X-Fi Elite PRO and Vista: dropouts and no sound. Only Changing mode in Audio-Console helps

Hi... Please help me. I have an X-Fi Elite Pro and I am experiencing a very strange problem in Vista 32. Before using Vista, I had no problems at all in XP. Sometimes when I listen to the music (Winamp) and then after listening the music start watching movie, the sound dissappears. I mean the EQ of Winamp freezes and there is no sound at all
!!! Only if I switch audio-console (in Configuration menu) to Games mode (or an other one) and back, the sound comes back... Sometimes it happens, sometimes not. It is very strange. Please, do you know a solution for that?!

In no way a 300W Power Supply has enough power for all your stuff.
2 HDD's, a power-hungry Pentium, a xfi card, dvd burner and many other stuff ...
Problems like this can happen then if your power supply has not enough power to handle all this stuff.
Get a better powersupply that can handle your stuff and I am sure it will work again. In a few cases its also possible that YOU damage your hardware on this way, if it can not get enough stable power, it might mess up your hardware. I also already blowed up a harddisk one day because I have connected too much stuff to one cable. I had 3 HDD's, Mainboard, Lights, Fans and DVD connected to one single cable. All devices there did not get enough power, harddisks made crazy sounds (on/off/on/off very fast) and after that one of my HDDs was bad.
But no ... you can't blame anyone for this. In 99% a bad power supply should not damagae your hardware, it will just make sure it does not work anymore. Since you installed that hardware, YOU are responsible for this. If a hardware-dealer would have to install this card for you, it would be his fault, but now its yours.
BTW: Why do you expect that a 300W suppy is enough!? I mean really ... think about it! See what todays PS can do, take a look how much your pentium already needs ... There are at least 00W gone for your CPU, another 00 for your Videocard and just 00 left for ALLLL the other devices like your harddisks (20-30W each one), DVD, mainboard, soundcard ... In no way this will be enough. You must have missed the last 5 years ...
BTW: I don't think that the software audio console would not work when not having connected the y-power cable. I forget that cable too one time. My console did still work, just in games I got some strange problems a lot of times (no more sound for -2 minutes, crackling and other poroblems) which got solved after I plugged in the power-cable to soundcard.Message Edited by Homey-GER on 0-7-200705:42 AM

Elite Pro and vista, creative console resets after ever reb

So, I've given up trying to search for the answer and I have no clue how to go about fixing this problem.
If I boot into visata 32 Ultimate, and go and setup my audio console the way I like it then reboot, it will reset itself to defaults when I boot back into windows.
basically its not saving my configuration. Why does this happen and how can I fix this? It doesn't sound the same as the Digital output resetting itself. I have the latest drivers installed on a clean slate...why does this still happen?

yep , i see they are supported, the same is mentioned on the drivers download page,
it states that DTS has been re enabled on devices that supported it on XP when they were originally released.
so i have the elite pro, wich supported dd and dts, and still i get no sound form any dvd in dts or even sound from my PS3 input via optical to the external I/0 of the elite pro.
and i have been told that i would need to buy the dts pack.
why ? when i already paid ?250 for the card that supported it from the moment i bought it ?
dts input support was one of the reasons i bought this card in the first place.
i might as well sell this and use my onboard optical output and buy an amplifier that supports dts, at least then ill know that there are no drivers/support problems
?creative you might make the best sound cards out there but that alone only gets you half way there. us customers we need support and value for our money?

5.1 sound X-Fi elite pro and DTT3

Hi all?Ok, so I have an X-Fi Elite Pro, and the DTT3500 speaker setup from Creative. Both very expensi've where I li've. I could get 5. sound from my SB Li've! 5. digital, but no such luck on the X-FI. I've read all the posts, but when speaking to Creative tech support they tell a different story. I know I can get 5. (supposedly) from DVD etc. via co-ax or optical. How do I get 5. from other apps (such as VideoStudio) or games (BF242, etc.) that do not output DD or DTS?I've tried flexi jack to DIN (from card rear panel to the speaker amp), DIN to DIN (from break-out box to speaker amp) and 3 x 3.5mm stereo to DIN (from card rear panel to speaker amp) Nothing works. I get headphone sound obviously, and can get plain stereo sound (although I didn't get this setting right for optical; works with co-ax though)?(excerpt from tech support mail)

