WVC54GCA Remote Monitoring Utility Drops Cameras Periodically

I have four WVC54GCA's set-up connected to a USRobotics ADSL Modem/Router with a Linksys 8-port switch.  I'm running the Linksys Wireless G Home Monitoring Camera Utility on two Win XP machines (one XP Home and one XP Professional (SP3)). Generally it works fine. However, due to fequent service outages by my ISP (many power failures in the area), I have set up a timer on each camera and the router so it does a hard reboot of all the components every day (works well).  However, for some reason the Linksys Monitoring Utility frequenly loses the set-up or confuses the port.  As such, I find myself having to click "Setup" and re-enter the specs to gain camera views.  It just doesn't seem very stable.  I was wondering if this was because I am running two different instances of the utility on two different PC's, or if the daily rebooting causes problems, or whether it is something else.  Does anyone else have this problem or can someone shed some light on this situation?  Is there a stability issue with the Monitoring software?  Is there an update or upgrade?  Thanks in advance.

Try reinstalling the Linksys Monitoring Utility on your computer.

  • WVC54GCA - recording and monitoring utility

I have a couple of WVC54GCA cameras, but don't find the install CDs anymore.
Now, I need to reinstall the "recording and monitoring utility" but I can't find this to be downloaded ???
    Thanks for any help !

    ok, never mind.
I found that this one is included in the "setup wizard" (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/NL/nl/support/WVC54GCA/download)

  • Problem re-setting up monitoring utility

I have 4 WVC54GC  cameras Several years ago I had problems losing recording setting with the utility that came with the cameras. Following advise from the forum I used a utility for another linksys camera (I can't remember which) last month the monitoring utility stop working, no video no recordings.  I was able to browse to the cameras using IE but could not view the videos. The cameras are remotely monitored, using dyndns for name resolution.  Naturally I assumed the problem was remote so I reset the cameras and router but it still did not work. I then tried a different PC and I can browse to the cameras and view the videos.  The problem must then be with my PC.  I uninstalled anything I installed since he problem began.   I  tried to reinstall the activeX component, but I could not uninstall the existing one. I reinstalled IE but now I cannot install the activeX component, I get the install prompt and then nothing.  I also wanted reinstalled the monitoring utility but I could not remember where I got  it.  So I reverted to the original, I can view videos and record but if I reboot the PC I loose all recording settings, back to my original problem.  I downloaded the utility for WVC80N but I cannot configure any of the cameras it states that
The Camera Name or IP  Address has existed. You cannot add the same camera to the list.
However there are no cameras in the list, there were folders in the storage area for each of the cameras so I deleted them but I still get the error.
How do I get around the "has existed" issue?
    What other utility is avaible?
Any idea on the activeX  install issue ?
Any help you can provide will be appreciated

Well you can try different browser and then check whether you can monitor and record the videos. Secondly you can download the camera utility from the Cisco website or from the following link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/cameras/WVC54GC . The download setup  will be in zip form. You need to unzip the setup ad then run the utility..
As far as active X installation is concern, which windows you are running on that particular computer.

  • Sound on remote monitor

I'm trying to get a basic TV to work as a remote monitor on my HP Pavillion laptop.  The picture is fine - but there is no sound. It's connected via the RS232 AV output socket and the OS is Windows 7 64bit. Be very grateful for any ideas?

I have trouble with my remote speakers cutting out
intermittently. Does anyone know why this might
happen? It doesn't seem to be related to the load on
the processor. It's like when listening to internet
radio and you lose the connection for a second or
    two. Very annoying.

  • Is iphone JAVA-capable for Cingular Remote Monitoring?

AT&T/Cingular has a service called Remote Monitor that lets you put up cameras, motion sensors etc at a site and monitor them remotely using the internet or a java-based application that you can download to a Cingular phone. Great for monitoring a 2nd home.
Somehow I don't think it's possible to use the java-based application on the iphone. I may be able to use the Safari connection and use the internet for it, although this is slower and non-dedicated. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is Safari on the iphone capable of viewing live video?

no right now you cant but this would make a great thrid party app from Apple for the iPhone... Suggest it

  • UCCX 9 IPPA Remote Monitor using rmon.aef

Question, can you utilize the rmon.aef script to remote monitor agents that use IPPA at a remote site? Trying to figure out ways to monitor an agent in this scenario since SPAN and Desktop Monitoring can't be utilized given that they're using IPPA and are remote from UCCX. Thoughts?

