X-Fi 2 crashes on particular songs

First post on the forums as I need some help. I'll guess I'll see how it goes.
I have a Zen X-Fi 2 32gb with the latest (Jan 200) firmware loaded. I don't use the Creative software but rather simply load my files onto the device via Windows 7.
The player has generally been a champ but for some reason when opening a particular set of mp3s it immediately begins skipping, then very quickly crashes and shuts down. Upon rebooting it will try to rebuild the library and most of the time it will freeze there as well, and I'll have to format the player through Recovery Mode to be able to use it.
I've checked the ID3 tags of the files and there's nothing out of the ordinary about them. The device currently works but only because I don't playback the files. I'm puzzled by this.
Has anyone had similar issues?

I am not surprised you have problems after rebuilding/scanning the file system as it seems that these tools try to fix the file system using an outdated copy of the FAT stored in the player, leading to serious file system corruption. It is sad, FAT file systems should be amongst the most reliable ones (of course, there are better ones like ffs, but these file systems are not as portable between different computers as FAT is).
About the audio files themselves, I would follow the advice of encoding them again. If in doubt, may I suggest using lame (http://lame.sourceforge.net/)? It is an excellent encoder that produces superb quality audio files. I had been using it for years to encode my audio CDs, and I am very happy with it. It does not only encode high quality audio files, but it is also available for free and ported either directly or as a part of other tools to most operating systems. I certainly will not spend money buying music from on-line resellers again, it is much better buying "real" audio CDs and encoding them using lame.

this has never happened before. I have one particular song that won't load at all, Logic crashes right away. I have no idea why,
I ran Disk Warrior on all my HD's but it didn't help at all.

It's probably a corrupted Plug In. Disable Core Audio in Logic's prefs, then open the project, all Plugs will be crossed out. Bypass them all, enable Core Audio again and bring back the Plugs one by one. As soon you've enabled the faulty Plug Logic will crash and then you know what to remove from your project.

IPod touch music crashes and skips songs

I've had this problem for a while now and it's truly getting annoying.
I will be listening to music and certain songs seem to cause the ipod to either skip the particular song or multiple,
and more and more often crash and send me to the home screen after skipping around 3 songs.
I've tried many solutions such as:
deleting certain album artworks
resetting the iPod
restoring the iPod
converting songs to 128 kbps
keeping all factory settings
turning off the equalizer
Even after all attempts, it still does this to me, I've even tried it on a second iPod touch, after returning the first and getting a second, and still, the problem persists with the new one. Which makes me think it is my music, but I don't know what would be wrong with the music as the songs that give me problems work fine on iTunes and my previous iPod shuffle.
My iPod is currently running the 8.1.1 version

I haven't distinguished all problem songs, (mainly because there are a lot) but the one's I have the only thing they all have in common are having been downloaded to the computer from a physical CD. That might be it. Would there be a reason songs downloaded from a CD would do that?

Logic crashes when opening song with EXS instrument

I'm having problem opening a L7 song that contains and EXS instrument. Can't get song open before logic crashes.
The song loads except for the exs file (stock sample in default library). "Loading audio files" for the EXS gets to the last wav file of the patch then stops, the command-period to cancel doesn't work. Logic freezes and L7 "not responding" and have to force quit. Ironically, this EXS patch works in a new song when loaded.
I think i have tried everything with project manager scans and prefs: rescanned project manager, removed the scans, changed all the project manager pref settings ("search using pm database only", unselected "pm on program launch", etc)
Its not just this song but backups / previous versions. Trashed logic preferences, etc but no change. This song also uses ewqlso (loads fine) but i have reduced the buffer on that and there should not be any memory problems.

Finally I got the free time to explin wht happened. Well, here is what happened to this particular corrupted song. I have heard rumours abound about OSX updates and EWQLxx but i have absolutely no proof of this just like I originally thought this was an EXS problem.
Anyways, I found a solution - With core audio disabled I emptied logic trash via key command, but did NOT reorganize song memory. That was the kicker for some strange reason.
So I think I figured out what some already know here but trying the three combinations (trash only, reorg only, or both together) may help solve similar issues.
Good luck, this one really blows under a tight deadline.

