WVC200 bricked after 5 days ?

Hello,
I bought a new WVC Camera with the nice PTZ feature the other day, managed to get it up and running but after deconnecting it to set it in it's final location and trying to start it up again I no longer seem to be able to connect threough any more.
So I applied a reset, reconnected it with RJ45 and it now now longer displays the ethernet LED. And indeed my router has nothing in the logs about a new device trying to connect.
A case for RMA or is my reset bogus? Insert a pin in the reset hole and count up to 10.
LEDs don't blink or anything BTW.
Tried holding reset while powering up and all LEDS will light up but then it seems to remain blocked in this state
All help much appreciated

Thanks all for your guidance.
Well RMA it will be.
Interesting experience though due to the fact that camera was purchased in US. The person I finally got through to at the Support center in NL after asking me the usual questions, would not issue me an RMA when he discovered Camera was purchased acros the pond. Needed to call the Cisco Support in US which by the way are a truly professional crowd, explained my problem and received the needed RMA by email 10 mn later with ship address => .... Netherlands
Anyway, not sure the case is closed just yet. I'll ship out this Monday and see how long it'll take to receive a new camera.

  • Why is Photostream so flakey? I got it to work after days of prodding and cursing and now it has frozen up again. Grrrrr!

And this was just between an iPhone 4S and an iPad.
Then, feeling brave I decided to add my PC. Big mistake!  I downloaded and installed the iCloud software and configured the control panel.
I waited and waited and waited but nothing. When I restarted the computer and looked at the Photostream directory it said that it was not running and I needed to go to the control panel.  I did this and tried to turn it on again. Nothing worked.  After a lot of prodding I got a warning about permissions.
I de-installed iCloud, removed all directories and re-installed it. I reset iCloud on the website. A day later it has started to work but now it is ignoring all photos on my iPhone, even those that are only a day or so old and that I actually want.
In total frustration I Google and someone recommends using Dropbox. I install this on iPad, iPhone and PC and I can't believe it; it all works and all photos are now synchronised on all devices. How easy was that?
Why can't iCloud and Photostream work like that? I have no confidence in this software and I suspect that even if it works now it will stop working in a week or so.
I am absolutely thrilled with my iPhone and iPad but I am totally turned off by this awful photo sharing software. It doesn't work properly and it is not robust. The slightest thing prevents it from working and a change of winds stops it working.  My take is that it is basically unusable, but maybe I didn't persevere enough.
My pc by the way is a very recent Dell workstation running Windows 7.

    Thanks for that.
Curiously, after days of trying to coax Photostream into life with no success, after setting up Dropbox and watching it upload the photos I looked at the Photostream directory and lo and behold some photos were also appearing. It was like Photostream had got over its sulk period and had decided to start working. It wasn't going to be upstaged by Dropbox maybe?
But you are right, when you reset Photostream it then ignores all photos on all devices before that time.  I find this frustrating as I want to get all the photos out of my iPhone and iPad and backed up on my PC. Photostream doesn't seem to support this. It would be great if there was a once-off sync function in Photostream.
if Photostream worked seamlessly this wouldn't be an issue but it clearly doesn't.
I've noticed Dropbox also has an annoying feature that it won't automatically update the photos without going into the Dropbox app whereas Photostream does do this automatically - when it is having a good day that is.
I guess there are other ways of getting stuff out of my iPhone and iPad but I am a newbie to Apple and need to explore this more. All suggestions welcome.

  • I lost tons of metadata (pin/map locations for places visited). it just disappeared after days of work.  any ideas on recovery?

I lost tons of metadata (pin/map locations for places visited) on aperture after days of work entering it (over 400 locations visited). any ideas how to recover it? i can't find it anywhere.

  • IPad 3 bricked after IOS update, will not restore through iTunes

    Hi,
I have an iPad 3 wifi/3g model that bricked after an IOS update 7.0.6. The update failed at about 70% (Apple Logo with progress line on screen) and rebooted into recovery mode. I've tried doing a restore through iTunes mulitple times and even looked at jailbreaking it but no luck. It always fails during the update and I have tried muliple computers (Windows and Mac) Different networks (Home/Work) but the issue is still there.
The device won't go into DFU mode and in itunes it shows the serial number as n/a like the iPad has no software on it at all. I've tried everything I can thing of and I've had plenty of experiences recoverying and restoring IOS devices in the past. Tinyumberlla and other utils won't get it out of recovery mode and now iTunes won't even try to load the firmware back on the device, it just fails after extracting software.
I'm thinking its now a hardware issue, does anyone have another solution to try?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • Linksys WRT320N Problems. Keep losing speed day after day

