WVC54GCA EU

I have upgrade my WVC54GCA EU to firmware version 1.24 but now I have problem with connection, the camera is working fine after startup but after about 1 hour, I lost connection. maybe it is the new firmware.
I can't find the old firmware.
Does anybody knows where I can find this?
WVC54GCA EU V1.00R22 Firmware
Please help me,

As you upgraded the firmware for WVC54GCA..I would suggest you to reset the camera and reconfigure it from the scratch as it is advisable to reset the device after upgrading the firmware.

  • WVC54GCA: Video No Longer Displays on Windows 7

I cannot get the video from my WVC54GCA web cam to display on my Windows 7 box; neither the Web page nor the camera utility will display the video. This began when I ran Windows Update a couple months back. Recently I rebuilt my entire system, but I'm still having the same problem.  Any suggestions?

When you rebuilt your entire computer system did you also uninstall/reinstall the camera's software, then reset and reconfigure the unit? You may also connect a computer directly to the camera and check if you can access it via Ethernet connection? You can also try using another computer to properly isolate this. I found some links that might help you get it up and running again:

  • Problem with WVC54GCA

    Hi.
    I use Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit and a WVC54GCA camera.
If I will look at the camera's pictures, Windows 7 wants to install ActiveX.
    I let it do it.
But as I chose the install it, I get a message:
"Windows has blocked this software, because it cannot verify the Publisher.
I rebooted and switched off the signature.
But had not luck with it.
At last there is a square where the picture should be in, and in the square there is a red cross in the upper most
    left corner.
What can I do to get rid of this problem _

I didn't understand. You successfully installed ActiveX? I had this problem with activeX install but I resolved by setting PC to any date in 2008 and after that I could install this activeX. There is a problem with certificate valability for this activeX.

  • WVC54GCA setup won't take WEP key

Hi - I'm setting up this Linksys WVC54GCA Wireless-G Monitoring Camera and can't get it to take my WEP settings. The setup screen says, after you select 128 bit WEP, to leave the passphrase field empty and enter the WEP key on the next screen. When you hit enter you get an error saying that the WEP key should be 26 digits and and you cannot continue!
If I turn WEP off and do it without security it all works fine, so how am I supposed toenter the WEP key? Seem like a bug. Endless loop!
    hanks
    Mike

Hey just had the same problem as you and found the way around it.  It looks like the Wizard has a bug in it that you have to use the Pass phrase not the pass key.
The way around it is to use the web interface, use the IP address that has been assigned to the camera as the web address in your browser, you can see this in the wizard or on your wireless router.
all the settings to manage the wifi can be found there, you need to use that area to manage everything else for the camera anyway.
You may need to reset the camera, there is a little button under the camera, use a pen and hold it in for a slow count of 10.

  • WVC54GCA appears dead - now what?

I have a WVC54GCA that has been providing me with good service for almost a year and a half. All of a sudden it stopped responding.  I took it off the network, did a power-off reset, did a reset via the reset button, let it sit unconnected and without power for 24 hours, and... nothing.  Not even the flashing blue light when I connect it to power. I checked the AC adaptor with a voltmeter and it is OK.
It's out of warranty so there is no hope there.
Any suggestions to revive this, or is it destined for the recycle bin?
    Paul

I register just to thx the OP that I did what you did, replace the power supply and it works, I been using this cam since 2008, all is well, just 1 day it went down, who know it was the power.

thanks scrooge , i have set up the router every way imaginable , dhcp, static,  port forwarded, reset several times, upgraded firmware, changed to every channel there is and it still  disconnects and connects. i have had linksys network devices for 8 or 9 years that worked flawlessly.

