WWAN Option (43R9153): Installation, WLAN

I bought the WWAN option for my T400 (2765-22G). Now I'm confused and have two questions:
- When I install the WWAN option, I need to remove the already installed modul. It seems to be the WLAN modul.
Will I loose the WLAN connectivity? Or does the WWAN also includ WLAN?
- The installed modul has 3 connectors, left, middle, right.
But the WWAN option has only two connectors. What happens with the third (grey) cable?

Eric, welcome to the forum,
I'm not sure you are looking in the right place. The wlan card is towards the back of your system and nees 3 antennae cables. The wan cardshould be installed on the left side, underneath where the palmrest and keyboard meet. There should be a free slot and two cables if your system is upgradeable. See the installation / removal instructions.

No Photoshop Extended Option During Installation

I recently downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended and during installation on my windows 8 (i just newly installed it just to try), the only options for installation is Photoshop (64 bit) and Photoshop (32 bit)..
I installed Photoshop (64 bit) as trial then after intallation there's no 3D menu and its not photoshop extended..
I download again and im pretty much I have downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended but when i install it, its just the same no photoshop extended option or its not the extended version rather..
By the way my system Specs is:
Windows 8 (64 bit)
AMD A8 2.9 Ghz w AMD RADEON 6550
4 GB memory
and i sure its a 3D capable..

ECC5 Installation option Distributed Installation

I am installing ECC5 on Windows 2003 with oracle 10g,During installation I have selected distributed installation (ABAP+JAVA).
Please could anyone tell me whether we can install abap+java on single system by selecting distributed installation option in sapinst.

whether we can install abap+java on single system by selecting distributed installation option in sapinst.
With Distributed Installation option one can install separate SAP System Components such as Central Instance with Central Services Instance, Database Instance, etc. on separate hosts.
In ABAP+JAVA stack installation scenario, the installation variants will be consists of ABAP installation and the installation of the Java Add-In. That You can install on Single System which is having sufficient resource for the same.

No English language option during installation of CS6 MC (MacOS)

My system: Mac Book Pro Mountain Lion
During installation process of Adobe CS6 Master Collection i have no option to select English language (only 2 version of english with hebrew and i guess arabic..or whatever)
Problem if i choose any of them, i could type only from Right to Left. Doesnt matter if change to Middle Eastern or Asian...

Try a different setup file, download the product directly from http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html.
Follow the Very Important instructions or else the download will not start.

Cannot see standalone option during installation

I have two problems:
1. I'm trying to install Workshop 3.2 as a standalone application but i don't see that option. It's always asking me for my Eclipse directory (step 4 during installation).
2. So, I installed Eclipse 3.2 with WTP and installed Workshop 3.2 as a plugin. But then, i cannot see the design view (WYSIWYG) whenever I create/edit a JSP.
I'm using Java 1.5.0_06. Has anyone encountered the same problem? Any advice?

Can you try the following steps:
open a DOS console
cd into the directory where you have the unzipped the contents from installer zip file.
Update the PATH variable as follows
PATH=C:<jdk1.5.0_06> ; \bin;%PATH%
run the the installer from the command prompt

Mac OS X Leopard install disc -- optional developer installs -- help please

Hello. I have a question that I've been looking to have answered for a long time. Within the install disc for Leopard, there is a folder called Developer or something like that, and inside it are the installation packages for Xcode Tools, Web Objects, and Dashcode. I have installed these three packages on my computer (I am a computer programmer -- I have very little experience with Mac programming, but I want to get started with learning). Anyways, in addition to these three installation packages, there is a folder called Packages, and inside this folder are about twenty installation packages, with names like X11, WebObjectsDocumentation, gcc, java, and SDKs and earlier versions of Mac OS X and that kind of thing. My question is -- what are these? Are they separate from the things that the Xcode Tools package installs, or are they all included in that package? If I'm going to be developing on the Mac, are these things I am going to need? Any info in regard to this will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They are sub-packages. The main XCode installer will install all the components by invoking the individual installers. The packages are separated in case you want to install the individual components (e.g. just install X11 without all the other parts).
As to whether you need them, that's only something you can answer based on what you're trying to do.
There's no harm in installing them even if you don't intend/expect to use them, other than eating a little disk space.