There are lots of reasons why monitoring and recording can fail in an environment.
There are also lots of troubleshooting steps to verify a working environment as well.
You can start by searching these forums for terms like "monitoring not working", "silent monitoring", "remote monitoring", etc.
You may even find, within those posts, links to configuration and troubleshooting documents, such as:

The most common issue is, your regions are G711, and the IP Phones are negotiating G722, which cannot be recorded.
To verify, when an Agent is on a call, double tap the ? button on the phone and read the codec.
If  it's G722, in CUCM, go to the Agent's phone, and switch the Advertise  G722 from Use System Default to Disabled, save and reset, try again.

  • Remotely monitor my CCTV system using my Mac

I am in the process of installing a CCTV system at my house with a VXM4 DVR Hard drive recorder. It is very straight forward to remotely monitor the system using a PC with an internet connection, but I can't seem to do it using my Mac. I desperately don't want to use a PC to do this. Does anyone know how I can do it using my MAC. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple boards.
Does your camera/recorder itself connect to the internet? Some do and all you need to do is browse to the IP address it is set for, just like any other website.

  • Remote monitoring multiple webcams

I have the webcam instant attached via usb to my computer. The Creative Web Cam Center software uploads images from it to the web every 5 seconds. I'd like to add another webcam instant camera to the pc and have pics from it uploaded to the web too. Can the web cam center software handle remote monitoring two cameras at the same time?

Unfortunately no, only one WebCam can be used at one time only.

  • XF Utility drops frames in playback on my Mac Book Air

    Hello,
I recently purchased a C300 and I am using a 2013 Mac Book Air to transfer media from the camera to external hard drives.
All works well except XF Utility drops frames when playing back footage from media that has been transferred to the laptops hard drive and also my external hard drives.  I am using the latest version of XF Utility (1.3.0) and here are the tech specs for my Mac Book Air:
Processor  1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 5000 1024 MB
My iMac desktop from 2007 plays the footage back with no dropped frames, no hiccupps.  I have a hard time beleiving that the latest the processor and graphics components on a 2013 MacBook Air cannot play back the footage without dropping frames.  Anyone have any ideas what might be my problem?
    Thank you.

    Hello jdbrunet,
We are not aware that this is a common issue with the footage shot with the EOS C300.  Since XF Utility seems to drop frames, the next thing to try would be another program to see if the footage drops frames there as well.  This would give us an idea if the issue is solely within XF Utility or the computer as a whole.
Desktops are generally more stable with regards to video processing because most Mac systems that are built for editing have more RAM and would handle the flow of video better.  You do not list the spec's for the iMac, so we cannot say this for certain.

  • WVC80N Monitoring Utility Software- Freezes after one or two frames. Tech support no help!

    Hello All,
I have a  new WVC80N cam and a new WRT230N router.  After installing both, everything is up and running perfectly via IE.  I can access from any IE computer with no problems.  HOWEVER, the desktop monitoring utility will NOT work!  I only have one cam attached (wired because the sound it TERRIBLE if wireless despite HOURS of troubleshooting with tech support) but it freezes after one or two frames.  I've tried on XP and Vista.  Tech Support in Irvine, CA simply siad there is a software conflict (and that there are many they know of), but offered NO other diagnostic help. He simply said it's probably conflicting with another video compression software on my computer and to start uninstlling programs until the problem is fixed!   WAY TO GO TECH SUPPORT....THATS A REAL SOLUTION FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!  Oh and he asked me to notify them IF I found the problem!!!!
Does anyone have any ideas about common software that may be causing my conflicts?  Or has anyone experienced the same issues?  There isn't much on these boards about this problem and I can't believe that I'm the only one who has experienced the utility software NOT working on TWO different computers and two Operating systems.  These are my first linksys products in a VERY long time, and so far they'll be my last!!!!!!!!
    ANY HELP/IDEAS is GREATLY appreciated.

    Hello Bahamaboy,
Your problem is exactly my problem. I tried both Windows Xp and 7. I can see live video, but the utility only record for a few second and freeze. There is no tech support in my country - cambodia, so I'm in a more serious situation. I also need help. May be I should tried from a fresh windows installation, but what is it good for. It takes lot of time to reinstall everything. Your comments do suggest some software conflict. I think I will try it on my laptop rather than my desktop, which I do not have lot of software installed on my laptop.

