WVC200 and WRT54GX2

I am having problems getting the WVC200 wireless camera to work properly with the WRT54GX2 WAP. The WRT54GX2 is currently setup for WAP only, not to be a router. The FW is currently version:1.01.14.
The WVC200 is type 1.1 (not on webpage for updates) and FW is at 1.10.0.
I tried it on a different WAP, non-linksys, configured with the same wireless setup and the the camera works ok.
Currently I am not able to access the 2nd camera that uses the WRT54GX2.
There are 2 different WRT54GX2 and 2 WVC200's.  The wireless works ok with wireless portables.
Any suggestions.

I was told that WRT54GX2 has a new firmware version 1.01.22 that should fix most of your connection issues.....

  • Wireless os x wired win xp and wrt54gx2

Can somebody help me I am running OS x 10.4.8 with airport, Comcast cable , A linksys wrt54gx2 and windows xp sp2. Windows in wired to the router but i want to transfer files and share a printer how can I set this up.

To clarify, DNS isn't the issue as I can't even acquire a 192.x.x.x local address on the network. I can try disabling ipv6, though I doubt that will do anything as windows xp on the macbook pro doesn't doesn't acquire an ip address either.

  • WVC200 and bad audio on monitor software

I am using 9 WVC200 cameras with the "monitor" software.  when view any camera from a browser, the audio works fine.  When viewing any of the cameras through the "monitor" software (2.0.0.14) the audio has an echo sound and never works properly.  What is the issue??

THanks for the info.  I had been using over 9 cameras so the standard software which supports 9 was not enough and i found another linksys monitor software that worked for more cameras.  in trying the software you reccomended the audio works perfectly so it must have been a compatibility issue with the other linksys monitor which i have sinced stopped using.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Wvc200 and vista 64bit

My Vista 64 cannot cope with the activex of wvc200, so I cannot see the image through IE. Is there a way around this problem? Is Linksys going to do something about it?
    Thanks,
    Joop

    Thanks, bigdaddyt,
The problem is not that the ActiveX won't run, but the ActiveX just does not seem to work with Vista 64. So, the arrow keys won't display and the image isn't there. I guess that Vista64 somehow does not interpret the AciveX code correctly. I recall having seen a message somewhere that states the same.
So I would like to know of either Cisco or someone else have found a workaround for this problem.

  • WVC200 Image Quality Problem

    Hi,
I have an WVC200 internet camera connected to WAG325N ADSL router. Image quality is too poor. There are lots of different coloured dots on image. I attached current image settings and image samples. Images are taken in good light conditions. Any solution ideas?

So after two weeks I got a replacement WVC200 and I'm still not satisfy with the image quality, I'm not sure if the replacement is also bad or I'm expecting to much of the camera. Here are two sample images.
    What's your opinion?
If you have any suggestion on how to improve the quality please let me know.

  • WVC200 in low light/software question

I've got a WVC200 cameras in my home we use to monitor our baby.  I had paired it with another cheap camera I had with night vision and the second camera was used for illumination only.  However it's failed, and I can't seem to find out what Illuminators are compatible with the Linksys WVC200 and on what frequency the IR light needs to be on to work.  I have an illuminator which works on an invisible frequency, but it seems not to work with the Linksys.  If you know what I need, and where to purchase it let me know please.
I'm also curious if anybody has ever used any other software with this camera rather than what was supplied with it.  It would need to monitor multiple cameras to suit my future needs.  I'm aware the supplied software does that..  I'm just interested in options.

Which version WVC200 do you have? 1.1 or 1.2? If 1.2 you should remove the filter infront of the lens. The IR lamp compatible with the 200 is an 850nm lamp and not the totally invisible 950nm lamp. You should also use a lamp that is compatible with the lens which gives FOV of 67 degrees. You would want a lamp that gives you a "flood" effect (but shorter distance) as opposed to a narow beam (with longer distance). Good info site on this (and where you can get the lamp from) is at www.rayteccctv.com. Just for the record I don't work for Raytec!!!!
As for the software, try www.pysoft.com.

