WVC80N: Not working wireless ??

Hello all,
I have a new WVC80N and i'm trying to get it work wirelessly to no avail.
My current router is: WRT54G  v:1.41.2
When I plug the 80N directly into a port I can see everything, however if I try to go wireless (by unplugging the 80N cable) I found out the hard way that I have to power cycle the router or nothing works, even my internet connections stops?  Weird!  If I plug the 80N back into a port I have to power cycle the router again to get eveything to sync up?
This makes no sense and i'm stumped now.  Thanks.

Well i think the Firmware on your Router is very Old, you need to upgrade the firmware on your Router. Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in search tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Once you re-configure all the settings on your router, then you need to reset your Router and Re-configure all the settings on it again and these will make your camera work wirelessly.

  • Brand new iMac does not work wirelessly

This is a very strange situation and I don't know how much to be concerned about it.
6 weeks ago I bought the first of two brand new iMacs. We have two old G4s both wired into a Netgear wireless router, plus the printer. The first new iMac when switched on, immediately found the Netgear and has worked perfectly, wirelessly, ever since. As it should.
Less than a week ago I bought the second new iMac, which is identical to the first. I put it on the _same desk_ as the Netgear, therefore a distance of only one foot. Straight out of the box, it worked wirelessly to register itself with Apple.
Since then, it has only worked wirelessly very intermittently, and then very slowly indeed. I was wasting far too much time trying to figure out why the wireless did not work, and eventually wired it into the router too.
I was attempting to set up a network with 2 old G4s wired in, and 2 new iMacs wireless. Now I have 3 wired in and one wireless.
Is there something wrong with the second brand new iMac? Or is there some line I should be pursuing with Netgear?
I have written all the IP addresses down in case anyone responding - and I sure hope SOMEONE responds! - thinks that this may be a clue.
Many thanks in advance to all and any replies.

Update: I'm posting this in case it helps others......
I phoned the software support which comes free for 90 days with a brand new iMac.
The bright young man there instantly knew what the problem was, because he'd seen it all before. There's nothing wrong with the iMac and it has nothing to do with IP addresses.
I have to go into the Netgear configuration screen and Enable MAC filtering. This means I'll give the router the hardware addresses of the two iMacs and it will then allow both of them to communicate wirelessly - but no other devices which might be lurking in the vicinity.
    Sounds good to me.

  • U330 Ethernet not working, wireless works fine

I have an Ideapad U330 that will not get online using ethernet in windows. Before you ask, no it isnt my router. When I use an Ubuntu bootable disk, the ethernet works fine and I can surf the web without issue. I reformatted and installed windows 7 x86 (It had windows XP previously and the ethernet didnt work there either), installed all the drivers, and updated the BIOS, the ethernet still does not work while the wireless works fine. I thought this was a hardware issue until the ethernet worked with no issue in Ubuntu.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Alright well I booted it up in Ubuntu again to get the details, got an IP of 192.168.1.142 and DNS of 192.168.1.1. When connecting through Windows, I get an IP of 192.168.1.198 and DNS of 192.168.1.1. The only difference that it pulled up that was different from Windows' ipconfig /all is that it pulled a slightly different IP.
But, lo and behold, manually putting in the IP pulled from Ubuntu worked. But each time I try to go back to automatic IP in Windows it keeps delegating it to 192.168.1.198. Is there any reason why it keeps doing this? I would imagine that the router could have a setting having that out of an accepted range, but since that's the only IP it'll obtain otherwise, I'm wondering why that is.
I guess all there is left to ask is whether there's a way to keep the IP and DNS as automatic settings rather than manual. This is a college campus and I'd like to make sure that it wouldn't interfere with other computers or locations, including off-campus locations. Any thoughts?

  • Epson workforce 845 suddenly not working wirelessly, help!

I've had an iMac for three yrs., also bought an Epson Workforce 845 at the same time. Both have worked seamlessly.  I believe that after the most recent automatic computer update, is when my printer stopped working wirelessly.  I can print from my iPad and iPhone, but not from my iMac.  I've been on the phone with Epson three times, they can't figure it out.  My husband's mac mini won't print now either.  Any suggestions as to what I can do to get my printer to print wirelessly again????  HELP!!  So frustrated.

