WUMC710 connects with only 40mhz in AC mode with Linksys E6500

Hi there,
I have a Linksys WUMC710 media connector and a EA6500 router. The plan was to have a fast AC wireless network...
So much for the plan... reallity looks a bit different...
When the EA6500 wireless mode is set to AC mode only, the WUMC710 only connects with 40mhz. Meaning, that speed is not a single bit better, than wireless n...
When I change the wireless mode to "automatic", then the WUMC710 connects with 80mhz. ??? Strange... Problem is anyway, that the speed with 80 mhz is not a single bit better than in wireless n mode (40mhz).
- There are NO other wireless networks arround me, so that could not be the problem
- I have the very latest firmware installed on both devices
- The WUMC710 and the EA6500 are only 2 meters apart with no walls between.
So wireless n speed is about 15-20 mb/s, wireless ac speed is exactly the same, even when the WUMC710 shows 80mhz connection...
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Christian

  • Eeeeep..... connecting with Linksys Wet11

I just replied to another thread, but I think it may be better to just ask the whole forum....
I've trying to install the Linksys Wet11 (off of Ebay) on my daughters imac. I connected it and have followed all the instructions........BUT apparantly I bought an older model because the set up is at 192.168.1.225, and when I went to the Linksys site to get intructions for installing it on a Mac my set up page looked much different than the one they describe.
And there is no set-up wizard on mine.
They say the set up panel has tabs that say
info, wireless, IP addr, Admin & Help,
    but mine has only
set up, status, password and help tabs
i guess it must be an older version of the set-up program........
I've tried to kind of blunder my way thru, and when I look at the network status of the Ethernet connection it has a green light and says I am connected.
But when I try to get online, or contact the other computers on my network it doesn't work. And when I use the Network Setup assistant it says that the subnet mask and router are not consistent with my IP address, which 192.168.1.5 that the linksys program has you set it to......
I read on a different thread that it won't connect with IP addresses that are in 192.168.0.x range, but that it does fine with the 192.168.1.x range....... could this be the problem, and how would I remedy it? I know the router address for all the other devices on my network ARE in the 192.168.0.x range.
I am fairly Mac literate, but network literate I am NOT, so please feel free to ask anything that I haven't given you info about...... Thanks

    Hi
It would appear you have a version 1 WET11 the manual says that you have the correct IP address for the bridge for either version. The set-up wizard is for PC's only you will need to use the web browser instructions. Bung http://192.168.1.225 into the address bar of Safari and away you go. If your firmware is not up to date you can do that at the same time.
If you set the bridge to collect it's IP address automatically from the router via DHCP and the ethernet tab on the network preferences pane to automatic it should work without a problem. Getting back to adjust the settings in the bridge can be a tad more difficult after it's set up.
It was a 5 minute job to set up an iMac 500Mhz just recently. Hope this helps.

  • E70 can only connect with Linksys by Easy WLAN

I have an E70 since apr 2007 and used it without problems.
I bought a new router : Linksys Ultra RangePlus N Router.
Then I configured the router and my three other devices: laptop, Maemo N810 internet tablet and my HP WLAN printer connected without a problem.
    But not my phone.
I set up WPA/WPA2 and filled in the key.
I see my router in the list of accessible Wifi hotspots and when I try to connect but then it says 'No WLAN network found'.
Restarting the phone and router did not help.
I removed MAC address filtering (despite my phone's MAC address is in the filter), did not help.
I put the Mixed mode (B/G/N) to Mixed (B/G) and then it said 'WPA key authentication failed'. Filling in the WPA key on the phone did not help.
Then I set on the phone TKIP encryption disabled, and then the router doen not appear anymore in the list.
And then I tried Easy WLAN , I selected my router SSID and filled in the key and Voila it worked.
But why is it not in the list of accessible Wifi hotspots ? Now I have to fill in the key every time when I connect to my own hotspot because I can only access it via Easy WLAN.
    Any ideas on this ?

