WVC54GCA Cam blinkling - no way to stop

My WVC54GCA has stopped working after I erroneously changed the Security setting (from WPA/WPA2 to none). now the camera led is blinking, the setup wizard cannt find the camera and the reset button has no effect. I have also tried to connect it to the modem (Alice box in France) by ethernet but does not work either.
I just cannot have my camera online anymore and access it by any mean.
Any idea someone?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

are you using the original power adapter for the device? a blinking powerlight may sometimes indicate that the device is not getting enough power supply.
if you've properly reset the device, and still not getting it to respond in any way, it may already be bricked.

hello, my eyesight issue happens occasionally, from time to time i run multiple apps that use the isight camera. when i close each app the isight camera's green light is still active. When that happens the only way to stop the isight camera is to reboot.
Is there a way to use activity monitor to identify and kill the process controlling the isight? My apologies in advance if this sounds windows (task manager) like.
    Thanks

com/kb/HT2411: Your camera can be used by only one application at a time.
(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

  • I accidentally hit "download all" in itunes on my iphone 5. Is there a way to stop this without going thru each song individually and pausing it?

I am new to the iphone, just got my 1st one today!
I was just going to let the songs download, but shortly into it I got a message saying I had used 50% of data plan for MONTH, so I panicked and was just pausing each song as it started downloading.  There's several hundered songs.  Then I got a message saying I had used 75% data!  I turned on my airplane mode to stop everything.  Is there an easy way to stop the songs from ALL downloading without going thru each one individually?  I'm not very tech saavy, so please be nice and use small words...  Thanks.

Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album.  These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer.  If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.  To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar.  Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices.

As we were instructed I attempted to download the new Adobe Cloud to replace Adobe CS6 as it is about to expire.  It had been downloading for about an hour when I lost power due to a storm. It was only off 20 minutes. When it came back up it had stopped because my internet of course was also off. Now I have tried to do it again and it tells me “that number has already been approved and uploaded” However, it has not because I do not have the cloud programs yet. I still have my CS6 but I am not sure what to do from here. Can you assist with this please?

After admittedly only a quick read the one thing you don't say is how you are trying to make this move.  Most people with moving library issues do it the wrong way.  Plenty of web sites tell you how to do it the wrong way.
If the iTunes application is started before the drive with the library is fully mounted and awake iTunes will revert back to the internal drive.

  • Any way to stop iPhoto from launching every time iPhone syncs??

The subject posting says it all: Is there any way to stop iPhoto from launching every time I synch my iPhone? I've clicked this and that, checked this and that. I must be missing something so if someone could help, I thank you in advance.

OR ... delete the photos from the phone after they were imported. If you want those photos to be on the phone, set them to import during a sync. Getting them out of the iPhone's "camera roll" album is the key here.
An easy way is to set up a iPhoto album called "for iPhone" or something. When your new photos are initially imported into iPhoto they will be in the "last roll" smart album. Select them from there and drag them into your "for iPhone" album and make sure that album is selected to sync. Either check the "delete photos after importing" box in iPhoto or delete them manually from your "camera roll" album on your iPhone after the sync. iPhoto will not automatically open until you take new photos.
Remember ... setting Image capture to not open iPhoto, as well as the setting iPhoto to delete photos after importing ... will apply to your camera or memory card device as well.

  • My camera all of the sudden stopped working. What is going on?

My camera all of the sudden stopped working. What is going on?

