X-Fi and Asus A8R-

I have the X-Fi music in an Asus A8R-MVP, and I'm getting the same issues as the NForce4 crowd with the ha20x2k.sys error when installing the drivers.
Oddly enough the sound card was working before, only the odd BSOD, but I did what that other thread did and flashed my BIOS, yeah now this thing is super unstable with this sound card in.
FYI, some manufactures/retail outlets void the warranty if you flash the BIOS, cause they've had people mess it up and make a mobo useless. So unless Creative wants to start replacing motherboards for people they shouldn't suggest flashing a mobo BIOS.
Anyhow, the rig is a AMD x2 3800+, 2GB Kingston PC3200, PATA 200GB Maxtor 8MB cache dri've, Sapphire X800XT, and of course the Asus A8R-MVP mobo. Yes I have disabled the onboard Audio/Game port/serial and paralle ports.
I just bought this X-Fi on Friday, it's Monday now, this is in one of my Wife's gaming Rigs and I get teh blame for when stuff goes wrong(I have my own computer).
I'm **bleep** tempted to swap out the A8R-MVP for a A8N-SLI-Deluxe although after reading some of these threads, I dunno.

Tiny little update on this... I hit a gold mine.
I was discussing this problem with a friend of mine, and ended up finding out his recently upgraded computer is also sporting an Asus A8R-MVP motherboard. Needless to say I was jumping up and down with joy as this gave me access to a second computer with the same motherboard in which to try my Fatalty card and dri've.
The results. Uh oh! Installed into his computer, we experience the exact same issue as in mine... the dri've bay does not show up, and none of the features function properly (remote control/auto sense headphones as two examples).
This would seem to support my theory that there is a hardware level problem between this motherboard model and the X-Fi dri've bay.
Course this isn't really good news, as a solution is probably not going to be very simple... and given consideration to the SCP threads I've read.
Oh well doesn't mean I won't try, several times.

  • X-Fi Fatal1ty & Asus A8R-

I just wanted to throw this out there as I continue to try and understand why a known to be functional X-Fi I/O dri've doesn't function at all with my current hardware setup.
Does anyone have the X-Fi setup with an I/O dri've (shouldn't matter if its Platinum or Fatalty I would think) running successfully on an Asus A8R-MVP motherboard? Where the remote controller functions, where it will autosense headphones and mute the speakers.
    Thanks!

i have asus m4a785td-v evo mobo. i ve bought 4 gb crucial ballistix ram today. it says on product its 1600 mhz and cl8 but it shows on my pc 1333 mhz and cl9.  when i was searching for this problem i came across this topic: http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Crucial-Ballistix-gaming-memory/Memory-Probleme-With-8GO-Crucial-Ballistix-and-Asus-M4A785TD-V/td-p/9464 can i apply the same settings? how can i fix that?  is it possible via bios settings? thx in advance and sry for my bad english. here is some screenshots:

I am not good at RAM setting but the 'Timings Table' shows there is XMP-1600 profile available so I believe it would be enough to turn on that memory profile in BIOS.

  • Remote Desktop Access with Mac and Asus Transformer Prime

I have an E2000 router with the most current firmware. I have a Sony VAio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,a Macbook with 10.6.8, and a new Asus Transformer Prime with ICS.My work desktop is a Dell Optiplex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I frequently work from home and have no issues remoting into to my work PC from by Sony laptop via VPN and RDP.However I have never been able to connect successfully to my work PC with my Macbook(using Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 for Mac OS) or Asus tablet(using WYSE Pocket Cloud RDP app for Android). I can however connect to the VPN itself on the Macbook and tablet without issue same as my Windows laptop. The other interesting part is I can connect via RDP when I am connected to a Mi-Fi 3g hotspot. So it is definitely something in the my Linksys E2000 blocking the connection for some reason. I have even set Port forwarding of 3389 with the ip's of both the Macbook and Asus tablet.I have also tried connecting via ethernet to the router with the same outcome. I cannot ping my work pc from either device as well.In addition the firewall on my work PC is completely disabled and all services related to Remote desktop access are enabled and running.Does anyone have any ideas?