  • Unable to access wireless connection with linksys rooter WRT54GS

    Hi,
I just installed a wireless rooter Linksys WRT54GS on my connection, The problem I have is being able to access it with my wireless on my laptop.
I kept getting a message stating "connection unindentified" "access limited". I've done most of what is already suggested on your forum such has turning the power off of my rooter, my modem and such and still nothing. I'm able to access the wireless with my girlfriend Mac Notebook, my playstation 3 and my desktop computer which uses Windows X. First I thought that it my be a problem with my security but even when the connection is unprotected I still get that error. I try to disable the IpV6but that didn'tdo anything either.
My laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio X300 PQX32C-033019 with Vista and my rooter is a Linksys WRT54GS vers. 6
Here's my connection log, sorry if it's in French:

  • LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP m276nw no network connection with Linksys HUB

    Hello
I've setup my LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP m276nw to connect to my home network using a wired connction.
When connected directly to my router the connection initializes and successfully recieves an ip address. I've been able to access all the network function connected to my router directly either wired or wirelessly.
I also have an old Linksys hub and when the printer is connected to the hub, it does not initialize the network connection. The hub works with every other sevice in my network, including a few game consoles and a Mac Mini.
Is there an advance network setting I should be looking at?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Remove any wired connection before attempting to connect via wireless.
Print off the printers network configuration and check the settings against your routers settings.
Ensure that router and printer are using the same frequency.
Review this HP posted information once you have the above information in hand.

  • Cannot make WiFi connection with Linksys X2000

    Hey ,
I have been setting up my Cisco X2000 wireless router recently and I have it working fine for my wired connections, however for some reason when you try to use the wireless none of our smartphones,  can connect, unless using a wireless guest account.
I tryed different security settings with different passwords, but none worked (WEP, WPA, WPA2...)
Can someone help me out on this problem? I can't imagine what would be causing this.
    Firmware Version: v2.0.05
    Thanks,

Step 4 - Personalizing the wireless settings of the router.
    1. Click on the Wireless tab and set it to Manual.
    2. Change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) from "linksys" to your preferred name (example: My Network).
    3. Set Channel Width to 20Mhz and change the Wireless Channel from Auto to 11.
    4. Set SSID Broadcast to Enabled.
    5. Click "Save Settings" button.
Step 5 - Securing your wireless network.
    1. Click on the Wireless Security sub-tab just beside Basic Wireless Settings.
    2. Change the Security Mode from None to WPA2 Personal.
    3. Type any word on the Passphrase field for and take note of it.
    4. That will be the Password for you to connect to the wireless network.
    5. Click "Save Settings" button.
    Step 6 - Power Cycle.
    a. Shut down the computer.
    b. Unplug the power cord of the router followed by the modem.
    c. After 3 minutes, plug the power cord of the modem back in and wait for the power light to get solid before plugging the router back in.
    d. Turn the computer back on as soon as the power light on the router becomes solid.
    e. Check your Internet connection.
strange thing is that I set the modem up this way in the first place, but without the power resets and it didn 't work.
Thanks to Jermine P for the efforts taken.

  • Connecting with Linksys BEFW11S4

I'm able to connect to the internet using the Linksys router using OS 9 on a G3, but the second computer which is a dual boot G4 will likewise only connect when running OS 9. When the same computer is booted into OS X, Network Diagnostics gives a Green light to Built-in Ethernet, Network Settings and ISP, but Internet and Server get a red light and no internet.
So obviously it has to be Tiger. Any ideas?
Also any ideas for successful DCC sends on IRC with this setup?
    TIA

    I started out with:
Network/Built-in Ethernet GREEN: Built-in Ethernet is currently active and has the IP address x.x.x.x. You are connected to the Internet via Built-in Ethernet.
But since the internet connection was not REALLY working, I clicked on Assist me...
This gives me a green light for Built-in Ethernet, Network Settings and ISP, but a red light for Internet and Server.
A new location produces red lights in all places.
Rebooting into OS 9 produces SUCCESS.
    Thanks for trying!