Downloaded drivers did not work - Apple cannot solve.  When I tried installing the software from the disk it says it is only compatible with OS 10.7 or below.  Mine is 10.9.2
I have two of the Officejt Pro 9600 Plus printers in separate locations and have the same issue with both printers.

Hi Danecrazed, maybe this link below can help you. This will direct you to download the Mac HP software for 10.9 support.

  • After Yosemite update canon mx860 does not work wirelessly

    Yosemite version10.10.1
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009)
    Canon driver  11.7.1.0
Since downloading yosemite I can not print wirelessly.  I have the latest software from apple and canon.  I have followed all the advice from both sites.
I have deleted and reset the printer.  I have turned off both my printer and my router and turned them back on.
I have downloaded the most recent software.  I am still only able to print on the usb.
On the printer the WLAN setting list says that the connection is active and it is connected to the correct  SSID.  The WLAN setting also says that it is in communication mode.
What ideas do you have for me to try next?
    Thank you very much,
    Willie

I ran across your question while having a very similar problem. I was able to finally fix mine by unplugging both my modem and router. I see that you've already done that. When I was reading through other questions, I saw that a few people had fixed the problem by setting a static IP for the printer through the router. I barely know what I'm talking about here. Just thought it may be of use. The discussion was here: Support Code:300 The printer does not respond. About the 4th page of responses. Best of luck to you!

I've received an apple wireless mighty mouse from my gf and it's not responding to anything. and my bluetooth icon in the top right of the screen says it's not enable everytime since. "can you tell my why it says that while 2 weeks ago my WIRELESS mighty mouse

  • Printer not working wireless

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600. I have my printer hooked to my home network. Each computer can see the printer and will print from it. Well almost. I have a Windows 7 desktop and laptop. Both can print fine from the 8600. The desktop is connected by a Ethernet cable and the laptop is connected wireless. The computer having the issue is the Vista desktop. I have the printer hooked up by USB now and it is working fine. The problem is getting anything to print wireless from this computer. When I try to print it may print a couple lines right off the bat but then stops. Every once in a while you may hear some activity. However most of the time the page will spit out plain and the screen will say print cancelled, even though I never cancelled it.
I can use the printer as it is connected now and be happy. I just wanted to try to figure out why it is printing slow/not printing at all from my Vista computer. Again this only happens when trying to print wireless. It is fine when connected by USB. This printer also printed fine to the last printer I had. It was a Officejet 6500. The printer broke so I got a new one. There have not been any changes to the computer since installing this printer. I installed the software using the disk that came with the printer. However when I plugged in the USB cable it found and installed more software. I tried to print wireless again after that and it would not print.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I believe I have found the problem. I noticed that only my Vista computer was running slow on upload speed test. I also had trouble with a tech remotely connecting to my desktop. Along with my printer slow printing I began to think it must be my computer. I was able to test my desktop with speed test while directly connected to the modem. That eliminated my router as the issue. It was still slow. So I decided to do a complete new install of Vista. I have tested several times during this re-install of my OS and system programs and my speeds are good. They have been very good. So it must have been something to do with my desktop. The printer is working fine from my Vista computer now. Thank you for your help in trying to resolve my issue. Happy I found this forum. I am sure I will be doing some more reading here. For now back to my desktop to get all my programs re-installed. Rick

