X-Fi and Center Speaker Prob

Hi.
First of all sorry for my bad english.
i have a problem with my x-fi card and my center speaker.
my soundcard is connected to a sony dolby digital receiver via analoge cable connection. so three cables going from the soundcard to the receiver. the problem is, that my center speaker gives no sound. this happens whatever i do with the pc (playing games, watching dvd, eg.).
sometimes the speaker starts to work if i turn up the volume very loud or it starts to play after a certain amount of time for example if i run a game or play music.
the speaker itself, cables and speakers are fully operational. tested it with other audio sources.
i installed the newest drivers and even newest nvidia drivers. problem still resists.
my system is a amd athlon 64 3700+ on an msi k8n neo 4 platinum board with nforce 4. i have two 52mb kingston memory modules running in dual channel mode.

Well... Try this: switch the wires on your receivers input, to make for example the FL/FR to get the Subwoofer/Center signal of the soundcard. If you hear the center sound from one of the 2 speakers normally, then the problem lies in the receiver. Otherwise it may well be a faulty cable! Try another wire, or switch the cables on both ends this time to see if it makes any difference. (ie. use the FL/FR cable to connect the Sub/Center of the soundcard to the Sub/Center of the receiver)
I really think this could be the result of a bad connection...

  • Side, back, and center speaker on inspire p7800 not working, PLEASE HELP!

I have had the inspire p7800 speakers for awhile, and they worked great, the sound was really great. Then a little while ago, the side, back, and center speaker stopped working. If i turn the volume up, i can hear a kind of static noise in them, but when i play a game or listen to music they don't do anything. i have an Audigy 2 zs sound card, and i just installed all the creative mediasource software. I was using the speakers fine without the software, but i read on a different post, that you can turn on cmss in the EAX control panel. i installed all the stuff, but i can't find the EAX console anywhere on my computer. all the mediasource is is a music player, and a file converter. The speakers stopped working about a week before this, and i unplugged everything and repluged it. After that the center speaker didn't work, but the others did. but now only the front left, and front right speakers work. Please help me with this problem.

I just got the speaker system in today and was trying to set it up, I plugged all the wires in all the right places and the system would not power up. I saw the light for the wired remote flash just once. I thought it was? a power malfunction so I got a different power cord and tried it out, but still nothing...could somebody please help me. Thanks in advance.
If it doesn't power up then it's either the subwoofer or power adaptor that's faulty. So the only thing you can do is contact customer support or the vendor.

  • X-FI ExtremeMusic Center-Speaker Prob

Hi, I've got Problem with my Creative X-FI ExtremeMusic Soundcard.
    I have a 5. Sound-System but it won't recognize my Center-Speaker for some reason.
The Configures are set to 5. in the Creative Sound Options as well as in the Windows Audio Options. Reinstalling the Drivers a few times hasn't worked either.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    HateRabbit

I had the same problem before downloading a newer version of the creative control launcher. I was told to download the newer version in the creative sound blaster downloads menu. Choose your sound card then choose download application. In the applications menu choose creative control launcher and it will un-install the older version and re-install the newer one. This was my fix but it seems somethings work for some and not for others so keep posting.

  • 7.1 speakers and center speaker identification

I am trying to set up my speaker system again after moving despite the difference of wattage between the two front speakers and the center speakers I can not tell them apart for proper speaker configuration. How can I tell the difference between the 20 watt center speaker and the 8 watt front speakers?

If you have an nForce 2 motherboard with nForce audio it'll only support 5.1 channel output.
The T7900s come with a cable which has 3 jacks which go into your soundcard and 4 jacks which goes into the T7900s. I think you've the 4 ends which go into your speakers the wrong way around. Try connecting them differently.

  • Audigy 2 with THX550 set, Sound Problems, Rear and Center Speak

    Hi there !
Got a problem, everything worked fine before.
Same p.c. just an old and tired Windows 2000 Prof installation, moved to a new house, same computer, reinstalled everything with Windows XP Professional, and now.. my center speaker barely makes sound, my rear speakers.. the same. front 2 speakers blast with sound.
    Changed the wiring, no effect.
    Changed the settings, no effect.
Changed all the software, no effect.
I am lost for solutions.. does anyone know what is going on ?
The only thing i can come up with is that the volume for the center speaker and 2 rear speakers is not set right.. however in the software everything is set correctly.. even full power to the rear speakers wont increase their volume.
It also seems that the sound for the rear speakers is actually also coming from the front speakers.. real strange..
    Anyone? PLZ!!!
    Greetz,

    @MrClueLess
The settings are synchronised, everything is set right. I cant find anything wrong with it, using the latest version of drivers, software etc. I have no other sound sources connected on my pc other the my webcam.
a complete new fresh install of everything when i moved in where i am living now.
Only things different from previous setup is that a Hauppage TV card was removed, added a Logitech webcam with Microphone.
Already disconnected the webcam, no effect
Its really bugging me because this setup from the creative stuff makes good sound, now suddenly i cant even watch a dvd anymore, simply because i cant hear the people talk.. the center speaker just wont increase its volume (like the rear ones).

