X-Fi Driver Won't Save Setti

First of all, X=FI rules! The sound quality and placement on my 24 bit 5. speakers is unbelievable.
Now, on to the problem. I usually keep the mode set to Game, so I can take advantage of the EAX 5.0 effects in all my favorite new games. However, when I change a setting in it, such as the 24 bit Crystalizer or the Microphone input, on reboot or even sometime while I'm still running the game, the settings will reset. This is quite annoying, especially when I'm talking to someone on my mic and suddenly all he can hear is "WHAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHA". I have an X-Fi Platinum, specifically, and I'm not sure what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, as I said, I'm using the Game console. The all the software and driver versions are the ones it shipped with.

  • Output Module preset "Use Comp Frame Number" won't save setting

I have an Output Module Template for my DPX sequences.  I have the "Use Comp Frame Number" box checked, but upon restart of AE, the setting resets itself to Unchecked.  If I re-check it in the template settings, it works until I restart AE.  I have tried deleting the Template and rebuilding it but no luck.
I am using the most recent AE 2014 build on Windows 7.  Ideas?  Thank you!

Is your Output Module Template the first template in the list (alphabetically)? There is a known issue where the Use Comp Frame Number control is not correctly remembered in this case. To work around this, rename the template so it is not the first in the list. ex., Put it at the bottom of the list or put another template (maybe a dummy template?) above it.

  • Won't save as a version with photos on external hard drive

Ok...think this is my last problem of the night. At the end of each month I move all of my photos from my laptop to the external hard drive, but when I finally get around to editing them while they are being accessed from the external hard drive it won't save them as a version of the original photo. That box is actually grayed out on the "save" screen in the Editor.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Amy

My mac won't save to a flash drive. It always says the disc is full when there is plenty of space. Solution pls?

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions,
Did you get the flash drive from a reliable source. There are some available on the net that show a large capacity but are only 512 mb. or 1 gb. drives that have been altered to display a much larger capacity.
    Good luck,

  • Set value of screen saver to never won't save

    So I wrote this script:
    tell application "System Preferences"
    activate
set current pane to pane "com.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect"
    end tell
    delay 1
    tell application "System Events"
    tell process "System Preferences"
tell slider 1 of group 1 of tab group 1 of window "Desktop & Screen Saver"
    set value to 361
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
which works quite nicely to set the value of the screensaver in preferences to "never"
The problem is, when system prefs closes or moves on to another pane, and I reopen it, the screensaver has not been set to never, it is back where it was before!
So what am I doing wrong?
    Please help!

The UI of System Preferences is geared to manual user input, so when you're writing a GUI script there is a penalty for using precise value adjustments like that. You'll have more success with the blunter user-like instruments, such as banging on the keyboard…
click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">tell application "System Preferences"
    activate
set current pane to pane "com.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect"
tell current pane to reveal anchor "ScreenSaverPref"
    end tell
    delay 1
tell application "System Events" to tell front window of process "System Preferences"
tell slider 1 of group 1 of tab group 1
set value of attribute "AXFocused" to 1
    end tell
    repeat 7 times
key code 124 -- right arrow
    end repeat
end tell</pre>Edit: this was meant to be a response to the OP, I clicked the wrong button. Good suggestion NS.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 won't save scanned document in searchable PDF or .rtf format

HP Officejet Pro  8600 won't save scanned document in searchable PDF or .rtf format
The scanner scans the document without a problem but when I select 'SAVE' and
specify a location and file name, a system error 'The HP scan application was
unable to save the file to the specified location'.  It will save a regular PDF file
or a  JPG file with no problem, but trying to save an searchable PDF or .rtf file
results in the above mentioned system error.
This problem occurs either from HP SCAN or from the 8600 scan panel.
The computer is running Windows XP and the I.R.I.S. OCR software is
    loaded.

    Hello TrailsEnd,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving an error message "The HP scan application was unable to save the file to the specified location". I will do my best to assist you!
First, I would recommend downloading this tool called the Print and Scan Doctor. This tool diagnoses and helps resolve common printing, scanning, and connectivity problems, including: (This information is stated here.)
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test : Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check : Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager : Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online : Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue : Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match : Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts : Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues : Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings : Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print : Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests : Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
Let me know if this tool fixes a scanning problem on this post. If this doesn't resolve your issue, then I am going to recommend uninstalling the software. Please follow this HP document on Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once this is complete, you can perform a clean boot on your computer. I will provide a Microsoft document here to help you. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program. Now, you can install the full feature software from the HP website here.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

  • After FLash, won't save CMOS settings, trys to boot from network

MS-6712 board, flashed BIOS, now 7/29/03 v1.9, with AMD XP 2500 Barton.
Win XP, plain old home computer on dialup.
I flashed BIOS, now it will not let me enter BIOS by pressing DEL key.
It boot to screen that says "Press to display network boot option
If you ignore, it says "Try network boot first, then local drives" and goes to a screen CMOS settings wrong. F1 to enter setup, F2 to load defaults"
If you SHift-Tab, it says press R for RPL, P for PXE, any key to load local drive.
No matter what you press, it comes to the CMOS Setting wrong screen.
I flashed BIOS, CTRL-HOME back to old BIOS - same message, so then and back to new one again, etc.  I did a FIXMBR and FIXBOOT in windows XP.  No luck. The problem is that even after setting up BIOS to boot from hard drive, etc, ad save changes and restart, it won't remember the settings.  The battery is also testing at proper volt.  I did just replace bad RAM after upgrading to AMD 2500, but it was fine before I flashed.  PLEASE HELP!!!!  By the way, I can understand technical instructions and PC terms (I think)

  • Files won't save in folders

I just purchased Final Cut Studio today. I'm going through the tutorial and my files won't save in the folders created for the tutorial on my HD. I go to "send to" for Motion and Motion opens and asks for a data rate. Then when i choose one Motion opens it's window but there is no project. Any clue?

