WVC200 - email alert on hotmail/gmail

Hi,
I have WVC200 installed at home. I am able to view it over the internet. But need to configure the email alert on motion detection.
On the setup page - under Options
What do I enter against the following if I want to receive email alerts on gmail.
What should be the outgoing mail server details?
SMTP mail server :__________ port: ____ (default is 25)
Do I select "My mail server required authentication" , user name : ___and password: ___
Is there anything else required to be done for email alerts(apart from send to email and subject)?

Import Contacts from emails like hotmail, gmail,...

Do you kno wany functions atht permit to import contacts from
main emails (yahoo.com, hotmail, gmail, ...) if the user accepts to
give his user and password .
it is used to send invitations to diffrent users. A lot of
sites begin to use that, it is completely viral and I found scripts
for .net, c++, php, vb, .. but not for ColdFusion.
It is comletely actaul to have this fucntion available since
concurrent use it and I don't find any way to do it in Coldfusion
except by using cfx_http5 but is does not use the API of the emails
providers and is not easy to support( if the email change his
design, the cfx_http5 function has to be corrected each time).
I think it could help a lot of users to have this function
available for Cold Fusion.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it isn't possible, I was
just mentioning that you might want to consider another option,
giving the user a bit more control.
I haven't seen any CF based solutions for what you are
describing, but If you've found scripts in c++, consider turning
that into cfx_tag. If you can find a Java based solution, that
might be easier to integrate by installing the class/jar file and
using cfobject.
Screen scraping is probably the only option unless the target
service provides an easily consumable source such as XML or through
an API. In the case of a Yahoo Premium account, you can export
contact information, such as to a CSV. You may also have to develop
the authentication mechanism which might require the use of an API
key along with some encryption mechanism (usually MD5) to encode
the api key, userid, and password to obtain an authentication
token.
As far as "MySpace is doing it", there might be some behind
the scenes agreements that have been worked out both from a
technical as well as a legal aspect. I would suggest that you
contact each service that you are planning on supporting with this
feature directly. The response you get back should give you a
pretty clear indication on what is allowed, assuming you can get
past the "Customer Support" screeners.
You mentioned that what you are attempting is temporary in
nature, but can the user be 100% convinced that it is temporary?
Unless the user has 100% access to your system to verify that the
information hasn't been kept in a log or database, they can't be
sure. Case in point, Disney is a well respected company but
recently one of their employees was caught in an Identity Theft
Scheme. (

A user's permission doesn't mean that you haven't violated
the services "TOS" . While there are coding applications in other
langages that can perform email harvesting, that doesn't
necessarily mean that they are legal just because they exist.
Here's an excerpt from the Yahoo Developer docs on the Mail
API (

. Item 2, while it specifically states "User Data", the
contents of the address book could be easily construed as user
data.
1. You must use the Browser Based Authentication API to
enable access to the user's Yahoo! account through your
Application.
2. You may not use the Yahoo! Mail Web Service API to mine or
scrape user data from the user's Yahoo! account.
3. You may not use the Yahoo! Mail Web Service API to
recreate a mimicked version of Yahoo! Mail on your site.
4. You may not use the Yahoo! Mail Web Service API to display
the user's Yahoo! account information in a third party email
client.

Prime Infastructure Email alerts for example via Gmail ??

I am using PI 2.1. Is it possible to e mail notification also set up a Gmail account? The client environment I have no Exchanche own server.

Just an update for anyone who may stumble on this issue and have the same problem. In version 1.4 of Prime Infrastructure if you change your virtual domain in the top right and then go to alerts and choose email options you have a completely new list you can set up. Doing this you can do a root folder for a company or district you are providing for and setup email alerts for only that teir and bellow of access. This way they only see alerts from APs and devices they have access too. Meanwhile you can leave the root teir to email yourself and then separate them out via inbox rules as desired.
This may be possible on older versions of Prime, but I did not notice the email alerts being an option while under the other domains until 1.4.

interesting that my gmail account does work perfectly.

this may or may not help - but give it a try. On a forum some were reporting that talk21 is now under the yahoo umbrella. below are the steps this use listed. (This was an android forum, but the email settings should be the same. In short it looks like their server names have changed. An existing account may have simply been forwarded - but if you are reinstalling, it may want a clean install to the right servers.) Pay particular attention to the server names and port settings. (this thread was started based on a discussion of Imap vs pop - you are already an Imap person - so ignore that part)

why settle for pop3, when IMAP works with talk21 and not only does mail get pushed out faster with IMAP, but when you click refresh it will be received faster than pop3. The other advantage is subfolders are also supported with IMAP but cant be seen with POP3. This mail feature works with my android eclair & hero phone and the settings are exactly the same for win mobiles also (not tested). The mail setting up roadmap is the same from what i can remember once in the mail feature for win mobi.
This is what you need to do to setup Talk21 email with IMAP.
Incoming server settings
IMAP server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 143
Security type - none
Outgoing Server settings
SMTP server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 25
Security type - none Also important note - Enable 'require sign-in'
and enter your talk21 username and password The End...works a treat for me p.s. Its only taken me 3 years to work it out with win mobile and recently with android. Finally got it to work...hope this helps all the talk21 users out there. if there are any other similar posts out there with no answer...dont forget to mention my name when passing this post around.

How do I stop calendar from emailing alerts to me.

