X-Box Live MTU

I'm having a lot of trouble getting my X-Box live wireless adapter and my Linksys router downstairs...
When I do the test for X-Box live connectivity, everything passes except the MTU test.
I have changed the MTU several times, made sure it's above 1364, even tried some MTU's that are supposedly compatible with AOL, but to no avail. I even called Linksys supportline and no help after a couple hours.
Anyone know what the problem could be?
Thanks

try keeping the MTU on 1364....assign a static ip add on the x-box .. say , 192.1681.10 and also the dns address off of the status page on the router ui...
under "applications and gaming" tab , forward ports 88 and 3074....
if nothing works, ensure that u have the latest firmware on the router....

  • Can't connect to X-Box live with Air Port Extreme

I just can't figure out how to connect my X-Box (original/first X-Box) to X-Box Live using my Airport Extreme. I am using an X-Box wireless modem. X-Box live phone help told me I needed to contact Apple and have them "Open three NAT Ports: 1. UDP 88, 2. UDP 3074, and 3. TCP 3074. Then to enable UPNP." WHAT?? Since I do not have Apple Care, they are unwilling to help me. I have tried manually entering the IP address and Subnet into my X-Box, but then the X-Box tells me there is no "Gateway" something or other. And I can't seem to find the "Gateway" on my Mac in Airport settings. Can anyone help?
    -Thanks!

Acces setup page of router .....
Please click on the tab "Application and gaming" and click on sub

  • X-Box Live lag issues

Recently, after we upgraded to FiOS my son started noticing lag spikes during games on X-Box Live. (Teleporting, Disconnecting, Etc.)
We had DSL from Verizon, which he originally used the X-Box on, and with the DSL he noticed that it actually was faster then FiOS currently is. Since we can't directly run an ethernet to the router (the router is downstairs), he is currently using ICS on his laptop in order to get an X-Box Live Connection. As I said, with DSL, there were no problems at all. We think it may be router-related.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

yes that sounds like a wireless lag issue. there are only a few options for that.
    1) run a Ethernet cable to the xbox.
    2) get a wireless booster
    3) get a second wireless device and place it closer to the xbox. (the option I have done myself)

  • Droid X hot spot work for X-box Live???

Does anybody know if it the Mobile Hot Spot would work for x-box live?

Yes, it can work for Xbox Live.  However keep in mind you will exceed the data limit very quickly and if you play any multiplayer games you will be very LAGGY.
For smooth multiplayer on Xbox live you need a download speed of 8mbps, and upload of 2-4mbps.  Your droid X will give you numbers like 1.4-2.0 mbps down, and 700k-1.0mbps up.

So if you to Open the Ports on the Router please follow these steps:-
Hard Wire 1 Computer to the Router with a Ethernet cable to any one of the 4 ports on the Router.
Open an Internet Explorer page and in the Address bar just type the Number 192.168.1.1 and hit Enter.
It will ask you for a username and password, keep the Username blank and the Password type admin.
You will get a Linksys setup page.
Then click on the Application and Gaming tab, then click on the sub tab Port Triggering.
In the Apication name type the Name XBOX without spaces with dahses...
Across it you have 4 boxes for Triggered Range Start and End Port and in the Forward Range Start End Port.
So in the Start port type the number 53 and End port Number 3074, similarly for Forwarded Range Start port type 53 to End port 3074 and check the Enable box and then click on save settings and then on continue.
Please follow this steps the ports will be open for your XBOX.

  • T-Box Live TV slow to start...

Recently live TV on my t-box has begun to be really slow to start up. When I power on my t-box the selected channel takes ages to start. I get a black screen, and sometimes even a meessage saying "channel not available", but after a while (10 or 20 seconds) it starts working...and reception does not drop out. All recordings are working ok.I suspect that it may have only started doing this since either a) the last update, or b) the last power failure.Has anyone else had this issue?

Have you performed a soft reset/deep sleep?
If that doesn't work and you know you have good signal then T-Box support 1300 136 841 would be able to run through some additional troubleshooting with you.

  • I can't connect to X-box live anymore! Help please!

I've had xbox live since Sunday and it's worked fine since then. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G with Microsoft's own wireless adapter. When I first got it hooked up, I was using WEP and the xbox live lady on the phone told me to use my phone number for that code and it connected right away after some power cycling. Well, this morning I went to connect and it wasn't working at all. It get's to the IP address and fails. I called xbox live on the phone again and they told me to use a WPA code that I got off my computer. So after half and hour and more power cycling, it connected and after I hung up the phone with the lady, it became unconnected again. Ok, obviously I'm not the smartest person when it comes to this stuff so I REALLY need some guidance on how I should do this. Should I be using WEP or WPA and why can't I stay connected?