  • X-Fi Extrememusic center,front speaker prob

So I just got my X-Fi Extrememusic and installed the newest driver for it from creative's website. I didn't use the CD that came with it becouse it basicly just froze when i started it up(I'm using Vista 32bit) My computer found the sound card and everything went well, so far.
So i had the usuall RC97 soundcard before were all the speakers worked(5. system)
And yes, i uninstalled the drivers for the RC97 card before i installed the vista driver for the X-fi card.
But now that I've installed my new audio card the only speakers that seems to work is the rear when I play music. Even tho, when i test it at the speaker setup in vista the rear and the front speaker are making sound. The center and the sub tho, is not making any sound when i test them. Rare thing is tho, that the sub is working when i play music. The front is not tho.
Here comes the very odd part, when i change it to game mode, all the speakers are making sound on the sound setup in vista, not in the media players tho. But when i switch it to entertainment mode the sub and center is not making any sound on the sound setup.
Problem is tho, simply put, only speakers currently working are the rear and the bass.
How do i fix this? I've checked the set-up and cables, everything is right.

  • Center Speaker plays center sounds and rear sounds. Inspire 5.1 5300 speakers.

My inspire 5.1 5300 speakers are set up for 5.1 surround sound. I have CMSS enabled. I hear static from the rear speakers. Everything seems to be set up just fine. But when I run the speaker test the front right, center, and front left work. The rear left and rear right speaker sound comes out of the center speaker instead of the rear speakers even though the center speaker also gives out the correct test sound.
I have an audigy card, SB0090 is the model number. I don't know the retail name.

I dont see how the sub wont work. It has the seperate front, rear, and center in. The sub should work with just the front in as far as i know. My SBS 450 seems to work that way... i have yet to get my inspire 5.1 working but ill find out if i happen to..

  • 5.1 X-gamer and center channel of 5.1 speak

    Hello,
first post may as well be a good one..
Ive read the FAQ and tried the options listed. im working with a week old install so not much on the dri've other than world of warcraft and MS office. Im running windoze XP pro on a AMD Sempron 2500+(.75ghz) with gig of ram and a nvidia GEforce6800GT video card. I have had this sound card a while, like 5 or 6 years. Ive connected a brand new Logitech X-5530 sound system to my X-gamer 5. sound card. everything sounds awesome excpet the center channel. Ive connected the center channel to the main output jack and got sound, so i know the speaker is functioning. the sub and center channel share a line on the X-530 speaker wires and the sub is working. however i get no sound out of the center channel. I tested this with the Creative Audio HQ panel set on 5. speakers. all other channels i hear the "front right, front left" etc... but center channel is totally silent.
    any ideas?

Hmm, first go through windows control panel - sound and Audio Devices. Ensure you card is selected in all setup menus.
If "use only default devices is ticked, untick it.
Try S/PDIF and see if that works.
D/L this program - ?rightmark-3dsound-2.2 and run it just to tes things.

  • No sound from center speaker and static from Subwoofer

    Hello everyone,
I have used the search function and found several topics with the title "no center sound" but none of them had a usefull solution for me. I am using a Medusa 5. Headset and have connected it correctly. Note that the setup worked for over 3 years, but aperently recently something in the settings must have changed since I noticed playing Fallout New Vegas, that my center sound is missing.
    Here are some facts :
I am using Windows Vista home 64 Bit with the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer card
Using the Creative Console Launcher ver. 2.6.09 (Settings on Game Mode, CMSS 3D disabled, Crystalizer disabled and EQ disabled). Clicking the center speaker for testing, gives me no sound. Clicking on the subwoofer gives me a static sound. Going to the settings "Bass" and enabling Bass Redirection. Doing the same test gives me a "dull, hollow, silent, very far away, hardly hearable" sound on center and the subwoofer speaker, but not a usefull result.
Leaving the Creative Console Launcher and going to the standard Windows Vista sound menu, I can there click speakers for testing aswell. There is still no sound from the center speaker, however clicking on the subwoofer gives me a very nice bass sound, so working as intended for the subwoofer.
I tested the center/subwoofer connection by connecting it to my Ipod, speakers are working.
All drivers and application are the latest version.
On the webpage of Speedlink (the manufacturer of my headset) they refer to a THX Console. I am sure I have seen that application on my system long time ago, but it is not installed anymore. I can't find it on the creative page either, so I am a bit confused where that program went (and even if it can help my problem).
I am 99% sure it has to do with a setting somewhere in the software, but I can't find it. Any idea?