if by camera you are referring to iSight, here is how to troubleshoot:
    Built-in iSight cameras
These steps are for iSight cameras that are built into a computer, such as the iMac G5 (iSight) or later, the MacBook, or MacBook Pro.
See if the issue is application-specific.
Try another application (iSight works with applications like iChat, PhotoBooth, and iMovie HD 6) to see if the iSight camera exhibits the same behavior in all applications. If it only happens in one application, try reinstalling that application.
See if the issue is user-specific.
Test your iSight camera in another user account. If the issue only occurs in one user, the issue would be isolated to user settings.
Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight
Check System Profiler (in the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder). Under the USB header, check to see if the iSight camera is detected.
    Reset SMC or PMU
Reset your computer's SMC or PMU, and then check System Profiler again. (SMC reset instructions for iMac G5 (iSight), Intel-based iMacs; PMU reset instructions for MacBook and MacBook Pro.)
If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
    Standalone iSight cameras
The instructions in this section apply if you have an iSight camera that is not built into your computer but attaches to the computer via a FireWire cable.
Make sure the cable is completely plugged in.
Incomplete cable connections are the most common cause of hardware problems. Follow these quick instructions to make sure your iSight cable is completely plugged in.If your iSight camera continues to function improperly, continue on to the steps below.
Turn the computer and the camera off.
Unplug the FireWire cable from your computer and the camera.
    Wait a few seconds.
Firmly, without forcing, plug the cable back in to the camera and the computer.
Caution: FireWire ports are keyed so the FireWire cable can only be inserted one way. Make sure you are inserting the FireWire cable into the FireWire port in the correct orientation.
    Restart your computer.
If the green light on top of the iSight is not lit, turn on the camera by gently twisting the lens.
    Launch iChat AV.
See if a different FireWire port works.
Some Macs have more than one FireWire port. If your computer has another FireWire port, disconnect the iSight camera from the current port and plug it into the other one. Restart your computer and test the camera before continuing to step three.
Check to see if other FireWire devices work.
If you have another FireWire device, such as a video camera or an external hard drive, try plugging it into your computer to see if it works. If your other FireWire devices work, this means that your computer's FireWire port is working correctly. If your other FireWire devices don't work, there may be an issue with your computer. Contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance.
Determine if there is an incompatibility with another FireWire device.
If more than one FireWire device is connected to your computer, there may be an incompatibility between two of the devices. To rule this out, disconnect all other FireWire devices from the computer, including external hard drives, CD/DVD drives, other cameras, and FireWire-based networking equipment, such as hubs and repeaters. If your iSight camera works normally when you remove other FireWire devices, plug them back in one at a time to isolate the cause of the issue.
Make sure the FireWire cable is good.
Follow these steps to test the FireWire cable:Information about your iSight camera should appear in the FireWire Information field. If you see the iSight camera in this field, your cable is good. Once you've confirmed the cable you are using is good, use it to plug your iSight into your computer. If the green light on the top of the camera does not light up immediately (within a second), there may be an issue with your camera. Fill out an iSight Service Request to have your camera repaired.
Important: Do not send your iSight camera for repair until you have tried each troubleshooting step.If the FireWire cable that came with your iSight camera didn't work, try another FireWire cable that you know works. If this cable works, there is an issue with your iSight's FireWire cable. If your camera is in the limited warranty period, fill out an iSight Service Request to receive a replacement cable.
Choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.
Click More Info. System Profiler opens.
In the System Profiler window, click on the Devices and Volumes option.
Click the disclosure triangle, if necessary, in the FireWire Information area.
Check to see if there is an issue with your camera.
If information about your iSight appears in System Profiler but the camera still does not work, follow these steps:Video from your iSight camera should appear on screen. If the screen is blue or black, there may be an issue with the camera. Fill out an iSight Service Request to have your camera repaired.
    Open iChat AV.
Choose Preferences from the iChat menu.
    Click the Video button.
Twist the front of the iSight camera lens to open the iris barrier. The green light on the camera turns on when the iris barrier is open.

  • I recently updated the software on my ipad2 to 5.0.1 and when I send a message via "chat" it shows on all the iPhones associated with my account (my sisters, my husbands, etc) is there a way to stop that?

I recently updated the software on my ipad2 to 5.0.1 and when I send a message via "chat" it shows on all the iPhones associated with my account (my sisters, my husbands, etc) is there a way to stop that?

If you have been using your phone as recommended, you should have minimal data loss from the inability to restore from a backup.
Contacts and calendars should be synched to a computer application like Outlook or Address Book (or a cloud service like Google Contacts or iCloud).  The update process does NOT affect these computer applications so your contacts and calendars should be safe and sound in the application ready for synching back to your phone.
Same for photos.  It is recommended that photos be imported to your computer as soon as possible after taking them (just as you would import them from any other camera) for storage, archival and safekeeping.  Again, your photos should be safe and sound on your computer.
If you've not been using your computer as recommended, you've learned a very hard lesson, I'm afraid.

  • Is there a way of stopping the battery from charging?

    Dear Apple Community,
Recently I installed iStat Menus and found that, over the course of this year, my Macbook's charging capacity has dropped 5%. I know this isn't a massive number, but battery performance has become a concern for me. I use my Macbook as a desktop replacement, on the main. It's sitting on a mStand, connected to a large monitor on my desk. I use my Macbook to play games, surf the internet, do work and all that good stuff - basically, I use it for everything. I rarely use the Macbook without it being plugged in. I read on the Apple website that they do not recommend leaving the Macbook on charge permanently and that I should use it on battery at least one a month. As I use my Macbook as a desktop replacement, I don't actually have a lot of opportunity to do this.
My question to you, the community, is: is there a way of stopping the battery from charging, either with the use of an app or a physical device? Ideally, I would love to have my power plugged in BUT only used when the battery drops below 10%. Is this possible with an app?
On the other hand, am I just worrying about nothing? Will my battery be damaged further if I leave the Macbook charging permanently?
    Thanks for your help!
    Jeremy Reid

