WVC54GCA Question About Moving Back One Firmware Version

I am experiencing motion detection problems with a WVC54GCA with Ver 1.1.01 build 01 firmware installed. I have read a couple of threads in this forum which advise moving back to the previous V 1.1.00 build 02 firmware to solve the problem. I would like to know if anyone has done this ok and not  "bricked" their camera before I attempt it.
Thanks,
Mike

I had to step back to from 1.1.01 Build 1 to 1.1.00 Build 02.  I was fortunate that, for some reason I had downloaded the old firmware and kept it.
The problem I was having was that, once the new firmware was installed, ftp transfer upon motion detection quit working.  The error log reported "unknown ftp".  When the ftp name was replaced with an ip address, the error changed to "timeout or other error"
Once I stepped back to the 1.1.00 firmware, IP address ftp transfers began working immediately and, when I restored the to the ftp site name, transfers continued to work.  The camera was reliably transferring to the ftp site for at least a year prior.
I duplicated these results on 3 different cameras.

  • Question about moving a site

This isn't a Dreamweaver question, but you guys have been
great help in the past. Perhaps you can help me here.
I have a customer, WC, who had a site through one of these
'template' companies. I have redesigned his site. His domain name
is registered through Network Solutions. If I leave the domain
registration with Network Solutions but CHANGE his hosting company,
will anything (settings, Cnames, MX records, etc) need to change on
their Microsoft Exchange server? They no longer have a network
admin, and I'm not familiar with Exchange. I don't want to risk
crashing their email for a day!
    Thanks!

This will only be true if you are not using an exchange
    server. When I do
this for non-exchange server domains, I always have the
    clients set up a new
email account that grabs incoming email from the new
    mailserver, while they
also continue to get it from the old one. In the 72 - 96
    hours it takes to
be really sure all DN servers have propagated, they will
    receive email from
both locations. After that time, they can then cancel their
    original
hosting account, and remove the associated email account.

No - not if they are using an exchange server.

  • Questions about Reverting Back

Okay, I upgraded to Lion when it came out and I've loved it, but I need to revert back to Snow Leopard because I need Adobe Reader to work for school. I've found instructions about reverting back in other threads but I have some other questions that go along with the process.
    1. It says to back up my files first. I know this sounds stupid, but I don't think I've ever done this before. Is there a free site online where I can upload my documents/music/photos? I don't have an external hard drive.
    2. The only two apps I'm worried about losing are Microsoft Office and BusySync. What should I do about those?
Basically, I need really, really elementary instructions on how to do this. I'm not very computer-savvy and I need to be running Snow Leopard by the time school starts back this week.

Firstly, have you considered the alternative of creating a new partition on your drive on which you would install Snow Leopard? This way you can keep Lion yet have the luxury of booting into Snow Leopard when you need it. Just a thought.
Secondly, here's what you need to do if you decide to downgrade:
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Question about moving all iTunes data from one computer to another.

I have a Windows XP. Now I have a windows 7. All of the songs from the XP are available on the new computer via a Z drive. But when I plug my iPod into the new computer it says that it is registered with a different library and asks me if I want to delete all the songs and apps and replace them from the ones on the new library. I don't want that to happen. And all of the apps on the old computer aren't available on the new one. How do I get the apps from one computer to another, and how do I sync my iPod on the new computer without erasing all high scores, app data, songs, and other information? And how do I get a song fro the new computer back to the old one?
    Devin

This is the way I would normally recommend that you migrate your library from one computer to another.
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
If you have content on the new computer that you want to add to the library on the old one then copy that across via network/memory stick etc. before attempting to migrate the library again.

  • Why can't someone from apple answer my question about upgrading to the current version of Itunes

I am amazed that I have been posting questions for months about this issue and no one has given me an answer!!!!  Does Apple not track these discussions?
I have Windows 7 64-bit and am trying to upgrade Itunes to the current version, with no suggestions.
I have found and tried the 64-bit installer and receive the following message:
'This itunes installed is intended for 32-bit versions of Windows. Please download and install 64-bit Itunes installer instead.'
I have itunes 9.1.1.12 currently installed.