But while testing RFC connections before saving, it giving following erros :

Are these errors of any concern?
or shall i go ahead and save the entries?
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
ssue has been fixed after following
SAP Note 1453112 - CCMS agent and kernel: patches 2010
1:) Here we first performed kernel upgrade then re register agents as per note.
2:) While for mentioned error during remote monitoring entry we checked in path
Tcode-> sm59-> TCP/IP connectiones -> then in RFC destination SAPCCM4X.<SID>.<instance no> and found destination information was not correct so we corrected as
    SAPCCM4X.<monitoring system id>.<instance no> then
then perform remote monitoring entrory steps via RZ21 and issue got resoulved

Yesterday I ran Disk Utility and came up with hundreds of permissions that needed repair.  I hit the "repair permissions" button and waited until it said they were repaired, but just for fun I hit the "verify permissions" button again, and they all came back!  I did this several more times and every time I would hit "verify permissions" I would get the same list.  What's up?  I've always suspected diagnostic programs, but this is Apple's own!

Ignore them. They aren't errors. You will keep seeing the same ones. As long as you get the message "Permissions repair complete," you're OK.

  • Remote Monitoring Latest Best Practice Architecture

    Hi guys,
I've developed very few remote monitoring systems in the past. One of them was using a PXI RT and the rest are cRIO. The approach and architecture were based from some of the things I've read from ni.com and this forum. In the process, there were much difficulties and some extensive troubleshooting exercises that I need to do. The results, while the system work and meet the user's requirements, it didn't meet my own expectation. I was hoping that the system can be expanded (adding more cRIO or PXI) with much ease and little or no re-programming effort. Anyway, 2-3 years have passed and opportunities with similar requirements has emerged. So, I would like to get started to think about the architecture at an early stage (ie. now).
In my past systems, I've used Shared Variables (SV) a lot - and it gave much much headache too. Some of the troubles I had were:
    1. I can't decide whether to lump all SV in one library and host them in one system, or to separate them into various libraries and systems... neither do I know what's the best approach, as I've read too many 'suggestions' and 'advices',
    2. Some of the SV are from custom control and the control is type-def. When running the VI in RT with these SV in development platform, everything works smoothly but when I compiled and deploy, the program didn't run. After extensive troubleshooting, I found out that this had something to do with these SV - because when I removed the type-def from the custom controls and recreate my SV, everything worked fine. I suspect this may have something to do with how I deploy but after I tried several approach, the problem still persist.
    3. The best and most common of all is unstable connectivity - it work today but that doesn't guarantee it will work tomorrow. When the host PC changes, the same problems resurfaced again. I read somewhere that I need to read or interface with the .alias file but this work some times and other times, the same problem persist.
Attached is the most common architecture that I've used. I would like to move away from SV as much as possible. If the application is 1:1, there's no problem as I can easily use TCP/IP & Network Stream. However, my doubts and headache comes when the RT:Host communication is either 1:N, N:N or N:1. I've read in ni.com and found out that there are various new approach to this, such as AMC (derivated from UDP), Web Services (or was it HTTP).
I really appreciate it if you guys share your thoughts and advices here, please?

    Nick,
I was not talking about the mgmt0 interface. The vlan that you are testing will have a link blocked between the two 3750 port-channel if the root is on the nexus vPC pair.
Logically your topology is like this:
        |                             |
        |   Nexus Pair          |
    3750-1-----------------------3750-2
Since you have this triangle setup one of the links will be in blocking state for any vlan configured on these devices.
When you are talking about vPC and L3 are you talking about L3 routing protocols or just intervaln routing.
Intervlan routing is fine. Running L3 routing protocols over the peer-link and forming an adjaceny with an router upstream using L2 links is not recommended. Teh following link should give you an idea about what I am talking here:
    http://bradhedlund.com/2010/12/16/routing-over-nexus-7000-vpc-peer-link-yes-and-no/
    HSRP is fine.
As mentioned tracking feature purpose is to avoid block hole of traffic. It completely depends on your network setup. Don't think you would be needing to track all the interfaces.