  • Airport Express not working wirelessly for OSX only

    Hi all-
I have spent days reading in these forums and online attempting to resolve my issue, but to no avail.
    Computers:
Macbook Pro, 2009, running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (just updated today)
Imac, 2008, running Snow Leopard 10.6.2
    HP Touchsmart, running windows 7
    Gaming:
Playstation 30, 60 Gb Launch unit
    Xbox 360 Jasper unit
    Wii
    Wireless:
    Airport Extreme Base Station
I have my two year old airport base station creating a wireless network in my condo that had been working fine with no issues. One day I decided to make the network "invisible". My fiance complained so I decided to turn it back. I figured it was just as easy to reset the airport and set it up again from scratch. What a mistake that was.
After restarting the airport and setting it up again, my Imac and Macbook have a VERY hard time connecting, if they even connect at all (rarely can). Here are issues that sometimes occur:
    1) They can't find the network at all
    2) They can find it, try to login, but get a timeout error after a minute or so
    3) They can find it, login, but don't have an IP address are are not "connected to the internet"
    4) They find it, ask for a password, I enter it, it says it's wrong (when it's actually not wrong)
    5) Computers can not find the airport base station sometimes, even if directly connected to it.
**sometimes all of these issues happen when trying to connect, sometimes one of them just keeps happening over and over, ie, constantly asking for the password no matter how many times I enter the correct one.
I have tried every trick I saw in the forums- changing the airport firmware, changing the type of wireless security (even not having any), deleting saved networks from my airport prefs, changing the channel I'm broadcasting on, doing a hard reset on my airport (I've set the network up from scratch 20+ times trying to fix it), unplugging the modem and shutting all equipment down for 10 minutes or more, etc.
Sometimes If I play with the airport diagnostic/helper enough, it will eventually just work. I have no idea why. The macbook started working one day, worked for a week, and now is back to not connecting. It's driving us insane.
So now the odd part- My HP running windows 7, my ps3, and y wii ALL work flawlessly running on wireless. So do our iphones. The Xbox is wired through the airport, and works fine as well. Also, I called my internet provider, they say my service is fine. When I hook up the imac or macbook to with an ethernet cable from the airport, they get online fine as well- so the problem is only wireless, and only with the computers that are macs. This is why it seems to me that its an OSX issue.
I've read that some people are having connection issues from Snow Leopard- but I didn't upgrade the imac until recently, and the macbook was upgraded and working fine before these issues began.
Any insight/ideas/thoughts/responses will be greatly appreciated. I'll even throw in a beer if you live in the area

Could a nearby home network interfere with mine? I can see two strong network signals from the neighbourhood...
Yes, it is very possible a neighbor got themselves a brand new 802.11n wireless router and have it "cranked-up" to full power to cover their entire house. This may just be enough to affect your wireless network.
I suggest, if you don't already have it, is to get yourself a copy of Koingo's AirRadar. Use it to identify other Wi-Fis operating nearby. Note especially those that have the strongest signal and what channel they are operating on. Sometimes, something as simple as changing channels for your network will do the trick.

  • Photosmart B210 not working wirelessly (MacBook Pro and iPad)

I have already seen my symptoms on the forum here, but the problem is never resolved before the original poster abandons the thread.
I have an HP Photosmart Plus B210 printer. It worked just fine until I moved a month ago. I found the power cord today and hooked it up, and it no longer communicates properly with my devices. It does communicate-- just not properly.
    So a few things first...
-It IS on my network. I was able to access its URL page from the IP address, and print its Printer Status Report.
-My Wireless Network Test Report passed every category, and has excellent signal quality.
-I have already reset my printer (System Preferences --> Print & Scan --> Rest Printing System) and successfully readded it as my default printer. My computer recognized right away that the printer was in its proximity.
-Everything appears normal until I actually tell it to print or scan, then my computer gets confused.
---Prior to resetting my printer, it the print progress would reach 11%, then it would stop and say it could not connect. Now it just says "Word cannot connect to your printer."
There are no updates that came out since January 2012, and it worked fine until I moved a month ago. Other people with this problem have reinstalled the driver with no success.
From the iPad, the iPad just cannot find the printer.
The bottom line is that the printer is on the network just fine, my Apple devices are on the network just fine, but the printer won't communicate to the devices other than to let them know that it is there.

After some more digging, found an HP site that was different from their first one I found: http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/wireless/faq.html#01
Got everything to work, except Word still can't figure things out. Hopefully a restart fixes that too.