  • Need confirmation that my rtsp streaming settings for the WVC54GCA are correct

So I recently set up the WVC54GCA for remote viewing over the internet. I use Verizon DSL with the Westell Versalink Gateway 327W, with the latest firmware (4.4.3) I was able to forward an alternate HTTP port (1025) enabling both TCP/UDP to my cams static IP. I was also able to forward the RTSP port (554) enabling both TCP/UDP to my cam's static IP. My problem is that my router will not forward any more ports, other than 1025 and 554.
There is a setting on the camera for RTP data port (listed as port 5000) and I cannot forward port 5000. I have tried changing the cam setting to a bunch of different ports other than 5000 (6881, 1024, 1900, etc.) but no matter what I try, none of the other ports can be opened through my router. It appears to work via the routers firmware (i.e. it looks just like the setting for 1025 and 554, which do forward) but when I check the port using canyouseeme.org or GRC the port is listed as closed or stealthed.
I am able to view the cam from my office at rtsp://camname:554/xxxxx using Quicktime or Realplayer.  However, neither my phone nore my buddies can connect.
My question, since I can view the mobile streaming feed outside of my LAN using Realplayer or Quicktime, is "Am I configured properly for mobile (rtsp) streaming?"  Is this a cellphone issue rather then a configuration issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sorry for the above post, I confirmed my cam is properly streaming mobile video.  The video feed was accessed using a Samsung Omnia and Blackberry Curve.
I am now home and confirm that even though I set up port forwarding for port 5000, that port is listed as closed via canyouseeme.org.  The feed works though, so I'm happy.

  • WVC54GCA ip address and ping but no web or image

    Hi,
I have two identical WVC54GCA cameras connected on static ips, .51 and .50.  One works perfectly and I can see the image on the crappy viewing software or go to the web site and view the image there.  The second one is more problematic.  I can ping the device and  get a 2-100 ms response.  The camera software can detect the camera in the setup.  However on the software, there is no image for camera 2, and when I try to go to the website .50 it just times out without ever connecting.  It is as if the camera's network connection is working but its web service, etc is dead.  Could that happen?  If I buy another 2, will maybe 1 of them work?
    Any suggestions gratefully received.  Thanks.

Unfortunately you can't enhance the antenna, as there is no provision for an external connection. You can only try to reposition it slightly.
The signal can be affected by metal objects nearby, other 2.4 GHz devices like handheld phones and microwave ovens.
Edit: The signal can also be affected by other wireless networks nearby. Try to use a different channel on the wireless access point. Set the same channel manually in the camera. (Try channel 1 or 6 or 11, as they all overlap somewhat).
If your second camera works well in that very same position (try it), then you may have a faulty unit. Take it back for a refund or warranty claim.

  • WVC54GCA and its soft with a lot of issues

First of all, sorry if I have some writing error, my native language is spanish.
Well, I'm really frustrated because I'm having a lot of problems with the cams. I really need help because I don't know anything else to do.
I have two cameras, both are WVC54GCA.
The biggest problem is that I can configure the cammeras over internet in the Monitoring soft that came with the cam, I can see and I can watch, but:
    - When I try to record, it only creates ".sef" files in a folder called "Data", I read that files can be converted in the playback option of the Soft, but when I open that option, the cam I configured is not in the list, it only shows a "MyCammera". If I click open and try to open some sef file, it does not recognize anything, so, I can not watch that files if they are really video.
    - If I close the setup and open it again, one of the cams dissappear from the configuration. When I close setup and open it again, the other dissappear too. Sometimes, only restarting the computer make cams dissappear.
    - When I am watching from IE, some times it has sound and other it does not. When it does not have, I enter to setup, uncheck "Enable microphone", apply, check it again, apply and then view video again and sound is working again.
The same thing happens in both cams, in four different computers, all with Windows XP Pro, some with SP2 some with SP3.
I search and from linksys there is no firmware update or soft update.
Anyone knows what can I do?
    Thank you!

You have a conflict between your camera as they both have the same name.
Log  on to your camera.  In Basic Setup change your camera name from my camera to camera 1.  Change your second camera from my camera to camera 2.
In Camera monitor redo the setup.

  • WVC54GCA future firmware suggestions

Hello all, feel free to add your own suggestions for future firmware improvements for the WVC54GCA camera.
    AUTOMATIC TIME UPDATE FUNCTION:
At power-ON the camera presently updates the right time from a web time server.
This does NOT work after a power failure, which affects the modem as well. The modem takes some time to power up, the camera by then has decided to abandon the time update and defaults to 2005.
Suggestion: make the WVC54GCA try at least every hour to update its time, or even more frequently.
    Or as an alternative:
Delay the initial time search by 5 minutes.
    Cheers.