Okay ... it's behaving just like the PC Mover thing. 32-bit versions of iTunes and AMDS have somehow been jammed on the PC. When you go to uninstall either of them, the 64-bit Windows installer service encounters 32-bit installation configuration information, goes into a fantod, and you get the error message.
So we'd better try clearing away that installation configuration information, and then trying another update.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Mobile Device Support entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Next, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • A logical question about why we update firmware

    just being real here
we all like the latest and greatest products, especially mobiles, and we all know they have their share of isues. but yet still we buy even though the device we owned previously worked fine or almost something like 90%.
the question is why do we buy these devices, then depend on firmware updates that sometimes improves speed, or maybe add a couple apps, but doesn't solve the bugs. why do we even bother to update. do we have to. if our phone is working ok, why go through the update process, lose all our installed apps, and then start encountering problems we never had before.
it is just a strange price we pay for technology. remember before firmware updates were available, our phones worked great. no worrying about wi-fi connection problems, or camera bugs, or widgets not loading, or phone constantly crashing and rebooting on its own. why can't we get a phone that works 100%, especially when we shell out up to $600us or sometimes more.
when i new update is released i am hesitant to go through it, but in the end still do. sad but true. so the question is, WHY?

    Good question ;-)
That question is more philosophical than mobile-related I think. That´s how people work and that´s how our market system works. People always want to have the newest gadgets, the latest technologies etc. Sometimes they´re better, sometimes not, but whether a product succeeds in the marketplace is not always about quality.
Demand creates offerings. If there wasn´t any demand for newer mobiles, there wouldn´t be any.

  • Question about moving iTunes Media folder/library

    Hello,
I'm responding to the article listed here: iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder - Apple Support that describes moving your iTunes media folder. I have a massive music library/playlists (over 350 gigs and growing). I'm planning to relocate my media folder to Dropbox because I have ample space there and it will allow me to run my library off of multiple computers (though not at the same time). My question is this: if I follow the steps and consolidate and relocate my library to the new Dropbox folder, will all my new uploads and downloads/purchases/imports also start automatically going to this newly specified location? I want to make sure that it would.
    Thanks

Well the way that Dropbox works for me (just documents and data, not iTunes) is that I have a complete copy of the files in my Dropbox folder on my computer at home, and at work, and in the cloud on Dropbox's servers. Each time I update one of the files it is uploaded to Dropbox and then downloaded to the other client machine. When using another computer I can access my files from the Dropbox web interface, or use the Dropbox app on my iPad. It sounds like you are hoping that you can have all of your files in the cloud, and only in the cloud. I don't think it works that way.
For 350Gb and growing I think that realistically you need to stick with local storage. I clone my library to a 1Tb portable drive which I physically take to and from work, At each location I use SyncToy to synchronize the local and portable copies of the libraries effectively giving me three parallel clones of the library at all times.

  • Questions about moving from Mobile Me to iCloud

I just upgraded my iPhone to iOS5 and am curious about the move to iCloud for my mobileme account.  I know there are articles out there, but they seem very generic and do not put my fears to rest.
Here are my questions and concerns. I figure they will be easy for a lot of you to answer, but I need to pose them before I make the jump.
1.)  Do I need Lion to move to iCloud?  (from the articles I read I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but I thought I'd clarify)
2.)  I have more than one mobileme account that has calendars and mail synced on my computer.  If I upgrade one account do I have to upgrade the other at the same time for iCal and Mail to work?
3.)  My husband's mobileme account syncs his work calendar.  It is very important that I don't lose his information and that his calendar works flawlessly after the upgrade.  Has anyone run into problems with the calendar syncing?  I will not move anyone's accounts if iCloud is still experiencing a lot of bugs.  I will of course make a backup copy of his calendar before upgrading, but his calendar changes often and is synced to two iMacs, a Macbook Pro, Mac Mini, an iPad and an iPhone it will not be practical to keep track of his calendar and if it is syncing properly.
4.)  How do I actually make the switch to iCloud once I make up my mind to do it?  My Phone told me to sign into me.com to do this, but when I signed in I didn't see how to say that I wanted to use the iCloud.  Maybe this is because I haven't upgraded to Lion yet?
    Thanks!

I am curious about the comment you can only use one iCloud account at a time. Right now I have my moblieme calendar and my husband's mobileme calendar both visible in iCal.  That is very convenient for us because then he doesn't have to open up a separate user on the iMac just to check his calendar (this is our home computer that is mainly mine).  Are you telling me that I won't be able to use both CalDAV accounts in iCal anymore?  Will it force me to use only one?
Most of our music and videos was purchased under my .mac account, so iTunes isn't a problem, but we like to share one user on the computer and still be able to see both our calendars and e-mail.