  • Unable to successfully set up my WVC200 to view remotely.

    Hi everyone,
This is somewhat of a long story so please bare with me. I've had my WVC200 for a number of years and for the last year (at least) its been stored in a bag in my closet. The camera was bought to monitor my grandmother after she fell down the stairs, I set it up originally and had no problems connecting via VLC to view (I'm an OSX user and at the time this was the only way that I know of to view the feed). I'd set up a DynDNS address and forward the camera port (1024) and all was well. My Grandmothers health improved and the camera was taken down.
Two weeks ago her knees gave out and she's still in hospital recovering. I decided to re-install the camera ready for when she comes home (tomorrow). I'm sat here in my Grandmothers living room after 7 hours of battling with the camera. I give in.. this is my last attempt before it gets thrown out the window.
I've started from scratch and had to buy a new router, I bought a Netgear DGN1000 as the old Netgear died. I set up the camera with a static IP (192.168.0.200) subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.0.1. I entered the primary and secondary DNS address taken from my routers status screen.
I've changed the video format to MJPEG and set up a couple of user accounts, changed the default port for the camera to 8181 and ensured the 'Alt port' option is ticked.
created a new DynDNS (nancam.******.net) and have a old PC upstairs using the DynDNS software to keep the IP upto date (I've tried using the DYNDNS feature on the router but stayed with the PC software as it had worked in the past).
The Netgear port forwarding options are a little different with the option to create a service (I created WVC200 and opened port 8181) then using another tab names Firewall rules I pointed the WVC200 service to the address of the camera 192.168.0.200.
internally the camera works fine. I can access it via Safari 192.168.0.200:8181 and via the 'Linksys Cam' app on my iphone4 based on the same info (plus a user and pass). It even works internally via my Dns address with the port both on Safari and 'Linksys Cam'.
However, the moment I try from another network (my home broadband and 3G on the iPhone) I'm out of luck.
When I enter my DNS from another network in a browser it prompts for the USR/PASS so I know it's routing through to the camera okay but once I've entered the User and password the server times out and no page is loaded. same with 'Linksys Cam' it just comes back saying no video is being received from the address.
I've been at it today for several hours starting from scratch with both the router and the camera a number of times. I've tried different ports both wired and wireless connections from the camera and always hit the same wall, it works internally on the same network as the camera but nothing once I've left the house.
I've come to the conclusion this camera is broken, I'm hoping one of you can tell me I'm wrong. I do like the camera and it was a real asset the first time round. With my Grandmother coming out tomorrow I'm feeling gutted I've been unable to get this working.
I've followed this guide and read page after page of threads both here and elsewhere. I'm rather IT literate and cant help thinking I'm simply missing something.
    Hoping you guys can help.
    Joe.

    Joseph,
I can't help but think that the issue is router related. The only thing I might change in the camera is to change the primary DNS to 192.168.0.1, although I admit it is trivial. A few questions:
Can you access the router setup page remotely if you enable that?
Have you tried pinging the FQDN to find the IP, then enter that in your browser?
Have you tried MPEG instead of MJPEG?
It sounds like you are getting to the camera since it prompts you for the Username/Password. Once you authenticate something is stopping the video stream/webpage from loading properly. I would like to see if you can access the router remotely and start dropping security settings until you can access the camera. (Turn the firewall off if necessary for testing purposes.)
    Please keep us updated.

  • Download the WVC200 Setup CD anywhere?

I have mislaid my setup wizard CD for WVC200, and now I cannot get it recovered from a reset. I can see it but cannot communicate with it. Anybody know where the CD can be downloaded from? Cannot find it anywhere on Linksys site.
    Thanks

DriverTuner can help you update the old drivers with the latest drivers for your computer and increase the ease at which you can run the latest CPU-intensive software. It will boost your PC and maximize your PC performance. http://www.drivertuner.com/
    Just do the following steps:

Step 3 Save the setup files and install the new drivers.