  • 24" iMac can't connect with Linksys

My new 24" iMac connects fine when hard wired to the Linksys BEFW11S4, but cannot truly connect by WAN. The diagnostics say that I am connected to the Internet, but the page (that doesn't come up) says that I'm not connected. The iMac is sitting right next to the router and our Dell laptop connects just fine. Any suggestions?
I'll try calling Apple in the morning. I'm a little discouraged by the whole PC to Mac process. I don't blame Apple completely, but they are clearly not as ready out of the box as the ads imply.

    richperson,
I disagree. The most likely explanation for you and
others having a similar sounding problem is that so
many are first time Mac users. For one thing, many
first time Mac users simply do not take seriously the
"Welcome" setup procedure that appears when they
first startup their Macs. That setup will largely
determine whether subsequent operation will be
    trouble free or not.
Eh,eh, you should as well tell the OP that he's doomed...
Since the Core 2 Duo is basically the same iMac as
the prior Core Duo that released just eight months
ago, it would be highly unlikely that there is
anything new that must be conquered. If one looks
across the other Mac discussion areas, it is common
that wireless networking problems are as persistent
an issue regardless whether the Mac computer model
has just been released, or is a five year old model.
    Exactly...
One thing I do know is that AirPort works basically
    the same in all Macs.
    or doesnt !
Though I agree with you the OP probably did not configure properly airport authentification, parameters (or forgot to adjust MAC adress on the routeur or...), there ARE issues with wifi up to os 10.4.7. (I know of at least one bug more or less predictable and described it there : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=618964 . I still hope I'll get some feedback on a bug report I submitted about 10 days ago...)
We won't know for sure why the OP can't connect wirelessly until he takes the trouble to detail exactly the configuration of the linksys and the steps he took... For all I know it could be an incorrect configuration (the most probable of course), a bug similar as the one I encountered or an hardware failure...
But it looks like the OP came there to complain and whine, not really for help...

  • IPOD Touch/iPHONE Connection with Linksys WRT160N V2

Been trying to connect to my wireless modem with the new iPOD touch and iPhone at home but will not recognize my pwd.  Went to apple website for setup and did everything per instruction to join network with failed result.  However, my iPhone works fine with my 3G network cell phone provider.   I have a WRT160N V2 router connected off an ARIS comcast cable modem.
Anyone had this issue?  How did you resolve this?
    Please help....
    Thanks.
    ailao

I'm using the same router as yours and my iPhone connects perfectly fine.
    All I did was:
    1. Change the SSID of the router from "linksys" to a different name.
    2. Changed the channel.
    3. Configured WPA2 wireless security.
    4. On the iPhone I just typed in the password (which is the WPA2 key) and it's connected.

  • New XBOX 360 S can't connect with Linksys WRT54G2

I can't get the XBOX 360 (the new S model) to connect w/ XBOX Live through my Linksys WRT54G2.
After the automatic settings didn't work, I tried some manual instructions here:
    http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT54G2-issues-when-it-s-plugged-in/m-p/207071?qu...
    But that didn't work.
Note:  I have a laptop and an iPad that connect to the router just fine.
    Ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

One additional piece of info... When I go to my Windows PC and look at the Network Map (Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Map), the XBOX shows up as part of the network.  But it has a dashed green line connected to it, instead of a solid green line like the rest of the devices.
Not sure if that provides any additional clues.