I have never installed the updated applications available in the download page... just applications and driver for Vista 64bit inside the cd and i updated the driver with the latest one. Anyway, I: Reformatted and installed Vista.
Installed Chipset Drivers.
Installed Video Drivers.
Downloaded and installed JUST the latest SB drivers and i have that **bleep**-ing error window...Guys, it's 2 years i try to install Vista...Have i to destroy this sound card If i have to change it, i'll never buy another creative product in all my life (and till today i have bought 3 sound cards, 2 webcam, 4., 5. and 2. speakers for every computer we have in the office...). TV/ SKY Digital Sound Through MY X-FI Elite Pro and Gigaworks s

Hi i am trying to find out if i can get sound from my tv/sky digibox to pass through my gigaworks s750's.
I have just got hold of a new Sony Widescreen TV and a sky digibox both seem to to have audio out right and left on the back of them. On the computer side of things i have a X-FI Elite Pro and the Gigaworks S750's.
Im not sure about all of this so was hoping somebody in here could help.
Any Help on what i need to do or buy would be great

Hey man, thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I started messing around with the Phono 2 dials on the unit and was having no luck what so ever. I then wanted to try my microphone to make sure that it was still working from all the changes I had made. Well, when I hit the record button and talked into my mic it showed something being recorded, so I knew my mic was still working... But.... when I played the recording, It was the recording from the T.V.!!! At this point I knew I was close to getting this issue solved.

I ended up having to open my "Sounds & Audio" controller within the Windows XP Control Panel and then going to the volume section of the XF-I card and then going to file, properties, and then check the "Phono 2" port off so that I could see it listed with all of my other volume and sounds controls. I then un-muted it as you said and Bam!!!!!!! Guitar Hero on my PS2 was pumping out at my full 500W!!!! I nearly went death from the experience, but it was very gratifying!!!

Thanks for your post. It really helped to point me in the right direction. I'm now thinking of digitizing all my vinal records now into MP3's too! Thanks again man, you?re the bomb!

thing is i recently had to format my computer, before which i was getting surround sound through my speakers and headphones normally.
however i can now only get sound through my headphones.
I have the latest drivers installed and i am bald due to pulling all my hair out

There's a setting in the mixer software where it instruct the soundcard to mute the speaker when headphone is connected to the I/O dri've bay. Perhaps you can check if that setting has been enabled.

Help with Optical Audio, w/X-Fi Elite Pro, and Logitech Z-5

Hi,
I need help with optical audio on my X-Fi Elite Pro, and Logitech Z-5500 speakers. I have everything connected, and sound comes out, but NO 5. Surround. This is pissing me off beyond belief. I have it all connected, and set to 5. Surround, and on my Logitech's I have it set to opical in, and have tried ALL effects, stereo, strereo 2x,[Dolby Sign] PL II Movie, [Dolby Sign] PL II Music. I have tried the sound card set for an external decoder, and the sound cards' decoder, and tried both with all optical settings on the sound card. It doesn't give me surround with optical... And I would REALLY appreciate help.
My drivers are up to date.

Except if you send DD/DTS multichannel sound to your receiver, you'll not have surround sound with digital connection. did you read the stikies?

Check for the latest updates. Installing latest updates should resolve this problem.
Also, try to ran disk repair using safe mode in Mac, for instructions please visit: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14204
Try enabling root user profile on mac and try to check. OS X Mavericks: Enable and disable the root user

Id choose the I5 yes, depends on what your usage is going to be,
....your question about "128 gig being enough" begs the question for IDEALIZED USE of your macbook AIr
In the case of a Macbook Air with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace. You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
*Generally, unless you NEED the data at least once every few weeks or once a month,...it really does'nt NEED to be on the SSD of your Macbook Air.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.
Ive got more APPS than any human should have on my 128gig AIR,..(50 or so),....and 10gig of working data, important files etc etc.
Still have 82gig available....... the entire point is that someone shouldnt consider the Air a "storage device" for tons of pics, music, vids, etc.
*Never consider any computer a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device. Anyone who thinks data is safe on any computer, even copied upon multiple partitions is making a mistake that will, without fail, strike.
For needs of packing around a LOT of "big data" with your Air in its case..., get a nice 1TB HD for $70, or even a 2TB drive not much bigger.