  • WVC200 sending tmp files

I have one WVC200 and two WVC210. The 200 keeps naming the MD-files as .tmp files, allthough the SR-files is named .asf. With the 210's this is no issue. Is it a bad/wrong setting in the setup, or could it be the surveillance program that causes this? I use one of the older versions.

Thank you for the response. That is what I thought, there is actually newer software on the Cisco.com web site for the WVC200. If you go to the link http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/type.html?mdfid=282414031&i=rs  this will allow you to download the latest firmware and monitoring software for that camera. Please be careful, the video monitoring software that you want will be version 1.2, anything newer or higher in number will not be for the WVC200 camera.
When you install this version 1.2 please uninstall any previous version to minimize the chances of it installing incorrectly.
Personally, I have always been a believer of if isn't broke don't fix it. So if everything is good, I would just hang on to the link for future reference.
If I can ever help in any way please let me know.

  • WVC210 to dark

I already had a WVC200 and decided to purchase the WVC210. The 210 is so much darker than the 200. Is there any way to make the WVC210 any lighter? My room has 1 window and when it is cloudy outside you can hardly see anything. I have tried messing with the settings, but nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance for any help given.

  • Issues after installing new router

I recently updated a router for my home-business...E3000, I don't have any issues installing it-2 desktops and 3 laptops however, my old router was also running a surveillance camera,  WVC200 and I have lost the image. When I run it with an Ethernet cable I'm able to see the image and it works(the camera)but when I tried to run it wireless, doesn't work at all, the camera is not recognizing the router or better yet, the ROUTER does not recognizes the camera.I trouble shoot it with Cisco technicians(the router) and the conclusion is that it is working properly, but they don't have any one that knows how to trouble shoot the camera or how to CONFIGURE IT so will work wireless with the router.ANY SOLUTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
    Oscar.

Hello---Your E3000 Router is a Consumer based router so it is supported by the Cisco Consumer Support Center. Your WVC200 camera is a Cisco Small Business device and is supported by our Cisco Small Business Support Center. For support on your camera you would have to call our Small Business Suppotr Center at 1-866-606-1866. Now to your problem. Your camera most likely still has the wireless settings from your old router. You will need to
access the interface of the camera and put in your new wireless settings from your new E3000 Router.  The camera has to have the same wireless settings as your new E3000 Router (same SSID,Security type). After you have the new settings in the camera you will need to disconnect the ethernet cable from the camera and then power cycle the camera and the wireless should engage on the camera. If you need assistance with this please give us a
call at our Cisco Small Business Support Center. 1-866-606-1866.

