WVC80N Motion Detection / E-mailing

My Camera is able to work on my Network and I am having problems to have the Motion Detection to work properly by send my Images/recordings to my e-mail address. Can someone plese help me!
a. I have the Latest Firmware Loaded onto Camera.
Questions:
1. Does the computer that has the router connected to it have to be ON 24/7 in order for this to route images/recordings to my e-mail address? If it does ... does not make sense ... WHY???

In sending Motion Detection Emails using your Wireless-N Internet Home Monitoring Video Camera, you need to configure some settings in its web-based setup page.
NOTE:  Ensure that your camera is connected to the network and the Internet before you start configuring the Motion Detection settings of your camera.
Here is the link for setting up Motion Detection Emails using a WVC80N: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=7729342e5543474ea29f15da303b7923_How_do_I_send_Mot...
Well, computer need not have to be turn on all the time but make sure the router should remain turned on to get the wireless connectivity as well as to get the active Internet connection  to route images/recordings to your e-mail address.

  • WVC80N - Motion Detection

WVC80N working okay with the exception of motion detection emails after Verizon changed SMTP port from 25 to 465. Curiously, the "Test E-Mail" works OK with port 25 listed and cam successfully sends test email out. However, WVC80N will not send motion detected emails with JPG or AVI attachments using default port 25.  When I changed the motion detection email SMTP port in the WVC80N to the new Verizon 465, the Test E-Maill fails. My regular email is working okay - no problem sending or receiving.
The WVC80N was worked okay in ever respect prior to the Verizon SMTP port change to 465.
Has anyone else experienced same issue.
    Does anyone have a solution.

There are some ISP's that consider this as SPAM that's why it will be auto blocked. It's better if you check this with Verizon.

  • Pvc2300: false positive with motion detection

    Hello!
I bought 3 pvc 2300 cameras. I tried motion detection with camera's software and with "Active webcam" software and I received a lot of false positive mails.
    1. with camera's software, I set event with motion detection & sent mail, but I receive a lot of mail when there isn't motion (I saw registrations and images)
    2. with Active WebCam software I use Linksys cameras and Panasonic Cameras. With Panasonic cameras all is ok. With Linksys cameras, about every hours there is a black frame, so I receive a mail from motion detection. Black frame arrive about every hours, after 60 minutes from last black frame. That is very strange!
I changed sensitivity, check frequency, number of frame at second, but I have same problem.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks
    Mary

I have 2 Panasonic cameras too and I need one software to manage all cameras.
sensitivity: on active webcam software, I changed sensitivity of motion detection
frequency check: on active webcam software, I changed from check motion every 0,1 second to every 5 seconds
number of frame: on Linksys software I changed Max Frame Rate from 15 fps to 6 fps.

  • WVC54GCA- Enable Motion Detection checkbox, unchecked after 3 hours.

Motion Detection E-Mail, fails after 3 hours.
I checked  the Enable Motion Detection box. Filled in for E-Mail. Sending to a g-mail.
Sending from a smtp mail(att.net)Using smtp port number 587,and filled in outgoing mail server(smtp.att.yahoo.com).Filled in my account name and password. On new motion trigger schedule I filled in Every day 00:00-23:59(Wanted this to be active 24/7).Test E-Mail works on all 3 cameras. Also getting motion E-mails sent to my G-mail as mp4 files, I can watch. This is really cool. However, after 2-3 hours the Enable Motion Detection box is unchecked on all 3 cameras, and there is of course no more e-mails being sent. When I recheck the Enable Motion Detection box, all previously entered info is still stored. I hit apply and I’m up and running again.3 hours later the cameras have disabled the Enable Motion Detection again.
All 3 cameras are still working. I can see the video. It’s only the Motion Detection E-Mail part that disables itself after 3 hours.
I am using a Linksys WRT330N.No other wired or wireless network problems on home- network(with 4 desktops,3 laptops, wired and wireless printers,wii,ps3 and x-box 360)
Anybody know what I’m doing wrong?

Thank you for your greeting from Canada.(What a great Country!).
I have tried with timers(connected to cameras),turning them on and off(2/3 times in a 24 hour period).
I realy like the cameras, but software is terrible.(or is it the camera?).
    E-mail notification falls out(disapears/is unchecked)once a day.
Even the Linksys  Camera Utility cannot remember/recognize cameras between PC-shutdowns.
Hope Linksys can do something about this.
Cannot buy more of these, when they are so unreliable.
The point with a web-cam with motion detection,e-mail posibility would for me, be that it works every time.
    Unfortunatly,this product does not..
    Unless,somebody has found the solution.. ..  ..   .........   ..    ?