Recurringly skips opening and closing of particular songs

Dear me, this again proves why itunes is my least favorite part of owning a mac.
I have been having this problem over several iterations of iTunes. When attempting to play certain songs, iTunes will skip several seconds of the opening or ending of particular songs. Its always the same portions of the same songs; in some cases it amounts to about five seconds, and others (as in the case that prompted me to search for an answer with this post) it is over a minute of the song that will not play, even if I seek to within that portion of the song; it just skips over that portion (if it is the beginning, it skips into the song upon play, and if it is at the end it will just immediately skip to the next song).
My library mostly consists of mp3 formatted songs (generally no less than 192kbps). And I don't have problems with any songs in any other programs or on mp3 players, etc. I don't know if it is capable of causing this problem, but I use beaTunes, which has the option to designate cues to omit silence at the beginning/end of songs. I have never knowingly used this feature, and I don't think it is the cause of the problem.

Search for shared library is impossible, as far as I know. Searches supported - are local and internet.

When I do a search for a particular song in the iTunes store, how can I change the view for the results?

I have the latest version of iTunes. Today I did a search for a particular song. In the past, I used to get a list of the song and the various artists who recorded it, and I could click the little arrow and play a preview of that song before I decided to buy it. Today the results didn't display that way - instead, I got a page with probably 50 or 100 songs all spread out across the page, and the "writing" was all overlayed so you couldn't quite tell what you're supposed to see! I want to go back to the "list" view but couldn't find anywhere to change the view preference. Any idea how?

i was looking for a particular song, i found several covers of the band, but not the original....
the album it is on, isnt in itunes...but the artist's other albums are on itunes
i'm assuming its some sort of copywriting issue or something

The song is actually titled "Flagpole Sitta" and was released on their first album, Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone?, which isn't available on the iTunes Store nor on any download store that I can find. There may be licensing issues for download sales since the membership in the band has changed since that first album, or with Arena Rock, the record company that released that album.

If just one song on an album is doing that, that suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

IPod touch crashes when certain song played

I have got an iPod touch 4th generation, running iOS 5.0.1. It has many songs however when a certain album is played the device crashes. The song works perfectly in iTunes and other devices. What would be the best solution, if the 'solution' works that is? Resyncing the 2050 songs or shal i just go to the slowest solution and restore the 32GB ipod?

ITunes 6.0.4 won't play one particular song

I downloaded a song from iTunes and it play when I launch it from the Source "Purchased", but when I try to launch it from the Source "Library", the same song won't play.
So far, it only affects one particular song.
Any suggestions?

Here is another fly in the ointment.
When I take the one purchased song and put it into another playlist, the song plays fine. I just can't play it when I have the Library as the source.
Kinda strange..............
I threw out all of the old Library files just to make sure there wasn't any confusion.

why does Itunes say it can't find the original file for a particular song? and then asks if I want to locate it? I can't access a bunch of old song files. any new cds are available to me in itunes. all others are not accessible. how do i merge the new cd's with the old ones so that all the songs are playable in Itunes. thanks.

So... why not restore them from your backup? I am now convinced this a HUGE BUG in 7.7.1. and possibly the previous version or two.
I'm not so sure... I've never run across this particular error (my library is stored on my internal hard drive, but copied to an external for backup purposes with an application other than iTunes or Finder. I don't think Apple will provide acknowledgment to issues experienced only by very small numbers of people... I'm one of those, perhaps foolish, individuals who allows my computer to download updates immediately, rather than waiting for fear of problems, and again, I've never had this error.

Custom language for particular song's title

Hi,
I really like VoiceOver feature that reads a title of currently played song when you'll press remote button for a while, but it's not perfect.
My music collection consists of English, Polish, French and few Chinese songs and voice over tries to read it always "in English" (UI language). Only exception are Chinese songs that are being read by different voice in proper Chinese.
How can I set proper language for particular song?
In Nano 5G VoiceOver was generated by iTunes and everyone could define language for particular song, but 6G seems to synthesize speech on iPod, which is not an issue itself.
Issue is that I can't find a way to define language for each song separately.

Right click on the track in itunes and select get info. Then select "Options". On that screen you will see an entry for Language. It is most likely set to "Automatic" just select the language you prefer and you are good to go.
