"www" or no "www"

So I've seen answers to this question that guide you through Godaddy but I registered my domain name through iPower and they don't use this CNAME reference. And when redirecting my domain name I don't have the option to add "www" in front of it on iPower's site.
So the question is: How can I view my personal domain both with "www" and with out it? As of now I can only use: mydomain.com and not www.mydomain.com. When I use the latter I get a message “POSIX error: Permission denied” (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:13) and the page is not located.

Thanks for replying on the other discussion chain as well.
They don't seem to know what CNAME is. It currently is under Web Redirect but it doesn't allow one to add the "www". Their response was "hum, that's weird". They did make some alteration and I'll just wait a bit to see if it works. If not, I'll just take you advice and move it to godaddy.

Redirect www to non-www https.

I am trying to redirect all traffic from http/https www to https only non-www. Www and NO www

Since upgrading to Leopard Server I am having trouble getting my site to resolve to mydomain.com. It seems I need to have the www first in order to resolve. I think this is a DNS issue in that mydomain.com does not resolve using host commands in Terminal. In fact, it doesn't do anything at all in Terminal, just give me another command prompt. I don't even get an error message. The DNS panel in Server Admin changed so much I really don't understand it now. Tiger was easy to do this. Can someone explain how this feature is set up now? I am not looking forward to having to go add the www to all the links I have out there. Help!

As Steve mentioned, you need to add a straight Machine (A) record for the base domain to its zone. This tripped me up at first, too. I usually make sure this is a FQDN as in "mydomain.com.", especially if you intend to have it resolve via reverse DNS, like for a mail server host name or an SSL certificate. Careful, the PTR records of the Reverse Zone like to constantly update with any newly assigned FQDN to similar IP addresses, like when using the same IP for multiple virtual hosts. Double-check for PTR records after assigning the base domain "A" record, to ensure they will resolve to the appropriate domains.
Also, if you don't know already, you may want to address how your sites are accessed: with the www or not (if your sites are internet-based). This is important for Google's page ranking, as requests for www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com split your domain's ranking. You should force one or the other.

WWW service is not able to start via Microsoft Failover Cluster generic service resource

Environment
Cluster Nodes = two
Cluster Nodes OS = Windows 2008R2
Application = IIS
Query
I created generic service resources of many windows services under Microsoft Failover Cluster and they are failing over successfully but when I create a generic service resource for WWW, then the WWW service is not able to online
via Microsoft Failover Cluster. It stuck in online pending.
I have noticed two things.
1.) If the WWW service is set to manual and started at passive node and I manually restart the Active node then the WWW service successfully switch over to stand by/passive node. but if the WWW service is set to
manual and not started on stand by/Passive node then the WWW service is not failing over.
2.) if I kill the WWW service manually (as a test case) on Active Node via this command (taskkill /f /pid XXXX) then the WWW service failed and is not failing
over to standby/passive node.

Firefox appends 'www' to results in a Google search

I'm using Firefox 4, and all the results of a search in Google have 'www' in the url (in green). That doesn't happen on IE.
For example, if you search using the keyword '''inurl:https://''' you may see results like:
www.https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/
www.https://sede.ine.gob.es/
www.https://www.bankinter.com/
I don't know if it is a bug on Firefox, or something with Google, but just wanted to post it here because the same isn't happening on IE.

You can modify the pref <b>keyword.URL</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".

Saved password not working with www

Is there any way to work saved passwords with and without www for all domains?

Hello Everyone. My old web site needed a redirect to a "non www version" because of duplicate content. Is the same true for Muse site?

I made a website from Muse and want to launch it.
Question1)Will there be a www version and a non www version like on my current web page built in DW?
I never launched 2 websites. It just needed a "301 redirect" because when I ran a check on my website it said my page ranking was being lowered because there are two versions of my web site on line.

301 redirect was created.
The site is hosted on Godaddy and after 1 or 2 calls I was able to make the redirect. They made it pretty easy.
However I am still not sure if its better to redirect a www. to a non www, or a non www to a www.version of your site.
As long as there is a redirect, the content is not duplicated. That is the main thing I was trying to accomplish.

I just updated an existing slide show that was created several months back. Since loading my new set of files to our web server, we keep getting the following error in our server log files when someone loads our page in IE8 and IE9:

One of our programmers tracked the error to this line of code, but we're not sure what's causing it:

The errors aren't showing up on the client side, only in the server access logs. Every time the page is loaded with IE8 or IE9 and the Muse.Utils.addSelectorFn with the #slideshowu70 line is hit, it generates four errors in the server access logs.
Our admin guy pulled the errors from where it was clicked on from the Adobe forum. He said it also appeared that you tested it with www added to the url (if this was when you were testing it)...

