WVC80N problems - linux mplayer capture, FTP issues
This camera was very stable for months, not sure what that heck happened about a month ago.
First off, only use this on Linux OS. I use mplayer to capture a still image every minute. Used to be very stable, for weeks on end (the linux way!). About a month ago the cam would just freeze, I could access the cam through the network but could not capture an image (either viewing on network page or via mplayer). The only way would be to reboot the camera and all was fine for a few hours before it would freeze again. I have not been able to fix this problem.
Now I decided to try the motion detection FTP feature. No luck, I cannot get the cam to find my ftp server. I can access this server from my other computers (including my windows box). I opened the port, no dice, nothing. Never seen an image saved via the motion sensor FTP option.
I anyone out there able to use the FTP feature (preferably on linux)??
Thanks so much for any help or feedback on this...
Charles

Problem solved. I finally got around to reading the manual and the answer was right there in an appendix. Using linux all you need to do is...
curl -o 00000001.jpg http://192.168.1.115/img/snapshot.cgi?size=3&quality=1
Substitute the ip address of your cam. I save a time dated file and send it to my web server and can run a time lapse of my cam. Been very stable so far.
Hope this helps someone,

Problem with sound capture on a Packard Bell
Hello, recently I have acquired a Packard Bell EASYNOTE MX61-B-054PT notebook to replace my dead Asus. Everything is working quite well except for sound capture from the microphone.
There is a periodic noise that I can't get rid of (the noise I'm talking about isn't the normal background white noise). In the image you can see in the middle when I made some sound and to the left and to the right just silence (with the typical noise) and the samples that go to zero periodically.
I have tried adjusting buffer time and buffer size in asound.conf, I've tried adjusting the pci latency for the soundcard but nothing worked.
To make the the plugging and unplugging of headphones work properly I needed to add "options snd_hda_intel model=lenovo" to modprobe.conf although the same problem happens if I don't have any options.
Help please, I'd like to make this work properly so I can make calls.
Below is everything that might help anyone help me find out whats wrong.

From looking though your other posts, I see that you have been having some other general sound issues. It may be that you need to install some of the other utility software from the support page for your notebook. There are some utilitys/software that is for the configuation of some of the keyboard keys. HP Pavilion g7-1216sv Notebook PC You can look at the ones from within the Software Solutions section, one of two of those may be of use.

More CS6 FTP Issues..??
I see quite a few threads about problems with FTP in CS6, but nothing specific to what I'm seeing.
I can setup FTP accounts just fine and the test works as expected. I can upload files and I don't have problems loading the pages like some have talked about (and what looks like a patch was released for).
What I am seeing, though, is that if I try to upload groups of files at a time it will often upload 1 or 2 and then just stop. Then if I view Remote and try to refresh it shows "nothing". So then I have to disconnect and reconnect, and then it shows everything again. At this point I can generally upload a group of files...but only once.
It seems like everytime I upload anything I have to switch to remote and disconnect and connect again to upload something after that.
Also, the syncing is all messed up. I'm working on a site where I made a change to my Dreamweaver template, and as such lots of files on the site were updated. Then I went to sync but everything gave me the red error icon showing that it couldn't figure out which one was newer and I had to manually specify that it should upload my local version for everything to the remote server.
Then, about 10 min later, I made another change to the template. I went to sync again, but once again, almost all my files were telling me it couldn't figure out which one was newer and I had to manually specify again.
What's strange is that some of the files are working fine and don't seem to have an issue...it just knows those need uploaded. About 90% of my files, though, are forcing me to manually tell it what it to do every time.
I see in the "what's new" videos that Adobe apparently made some changes to FTP and say it's a lot faster now becuase it allows for multiple connections. I was very excited to hear that, but now with all the issues I'm having and the other threads I see about problems with FTP in CS6 I'm almost wishing I wouldn't have upgraded.
Any information on how I can get this working the way it should be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Adobe is working on a variety of FTP issues, and is making available a patch. You can contact the Dreamweaver team directly to get a copy of the patch: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4541472#4541472.