I'd like to see an increase in the motion detection event legnth.  Support for recording events to a NAS would be a great improvement as well.

  • Video storage on WVC54GCA

I have a WVC54GCA.  The question I have is : where is the motion detected video stored.  Is it stored in the camera or the computer linked to it?  Does it require the linked computer to be on and and the utility software running for video to be captured?
    Joe
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you Enable Motion Detection on your computer and select the option E-mail, then its not required for you to Link your computer to the camera or to the Router, It will automatically detect the Motion and E-mail the Video to your Email account.
You can configure Motion Detection on your Camera by the Camera Utility or by Logging into the Camera Setup page.
But if you Enable Recording on your Camera using the Linksys Camera Utility, then your computer should always be Linked to the Router, so that it can store all the Recorded Video on your Computer.

  • WVC54GCA Firmware Upgrade Desktop App Stopped Working

    Hello,
I recently updated the firmware on 2 of my 3 WVC54GCA cameras to the latest version "v1.1.00 build 02".  The cameras flashed fine and still have network connectivity and everyting appears fine.  The desktop "Internet Home Monitoring Camera" sofware has stopped working for those two cameras.  The third camera still works great!
The software detects the cameras and lets me put in the necessary settings; however only shows a black video window.  After going through the setup they cameas are listed in the camera status window, but the little view eye is not "checked" green.
    HELP!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Resetting to factory defaults and doing a power cycle did work.  Thank you for the tip.  It was a little bit of work to re-configure everything, but it was worth it in the end.
I had also tried installing the LinkSys One Surveillance Utility as it seems to have a bit more functionality than the Home Camera Monitoring Utility app; however that didn't work with either firmware version so I am back to the Home Camera Monitoring desktop app that they came with.
    Thanks

  • WVC54GCA LED won't stay on

When plugged in, my WVC54GCA's blue LED lights up steadily, but after about 5 seconds, it goes off. Then abot 5 seconds later, it blinks twice, and then remains off.  If I unplug the router, wait a bit, and plug it in again, the same sequence occurs. Anyone experienced this?
I am assuming the LED being off means the unit is powered down, or otherwise not operating for some reason. Right?

Well why don't you try to reset the device and check. To reset WVC54GCA locate the Reset button on the bottom panel of the unit. Use a paper clip or something similar to hold the button for 30 seconds.

We love this camera and if you have an older WVC54GC you definitely want to check this new WVC54GCA camera out. It streams video and audio, and works in firefox as well (video only). You can also do a snapshot JPG with it via a direct URL, and it also does motion detection and can even send a mobile video format to your cell phone!

    Can you please explain how?

  • WVC54GCA - Advice Needed

I have the WVC54GCA.  Was working fine and then one day its not.  Can not access through the Monitor, or via the TZo Web page.  When I access through monitor, the camera isnt even listed in the camera status box.  I tried unplugging the camera, that did not work.

Try to access the Camera using the web interface(use it's IP Address - default ip address is 192.168.1.115) inside your Local Network...See if you can View Video when it is Wired and Wireless...
If it does not work then you need to reset the camera to factory settings and re-configure it from the scratch...
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Camera, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
    1. Connect your Camera to a computer, click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections - Right click on the icon for Local area connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the following IP address'- Provide IP Address - 192.168.1.5, Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0...Click on Ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...
    2. Now open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.115.
Use admin for both Username & Password in lower case...It should open your Camera set-up...
    3. Once you get to the set-up page you can follow this link to change the Camera Settings...While changing the Camera settings you have to make sure that the Wireless Settings(SSID/Network Name and WEP/WPA Key) are identical on both the devices(router and camera)...Also make sure to change the camera's default IP to match your network and Gateway Address should be your router's address...ex. Camera's IP Address : 192.168.1.115(assuming your router's default address is 192.168.1.1), Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1.
    4. After configuring the Camera you should disconnect it from the Computer and go into Local Area Connection TCP/IP Properties and set it back to Obtain IP Address Automatically...Disconnect the Camera from the computer and power cycle both the devices(Camera and Router)...Your camera should be configured...
In case if you don't get the Camera set-up just leave it connected to your computer and reset it for 30 seconds...
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Camera, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Follow Step 2, Step 3 & Step 4...