The reason we find it strange is because it did not result in errors with the previous version of the slideshow. The only thing that changed this time around is that I removed some slides and added additional ones, but I noticed that there is a lot of difference in the code and even the scripts that are used. And I did copy over all of the scripts, css files, etc., so it's using all of the new source files.
I was hoping it was something that you guys had noticed if you review the access logs when you're testing. While it works perfectly on the client side, the IT guys do go through our access logs, so it would be nice to eliminate the errors.

Adding users to group www with NetInfo doesn't seem to work

I've added several users to the www group using NetInfo. As you can see, it seems to have worked:

Any ideas as to how I might get the addition of the group to actually kick in? The system won't let either user assigned the www group edit files with group www.

I wouldn't edit the www group if I were you. That group is used internally by OS X and meddling with it could have unintended consequenses.
I recommend creating your own custom group and adding the users you want to it. Netinfo Manager is not the easiest tool to use for this. Instead, download the Server Admin Tools from Apple and use Workgroup Manager. It makes creating custom groups a snap.

After wrestling with this issue, i'm about out of ideas.
Here's my setup.
Leopard server 10.5.4, running OD master (all rocking),
AFP, Firewall, DNS, (mobile) network home directories.
I'll call this "xserve.mydomain.com "
Its NAT'd IP is 192.168.1.102.
It's a FQDN, kerberos is running and happy, all is well.
There are about 12
clients, each with a desktop (imac) and laptop (macbook).
I have a second (windows 2003 sbe) server hosting the following
services: Exchange and Web (for now).
I'll call this winsbe.mydomain.com
Its NAT'd IP is 192.168.1.101
My External DNS setup is this.
Our DNS hosting is done by our registrar (network solutions).
We own 4 static IPs from our ISP.
One IP is for our router/firewall providing NAT
to internal clients, and the xserve is on DMZ, with
its OSX firewall service turned on.
One IP is for the
windows server. (the last two, if you've been counting, are unused .
Via Network Solutions "advanced DNS", I have our zone
configured. "xserve.mydomain.com" points to its WAN
IP (66.xxx.xxx.198).
www points to 66.xxx.xxx.194.
MX records refer to "winsbe.mydomain.com" via
WAN IP 66.xxx.xxx.194 as well.
All outside services resolve correctly.
IE, i can hit the website and send/receive email from mydomain.com.
My internal DNS as setup as this:
primary zone= mydomain.com
nameserver= xserve.mydomain.com
mx record= winsbe.mydomain.com
xserve.mydomain.com has an A record to LAN IP.
winsbe.mydomain.com has an A record to LAN IP.
www is a CNAME record to winsbe.mydomain.com. <----i'm not sure about this one but it works.....
My forwarder IP points back to my Router (which seems to give me better performance than using ISP
DNS from here..)
I know this is working fine insofar as the webserver, as
an nslookup (www.mydomain.com) internally resolves www to 192.168.1.101.
mydomain.com and www.mydomain.com hit the webserver internally
on client browsers. rock.
Again, forward AND reverse nslookups internally resolve to winsbe.mydmain.com/92.168.1.101
Here is my guess as to my problem,
my internal hostname + a record for the windows server the same as the MX record
which has an alias from www.
I think it's getting effed in there somewhere?
If I setup email clients with the windows server LAN IP rather than
the domain "winsbe.mydomain.com" it all works fine.
I'd frankly be willing to half-*** it with this solution,
but each client will require a mobile computer, so we can't have that
I feel like i'm on the right track, but
just can't make the breakthrough.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here?
Here is a last question,
I have my firewall/router as the "Forwarder IP Address"
in the last page of Settings in server admin. When i put
my ISP's DNS servers, i always get a 2 second delay
for any web query on any client.
I have "127.0.0.1" as the first DNS entry in xserve Network Preferences.
The xserve is the only DNS entry in the client computers.
This isn't a "bad practice" or anything is it?

Safari doesn't open new domain name .direct without www

When I try to open a domain like "mydomain.direct" Safari opens google search, but if I try to open "www.mydomain.direct" the website opens ok. Safari also doesn't open 3rd domains like "something.mydomain.direct" and sends me to google search.

What more is there to say? I was given an address to use in a project I am working on. It does NOT include www in the address. Every time I try to get to the site, I enter the address and firefox inserts www into the address and if I click on it, I am informed that firefox can't located the site try again, maybe I misspellled it, etc. Since I copied it directly from the e-mail I was sent AND I have gone to that site using the link provided in the e-mail I KNOW I can get there and it would seem that the site exists.