  • Important Question About Moving Files

    Aloha DW Community
I need help/confirmation on this before i do it. I have

all over the place, in places they just should not be stored. i am

through and deleted all the old files that are no longer needed.
now before i upload this site to the new server i want to collect
all the images that are spread about and place them in the same
folder. my question is this - if i gather all the images together
and upload the site, will dreamweaver correct all the link paqths
that have been switched around by me moving all the pictures? i
know DW does this, but i am not sure if it will do it on such a

  • DW CS4 Question about Moving Content to New Site

    Hi,
I'm supposed to meet with a client later about creating a new website and moving all content from the old to the new.  Right now, I have no idea how many pages the old one has.  I'm assuming the worst, which means I'm assuming there will be a lot of pages.
So after I create a new home page and then a new secondary page, is there some kind of automated procedure Dreamweaver CS4 has that will help me quickly get all of this old content into the new content?  I'm hoping there is because I really want to avoid having to go to each old page, copy the content, and then paste it one by one.  As I think about this, though, if suppose the old site has 100 pages, I guess I'll have to create 100 new secondary pages, then somehow get the content of each of these 100 pages into the new 100 pages.
    Any help is appreciated.

I agree.  I'm thinking it will probably be easier to start from the ground up.  My biggest fear is it will be 5,000 or 10,000 pages.  And from what I understand (I'll get more specifics at the meeting) the job must be done by 10/27/10, which leaves precious little time.
I'm meeting with the client this week so as of right now, they cannot show me the existing site until the meeting.

  • Question about moving or sharing music

My teen son has a new iPod. Up until now, our iTunes account was through my email address because he was too young.  He would like to have his own account. How do we move all the music he has on my account to his?

You can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • Question about moving chat and call history

Downgrading to an older version from the newest version of Skype. The older version is not supposed to support the horrendous formatting *the bold text between stars* and such. However, I have heard that when you downgrade, the formatting STAYS and the only way to get rid of it permanantly (without having to input a command every single time you start Skype up) is to completely reset Skype's settings by renaming the appdata directory and letting a new one be created. Of course, this means your chat history and such is in the OLD folder, not the new one.
My question is this:  If I do this reset, then move my chat history from the old folder to the new one so that said chat history is restored to Skype, will the unwanted formatting return WITH it, or will that still be disabled?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Yunimori wrote:
Yes, but from everything I've seen, that doesn't actually fix the problem, it only works until you restart Skype or your computer. I am looking for a permanant solution; aka something I only have to do ONCE, not something I have to RE-DO every time I restart Skype/computer.
Temporary is not a solution. Permanant is. Thank you.
This was only an issue with the early 7.0 Skype version. The solution is permanent with the older Skype 6.21 version as well as with the latest Skype 7.1/7.2/7.3 versions.

  • ANOTHER question about moving referenced files.....

After reading through most of the posts I could find, I am still not finding the answer to my question. I assume it's simple, but I'm a (second-guessing?) LR2 convert, and while I love Aperture's UI, I'm really struggling with file management.
Here's how I like to work. Insert card into reader, and copy the folder (100CANON) to my desktop. Open Aperture, import all the photos from their current location. I like to edit, keyword, rename, etc at this point.
Let's say I had 10 photos in that folder, 5 of my dog, 5 of my car. Here's where my confusion begins:
I want to select the 5 dog photos, and move their physical location to my Pictures/Dogs folder on my hard drive, as well as to my Dogs project in Aperture. I try 'Relocate Master', which moves the file to the desired path on my hard drive. Unfortunately, the thumbnail still resides in the 100CANON project.
So therein lies my question, if I want these dog photos in the Dogs project I now have to drag the thumbnails from the 100CANON project to the Dogs project.
That seems like extra steps, and I can see that causing a lot of confusion, especially when trying to sort a folder with images that need to go in several different projects. I can't help but think I'm missing something obvious - why can't I go into my 100CANON project and drag the thumbnails to the appropriate project, and have the finder path update as well?
Save the "you should let Aperture manage your files" discussion, I'm not interested in that. I need to use referenced masters.