  • Motion Detection on WVC80N - not working

I've got the WVC80N camera setup on wired ethernet and everything is working fine with the exception of Motion Detection alerts. I've updated the firmware to the latest Ver.1.0.01
I can get test emails from the camera without any issues so I know that my SMTP server is working. I'm also logging all the traffic being sent from the camera so I can see the SMTP server being accessed when I send test emails and the camera tells me it was successful sending the email. However beyond that, I cannot get the camera to send me a email with video or email.
Here is what I have configured:
    Enabled Motion Detection = checked
Attachment Type = JPEG (I've also tried video, neither work)
Frame rate = 1 (I've tried multiple settings, none have worked)
Pre-Caputre Length=0 (I've tried multiple settings, none have worked)
Post-Capture Length=2 (I've tried multiple settings, none have worked)
    Action(s): E-Mail = checked
    Sent to: My email address
Show From As = My email address
    Subject = Motion Detection
    SMTP Port = 25
SMTP Mail Server = checked with my SMTP server defined
New Motion Trigger Schedule = Currently nothing defined. I've also tested using Everyday 01:00 - 24:00. Neither has worked.
    Any ideas? I'm lost
    Thanks

I'm having the same problem. Tried Cisco live chat but no solutions worked.
Used SMTP port numbers suggested by the mail server and others (25, 465, 587, 80, 110) - nothing.  Tried two different providers, Gmail and SBC Global, using their suggested settings - nothing
Tried the camera firmware upgrade - didn't help.
I have run out of ideas.  To say the least, this is getting very annoying.

  • Motion detection on WVC80N

Is there a way to configure the motion detection on the WVC80N without IE/ActiveX?  I don't always have access to a windows machine so ActiveX isn't a great solution for me.
    Regards,

    http://sensr.net Watch your stuff!

Motion detection basic feature is to capture the image file and mail it on your Email address whichever you have used while configurring your camera.
login to your setup page and click on the setup tab and then Enable Motion Detection input all the required information and click on save settings, once there is any activity infront of your camera it will capture that image and mail it you.
You can follow this link and it will help you in setting you Motion Detection .

  • Just want to record motion detect video with WVC80N

All I want to do is record motion detected video while I'm at work and view it when I get home.  I don't want remote access and I don't care about email notifications.  Does someone have some SIMPLE instructions for how to get this working?  I've read many of the posts on this forum and found all kinds of complex setups involving multiple webpages and port forwarding, etc., etc.  I just can't believe it's this complicated just to set up something simple.  BTW -- I have no problem viewing live video either through the camera utility or via web browser.  I can do instant recordings, but no motion detected video.  IMHO the camera itself is great, but the support is pathetic.  Camera utility program is terrible.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you want to record motion detected video for WVC80N then install your Internet Home Monitoring Camera with the disk here is the link - http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&login=1&vw=1&app=search&articleid=20543&userrole=Links... .
Then open up the Linksys Wireless-N IP camera has a built-in web-based setup. Here is the link for Installing WVC80N using the Web-Based Setup Page:
    http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&login=1&vw=1&app=search&articleid=22473&userrole=Links...
After doing all the procedure open up the utility and click on settings tab and click on browse and select the the destination where you want to save the recorded files..

  • WVC210 Motion detection.

    Hello again.
I can't switch off the motion detection using the push-button on web page (see pic). It's works fine (I receive the intrusion file by e-mail) but when I click on pulse, the motion detection don't stop the service.
    Please, help me!!
    Tks.

    Hi Paolo,
I have a WVC210 and took a peek at this when I saw your post.
I am actually running motion detection from the FREE SWVMS16 on a separate PC and also streaming FTP motion detection from the camera to an NSS, because as you probably observed, the email file attachments are alot and cost money (since they are so big) if they come to your mobile :-(
So just wanted to mention that that to me is the prefered way to manage up to 16 cameras and can be used remotely as well (just beware of the WAN bandwidth requirements).
But that button with the pulsing man on it.   That button really only is used"to have the camera moved to the  previously defined Motion Detection area" per the on line help.
As you probably learned, to enable and disable motion detection, you have to switch focus to a different screen.
But the SWVMS16 has this button as you require.  Where you can see the cameras and can enable/disable, while watching them all.
perhaps you should try this (again, its free).  You download it from the same place you find camera Firmware.
let me know what you think?

  • WVC54GCA - over sensitive motion detection, has anyone solved it yet?

My cams spam my mail account whenever I have motion detection enabled, the images it sends aren't anything to do with motion.  This seems to be a common issue with these.
Has anyone got it working correctly?

Try upgrading/reflashing the firmware of your Camera. Follow this link .
After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the Camera to factory defaults, then setup the Camera again from scratch.
To reset the Camera press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Camera, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your Camera...

  • Motion detection WVC54GCA setting custom area.

Now onto the next issue with the WVC54GCA.
When setting up the E-mail and configuring the motion detection with a minimum time between motions at 5 minutes I still get more then 100 mails a day.
IMO setting the custom area is not functioning. It just keeps detecting everything in the full window.
Does anybody know a solution or is it just this bad?
If so is there any new firmware coming out, or do we get a change to fiddle with it ourselves, by opening up telnet or any other way?
(Just wished I know the root password  )
From the 100 mails are atleast 75 false. If I could bring that back to 20 or less it would be acceptable for me, but this is too much.

