  • I cannot sign in to hotmail with firefox

Suddenly a couple of days ago I cannot sign in to hotmail from firefox as I have been doing for 2 yrs daily.
I cleared cookies and cache and the sign in fields appear but then it comes back as unable to sign in.
I also disabled all add-ons with the same result.
    Hotmail works fine in IE

Hey all....I awkened at 12:35 am with a thought about what might be wrong and it's one thing I did not think to check. I went through all the blocked cookies. I went through 3 times and did not see anything Live, msn, hotmail etc that I had blocked but then I thought what the heck, and deleted everything, blocked or allowed.
Went back and tried to sign in and....it worked!
Now, I have no idea which blocked cookie it was because none were obvious to me and the ones that came up for approval to allow or not during sign-in all were live.com cookies.
Anyway, thanks a million for your help...I did learn a few things on this one from you all, so it was a good experience.
Best of all, I don't have to use IE anymore! :)

  • Unable to read hotmail in firefox, but can in IE which I don't like

When I go to my hotmail account, the messages come up but I am not able to open them or delete them. I can do both in IE but I do not like IE. This seems to happen every few days.
Also have a problem loading gmail in Firefox but not in IE.

    Hi shearglass, <br>
this was normal to happen. It's a common practice nowadays not to keep all cookies and deleting firefox cache frequently (I do it all the time..) but also (in order to see what is going on) you can use an addon like <br>
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/cookies-manager-plus/?src=ss Cookies Manager]
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/cookie-monster/ Cookie Monster]
    <br> but it's not necessary!
Cookies are used by sites to track preferences and store sessions, so if a previous session was already saved it couldn't work with the new password. <br> You could see this article for details: <br>
[[Fix login issues on websites that require a username and password]]
<br> You can also set Firefox to keep cookies from sites until you close it, so next time you start Firefox it won't remember your previous logins!
<br> In this article:<br> [[Enable and disable cookies that websites use to track your preferences]] <br> you will find more details on this!<br> Hope that helped you!

  • I have 2 i4 phones.  I can sign on to iCloud on 1 but never on the other.  Does anyone have the answer to this.  I have tried to change my password but I still have the same problem.  I keep getting message "Verification Failed The request timed out"

I upgraded to 2 -  i4 phones with 2 different phone numbers.  I can sign on to iCloud on 1 phone but never on the other.  I have changed my my password twice but no matter what I do, I still have the same problem.  I keep getting a message "Verification Failed The request timed out"  no matter how many times I try to sign on it always times out.  Before I upgraded to the i4, I had a i3GS and had the same exact problem.  Does anyone have any ideas???

Firstly, go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with the ID you use for iCloud. A new password will be sent to your associated email address.
If that doesn't work, for example because it's going to an address you can't access, then you will have to contact Support. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password' and click 'Continue'.

  • Newsletter sign up form works in Firefox but not IE??

Hi, I have a website I am designing using dreamweaver CS3 and I added a newsletter sign up form using a 3rd party code. The form on the website looks perfectly fine in Firefox but the form fields are not present in IE. Does anyone know why this may be happening? The site is www.physioworks4me.com and I apologise in advance for my coding as I am just learning and not very good at this yet. I took the code that was supplied for the sign up form, opened up a brand new 'plain' html doc in dreamweaver, pasted the code and tried it. It seemed to work fine in both IE and FF....but when I use my template for the webpage I made, it will not work. I am using a XHTML page, could this be a problem with the javascript used for the sign up form? Thanks in advance for your help...

The first suggestion you'll receive from most here is to clean up your code
    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.physioworks4me.com%2F&charset=%28detect +automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
Also, you may have quicker results changing to a HTML Transitional doctype.

  • I am unable to open emails in hotmail via Firefox but can in Internet Explorer

I can open my hotmail account but cannot open individual emails or delete or compose emails.
I can however do all this in Internet Explorer.
I have ensured I have latest Firefox release (9)

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • I can log into hotmail using firefox, but I can't read any of my emails, and most of the links don't work either.

I can't read any emails in my msn account. I'm using Firefox 4.0.1. Every time I click on one, it acts like it's reloading the page, but nothing happens. It happens when I click on links to my folders as well. It works fine in Google Chrome though. Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm having the same issues, running Firefox 3.6.
After downloading Windows Updates for Vista, Hotmail has stopped working.
I can log on, but can't click on any messages.
None of the buttons work at all in Hotmail; it's completely frozen.
I have to log on using Internet Explorer.
I had the same problems with Firefox 4.0; Norton 360 wouldn't work properly with it, so I deleted it, and went back to Firefox 3.6.

  • Can't get msn or hotmail with firefox but can with explorer, always used firefox before-what's up?

started in safe mode but still can not get msn or my hotmail, just comes up with a blank page.Removed all cookies and cache and all add-ons are off. Removed foxfire and reinstalled to no avail. Have done everything all can think of but no way it will work yet if I go to Explorers the damn thing works.Any ideas?????