Dreamweaver CS3 (9) maxed CPU slow performance and FTP issues.
Dreamweaver CS3 (9) maxed CPU slow performance and FTP
issues.
Never mind...I found it.
Of course I have all the firewall, worm, scanning, phishing
filtering, full time protect, and everything else turned off when I
am working on a remote/testing site however I found the Symantec
antivirus email scan being enabled (doesn't it just interact with
my email program?) was getting in the way of DW9 ftp operations,
causing some lagging that was putting DW9 into an unstable mode
during and immediately after (10 seconds) ftp operations.
The CPU still spikes to 99% during ftp functions but DW9
works even though it's likely taxed to the max but when I turn off
email scan DW9 returned to a functioning state during ftp and
remote file view. Whatever it takes huh?
PS: email scanning only never effected DW8.02
My System Info: properly configured (as in: everything works
or I fix it) Toshiba - XP pro SP2 – Pentium 4 - 2.3GHz
– 1.5 GB ram – Intel extreme graphics card 64 MB ram
– Apache 2.2 server – PHP 5 – MySQL 5 -
phpMyAdmin – Dreamweaver 8.02 – Interakt Kollection
3.7.1 – Dreamwweaver 9 - DeVtoolbox – Flash –
GoLive - Photoshop - ImageReady – Illustrator – Acrobat
– CuteFTP – Putty SSH - blabla...)Thanks for the response. I managed to Google the 'nobody' account and found the explanation.
As you say, I assumed the 'syslogd' process had to do with system logs. I did check the console and couldn't find anything of particular interest in the logs.
I'll continue to monitor but if anyone has any further suggestions please post.
One thing that might also have an impact... my available drive space is now down to less than 5gb (runs anywhere between 1gb and 5gb free depending on what I'm running). I know this causes problems for Parallels as it keeps moaning at me, but would it cause any problems with OSX?
Thanks again,
Tom -

Problem with Video Capture, and question towards solution
Yesterday I worked on a commercial for which we captured 9 clips (roughly 10 seconds or shorter in length). The clips all had text/titles superimposed on them by an outside machine and looked good in the monitors when they were exported and captured into FCP (ie: none of the text was chopped off).
I edited the commercial and then was exporting it out, only to discover that the text on the bottom of the clips was getting chopped off.
My first question is this: is there some setting in the capture process that could have done this? something that might have gotten tweaked accidently, or corrupted in some manner? Didn't have this problem with footage captured the previous day. And since it looked good before it was put into FCP, thinking it had to be a problem with FCP.
Also, in trying to tweak the footage in FCP, I came across a 'there must be an easier way to do it' question. Is there a way to alter parameters on multiple clips (such as raising them, like I had to)? I tried selecting all and double clicking, hoping that the changes I made would affect them all, but it only affected the one I directly clicked. I'm sure there's something simple (and obvious) that I'm overlooking...
thanks! For how and why this could have happened, would you mind sharing your capture and sequence settings?
As far as applying parameters to multiple clips, I think you can make use of the Paste Attributes function in FCP...
Alter one of your problematic clips
Select that clip in the Timeline, then press Command-C (or control-click and choose Copy from the contextual menu)
Select the remainder of your problematic clips
With your clips selected press Option-V (or control-click on one of them and select Paste Attributes from the contextual menu) to bring up the Paste Attributes dialog
Select Basic Motion - under the Video options, on your left-hand side - then click OK
(Basic Motion because, if I understand your solution correctly, you altered the Center property - either in the Motion tab of the Viewer or manually in the Canvas - of your clips. You nudged them all up a bit, right? If you did, then that would fall under the Basic Motion attribute.)
All your selected clips should be nudged up appropriately.
But, again, I'm making a bit of leap since I'm not entirely sure what caused your issue in the first place. -
FTP issues with Dreamweaver CC v 13.0
Hello,
I've been having multiple problems with DW using ftp. I've been using DW since it was a Macromedia product, and am familiar with server settings. etc.
The biggest issue comes from my using DW at work and also at home. I make changes at work, then when working from home I try to 'get' a particular folder so I have the updated code, and DW fails as follows:
web/staff/Pget_data.php - Transferring

... and so on
These errors occur from Mac computers running 10.7 and 10.8 which connect to different ISP's, and I am working with the hosting company to see if there are issues there, but just now I made a change to a file and tried to upload it. DW failed multiple times.
I work with, say, entry.php, live on site. I want to rename my local file to entryR0 and the use save as but the file does not get uploaded to the site, only locally, I then have to add a space or something so I can use Save, then maybe the file is uploaded.
I have Transmit, which works flawlessly, but I don't want to stop my workflow to use it for one file.
Any and all suggestions are gratefully welcomed!
Thanks in advance. Thanks for your reply Srivatsa. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
I am posting two items; the FTP log from when I launch DW then connect to the remote server, and the background file activity info which resulted when I just now tried to get the meals folder files which I changed at work.