  • 1mbps with x-box live?

would 1mbps be to slow or just good enough for xbox live? With games like call of duty and sports games? thank you, this is probably a stupid question but any answer would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, it should work, but you will have to port forward your modem (verizon tech support does not support this, but it is easily done, check out portforward.com) the screen shots may be different and you may have to fish around your modem to find the Port Forwarding section, but the number and infromation needed is the same.   that is step 1.    step 2 if step 1 does not resolve the issue, is to contact verizon tech support and request your line be changed from "interleave" to "Fast Channel" this will reqire them escalating the issue to your MCO but the change is very dramatic for gammers.   Dont' forget to give me Kudos.

  • WRT54G ver 6, MTU test fails when trying to connect to Xbox360 live

MTU test fails when trying to connect wirelessly to Xbox360 live.  Firmware is current.   I have a WRT54G version #6, Motorola Surfboard SB5101 Cable Modem, running AOL HighSpeed Broadband through Time Warner Cable.  Changing the MTU setting does not work.  I have tried several other suggestions found on these boards but nothing seems to work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you had already tried the settings i posted ... in such case you can do one thing .... access router setup page ... under Security ... uncheck block wan request ... click save settings .... Under Applications & Gaming tab ... click port range forwarding .... forward ports 88 & 3074 for the static Ip of the X-BOX ... click save settings . Click save settings ... check X-BOX live test ... if still shows the same error ... upgrade/reflash the firmware ...

  • WRT54G v. 6 router and an x-box

I have a WRT54G v. 6 Router, and I have an X-box. The router is used to connect my laptop wirelessly to my computer. Can I connect the x-box to my laptop and get a connection to x-box live, or do I have to connect the x-box to the router directly? The reason I am asking this is because I don't have a T.V. near my regular computer.
Oh yes, and does the game appear on the computer or on the T.V.?

  • Too low IP mtu vs ethernet mtu

    Hello,
If the switch gets packet on interface and the packets MTU is bigger, so it will constantly drop the packet ?
    now:
If the router gets bigger packet that its IP MTU, the router has an option to fragment the packet?
    Do i'am right ?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem Im using the Wrt54G linksys wireless-g router, changed the MTU to 1365, and am failing the xbox live mtu test. The router was fine at 1500, when I had my old motorola surfboard modem, I traded in for a newer model the Sb5120. And so far, no xbox. Dont know what else to do.  Xbox customer support is a joke.  Comcast is a joke. I dont know how to change the MTU setting on the modem, don't think thats the problem anyway its default is 1500.
I have the modem going to the router, the router going to the xbox 360. No xbox live tho.  Reset everything multiple times.  So now Im asking you guys for your help. Im gonna call comcast tomorrow see what they have to say, even tho the people there are monkeys with typewriters.... I should have never switched modems....

  • Time Capsule, Airport Express and Xbox Live

Recently I went out and bought a Time Capsule 1TB hoping to extend my wireless network. I knew that Apple products wouldn't usually help extend a DLINK network so it came as no surprise when I could not extend my DLINK network. My solution was to buy a new Airport Express, disable the wifi on the DLINK router and extend the Airport Expresses network via the Time Capsule.
The current situation is: DLINK <-> Ethernet <-> Airport Express Wireless Time Capsule <-> Ethernet <-> Xbox360
The issue is the Time Capsule as far as I can see. For apparently no reason it will change from a solid green status light to a flashing amber status light. Signing my Xbox into Xbox Live seems to be a trigger, but the Time Capsule goes amber even when the Xbox isnt on at all. When it does change to flashing amber I am no longer able to detect it within Airport Utility and as such am unable to diagnose the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Here it works fine. I have a Time Capsule connected to my ADSL modem. I had to buy an all new Airport Express 802.11n, though, because my old AE could not extend my network.
On an all 802.11n setup you just check the "Allow this network to be extended" on the master (Time Capsule), and choose "Extend a wireless network" on the remotes.
The X-Box is connected with an Ethernet cable to the Airport Express, and connection to X-Box Live works fine.
    Good luck!

  • Wireless to XBox Live?

I'm hoping this is the right forum and I apologize if it's not.
I'm planning on buying a wireless router to hook up to X-Box Live. So I was wondering if there's a preferred router to pick up that'll be compatible with my eMac?
Any help or info will always be appreciated
    eMac G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Any Ethernet-compatible router will work on a Mac, as long as it's a hardware one.