X1C WWAN options in Canada no longer available?

I was wondering why I am no longer able to order an X1C in Canada with WWAN, or if anyone knows a way to order one? I bought one back in October from Lenovo with the Ericsson card in it, but it does not seem to be available any longer online from Lenovo.

Regardless of the warranty you purchase, you get the highest/closest tier available in the region you're having the machined serviced in.
For us, getting a next-day on-site warranty between Canada and the US isn't an issue. It posses more of an issue if you have a next-day on-site warranty and are trying to get service in a region that doesn't have it. Then you have to settle with what is available there.
Short answer, you will still have warranty.
I had to order through the US to get the X1 Carbon configured with i7/8GB/256GB/WWAN. For some reason we can't get that config up here. I had to call in and work with a rep to get the machine ordered. Even then, the order was pending until they had processes the wire transfer (I didn't have a US CC), and the machine has to ship to a US address (my sister-in-law is going to receive and forward it up to me).

Unable to tap options during installation, how to complete?

The feature 'tap to click' is by default disabled during my Mountain Lion reinstall, now I cannot finalize the installation. I use a Mac Mini with external Magic Trackpad. I can move the cursor on the screen and have 'tabbed' my way through the Disk Utility and installation process.
I have selected the destination HD to install OS X on and only have to press/tap 'Continue' to finalize the installation. However... somehow I cannot tap to click... When I tap on my trackpad, nothing happens. No tap, tab, or keyboard combination gets my mouse cursor to the button that will bring me to the next step. Also, I cannot activate 'tap to click' this early in the installation process.
Major bug, or do I miss something? No, I do not have a mouse in the house that I could use.
Help is much appreciated (or a mouse :-) )

You have added a new dimension to my life - after using the trackpad for 2 years I have never found out it could physically click. Guess that is the only bad thing of using a Mac with TV in bed only (soft surface)

As far as I remember Con Kolivas was testing some VM managers lately in his ck kernels.
These include hard swapiness (in <2.6.8.1-ck4) and mapped watermark (in 2.6.8.1-ck4).

This readjusts the way memory is evicted by lightly removing cached ram once the ram is more than 2/3 full, if less than the "mapped watermark" percent of ram is mapped ram (ie applications). The normal system is to aggresively start scanning ram once it is completely full. The benefits of this are:
1. Allocating memory while ram is being lightly scanned is faster and cheaper than when it is being heavily scanned.
2. There is usually some free ram which tends to speed up application startup times.
3. Swapping is an unusual event instead of a common one if you have enough ram for your workload.
4. It is rare for your applications to be swapped out by file cache pressure.
Disadvantage: Less file cache.
The mapped watermark is configurable so a server for example might be happy to have a lower mapped percentage. The default is 66 and a server might like 33
echo 33 > /proc/sys/vm/mapped
This removes the swappiness knob entirely and deprecates all my previous vm hacks (autoregulated swappiness, hard swappiness, kiflush).
You must be aware that the normal system usually shrinks the memory allocated for buffers & file cache until it becomes close to ZERO, making almost all the memory available for user applications.

I am installing sap 4,7 ext: 110 in cluster formed with Windows 2003 enterprise and SQL enterprise 2000, the manual of sap says to me that it installs SQL of local way in the node a of cluster, later mind to install service pack 3 in the node a, later mind to install sap in the node a, after that requests to me that realise upgrade of SQL with the Upgrade option existing installation to a clustered installation but that option does not appear to me qualified