    Hello,
I have a nasty problem and I absolutly got no clue on how to fix it.
A couple of days ago I installed my new WRT320N router in combination with 50mbit speed from Ziggo (netherland internet provider)
At day one speedtest.net always gives 47/48 mbit down and 5 mbit up.
But after a few days the router keeps dropping and dropping and dropping till about 2mbit.
Now I've resetted the router and also rebooted the modem for new software etc but still nothing works.
Ive also tried to reset the router to Fabricage settings and that worked .... until it went lower day after day.
I also took some tips from this forum which was MTU setting to 1350 on manually instead of 1500 automatic and that worked... until some days passed and again ive got 10mbit today.
I'm clueless and in desperate need of your help!
What setting keeps dropping my router speed from 50mbit to almost zero in a couple of days each time?
    Thank you in advance!
    Rens Voeten
Edit Each time i switch the MTU to 1500 and then again to 1350 makes the speedtest.net meter jump up to 50mbit again like crazy.
But if i want to leave it, it will decrease again day after day.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Login into the Linksys setup page and Click on Subtab Advanced Wireless Settings under Wireless tab...Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
If the above settings doesn't works then try to reflash/upgrade the firmware of the router.Download the firmware from www.linksys.com/downloads and save it on the desktop. Now go to the linksys GUI and click on the Administrator tab and then subtab "firmware upgrade" to upgrade the firmware.

  • 5510L JetPack dead after day 8

This death of the Verizon 5510L JetPack after day 8 has happened on several of these units. We send these out in the field to our customers and 8 days after they use them, they are dead. Done. Kaput. No life. They are plugged into the back of a device that has full power 24/7, so there is absolutely no reason for these to be dead. Is anyone experiencing these issues? Also, anyone have any feedback on the random resetting/shutting down behavior exhibited by these JetPacks? 5510L.

        Barely71,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you have been having with the 5510L. It sounds like you have had more than one device do the same thing. What you have described sounds like a known issue solved by a software update. Try pulling the battery out of the device, wait 30 seconds, reinsert the battery and try powering it on. If you still cannot power on the device would need to be replaced. If the device does power on, make sure the software is up to date: http://vz.to/1nGx3rE .
Should you need to replace the device make sure that once activated and initially connected that the software update is completed.

  • Iphone 5s bricked the day after I got it...

I just bought an Iphone yesterday and have hardly even used it. A couple of hours ago I downloaded the latest update for the phone. Seemingly randomly, I try to take my phone out of sleep mode and it wouldn't work. I try powering my phone back on and it also wouldn't work. Itunes also does not recognize my iphone. I'm extremely frustrated and might end up not buying an apple product again. Any help on what I should do here?

If it doesn't power on, the computer will not see it.
Plug it in to charge for at least 30 minutes.
Press & hold both Home & Power fro at least 15 seconds to see if ot starts up.
If not, take it back to place of purchase or an Apple store.

  • E4200v2 bricked after 1 month of use.

I purchased an e4200v2 to replace my old WRT160n which I have been using for years with no issues. Last night the e4200 crashed on me when I went to reset the router I noticed the CISCO light was blinking very slowly and I had no network connection. I power cycled the router and still no connection so I hit factory reset button. Nothing happened. Did a 30/30/30 reset nothing happened. At this point I have a 34 day old plastic brick on my desk and I'm back to using my old WRT160N. Any advice on how to unbrick this router?

Hi. Try the steps below. I found this one online but I cannot remember anymore the link.
Reboot the router three (3)times to restore to its last known working firmware.
Step 1: Reboot the router by pulling the power cable.
Step 2: Power ON the router and observe the Cisco LED until the light becomes solid.
If the light is not stabilized after 60 seconds, repeat Steps 1 and 2.

  • Is my Iphone 4 bricked after updating to IOS 5

Well ive updated my iphone 4 to ios 5 and everything was ok untill a couple of days later. I restarted my phone and was getting the solid apple logo and that was it. After pressing home and on/off buttons it went off.
Now i dont get nothing at all, Not a thing. Ive tried getting it in DFU mode for restore and not getting no signs of life at all. Ive literally been trying to do this all day and hopefully someone can help me here. I cant see how a phone just goes off and shows no sign of life just like that, No water damage or anything else like that has happened.
Ive also left it on charge for a couple of hours even thou the battery was at least 50% charged.
Any help will be great, Thanks

Connect your iPhone to iTunes. If it doesn't come up in the sidebar for a good amount of time, start holding the power and home buttons. Count down from 10. Then, release the power button and coninue holding the home button for up to 30 seconds. If it doesn't come out of recovery or DFU (which can sometimes make it appear bricked), continue this process. KiltedTim's answer is also helpful and can sometimes take care of this problem.