If you copied the files to your hard drive before working with them, make sure you have permission to both READ and WRITE to all the files involved. Highlight a file and hit Command i (Get Info) to see how the permissions are set. You can change them there if needed.

  • Boot Camp Assistant Can't Move Files? Image won't save ('resource busy')

I've been trying to set up boot camp and every time I go to partition the drive I get this message:

Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.
My drive is already set up as an OS Extended (Journaled) volume. I went to try to save a disk image and it won't save b/c it always says resource is busy. Well obviously I need to use the computer to back up it's own hard drive so of course it's busy.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you sure you had enough free space on the drive for the Windows partition you tried to create? Have you tried repairing the drive?
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Can I directly back up my itunes files to an external hard drive? To save my internal hard drive.

Can I directly back up my itunes files to an external hard drive? To save my internal hard drive.

If your intent is to remove the songs from your computer's internal drive you don't want to manually move them because iTunes won't know where they are. The safe way to perform this move is to start iTunes, open iTunes Preferences, and select the advanced tab. Plug in the external drive if it isn't already.
Using the picture above as a guide, (1) click on the Change button and select your external hard drive. (I created a Music folder on my external drive because I keep more than just music on it). 2) Click to put checkmarks in the boxes marked (2) and (3) and then click on the Ok button. This sets the stage for copying the music to your external drive and will make sure all your new music is put there as well.
The last step is to select the File menu, choose Library, and then Consolidate Library. This actually moves the music. Depending on how large your music library is and the speed of your external drive this will take a few minutes to a few hours.

  • My clone external hard drive won't boot - start up?

    Hi,
I am selling my MacPro and need to clone its system drive for the new lap top I will buy soon. So I bought a new external 2TB HDD from OWC. I have found that this external HDD will not boot up, even though it says it is bootable, and appears in the Start Up prefs when I select it. It sppears on the desktop, doesn't make any weird clicking noises as well.
I am using 10.6.8 OS X. The 2TB HDD has two partitions (created with DU), one is bootable (Mac OS X extended journaled), and the other is a regular HDD space for media etc. It is GUID. It has "Ownership" checked in the info box.
I used CCC 3.4.4 and since this is 'hopefully' a one time deal, selected the 'Delete anything that doesn't exist on the source' setting. I cloned my system drive to the bootable space and had no problems with the transfer. Plenty of space to write all the files. I even made sure everything was checked in the 'source' window that a system drive might need. Everything was checked.
I spoke with a representive at the OWC Sales company and checked that this HDD can be used as a bootable drive.
I checked the connections: with external HDD with FW800, and Sata connectors. I have checked it with my Mac Book Pro as well. Same result. No boot.
I really don't understand why this drive won't boot, since everything looks correct.
Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, ideas for fixing this issue?
    Thanks
    M

Not sure if you managed to get this issue resolved yet Marcus, but I too have a similar problem:
Currently I'm upgrading from Leopard to Lion (via Snow Leopard) on both an iMac and MacBook Pro (both Intel), but before I proceed with the OSX upgrade I wanted to back everything up. Thus far I have partitioned an external firewire drive (G Drive - one that is bootable), and cloned each machine using Carbon Copy Cloner to it's own partition (both GUID). There is plenty of space left over on each partition.
The issue - I can boot the OS X from the external drive on the MacBook Pro but not on the iMac.
When I restart and hold down Option on the iMac the only drive that appears is the HDD, not the other two selectable drives that are visible if I boot up on the MacBook Pro. On the iMac in System Prefs > Startup Disc I can see all 3 drives but when I select it and restart, the machine freezes on the grey loading screen and goes no further.
Not that it should make a difference, but there is a 3rd partition on the external drive that is currently empty (for extra storage).
Any help is greatly appreciated - I can't find any relevant answers elsewhere. Thanks,
    Dan

  • Hard Drive won't mount in Yosemite

I just updated to OS X Yosemite... as soon as I plugged in my external hard drive, I noticed it wouldn't mount (Toshiba Canvio 3.0, formatted mac os extended journaled). It will show up in disk utility but won't mount, and isn't solved running first aid. Was working fine the day before I updated.
I have around 800 gigs on this hard drive, most of it is essential photography and video files. I cannot wipe the drive, and I don't have space to create a disk image on my macbook. If I have to, I can buy a new drive.
    Please Help!

I did everything right, formatting my 2T WD Passport to "journal" etc. at the same time I was upgrading both my MacPro and my iMac to Yosemite.  So, I was sort of in-between OS.
At first, it worked fine.  But the last Yosemite upgrade or patch or whatever blotted it out entirely.  Can't find it anywhere or anyway and now I know I'm not the only one having this trouble.
I'm lucky-- I will lose no data if I reformat "in Yosemite as of 11/20/2014" and put all the data* I was saving on a second time, (although I wonder what would happen if Yosemite again mutates.)
*All I was doing was making a sort of backup and second drive for my laptop, so the data is all on my laptop.
Is the general consensus that WD peripheral hard drives DO work when set up as Mac journal in Yosemite?  Or are solutions still inconsistent?
Am pretty sure I've seen WD Passports for sale in my Apple store.  Please keep me in the loop-- this is actually my first day in the support forum and I'm troubled because I've found a lot of people are reporting similar problems,