Here is a short (not necessarily complete) list of Cluster Option Requirements
- The SQL Server binaries are installed on a local non-
shared drive (Only Node A).
- The disc for the database files and the log file are
belongs to the SQL Server Cluster Group (MSSQL).
- On node B is no SQL Server with the same name (named
instance name or default instance name ) installed.
Check the registry on node B for the branches
HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
and
HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
Deinstall the SQL Server on node B, if it exists and
delete the registry branches on node B, if they still
exists.
- The executing user for the setup has appropriate
rights on both nodes
(domain administrator).
- The SQL Server database files (master, msdb, etc.) are
on a shared disc.
- Node B is available via private and/or public net.
- The Cluster service is running on node A and on node B.
- You are using the right CD (not mat.number 51011908)
or have set the version by means of the .reg file
sqlverfix.reg (see node 377430).
- All needed discs (SQL DB, SQL Log, Quorum) are on
node A.
Please check all the requirements and run the cluster upgrade of SQL Server again.

No Option To Opt Out Of McAfee Plus Installation!

Hi!
If you read these forums you will see this issue quite a lot. The response from Adobe is that there will always be an option during installation to opt out of the installation of McAfee Plus. Adobe even provided screen shots to prove this fact. Well today I was finally given the option to update my Flash Plug In when I booted my computer. Since I was aware of this issue I decided to see for my self if I was given this opt out option during the installation of the latest Flash. So was I given the choice to opt out?
NO! And here is the screen shoots to prove that there was no option nor anything mentioned about McAfee anywere!
The only thing I see is the offer to try out Adobe PhotoShop Lightroom 5 for free, nothing mentioned nor checked about McAfee anywere. Next screen once I click the update button is this:
Still no option, what happens here is that the installation of the .exe file starts and the save dialog pops up to save the installer.
Once I downloaded the installer this page is showing:
There I am only given instructions to locate and click the .exe file. Nothing mentioned about any McAfee.
I have no screeners for the actual install. But what happened when I clicked the .exe file was that a installation window opened where I saw 2 progress bars one for the installation of Flash and one for the installation of McAfee. I had no option to terminate the McAfee installation.
(The screeners above are in Swedish since I have a Swedish system but I hope you can still see there is nothing about McAfee in there).
So Adobe why are you claiming that we have an option to opt out when there is no such option? At least there was none for me!
I have since un installed the McAfee Plus from my machine!
I do not think this is acceptable behaviour for an installer coming form a supposedly serious and established company such as Adobe!

I am aware of those links. That is the method I normally use to install Flash Player on my Windows 7 machine. But since I saw posts here were users reported that when using the regular updater they were not given the option to opt out but Adobe claims that you should be given the option to opt out and also provided a screen shot to prove it. So I wanted to see for my self if I used the regular updater that comes up with a prompt on your desktop when you boot your computer, if I would be given the choice to opt out. It turned out that no I were not given any information to opt out of the McAfee Plus download. So I wanted to show other users as well as Adobe that what Adobe claims about the opt out option is not accurate. At least it was not for me and I presume many others who have been complaining about this.
The regular updater is what the vast majority of users are going to use to update their Flash players. So most users would never look for any offline installers. So when expert users here in the user forums recommend the offline installers instead that is kind of irrelevant for most users because most users are not going to visit these forums and the most of them will be using the Adobe updater option.
This was just an experiment from my side to find out if I would experience the same as many others have reported. And it turned out that I would!
I do not think it is ok for a software company especially not a supposedly big and serious one such as Adobe to include adware in their installations with no option for the user to be informed nor given the choice to opt out of it. Is that even a legal thing to do in the US? Adobe have claimed with the help of screenshots that users are given the option to be informed about and have the ability to opt out of the McAfee Plus installation. But that does not seem to be the case atleast not for me (and many others) when it installed on my machine running 64 bit Windows 7 and Google Chrome as the browser. So Adobe are not being honest about this situation.

I'm afraid you forget selecting the SSFS option during installation and it is the only connection method supported for kernel 7.40
It should be possible to fix this manually and perform all the step to connect using SSFS... but restarting your installation might be faster & easier.
1622837 - Secure connection of AS ABAP to Oracle via SSFS
As of SAP Kernel Release 7.40 (irrespective of the Oracle version), only the secure connection (secure connect) is supported via SSFS.