For my tablet its own ip assigned by the router. Same with the macbook.the Pocketcloud RDP app also uses 3389.I have port 3389 set for both internal and external port and protocol "both" under the Single Port Forwarding tab in the router config.

  • Logitech Itouch 2.22 and Asus Update 6.x won´t install because of X-FI!Solution HER

Cat please pass that on to the driver Team.
Since I have installed (and many others here too!) the X-Fi card, I can not install my Logitech I-Touch and the Asus Update Software. Both quit with an error during setup. This all didnt happen before the X-Fi.
This is really no fun and I am getting a bit angry as the X-Fi Software seems to be a pile of beta. Also concerning CMSS 3D performance issues under BF2 but thats another story.
Every one else is invited to attach his/her problems with other software since the X-Fi install.
This needs to be adressed quickly!Message Edited by morphium on 2-07-2005 :3 AM
    Update:
evac has posted a workaround which indeed works! Thanks to evac!
    "Hey,
i asked logitech support and they told me to try the following:
    change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node
    to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\aWow6432Node
and voila, it worked! No problems when installing asus update and logitech itouch.
After installation you can change it back to the old entry."
I reverted back to the old setting after the Logitech Software installation and it still works. As for the Asus update I think it wont work after reverting back.
!!!Creative now get your homework done and bring a fix for this!!!
    Cat,
you should mention this in your FAQs as I think many people are affected.Message Edited by morphium on 2-07-2005 :35 AM

    Cat
I didn?t speak to the support yet as will run into nowhere with this issue when I might ring them up. I know this, as my friend who has a fatality with connection problems on the extension box concerning the microphone plug (sound comes in but it doesnt appear in the applications) got the suggestion to use the plug on the back of the sound card. I mean what kind of help is that? He has an extension box and shall use the back plugs of the card? Gimme a break.
Anyway. I do not want to uninstall/install everything again which is X-Fi related. I let it rest as it is without the mentioned software for the moment.
Moving the card to another Slot won?t help either as this is a software issue from the X-fi console or drivers.
Another member here reported already the same symptoms. No change on the system except the X-Fi -> Logitech+Asus Software strikes out.
Regarding the miscoding related to Quicktime 7 it is very obvious that some elements in the X-Fi software/driver do mess around with other software also.
I?ll make a try and ring the support although I do not expect much help. They will certainly refer to Logitech and Asus.
You could perhaps pass this on to the developer team.
    Thank you

  • GIGAWORKS AND ASUS REALTEK SOUND CARD will they work together or what sound cards are compatable?

S750 GIGAWORKS AND ASUS MOTHERERBOARD REALTEK SOUND CARD
My system currently used a built in sound card on the main board asus hd audio
I am wondering if these speakers will work fully with the built in sound card or will I need to purchase another sound blaster card?

Is your built in Realtek 7.1 analog? If so, does it have 3 output jacks for 7.1 or 4.1 If 4, you'll need a cable with 4 1/8th inch plugs on each end, if it's got 3 the included cable will work fine. Either way it shouldn't be a problem, although some onboard sound may not sound as good as a dedicated higher-quality soundcard as high quality speakers tend to bring out both the best and worst in your other sound equipment.

2X-Fi Titanium Fatalty and Asus P6T6 WS Revolution? Hello,
I have a very strange problem with my Creative Audio Card (X-Fi Titanium Fatalty) and my new mainboard (ASUS P6T6 WS Rev).
The system works perfectly well and fast. As soon as I install the Creative X-Fi card, the system (Vista 64-Bit) becomes extremely slow. I used slot6 which is X58 PCI-e 4x and should be sufficient but I also tried any other PCIe slot of the board. With the card installed, vista boot takes approx 0 minutes and the whole system is laggy, the card however is detected properly. If I remove the card, everything is back to normal. Latest drivers didn't change anything. Of course, I disabled onboard audio when I installed the card but it doesn't matter whether onboard audio is enabled or not. New Vista installation didn't help either (in fact the installation is already slow when the card is installed). I messed with all kind of bios settings but nothing really hel