Macbook Pro 2,33Ghz Core 2 Duo Radeon X1600, it has been presentng screen artifacts since a year ago. It is not in warranty now, but I read in the web that plenty of people is having the same problem as an early degradation issue. Sometimes the system freezes and stops respondign so I have to restart and lose all the unsaved work. A few moths ago, the Superdrive stopped recognizing the disc because of a firmware update released by Apple!! It is not acceptable. Solution?
Apple should give a solution to all these people who spent more than 2500$ in a laptop that has stopped working in less than 3 years!
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10330060-263.htmlYes, it appears the X1600 has more than its fair share of issues. I've seen reports of people reflowing the solder joints on/around the GPU with success, even baking the LB in the oven.
The rest is something you'll have to take up with Apple. -
I'm having a problem with device capture
I'm having a problem with device capture. I connect my Sony HC-90 via firewire. I can start the capture process in Premier 4 but then all control freezes.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
JeffAre they custom EQ settings in iTunes on the computer?
Per:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/17383922#17383922
"Do the EQ settings from my iTunes library transfer to my iPhone when I sync it"
Yes.
" thus causing my iPhone to over process the data when I turn it's EQ on? "
No. If the EQ ison, the iPhone will use the EQ setting you assigned in iTunes. It will use only the preset EQ. If you have a custom setting or do not have an EQ setting, it will not be used and will use the setting on the iPhone. -
qHow do u get help from apple support with iChat? I was able to chat with support last week to solve my problem but now the same issue is back and I don't see the option to chat now?
For what it is worth I have noticed a similar issue from the iPad3 while at work and home. At work we have two Apple TV 3rd Generation installed and tied to our A/V system. I believe the issue has to do with a timeout on the broadcast saying "here I am" and allowing devices to connect.
For example:
At work we have several Wi-Fi SSID being broadcast from Cisco APs. The only one we can use with the Apple TV is the one that uses a WEP since the others are either setup to be hidden, require web page authentication, or have a login requirement from employees. Essentially, what I believe the issue is that the Apple TV periodically broadcasts a message to other iOS devices that support Mirroring. When the Apple TV does not get a response from a device it goes into a dormant mode and requires either a command from the remote control or a reboot. This has been tested with both the power management enabled and not enabled with the same results.
As for when I come home, the Apple TV3 has not seen the device in some time and therefore is not broadcasting it's location information. A simple click of the circle or menu keys on the remote will give it the command to start broadcasting again and allow the iPad3 to see the Apple TV. When trying to Home Share the computer can not play (iTunes 11, Win8RTM) until the Apple TV is awoken then it will show up for mirroing.
This may or may not assist you but, it hopefully explains how the issue may be happening. -
Problem with passive mode FTP server and NAT
Hi,
I have a problem with Passive mode FTP and NAT.
I am trying to run both an FTP server and sharing the Internet connection via NAT. I have by the way specified the passive ports to use in ftpaccess (65000-65534). Everything works fine until someone tries to connect via Passive mode. I have tracked the problem down to the firewall and the rule that handles NAT.
Firewall rule config without NAT:
00001 allow udp from any 626 to any dst-port 626
01000 allow ip from any to any via lo0
12300 allow ip from any to any
65535 allow ip from any to any
Firewall rule config with NAT
00001 allow udp from any 626 to any dst-port 626
00010 divert 8668 ip from any to any via en1
01000 allow ip from any to any via lo0
12300 allow ip from any to any
65535 allow ip from any to any
So, passive ports do not work when NAT is on. If I turn it off, Passive ftp works like a charm.
But how do I solve my problem? I have in my quest for the answer stumbled upon "-punch_fw" but do not know how to use it or if it even helps me at all?
Best regards,
Peter

I can't find the file on your server.
They may also need to edit the .htaccess file to allow the .3gp file extension be used. Call them. -
i have created a site in dreamweaver and as far as i am aware the site works great, i have hosting and webspace with 1and1 and have connected to their servers via ftp, i have to manually upload the site and cannot seem to get the webpages themselves to upload, only the *images* folder and *scripts* upload successfully, i have tried everything i can to resolve this but have had no luck whatso ever, any help would be much appreciated, thanks
May be you can try steps suggested in the troubleshooting document. Most of the points mentioned there are also applicable on DW CS6.

Adobe contact information - http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

My "undo" command does not work in the new version of GB. Please advise. This is a real problem. I had no issues with GB from iLife 11.
Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.) -
Problem with Video capture Device
i have a problem with FME. i am using Avermedia TV capture
device and Canon 3ccd Digital Video Camcorder ( PAL ) when i open

Capture Device".
i read all the topics in Flash Media Encoder Category, if
this problem occures my capture device ( i expect MPEG ) how to
solve this problem?
Thanks,The Device Matrix is something we'll be updating in the
future as we continue to test more and more equipement. Ideally, I
would like for users such as yourselves to be able to add to it and
tell us what has worked for you as well. If anyone has any ideas
about what technology we should use to do this (e.g., this forum? a
wiki?) please let me know.
Regarding the devices not working - the main problem we see
is that the system requirements are not being met. Here is what to
check for:
- are you running on Windows XP (only supported OS right
now)?
- do you have DirectX client runtime version 9c or higher
installed?
- do you have hardware acceleration enabled?
- do you have 32bit graphics enabled?
- do you have the latest direct show drivers from the
card/device manufacturer?
Thanks,
Chris Hock

File Sharing with Windows (XP/Vista)
Hello all, I've studied various websites including the Apple support documents and I'm still a little confused about file sharing. Is there a way to share only certain folders via SMB with a vista/xp machine? E.G. can I just share my 'public' folder?