  • I need help configuring three products: WRVS4400N, WAG325N and WVC200

    Hello,
I want your help in three linksys products as mentioned below:
    WAG325N ADSL2+ Router
    WVC200 PTZ CAMERA
    WRVS4400N VPN Router
The computer connections and configuration of above linksys products which I am working with and which are connected with the above three linksys products at present are as follows:
    1) I have one server and one laptop.
    2) Laptop has two wireless adapters which I use to connect to the routers.
    3) The server is connected to the WRVS4400N Router through one of the four ethernet ports mentioned on backside of the WRVS4400N Router. The DHCP of this router is disabled by me and the router's default IP 192.168.1.1 was changed to 192.168.1.12
    4) The WRVS4400N router is connected to the Wag325N router for internet access to the server and server is connected to WRVS4400N Router as mentioned in point number 3 above.
    5) The WAG325N router is setup as per the instructions mentioned that came with the CD of this router. The only change that I have modified is the router's default IP. I have changed the default IP of WAG325N from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.13 and DHCP is enabled on this router.
The help that I want is step by step as follows:
    1) I want to configure the both routers in such a way so that I can access them from anywhere across the world i.e. remotely using internet.
    2) I have WVC200 Camera which I setup according to instructions mentioned in the CD and also configured the DDNS service. But when the " RJ45 Cable is connected " to my WAG325N router and Camera, then only the camera works properly. What I want is that after the setup is completed, I want to remove the RJ45 Cable connected from my camera to router and use the camera wirelessly from any location within the range of my above mentioned WAG325N router. I need flexibility to use my camera without cable connections from any location and any rooms of my house. I also configured the port forwarding and DDNS properly. The only problem is that if I remove the Cable after the setup of camera is finished, then the camera access is not working on LAN or internet(through DDNS). Whereas the same works on LAN and internet using the DDNS service, when the cable is physically connected to the WAG325N router. Also I want one more thing additionally other then this. I want to use this camera wirelessly by configuring the port forwarding options on both routers at a same time(i.e. simultaneously at once on WRVS4400N and WAG325N).
    3) Now as two DHCP cannot work at a same time and as my routers are connected with each other, So I have disabled the DHCP on WRVS4400N. Here I need help so that DHCP can be enabled on both at a same time. Because if the DHCP is not enabled on WRVS4400N then I have to give IP to the server which is connected with server. If I enable the DHCP then there are two DHCP's at a same time on same network and thus problems occurs in internet access to the server. So, what should I do in such a way so that I do not have to give any IP to my server and set it to automatic.
    4) This question is just for my knowledge so that I can use the above mentioned linksys purchases upto full extent possible in future. I want to know what is VPN and how is it usefull? What is the difference between VPN and VPN tunnel? How can VPN be used to access all my network resources connected with my server  in the above situation where my server is connected to WRVS4400N which in turn is connected to WAG325N?
    Thanks !
    Sincerely

    for question number 1:
you said that your main router is WAG325N, for you to remotely access the 2nd router is for you to forward the IP addr [192.168.1.12] on your first router and change its management port of your second router that is located on either the security tab or the administration tab on its User Interface
to access your first router open and Internet Explorer and enter
    http://[public IP addr]:[management port]
the PUBLIC IP or INTERNET IP is located on the status page of your router
to access your second router just change the management port to
    ex.
    http://66.77.88.99:8080 first router
    http://66.77.88.99:8081 second router
    for question number 2:
make sure that you have configured all wireless settings on both your camera and your main router WAG235N, once done save settings and power down your camera and power it back up.
    for question number 3:
for you to enable DHCP on both routers your connection can go like so...
from a regular port of your main router going to the INTERNET port of your second router [this way you can enable DHCP on both routers]. INTERNET is no problem, your cesond router will be able to get connection
    for question number 4:
    VPN - Virtual Private Network
VPN tunnel -is/are connections from router to router [gateway to gateway]
VPN is used to connect a diff network on a diff location for you to have access to the shared filed [it is like a file sharing through the internet]
for you to be able to use VPN tunnel you have to connect to a different VPN router on a diff location. In that way you can get access to the other network

  • WVC200 remove and replace

Several Linksys parts (ex: WMP54GS and WUSB54GSC) must be uninstalled before they can be installed again on the same machine.  The program is usually named Setup.exe and is located in the Utility subdirectory on the installation CD.  (This is a different setup.exe program from the main one also on the CD.)
What I'm trying to do is reinstall a WVC200 camera I stopped using over a year ago.  All my old settings were lost after doing a reformat and reinstallation of Windows XP-Pro.  Everything "seems" to be going along well with the WVC200 installation CD but it suddenly chokes reporting that it can't find my camera!
Is there a utility somewhere for removing my original WVC200 installation (as in the first paragraph)?
I'm able to access the WVC200 user screen and do a camera setup by accessing the camera's fixed IP address using Internet Explorer.  I can only do this when the camera is hard-wired and not in wireless mode.  After going through the setup option and entering my wireless information, I can't even connect any longer using Internet Explorer with the cable disconnected.
I'm pretty sure I went through this before and someone (Linksys?) provided a utility to remove my original WVC200 so that the installation CD worked once more and recognized the camera existing.
I'd sure appreciate assistance from anyone out there!
    Dave

Which firmware you are using on the Camera...?
Try to reflash/upgrade the firmware of the Camera, reset the Camera and re-configure it from scratch.Do not use CD to install the Camera...Open the setup page and configure it manually.