    Sorry you are having problems.
Both sites work ok for me using Firefox. That comment may not make you feel good but along with the fact that both sites work for you on IE it does tend to point to something rather specific on your computer affecting firefox.
I do notice quite a few questions recently about this. In many cases clearing the cache or just a Ctrl+F5 reload will help, along with clearing the cookies for that site.
*you will already have seen [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer#w_delete-cookies-for-a-single-site ]]_delete-cookies-for-a-single-site
I suppose malware could be the cause as this reply said [/questions/944943#answer-413484] and for a other troubleshooting advice please have a look at suggestions in this short [/questions/952206 thread]
Something you should try as an elimination step is booting with the F8 key into Windows Safe Mode with network support

  • On my new imac I cannot sign onto Google maps in firefox but I can on Safari. What do I do? Bert

I have an igoogle account. I use it for the igoogle homepag and for gmail. They work fine. However, when I try to sign into google maps it always goes back to the sign in page. If I go to Safari I can log into Google maps just fine. There must be a setting in Firefox I need to change. I have done the "about:config" suggested in Firefox help but the settings are PK.

Mine is a similar problem with Firefox 3.6.18 on XP, service pack 3. Until a few days ago I could click on the Google Maps icon in the Google Tool Bar and I would be straight in. Now I am asked to sign in but this does not work.
I have found a work around but it is inconvenient. If I open Google Calendar from the tool bar, logged in straight away and then go to Account Settings - My Products and click on Maps I can then access My Places and do all I want with my maps. All other Google products that I use log straight in as does Google Maps in Windows IE8.
    Answers Please.

  • My bookmarks only show up on the mobile Firefox, but not in the desktop browser. How can I fix it?

This is how it all happened:
    1. Bookmarks first disappeared on one of my desktop computers.
    2. Bookmarks disappeared on another desktop computer. Additionally I was unable to bookmark any new page - after I press the star button it would be blank (not yellow).
    3. I can see my bookmarks on my tablet with updated Firefox Beta. But I am worried they will disappear soon too.
    4. When I checked the Sync Quota it shows that Bookmarks only use few kilobytes even thought I have hundreds if not thousands of bookmarks.
    5. I have reinstalled the browser removing all personal data, but the only thing that changed is - I now can add bookmarks, although not through Right Click->Bookmark This Link.
I strongly believe this is a bug in the Sync system and am now considering switching to chrome

'''Did you backup whatever bookmarks you did have on the computer ? '''
Remember any restoring of bookmarks overwrites whatever he current set is, and you may not want to loose them.
Even if up until now you have not made any backups of Desktop bookmarks Firefox will have backed up some of them into sets of daily bookmark backups. Once you have backed up your current set you could look at what it has by restoring those bookmarks, you may find one of those sets is fairly complete.
By the way if you look at the profile files and folders that you should now have on the desktop you should see it contains a bookmarks backup folder, the size of the files within should indicate whether they contain anything.
You need to go into the bookmarks library and try the restore option. Backup each set that you look at if it has anything of use in it, before trying the next set. With look one of those will be a fairly complete set of bookmarks.
    * USE '''Show All Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Restore '''
** see [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer#w_restoring-from-backups]]_restoring-from-backups
I do not use Firefox on mobiles, but before you try anything further you do need to backup the desktop bookmarks and learn what existing backups you have. Unless you master that you are in continual danger of overwriting and loosing bookmarks.
Presumably you have already found this listing of help articles for mobiles

  • How, when I sign out of Hotmail (MSN), sign back in with a different account, and click on Hotmail, can I get it to open in the same tab (or at least same window) instead of in a new window?

Under options I've checked "Open new windows in a new tab instead." Yet often when I must sign back into Hotmail, it opens in a new window. I would prefer that it open in the MSN sign-in tab or at least in the same window, but am not given a choice. If there is no way to control that, can I move tabs from one window to another window?

Thanks. I read the article but don't understand whether or not I can change the preference with regard to Hotmail.

  • I just bought and installed mountain lion, and I can't get to sign in to hotmail. Can I get some help please. Thanks.

I just bought and installed mountain lion, and I can't get to sign in to hotmail after several trials. I need help please. Thanks.

so its in a forum, which I didn't stumble upon because it wasn't anywhere in the adobe troubleshooting steps for Windows 8 that automatically came up for me when I clicked that I couldn't see the test flash movie on their site. I guess if I spent another half a day googling I might have found it.
BTW, unchecking Active X filtering in IE10, was NOT the fix. I had to go into the security tab, and change the custom active X setting I listed above. So this link you provided which mentions unchecking Active X filtering was not the fix that worked in my scenario.

    Hello,
Today I am unable to sign in to Hotmail/Virgin email accounts. I can access the usual websites. Also, my MacBook is sounding like it's working hard every time I click to a site - not sure if this is just co-incidence.

Hold the Alt key down and type these letters TD, (or Gear symbol on the top right/ Internet options/ Delete button)
