album Title and Album Artist were set appropriately. What you need to do now if this is what you want to happen is Get Info on the PDF booklet after you import it, and change the Media Type to 'Music' in the Options tab (iTunes 9.2 sets this to 'Book' by default).
    It's a nuisance to have to perform this additional step, but at least it brings back the previous behaviour.

  • How can I auto export a PDF File using the "Smallest File Size" preset and set the Exported File Name based on information from an Imported PDF?

    Greetings all,
    I am trying to create a script to automate a PDF export process for my company for inDesign. I’m fairly new to inDesign itself and have no previous experience with javascript, although I did take C++ in high school and have found it helpful in putting this code together.
    We have an inDesign template file and then use the Multi-page PDF importer script to import PDF files. We then have to export two version of each file that we import, then delete the imported file and all of the pages to reset the template. This has to be done for nearly 1000 pdf files each month and is quite tedious. I’m working on automating the process as much as possible. I’ve managed to piece together code that will cleanup the file much quicker and am now trying to automate the PDF exports themselves.
    The files are sent to us as “TRUGLY#####_Client” and need to be exported as “POP#####_Client_Date-Range_North/South.pdf”
    For example, TRUGLY12345_Client needs to be exported as POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_North and POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_South.
    There are two templates built into the template file for the north and south file that are toggled easily via layer visibility switches. I need to get a code that can ideally read the #s from the imported Trugly file as well as the Client and input those into variables to use when exporting. The date range is found in the same place in the top right of each pdf file. I am not sure if this can be read somehow or if it will have to be input manually. I can put North or South into the file name based on which template layer is visible.
    I am not sure how to go about doing this. I did find the following code for exporting to PDF with preset but it requires me to select a preset and then type the full file name. How can I set it to automatically use the “Smallest File Size” preset without prompting me to choose and then automatically input some or preferably all of the file name automatically? (If the entire filename is possible then I don’t even want a prompt to appear so it will be fully automated!)
    PDF Export Code (Originally from here: Simple PDF Export with Preset selection | IndiSnip [InDesign® Snippets]):
    var myPresets = app.pdfExportPresets.everyItem().name;
    myPresets.unshift("- Select Preset -");
    var myWin = new Window('dialog', 'PDF Export Presets');
    myWin.orientation = 'row';
    with(myWin){
        myWin.sText = add('statictext', undefined, 'Select PDF Export preset:');
        myWin.myPDFExport = add('dropdownlist',undefined,undefined,{items:myPresets});
        myWin.myPDFExport.selection = 0;
        myWin.btnOK = add('button', undefined, 'OK');
    myWin.center();
    var myWindow = myWin.show();
    if(myWindow == true && myWin.myPDFExport.selection.index != 0){
        var myPreset = app.pdfExportPresets.item(String(myWin.myPDFExport.selection));
        myFile = File(File.saveDialog("Save file with preset: " + myPreset.name,"PDF files: *.pdf"));
        if(myFile != null){
            app.activeDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, myFile, false, myPreset);
        }else{
            alert("No File selected");
    }else{
        alert("No PDF Preset selected");
    So far my code does the following:
    1) Runs the Multi-Page PDF Import Script
    2) Runs PDF Export Script Above
    3) Toggles the Template
    4) Runs #2 Again
    5) Deletes the imported PDF and all pages and toggles template again.
    It’s close and much better than the original process which was almost 100% manual but I’d like to remove the Preset prompt from the PDF script and have it automatically select the “Smallest File Size” preset. and then if there’s a way to have it auto-fill in the file name so no user input is required at all other than selecting each file to import. (If there’s a way to setup a batch action for the multi-import script that would be even better!)
    Thanks in advance and if there’s anything else I can provide that would help please let me know! Even a nudge in the right direction will be a big help!

    If you hold down the option key, it will typically show the location. Or you can often hit option-return on the file and it will reveal the file in the Finder, instead of opening it.
    Final option is to open it, and just option-click the filename in the toolbar of Preview and it should show you the location.
    It's probably an attachment to an email you've received. If you have Mail set to cache emails and their attachments it'll be stashed in a subdirectory of ~/Library/Mail. Which is fine.

  • How can I import multiple PDF pages into ID?

    I am putting together a catalog which consists of over 400 pages. We had the products on our website exported into a PDF format and I need to add a header and footer to each page via a master page in ID. I don't need to edit the actual PDF but I need to create a layer on top of what was exported. How can I import the 400 pages to be independent of each other without manually placing them?

    Depending upon what you want in the header or footer, you do it in
    Acrobat...Document>Header and Footer>Add.
    There's a multipage PDF place script that ships with ID...open the
    scripts panel and it should be there.

  • How can I import data in an interactive PDF?

    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to import data (in this case, price lists created in Excel) in a PDF that needs be interactive; The goal is to actually make up a document (in InDesign) using form fields, and then have that data imported in the form fields, but the generated PDF has to be interactive. What I'm trying to achieve is that my sales people have a pdf, where they can generate a price estimate based on the number of products they wanna order. Is this achievable at all?

    Yes, very much so. The form fields can be added in InDesign or in Acrobat
    (I prefer the latter), and the data can be imported in Acrobat as well. The
    Excel file needs to have the following structure for it to work: Fields
    names in the first row and their data in the second. Then you save it as a
    tab-delimited text file and import it in Acrobat via Tools - Forms - More
    Form Options - Import Data.

  • Save a pdf with security so vendors can only import & print but not extract?

    We submit ads to newspapers all the time in pdf format...the newspaper imports the pdfs into their page layout program (Quark) for printing...currently we do not put any security on the pdfs because the vendors can not import the pdf into their page layout program Quark with security on.
    Is there a way we can set security so the only thing the newspaper can do is import the pdf into Quark (or a page layout program) and print?
    We would like to restrict the use of exporting artwork and copy from the pdf as well as saving the pdf as different formats.

  • I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

    I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

    Yes, you can do all of that via Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data, if you have Acrobat.
    If you only have the free Reader then you can still do it, but it requires a script.