  • Office 2013 - Word cannot establish a connection with this document after the system resumed from suspend mode

    Hiya!
This issue has been answered numerous times for Office 2010 and Office 2007, but I have yet to any solutions or Hotfixes that work for Office 2013 (x64) on Win7.
    How to replicate the issue:
Open a file from a network share.
    Edit file.
Leave computer on with file open. Computer goes to sleep or into stand-by mode.
    Wait a bit
    Wake up computer
CPU opens file in Read-Only mode and gives you the following error "Word cannot establish a network connection with this document after the system resumed from suspend mode. Save the document into a different file to keep any changes."
    What I've tried:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2434898 - Office 2007 registry fixes. Does not apply.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2413659 - Office 2010 problem. This exact issue. Says 'No microsoft products that match this hotfix are installed'
    Work Around:
I can saving new versions of these files overrides this issue, but this is sometimes not possible for end-users who only have specific access to ONE SPECIFIC FILE in a particular network share.
Please let me know how I can alleviate this issue!
    Thanks

    Hi,
Are those problematic documents created via previous versions of Office?
Please also try to run a repair of your Office 2013 installtion and check if it helps. See:

  • Problems to connect with VNC to headless mac mini after sleep mode

    Hallo,
I've a Mac Mini (late 2009) setup with Lion Server. I want to use it without mouse/keyboard/monitor attached. Since I want to safe power ( green IT ;-) ), I would like to use sleep mode.
First thing I've learned is, that Lion Server prevents the mini to go to sleep after an idel time as set in power saving.
The only thing that works, is setting up a shedule with sleep / wakeup times.
When I start the mini, everything works great. I can connect via VNC. The Mini goes to sleep at the scheduled time and wakes up again as expected.
From this time on, things begin to get strange:
I can connect using VNC, but all i get is a grey screen with a moving cursor. So VNC is working, but there is no screen available on the Mini. Same if I use thightVNC from a Windwos PC. Get a grey screen.
Further the system does NOT go to sleep at scheduled times any longer.
I was able to track down the problem to the missing monitor: If the Mini wakes up without a monitor connected, I seems to wait to get the right resolution or what ever. All servives are working, SSH is fine even VNC works, but shows only a grey screen.
I've been playing with attaching / detaching a monitor. Sometimes I got:
    - Boot with monitor
    - connect with VNC, see login screen
    - send Mini to sleep
    - disconnect monitor
    - wakeup Mini
    - VNC reconnects, showing grey screen
    - plug in monitor and wait until login screen appears on the monitor
    - VNC switches from grey to login screen
The only way I can save some energy is a sheduled shutdown / restart. So headless works, but not after waking up from sleep.
Any hint or solutions for this ?
    Thanks
    Marc