Ideally, I would love to have my power plugged in BUT only used when the battery drops below 10%. Is this possible with an app?
The charging characteristics are handled in firmware.  There is no app that would be able to do this.  You actually would not want to do this anyway.  Regularly discharging your battery to 10% will greatly decrease the life of your battery.  While it is true that you should not use your system exclusively plugged in, allowing it to run on battery a few hours a week should be fine.  Letting the battery regularly run down to (or below) 10% will cause you to use up cycles more quickly than is necessary (thereby reducing the life of your battery).  It's really a only a matter of disconnecting your Magsafe connector once in a while.
Leaving it plugged in does not result in it being charged "permanently".  It will charge until it is full and then charging will stop.  It will only begin recharging when it reaches about 95%.

  • After I watch a podcast I delete it. When I go back in the next day it shows 500-600 episodes I have to delete manually. So 2 questions....  Is there a way to stop this from happening and is there a way to delete all. This is getting frustrating.

After I watch a podcast I delete it. When I go back in there are 500-600 episodes and I have to delete each one manually. Is there a way to stop this from happening or is there a way to delete all at once. It's getting very frustrating.

Had all these issues.  Bit the bullet and downloaded the Downcast App ($1.99).  Much better expereince and a lot more features.  Sad.

Usual cause: printing at the wrong aspect ratio for the image - trying to print 5 x 3 in the shape of a 6 x 4 for instance.

  • Is there a way to stop .oam files from previewing as previously placed files in Muse CC?

I'm placing a new .oam file in a new website I'm creating in Muse but it previews as a previous .oam file that I used in a previous website. When preview the page on a browser it's fine but it's making it hard to place the .oam file in the correct position. Is there a way to stop this from happening so it previews correctly in Muse?

If you're using Safari as your web browser go to "Safari -> Preferences...", select "General" from the toolbar and uncheck the "Open safe files after downloading" box.
Other browsers should have a similar setting in their prefs.

  • Any way to stop auto shared volumes from opening in finder when booting?

Leopard 10.5.8, but has been happening since at least 10.4.x...I have auto mounts setup in my user preferences, the auto mount fine, but the automatically open up too...makes it very annoying having to close all windows every time I boot the system...we have multiple Mac Pros running both Leopard and Snow Leopard...is there any way to stop the opening of the shares when I boot? maybe an applescript or something? thanks.

there are some fancy solutions to this using autofs or /etc/fstab but a less involved method might be by using applescript. open Applescript editor (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and paste the following in it
    mount volume "afp://nas.ip.address/path-to-share"
add a line like that for each share you are mounting.
save the script as an application and add it to your login items. on the first try it will ask you to enter user name and password if your shares have any. enter those and check the box to save it in the keychain. it won't ask again. this will mount those shares without opening separate finder windows.

  • Is there a way to stop and then resume an ipod video conversion process?

I am trying to convert videos to play on my new iPod Classic. The conversion process is painfully slow. I need to move the computer. Is there a way to stop the conversion process and then resume it later where you left off? The only way I have been able to figure it out is to put the laptop to sleep and then open it up later to resume. This is a problem too as I have an external USB drive hanging off the side. Any ideas?
Thanks all in advance for your help.

AFAIk you can just uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall. The profile will not be deleted. If you want to make sure, however, make a backup of your profile folder first.
Read up on "backup", e.g. here : http://email.about.com/od/mozillathunderbirdtips/qt/et_backup_prof.htm
(google is your friend :9 )
P.S. _ Matter of fact you should regularly backup your data (e.g. your thunderbirdprofile) to some place different so as not to loose it all, if a thunderbird-bug/virus/windows-failure/Layer8-Problem corrupts your data.

  • Apple:  Give me a way to stop TV downloads on iTunes, or I stop buying shows on my AppleTV.  That simple.   I'm tired of automatic downloads filling my hard drive every time I open iTunes on my laptop.

I'm tired of automatic downloads filling my hard drive every time I open iTunes on my laptop.  Tonight I had to go to iTunes to verify my payment info - even though I'd already done that two days ago - and before I can even access the iTunes Store, iTunes starts downloading 44 TV shows that I've purchased over the last few months on my AppleTV; before I could completely stop it, it had entirely filled up my hard drive - 180 GB.  There's NO reason there isn't a way to stop auto-downloads of TV shows - every other type of media has the ability to stop auto-downloads, and given that I have an AppleTV (for now!), why in pasta's name would I want to load them onto my laptop?!

We are all itunes users just like you.