    JF wrote:
what do -you- do with your photos when you import them?
I take the CF card and Finder-copy the contents to a hard drive where they will ideally live forever. Then I eject the CF card (very important error-avoidance step). If the folder contents are not a single shoot at this point from the Finder I review the folder to see if I want the images to comprise more than one project; if so, each project is split into a separate folder with its own name.
Next I back up the folder of images which is labeled something like "101113Buckleymstrs." 101113 is 2010/Nov/13, Buckley is the job/project/event and mstrs indicates those images are the Masters. The backup folder is named "101113Buckley_mstrsbkup."
Note that at this point and forever I can Finder-search for the date or for the job/project/event or for mstrs or for bkup to find images. No Aperture involved yet. Also note that the year/month/day format at the start of the file name properly alphabetizes the folders by date on the hard drives. Most of the files on my hard drives are done that way.
Next I start to import into Aperture by reference into a new Project named "101113_Buckley" using the exact nomenclature used for "101113Buckleymstrs" except without "_mstrs" appended. If Aperture irrevocably lost the link to the masters I could Finder-search on the "101113_Buckley" and find them. At this step before import I review the pix Aperture is set to import and uncheck any obvious duds before clicking to import. The duds remain in the masters and backup folders but I do not care because hard drive capacity is cheap while my time and improved error avoidance have significant value.
I always shoot RAW+JPEG and sometimes I make two Aperture Project imports, one of the RAWs and another of the JPEGs: "101113Buckley_mstrsRAW" and "101113Buckley_mstrsJPEG."
For specific issues like "dogs" I use keywords to create Albums. Or if Buckley is a construction project, for instance, over time multiple Aperture Projects related to the Buckley construction will be created, all of which will point to a Buckley Construction Album. Other albums might be "Buckley Site Work," "Buckley Foundation," etc. Albums are very powerful and take up essentially zero space because they are comprised only of pointers.
I assume you're letting Aperture manage them? I think the issue is that I'm not ready to let Aperture take control of my library.
I manage every image very intentionally, using the tools Aperture makes available.
Do you have random folders strung out all over your Pictures folder with the various imports you've done over the years?
Folders are not random. They are sequential (which is how photos by definition always occur) and they are named identically to the corresponding Aperture Projects as noted above.
It boils down to this for me. I have preferred being able to navigate a file structure within LR to find that one image I'm after. Yes, I realize I could search for it by keyword, whatever, but sometimes I might not even remember how I categorized it. I used to do commercial interior shoots, and had them labeled by address. It's nice to traverse a folder hierarchy if you need to, and it seems like if I turn over control to Aperture I'd be giving that up.
I understand the need some folks have for what I call "film-think" or "folder-think." If you must use folders IMO best is to do it with the Masters before going into Aperture. Within Aperture IMO folder-think is debilitating to optimal use of the images database tools.
I analogize each Aperture Project to a roll of film that occurred at a point in time (an hour or a day or whatever). It gets dated and named in the hard drive archives and in Aperture. Aperture's pointers and key words allow us to create an infinite variety of Albums without relocating the hundreds of original Projects/Rolls of film.

  • Question about moving music from an iPod to your computer.

In my household, we have iTunes on three different computers. My mother downloaded music on my brother's computer, and it's on his library. We want to burn a cd with the purchased album, but his computer does not have a cd burner, but the other two do. Is there a way to move music from one computer to another, or possibly moving music from an iPod to a computer's library?

Music is synced to iphone from itunes.
Plug in iphone and select whatever you like to sync from itunes to iphone.

  • Question about MII and xMII UDS versions

    Hi all,
just some quick questions on MII and MII UDS:
Has the final version 12.1 of MII already been released? I can't find it in my service marketplace (does it depend on my account configuration?)
What is the last MII UDS version? The 4.0 SP2? Is xMII UDS supported on Windows 2003 server 64 bit or only on 32bit?
Can I connect MII via UDC connector to an UDS different from xMII UDS?
    Your help is appreciated...
    Mauro

Yes, it would depend upon your SMP credentials and licensed software purchases (if you have 12.0 then you're eligible for 12.1 too).  But it is not GA yet, so only people in ramp-up currently have access to it.  Don't both asking for a date because it has not been set.  Some time this quarter hopefully

The 2.5 UDS's are still viable and necessary for some of the vendor API based connections, but 4.0 is available for OleDB, OPC-DA and OPC-HDA.  They have only been validated on 32 bit, but in theory they should work in a 32 bit emulation mode on a Windows 64 bit environment.  Supported vs. unsupported is a thin line as a result, but perhaps others using them could share any specific experiences using them on 64 bit.

Your MII version of 11.5, 12.0, or 12.1 will work the same way with the UDS's as they are not version specific to MII.