    Disco,
*_Can Only Connect to Network With One Mac at a Time_*
Forgive the size of this post, but the following suggestions have worked for others experiencing connectivity issues like yours. Consider each topic separately. if one does not resolve your issue, then move on the next one.
    *Multicast Rate / Transmit Power*
    Launch Airport Utility.
Select your Time Capsule on the left.
    Click "Manual Setup".
Select "Airport" from the toolbar at the top.
    Click the "Wireless" tab.
    Click the "Wireless Options..." button.
Check the setting for "Multicast Rate".
This setting controls the range at which you allow devices to access your network. Lower is better if you want access throughout the house. But this setting won't improve speed. Tesserax has a nice explanation of this setting in the following quote:
+"The Multicast Rate option sets the threshold throughput level a wireless client must obtain in order to be "accepted" by the base station. The lower this value, theoretically, the greater number of clients that can connect, especially those at greater distances from the base station. At the opposite end, the higher this number, only those wireless clients that can achieve the higher throughput value will be able to connect.+ [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6736587]
Next, verify that your "Transmit Power: is set to 100%.
*Interference Robustness / Use Wide Channels*
Finally, ensure that "Interference Robustness" is checked (For certain network configurations this setting will say "Use Wide Channels. Verify that it is checked nonetheless.)
Help Doc states: +"You may experience network performance problems if a microwave oven or other source of interference is used frequently near your base station or Time Capsule. To help minimize interference, turn on interference robustness."+
    Click “Done”.
Click “Update” in the lower right.
Wait for the Airport device to restart (about 60 seconds).
    Then close Airport Utility.
    *Adjust Firewall Settings* #
Go to System Preferences --> Security.
    Click the Firewall tab.
Change setting to “Set access for specific services and applications”.
The System will now ask you when each process wants to penetrate the firewall. Once you click “Allow” each time you are asked, it will be saved in the pane at the bottom of this window and it should never ask you again.
One poster observed, “Since I made this change, my wireless has been strong and Time Machine works like a champ and the impact on my network performance is minimal. I speculate that the change in performance is due to security protocols or services that run in the 'allow all incoming connections' and 'allow only essential services' modes. Whatever the reason this fix has worked for me for over 2 months without resetting my airport connection or time capsule.” [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8348496#8348496]
    *Wireless Security Issue*
    Launch Airport Utility.
Select the TC on the left.
    Click "Manual Setup".
    Click the "Wireless" tab.
Now for "Wireless Security" select "None".
    Click "Update".
Now try accessing the internet with all each of your Macs. Does the problem still exist? If not then you may need to clear out your previous security settings.
First, change "Wireless Security" back on using "WPA2 Personal".
Create a new password in the 2 fields below.
Uncheck and recheck "Remember this password in my keychain".
    Click "Update".
Next, on each of the 3 Macs add the new password in the Network Preferences and click "Apply".
Finally, try accessing the internet with a 3 Macs again.
If this doesn't work, then we may need to go into Keychain and remove any old references to your Airport network.
*Reset Time Capsule Password on Affected Mac*
Try the following. Read and follow the steps very carefully. You may find it helpful to print this post first as you will lose network connectivity for a short time.
On the Mac that is experiencing the network issues launch Keychain Access.
Select "login" from the Keychains pane in the top left.
Highlight "...Passwords" in the Category pane from the lower left.
Sort all the items by “Kind”.
Note everything labeled "Airport...". How many do you have listed? There should only be one "Airport base station password" for each base station that you have active, and there should only be one "Airport network password" for each network you have created.
Delete the “Airport network password” entry for the network in question.
    Close Keychain Access.
    Now go to System Preferences.
    Select “Network” Preferences.
Highlight “AirPort” in the services pane on the left.
    Click “Advanced…”.
    Click the “Airport” tab.
    Highlight the network in question.
Delete the network using the tiny “-” button.
Verify that “Remember any network this computer has joined” is checked.
    Click “OK”.
    Click “Apply”.
Click “Turn Airport Off”. Wait 10 seconds.
    Click “Turn Airport On”.
In the “Network Name” menu select the network in question.
    Enter the network password.
    Check “Remember this network”.
    Click “OK”.
    Click “Apply”.
    Reboot your computer.
After login you may be presented with a window stating “None of your preferred networks are available”.
    Select your network.
Ensure that “Remember this network” is checked.
If you wish, you can check “Show password” for verification.
    Click “Join”.
If you go back into Network Prefs and click “Advanced…” your network should have returned to the “Preferred Networks” list. Drag it to the top of the list so it has precedence. If you have done so, click “OK” and then click “Apply”.
Now see if network connectivity has improved for the affected Mac. Let us know if the above was helpful.
    Cheers!

New imac 27(Intel based, bought 2013) slow wifi connection with my Verizon fios actiontec router. All other wireless devices in the house(ipad 3gen,MacBook Air ,hp laptop) have a much faster connection. Should I change router settings to G only, switch channel from auto to maybe 6,channel width to 20mhz? Already changed security settings to WPA2.  Currently router is running in mixed b and g mode.

If you have one computer running on G they will all run on G. All ROUTERS are backward compatible, in otherwords if you have a group of computers and all of them are N compatible and one or two are G They will all work but the N computers will run at N and those that are G will run at G speed not N.
It can get confusing but really it is simple. The newest is 802.11 AC and ic used with the newest Mac Computers made available in November 2013. So if you have the newest Airport Extreme that is 802.11ac and the newest computers that are AC compliant your speed will be 5 times faster than anything on the market right now.