  • Scanner does not work wirelessly with iMac

I have an imac and an HP 8620 (not a cheap printer!!!)  trying to scan wirelessly running latest 10.10.2 and all i get is "The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.hp.scanhandler.error error 2.2)"  I have uninstalled reinstalled, run the cd and still NOTHING.HP are as much help as a chocolate teapot, just telling me to go round in circles doing what I've already done!!!! AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH

Hey ! Thank you for posting on the HP Forums! I would be more then happy to provide some help regarding scanning with your Officejet 8620 to the Mac computer.  I find that a great way to scan on the Mac computer is to use the application called Image Capture.  Image Capture is a an application built into the Mac operating system that allows you to communicate with the scanner and other image capturing devices. To open Image Capture click on the Spot Light (Magnifying glass icon at the top right corner of the Mac).  Type Image Capture into the little search bar and it should show up as the first selection.  Open Image Capture and select your printer on the left side of the window.  The printer may be listed under "Shared".  Once the printer is selected you should have the option to scan.  There is also another button to "Show Details".  That gives you more options for setting up the scan.  You should have the option to name the scan, select a folder, change file type, etc. Here is an Example of Image Capture:  Please post back and let me know if that worked for you

  • WRT610N Wired Connection Not Working; Wireless is Fine

We've had our WRT610N router for about a year, and we've been able to connect  via wired and wireless connections without any problem.  As of last night, the wired connections are no longer working.  We unplugged the cable modem and router numerous times to try and get it to work, but the wired connection is still out.
One item of note, we had a lightning strike a tree in our backyard late yesterday afternoon.  I'm not sure how this could possibly have any bearing, but I thought I would mention it.

I've heard a lot of that story, thunderstorms ruining the router configuration. I'd suggest you reset the router to defaults and give it a try. Though it would also reset the settings you have set in there.

  • Ethernet not working, wireless works, with older computer.

    Hi there.
I'm trying to set up a new wireless network. Currently it's looking like this:
DSL Modem set up in bridged mode, connected to my Airport Extreme N (Fast Ethernet) through ethernet.
The Airport Extreme is configured to share the Public IP through DHCP throughout the network (192.168.X.X).
Now all this works (after some trial and error anyway). My computers have no problem connecting to the wireless network, or the USB disks I have attached to the drive (hooked a USB hub into the AEBSN's USB port, and attached two disks to that).
(Computers that are connecting to the network are: MacBook Pro, MacBook, iBook G4, iBook G3)
Now what I'm trying to do is connect the iBook through ethernet directly to the AEBSN. I want to use it as a download computer of sorts, but don't want it to degrade the wireless from N speeds to B/G speeds all the time (the other iBook is off most of the time, and the MBP and MB are both N).
When I turn off Airport on the iBook G3, and plug in an ethernet cable which is running from the AEBSN, I'm not getting an IP at all. It ends up with one of those self assigned IP's. I let it sit like that overnight to see if anything would change, but it remained as is.
So I'm trying to figure out why this isn't working. Am I not setting something up correctly? In the end I'm not too knowledgeable on networking, and am hoping someone here can help me out

Have you tried connecting any other of your Macs via Ethernet to the AEBS? If you do that and the other Mac works, then you know it is a problem with that iBook.
If you try it and it doesn't work it could be a faulty cable or something wrong with the AEBS.
Ensure that your DSL modem is connected to the AEBS's WAN port.

  • Just purchased a MG3520 printer and it will not work wirelessly. Anyone been able to make it work?

Just purchased a Pixma MG3520 wireless printer and have not been able to maintain wireless communication/capabilty. It worked briefly after the initial setup ... was detected and able to print from my iPhone and tablet. Then it was no longer visible and with each attempt at setup, can not be detected.  This is a brand new unit!  I have followed all available instructions, read support threads (others are having the same problem), tried various approches with the router, etc. without success.  Can anyone help?  Canon responded to my first support email and dropped me.

    Hello everyone,
I'm also having an issue with printing/scanning this c309-g m printer.
My OS for this is a Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard
it did detect it but it does not wirelessly print or scan anything at all!!!
    Help Please?!

OK, as long as the CD said it was for 10.6 (and not 10.5+) we will proceed assuming the software is OK.
First, Let's reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