Sorry I should have said I have  the newest firmware although you could have guessed, because I was asking for an update.

  • Emailing motion detection

I've been trying to find out why I can't get an email message sent to me with the motion detection settings. This message shows someone else is haveing the same problem as me.
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=cameras&message.id=600&query.id=4 0#M600
But I also noticed in the help that emailing the first frame "is only available if you installed Microsoft Windows Messaging with Internet Mail on your computer". What is this and where do I get it's I can't find any info on it on the internet.

But I dont want software , I want to use the internet camera as it should be used, as a standalone camera.

  • Motion Detection fail to set

When I check the box for Motion Detection I get an error message box, At the top "Messgae from webpage"  " No Option Selected. Select one from the list".  I had this problem when I first got these cameras a year ago and I fixed it by changing a Internet Exploer setting, now nothing I set makes a difference. I have Windows Vista 64bit and IE8. Vista did an update that made me reinstall McAfee and anthinicate Adoby CS, Proably the reason. I can send you a screen shot through e mail.

When you enable the Motion Detection settings on your Camera you need to Input the Email settings on your Camera.... You can change / Enable the Motion Detection settings on you Camera by Web UI or by the Camera Utility...
Click Here how to enable the Motion Detection Settings on your camera by Web UI...

  • Motion Detection

Hey guys im having trouble with the motion detection feature of the software program that came with my cam. i cant seem to get it to e-mail me the first frame. i out in every thing it asks for but it still fails to send out an e-mail. can somebody who got it to work walk me thru it step by step?

I have the Creative Live! Wireless I finally got motion detection to work by NOT filling in the field that asks for the POP3 Server infomation. Just fill in the field for the SMTP, the email account password, and the email addresses. When I had the POP3 Server field filled in motion detection did not work. Once I cleared that field it started working.

  • Broken WVC54GCA Motion Detection

Does anyone know how to get the motion detection in the WVC54GCA to work correctly, without  triggering contstantly
I have setup my camera to detect motion, and it appears to trigger (false positive) endlessly.  Using R24 (also tried R22) when I turn the threshold to max/min or midway, or have fullscreen, 1,2 or 3 detection windows I will receive an emailed output at the frequency defined by the gap between triggers.  It doesnt matter whether I ask for JPG output or Video (all files types) I fill my inbox very quickly, to the point where I have to turn off the motion detection, rendering the reason for purchase pointless.  Like an idiot, I do have two of these cameras, so its also unlikely to be simply a faulty unit.
(I also have a  WVC54GC earlier camera, which does trigger properly, but the ASF files generated are flakey to say the least)
The only thing I haven't tried is sending via FTP, but frankly I can't see how that will impact motion detection.
    1. Does anyone know how to get around this? or have had success with automated motion detection capture and send ?
    2. Are there any Linksys Cisco employees reading this that can confirm the firmware is still bing written and when the fixed version will be released, or should I eBay these to some hapless unfortunat, and buy Axis instead?
I realise my words are somewhat provocatory, but at least they are not fictional, unlike the marketting behind this camera, and I aslo believe I have the right to buy a functional product.
    Thanks for reading
    Richard

When you Enable Motion Detection on your Camera to capture JPEG files to be mailed on your E-mail, whats is the Interval Time you have set on your Camera. You may increase the Interval Time. Have you tried to Downloading the Latest Software from the Linksys website. You try downloading the latest software from the linksys website and try installing on your computer. Once you reinstall the software on your computer after this you can enable the Motion Detection on the software and check how it works.

  • Email notification for motion detection on webcanm center

no matter what i do, or what e-mail address i use, i run into an "starttls" errorI have used my emailgoogle emailyahoo email any one have a solution please?has anyone ever gotten the email function on motion detection to work ?(btw using VISTA (aka crap) sigh?

    Try this -
    MPEG-4
    Resoultion : 320 x 240
    Video quality
    Fixed quality  Normal
    max frame rate 30 fps
    MPJEG seting
    Resolution: 320 x 240
    Fixed quality Normal
    Max frame rate 30 fps
    2.  Motion detection settings are fine...
Also you can try Mobile Streaming -
RTSP by default uses port 554, so you should forward port 554 into the static LAN IP of the camera...Once you do this, you can type in a URL from our cell phone browser like rtsp://MyName.MyLinksysCamera.com:554/xxxxx (where xxxxx is the access code...
Having the access code as part of the URL allows you to use a custom home page on your phone to instantly select the stream to view and no username or password prompt is required...Keep in mind that some mobile devices and cell phones support RTSP, but at this time many do not...Some phones like the iPhone do not support RTSP at this time. Check with your wireless carrier for more details if their network or wireless hardware supports the RTSP protocol...