    Hi,
Can you please launch your Creative Console Launcher and click on the Default checkbox? That should reset everything back to it's default settings. Run the speaker test again to see if you are getting sound from the center speaker.
If possible please test the sound card on another computer, that should help you find out if the sound card is faulty or not.

  • Audigy 4 (Non Pro) and center channel surround sound - from 2 channel aud

Hi all,?Is there a way to have voice coming from the center speaker during TV programs like you could using an external receiver with Pro Logic? I can't for the life of me, get my Audigy 4 to do this. I run MCE 2005 on a couple of machines in the house. On my other machine, with built in audio, I let the Purevideo decoder handle this and I get? a nice surround, complete with center channel voice on it while watching TV. On the machine with the Audigy 4, not only will it not give me the center channel while watching TV, but I can't get it to stop processing the sound so that I can simply use the decoding of the Purevideo Decoder... Stumped!?Thanks,?Stu

  • Can't here my center speaker on my Inspire 5.1 p5800

I got inspire 5.1 p5800 speakers and my sound card is an sound blaster audigy platinum.
When i do test my center speaker works out find, but when i play music of any audio file type, video of any file type, dvd in 5. mode and games in 5.1 mode I can't here my center speaker.
If I put the speaker of to my ear I here low volume sound (very low volume).
    Can anyone help

I found media player that will play the center channel now!If you have it use intervideo dvd 6 as a music player.
and set it for the 5.1 of course and I like movie surround more than music surround
one thing i love with p5800 speakers base is that at only 83% max base on sound card turned on and only 50% base on speakers turned on its one heck of a loud base
its all based on what files are 5.1 and which are not and win dvd platinum can force the upmix to make the center speaker work if the stuff isn't 5.1 .
like windows media player has 5.1 but doesnt change the play back of things that arn't 5.1
I dont know why on some dvds on media player you set to 5.1 the center channel doesn't work though.
But at least as long as your 5.1 mode turned on in intervideo win dvd 6 platinum the file will always play 5.1 even if the file is mono sound.
another good thiong about intervideo win dvd 6 is that it plays the divx and to me the performance is better than my divx pro....

  • Center speaker playing through su

can anyone please help, for some unknown reason my center speaker is playing through my sub woofer,? i have a soundblaster li've 24bit external, with a logitech 5. surround system. every thing else works, except center speaker playing through sub, i don't understand how this could be. any info would be great. thanks, Rick

I've dabbled around, and increased the default volume for centre speaker to around 80%. This seemed to have fixed the problem. I must admit, this is rather embarassing. lol.
But is this really the source of the low volume? Or is my increament of volume from default a compensation of it's
    Thanks
edit: i used Creative Mixer to do itMessage Edited by kimhu on 03-04-200604:36 PM

  • No sound from my center speak

Hello,?I have a sound blaster audigy 2 card and 5. logitech THX speakers. I can not get any sound out of my center speaker. I used ot have a diagnostic program that tested my speakers and would let me reset them if I encountered a problem. I can no longer find that diagnostic problem. If anyone can help me by either knowing how to get sound back or how to get that diagnostic tool back I would be greatly appreciati've. Thank you for your help and your time.

What?kind of speaker system are you using if I may ask? I believe the card has only 3 holes to connect speakers to and line-in?where your surround set might have more. If you've got a Creative Inspiron set or something similar you might want to check if the cables which go into the central unit, the subwoofer in most cases, are connected properly?too. Greetings,
    M

  • Place Mac Mini next to Castle Bastion Center speaker, will it kill the HD

    Hi,
I just bought a Mac mini as replacement for my Apple TV. The Apple TV was right under the TV, sitting on it's stand, and about 7cm below was the center speaker. Now I want to place an external HD and my Mac Mini right next to my Castle Bastion Center Speaker. Will this damage my Mini's HD or the external HD drive. I don't know if this center speaker is shielded or not.. I've also read pc mag article that there is nothing to worry about, but what are your experiences? I'd rather be on the safe side then not... but there is more than enough room for Mac Mini next to the speaker, so why shouldn't I put it there... help!!!??

I notice you mention being limited to a 4:3 resolution with the VGA connection. If you use composite or S-video you will be using an SD signal, which will normally just be 640x480, which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. The VGA and component connections should offer the highest resolutions. What is the model number of your projector, as I can find very little information about the Illumina series - and what I can find relates to 4:3 only.