This was never an issue on ios 7, but as soon as I upgraded to ios 8 I started getting a ton of new emails alerting me to upcoming events.
I use Google calendar, and I have Google email me alerts for certain events, and I still want those. But I do not want the ones coming from Apple Looking at Google calendar. I am not sure if these new emails are coming from my phone or my Yosemite imac.
Thoughts?

i am getting getting three emails from each event. One from Google, and two from Apple devices. I suspect I am getting one email from my iPhone and one from my imac. It happened just now, and the instant my iPhone popped up an alert, I received one of the Non Google emails. About thirty seconds after that I received a second Apple email.
By Apple email, btw, I mean an email I believe was generated by an Apple device. All the emails actually come from my gmail address.

Yes, I now notice that gmail account has no "push"...that's where the problem is! I have a second account but I forwarded it to gmail too, so no alerts at all under the 15min for both accounts! I do regret my BB on this matter..!
Strnage I don't have the problem on my iPad2 with same settings..

Email alert only occurs when I open email

My first iphone. User-friendly, my a**! You call being forced to login 4 times with a password that is required to have a minimum of 489 characters (155 of which must be CAPS), 85 lower case, 141 numbers and 108 special characters??? I clicked at least 30 OK boxes to get to this forum and I'm too ****** to worry about the stupidity that my email alert only occurs when I open the damned email. Gee, thanks iphone, I'd never know I was opening the email I was opening if you didn't ring that bell!
What I'd really like is notification that an email has arrived without having to log into my phone and open the program!

As for exaggerating, both my iphone and my desktop require multiple logins after asking questions. 4 logins for my desktop to get to this page. Fine, it's not a minimum of 489 characters. I believe in complicated passwords, but not being forced to use one in specific format and then being asked 4 times in a row for full log in. Excuse the **** out of me if that happens to make me angry. It amazes me how the people who believe in Darwinian evolution are always fighting against the concept of "survival of the fittest."
I had also just done the same thing on my iphone, which was worse because of the limitations of the touch screen.

How to disable email alert tone on E71

I've just upgraded the firmware on my E71 and now I'm going through the process of setting everything up again. I've reinstalled Nokia email and it retrieves ok from gmail. However I cannot turn off the email alert tone in the General profile.
If I go into Tones there is no 'Off' or 'Silent' option for the email alert. I'm sure there was with the old firmware. It used to give a brief vibrate but no sound which suited me fine.
I suppose I could select the Silent profile as this does have a 'Off' option for the email alert. It seems a bit of a kludge though. Am I missing something? This is driving me nuts.

Problem with E63 email alerts

Hi all,
I have an E63 smartphone with 2 email addresses set up, one via imap and one via Gmail.
When i recieve a new email, the phone will vibrate, flash the alert light around the navi key, and show the '@' sign in the top right corner of the display, but it does not show an alert at the bottom of the home screen like it does for new sms messages.
It used to do this when i first set up the phone.
I have ensured that email notifications for both addresses are enabled. The home screen is set to active.
Also, often the '@' alert sign is shown in the top right of the display even when there are no new emails.
I have tried everything i can think of and still I can't be notified properly when a new email comes in.
Any help is appreciated.

Try this, it worked for me.
I set up my gmail account through nokia email. Now Nokia email is 'Email 1' and gmail through imap 'Email 2'.
Under Home screen applications I enabled both email 1 & 2 notifications.
Then go into 'Menu' > 'Communications' > 'Messaging' > highlight Gmail and press the options button, go into 'Settings' > 'Email' > 'Gmail' > 'Automatic retrieval'.
Enable automatic retrieval and adjust the other retrieval settings.
Your home screen should have your email notifications for both gmail through Nokia email and imap setup. Haven't disabled 'Email 1 notifications' so Nokia email still shows.
Hopefully this works on your phone.

WVC210 - Cannot get email alerts

I successfully set up my WVC210 wirelesss camera, but I couldn't get get the email alerts to work. I understand it will not work with some emails systems like gmail. Does anybody know which type of email will work or how I can get gmail to work?

In the mail settings the default Outgoing Mail Server for GMail is smtp.gmail.com
Did you have gmail in your iPhone before? Or are you trying to set one up?

I can't email alerts with calendars

At the moment of setting up the an email alert, calendars does not allows me to set an email. There is no email and calendars opens a pop up window error saying there is no email.

I just figured it out! I set the email account I am using to try to send the photos as my default account by going to General > Settings > Mail > scrolling down to Default Account. Mine was set as my iCloud account. I switched it to gmail and now I can send photos.

VIP email alerts/notifications

I have an iPhone 5, I have a VIP contact setup in my Mailboxes, however, my alert do not show up when a VIP contact emails me. I don't see the email in the VIP inbox unless I refresh my mail then it shows the number of emails and then finally the alert pops up after I have already opened up the email. That just defeats the purpose of notifications if it takes me having to refresh my mail just to see that I have VIP mail. Is there something that I set up wrong?

Now I have my gmail settings as: Notification Center: ON, Alert Style: None, Badge App Icon: ON, New Mail Sound:Ding, Show Preview: OFF and View in Lock Screen: ON. Now I don't have the GMAIL alerts set because even though the VIP is emailing me to my gmail I only want notifications when they email me not from every email I receive from others which is why I set the alerts on the VIP folder and not gmail. Not sure how the VIP folder is attached to the GMAIL. Hope this is making sense.