  • New IPhone is a Brick - after new Software Update

Last night I synced my new IPhone 3G that I got this past July after lining up for 2 hours. Love it! However, it's been turned into a brick.
I synced with iTunes 7, using the correct cable with no dock, and it mentioned that there is an update for the iPhone software (2.1). So, duh, I applied it.
When it was done, the phone was dark, so I started it and got the image of the usb cable and a iTunes image, and iTunes said:
"iTunes must check the iPhone software update server to identify this device..."
    I clicked "check"
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes"
I clicked "ok" - then clicked "restore".
"Automatically checking for iTunes and iPhone updates is disabled. Would you like iTunes to check for a new iPhone software update?"
    I clicked "check".
"Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone "iPhone" to his factory settings?...."
    I clicked "Restore and Update"
    "extracting software....preparing iPhone for restore...."
"the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (13)."
    TOAST
I loved this phone, and now it's a brick!
    Will apple help?

I had a similiar issue last night when upgrading my just purchased iPhone to 2.01. Itunes downloaded the new update but during the install I received a message stating "the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)." I tried this 4 times and got the same results. My iPhone had a dark screen with icons of a cable and itunes on it. Well I called apple support waited for 30 minutes to get to a techinican. After explaining my issue he put me on hold for another 15 minutes then I mysteriously was transfered to AT&T. I was hot to say the least. I WAS able to fix this on my own. I originally was using an imac with iTunes 7.71 on it. I had a PC laptop with iTunes 7.70 (not 7.71). I plugged the iPhone directly to the PC (Not a USB hub). I was successful with the upgrade doing this. I upgraded 2 other iPhones that day and received the error 6 code. But after a second try they went through. I think there is an issue with iTunes 7.71 causing the failures during updates. Try to get your hands on a copy of iTunes pre 7.71. And ensure you are connecting the phone directly to the computer.

  • IPhone bricked after trying to upgrade

Ok so I had 1st gen iPhone that was updated to v2.0. It worked ok, but last night my machine says there is an update. I click to install and I didn't pay attention to it because I was packing. Anyway I come back and it says my install failed and I have to restore my phone. I click to restore my phone and it attempts to update but then fails with a "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)". Now I have a bricked phone but after work the next day I take it to the Apple store, one of the specialists was kind enough to restore it back to normal. I am thinking back in business I just need to restore my old settings, etc.
Unfortunately I get home and I try to restore again and it gives me the exact same error as last night. I tried uninstalling/resintalling itunes and quicktime but it still has the same problem. I need help! I would try the phone support but I don't have a phone now because this one is a paperweight. Please tell me it is fixable!

I have had the exact thing happening the past 2 days, but I have not been to the Apple Store.. that was my plan tomorrow. But it sounds like it will be a wasted trip! I have spent hours and hours searching for anything online with my issue, and your's is the ONLY one I have found. So thank you. My phone is recognized in iTunes as "in recovery mode.." and I click the Restore and it comes up with the same error message. Have tried it on two different Macs with exact results, each separately downloading the update (thought the download might be corrupt, but no).

  • WRT110 Bricked after fw update to 1.0.07

My wrt110 started disconnecting twice and even three times a day for the past week or so.  After getting tired of it I decided to look for a fw update.  Hold and behold there was, from 1.0.05 I was going to upgrade to 1.0.07.  Well halfway through the process using the web-console connected via ethernet & ie8 the freaking upgrade stopped at 80% and the browser page went blank.  Immediately I knew I was probably out of luck, looked at the wrt110 to see a blinking power light.  I've done all the resets in the world inluding the so called 30-30-30 to no avail.
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance.)

As the power light on the router is blinking, the router seems to be bricked.Try this link to Unbrick the router and try to upgrade the firmware again on the router.

  • IPhone 4 Bricked after updating to iOS5

So, the day iOS5 update came out for the iPhones/iPods/iPads I was egar to get it downloaded to update my software on my iPhone 4. I noticed they had an update for iTunes so I went ahead and updated my iTunes before I started updating my iPhone 4.  After waiting for my iTunes to update, I then downloaded the new iOS5 update...ran a backup on my iPhone 4. After I updated iTunes, downloaded the new iOS5 and backed my phone up, I then plugged my iPhone 4 to my computer to run the iOS5 update...the update successfully updated. I used it for 2 days working perfectly. When I was traveling last Saturday, I pulled the notification center down to check all my notifications and my screen turned off.  I've tried to hard-reboot it...everthing, it had completely bricked on me! I noticed that my screen was still on, but it was black. I then plugged my iPhone 4 in to iTunes and iTunes recognized my phone for about seconds then an error message popped up saying that iTunes can't recieve any data on my iphone becasue there is an error. I called apple and they said bring it in...I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem? Or does anyone know a solution besided taking it to apple? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you, Justin!