  • 890FXA-GD65 with AMD Phenom II 1100T and Asus Radeon 6950 No Video Signal

I just did a new computer build with an MSI 890FXA-GD65 motherboard AMD Phenom II 1100T processor and Asus Radeon 6950 graphic card.
    I have a SATA hard drive and optical drive. Memory is Corsair XMS3 4GB PC10666 DDR3 1333MHz 4096MB.
When I turn the system on I have no video signal so I can't see bios. I tried taking everything apart and rebuilding and still nothing.
The power is on to the motherboard and graphic card. The motherboard has 2 LED indicators on.
I am a newbie with the new computer build and need some help. I accidentally pressed the clear CMOS while the power was on. I have no idea if this is going to mess up the motherboard.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Mike

I could not locate this on this specific motherboard. The one issue is that there is a CLR CMOS button on the back and I pressed this when power was on .
I know there is another way to clear the cmos with the jumpers but I didnt do that .
Anyway motherboard still powers up. I took it to a tech to check it out. Don't know anything as of yet. Thanks.

  • Issues with Arch, xorg and Asus eee 4G 701

Hello, this is my first post here
I installed Arch 2009.02 on my Asus eee 701(4G), the installation went well and the system was up and running within minutes. I configured the wireless card (Atheros) which arch supported out-of-the-box and updated the system with pacman -Syu. Then, I installed the intel driver for the vga of the eee and attempted to configure X.
The issues started at this point. "Xorg -configure" appeared to work, but when I did "X -config /root/xorg.conf.new" all I could see was the mouse cursor as an X and nothing more. The touchpad didn't respond and nothing worked.
Then, I tried using "xorgcfg" but even though the screen worked great (I could see the stuff displayed), the system couldn't receive any input from the touchpad and thus the result was just a little bit better than with "Xorg -configure". I tried to reboot and use a USB mouse to see if the cursor responded but to no avail...
As a last resort, I decided to use the xorg.conf found on the eee page of the archwiki. I downloaded it in my PC, saved it and used wget to move it from my ftp server to the eee. I moved it to /etc/X11/ as xorg.conf and attempted to run "X -config /etc/X11/xorg.conf" to see if it worked. Unfortunately, no result. xorg attempted to start and then quit with the error "Fatal server error:  no screens found".
That's pretty much it... I have no idea what to do next or why the xorg.conf found in the Arch wiki doesn't work... Any suggestions would be really appreciated...

I did what you suggested above, but it still fails. Then I studied the log and I found this:
Parse error on line 10 of section files in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
"RgbPath" is not a valid keyboard in this section
Any suggestions on how to solve this?
EDIT: OK, the discussion page on the Archwiki helped. All I had to do was remove the  'RgbPath "/usr/share/X11/rgb"' line and xorg worked flawlessly

  • Issues with MacBook Pro and Asus VW266H

I own a 2.4 GHz 15 inch MacBook Pro,and an Asus VW266H (external monitor) that I wanted to connect to my Mac via VGA,since the DVI is connected to my desktop computer. So I went ahead and purchased Apple's MiniDisplay Port to VGA adapter, and connected my Mac to my display. At first, the Mac didn't recognize the display with its name and would only go up to a resolution of 1920x1080(while the maximum resolution of the display is 1920x1200). I restarted the Mac with the display plugged in,and once the laptop booted up,the resolution was 1920x1200 and the display was recognized, but immediately quite a lot of trembling was noticeable. When the display wasn't detected properly(as an Asus VW266H) this problem wasn't present. I'm guessing that this is a compatibility issue, which by the way wasn't fixed by the latest EFI update by Apple, which improved external display compatibility. Does anyone have any idea if the problem might be something else other than lack of compatibility and/or how to fix it?
I know that neither the adapter nor the VGA cable have a problem since I connected the computer to my 1080p TV and it worked just fine...

    Concerning this comment:
I know that neither the adapter nor the VGA cable have a problem since I connected the computer to my 1080p TV and it worked just fine...
I would like to point out that 1080p has a lower pixel clock than will 1920 x 1200. So it could be the stability problem is only present when the pixel clock is at the high end of the range.
You could return the adapter and try another. A new one might have better margins. Another thing you could try is to use a utility like SwitchResX to lower the pixel clock and see if stability improves.