Unless you go back to the original owner, yes you need to pay for it again.
You're entitled to the OS that shipped with the device from Apple, but if you don't have that media there's nothing you can really do. If the system originally shipped with 10.7 or 10.8 then when you boot it to Internet Recovery, it will automatically offer you that OS version (as the serial # is registered with Apple). If it shipped with an older OS, then you need to enter the Apple ID that purchased 10.7 or 10.8. You didn't purchase it so that's not you.
The options you have are to buy Lion for $29 US (I don't know the price in Palestine), or Mountain Lion for $19 US (don't know the price in Palestine either), and install from scratch.
And it's a good idea to know you have restore media before you reformat your machine.

X-Fi Elite Pro and Vista, unable to start GRAW and GRA

Help,?Is there anyone using this version of card in Vista and playing GRAW. I cant get the game started at all with the x fi elite pro enabled, Hangs on initial splash screen, around 50% of progress bar. It will work in XP, I have done many installls of OS, using both the drivers on the CD and the latest web release drivers. Would just like to know if i am the only one in this boat, many people are playing this game in vista with the music and gamer version card but none that i know have the elite pro version. Hi guys,i have a problem with my x-fi elite pro.When install the latest driver(SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_5_0002) works fine but when i close the pc or reboot a strange sound comes through the speakers and no audio. I wonder if this is a problem of my x-fi or just the software. I run creative diagnostics and find it ok,but when i test the chanells works only left. Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

May I ask what makes you so sure its Creative drivers? I dont have that problem with these drivers? Even if the problem is sound related it could be something to do with Vista, or that you are using corrupt codecs? Or something like that, im no CL fanboy thats too blind to see that CL isnt perfect, but sometimes people take for granted that when some issue is related to sound, it automatically is CL driver/hardware problem?! And you could be right, it can be Creative, but it hasnt have to be. Try re-installing youre video/audio codecs, and try re-installing youre video software if youre using third party player. I know i have problems with streaming, but my problems arent Creatives fault, its more of an issue with Adobe Flashplayer/Quicktime not working properly with 64-bit drivers/OS.

X-Fi Elite Pro and Radeon 5870

Hello, I've just added Radeon 5870 to my system. I observed some strange behaviour of my X-Fi Elite Pro since then.
Sometimes, when the sound goes really deep it sounds distorted. It never happened before neither with Radeon 3870 nor 4870.
Did you encounter this problem too? I'm thinking about ATI drivers, since they are in the eraly stage.
Every help is appreciated.

The software is named as MediaSource Audio Converter. It comes w/ the MediaSource package which can be found at support/downloads too.
BTW, XtremeAudio is not based on same hardware that those othed X-Fi (PCI) models are so, if you have Li've! 24-bit/Audigy SE/Value or any Audigy 2/4 card there already then you perhaps don't get any other advantage but those couple of bundled additional software only (as like the Chrystalizer).
You can rip CDs and record audio directly to mp3 format by simply using MediaSource Player ... I don't know if there are support for edit VOB or DAT format files (least creative wavestudio 5.0 didn't support) but, supposeingly, there are 3rd party software for this task available.

X-Fi Elite Pro and Logitech Z-5500D Speaker se

Hi everybody,
I know there are many threads about the X-Fi and the Logitech Z-5500D but reading all these discussions didn't clarify some things for me.
My first question is: I'm a music lover.. from Classical to Shakira what are the best settings for the X-Fi Elite Pro in conjunction with the Z5500D speakers? I like a normal bass level not the boomy one which has the Logitech by nature.. and a natural sound.
My second question: I have a Xbox360, a DVD player and a Mediacenter 2005 PC (which contains the X-Fi). The Xbox360 and the DVD player are having a Toslink Optical out, but the Z5500D has only one Toslink Optical in, are there any Y connectors for this? or are there any optical-to-coax converters to use the coax SP/DIF connector of the Z5500D?
My last question: Is it recommended to use the normal three mini jacks on the rear of the X-fi for 5. surround out to the Z5500D or do i get better results with the Toslink or the coax out?

Difference between Elite Pro and Elite Pro L

Hi I will soon buy the Elite Pro but I have newly seen that there is two models of this card availble the "old" one and the new L6. The pricedifference is about euro less for the L6 (at my local netdealer) but no specifications availble yet for this card.
I have looked at soundblaster.com but only find the elite pro not L6.
Anyone here who knows ?

How could anybody know? There is no available info about a?"L6" card, official or unofficial. Is it in stock where you saw it advertised? have you tried to contact the store to ask for the differences?
