X-Fi Elite Pro, Awful high pitched squeel coming from the back of my computer(not my speake

I have this annoying noise, it is much worse when music is playing. I checked an the X-FI is on its own IRQ. It is there even if I mute every single output. If I move my mouse it changes pitch a bit.
If I alt tab windows it also stops for a bit then as soon as the main window opens it comes right back. When I open an application it also stops for a second while it loads.
When I play music it increases in intensity. It happens when my speakers and headphone amp are turned off. I have tried muting all outputs and it doesn't help.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I tried switching floppy connectors and I moved the X-Fi as far as I could from my gfx card. Made no difference. If anything it is louder now and it is driving me nuts, if I move my mouse the sound goes away.

  • Macbook Pro and high-pitch sound, please help!

    Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch that is almost brand new. I just got it 3 months ago for my birthday. About a month or two with my new computer I started hearing a high-pitch sound comming from the computer. The sound only lasts about 3-6 seconds and it goes of at random times. It might make the noise 5 times in one day but then it might go away for 3 days, totally random. The sound comes if the computer is sitting there or is being used. After about 3 months of this going off I deceided to bring it to the Apple store in New Haven, CT. Does anyone have the same problem?
After bringing my computer in and telling them the problem, they tested in for about 30 minutes. Everything was fine. No fan problem or hardrive problem. I brought the computer back home and within 3 days the sound is back. I drove to the Apple store again told them my problem, again, and they did they same test with no results. Brought it back home, noise is still there. This time im starting to get angry, they arent offering any solution. I bring it back and they take it for about 48 hours and do a extensive check. Nothing was found. I bring it home again and the noise is still there. My father and I went to Apple pretty angry and told them that we appreciate the time they take but something really needs to be done. They have sent it out for 3-5 days and we are awating a phone call to see whats wrong.
I am hoping that they find something or if they dont can they can replace my computer? I am not spending hours of my own time and gas money going back and forth to Apple for no reason..the Genius bar guys have been no help telling us basically that we are lying and that there is nothing wrong when clearly there is. What can I do? Has anyone had this same noise come from their computer? I really appreciat everyone that decideds to throw some input in. Thank you so much.

Make a recording of the sound so the next time you take it in you can let them hear it. It might be best to do a video of the unit so the sound is combined with pictures/video of the computer so they know  the sound is coming from it.
IMHO the guys at the B-bars are just about useless for this type of thing. If it isn't a bad drive, HDD or DVD, and the system seems to run OK (actually even if it doesn't run OK but runs at all) they will say "Everything looks OK". Or if the thing is dead they can help. That help will be "You need a new HDD" "You need a new DVD drive" "You need a new Logic board" and that's about it.

  • 2011 MBP 17" 2.3 GHz - High pitch hissing sound from left speaker

When I transfer large amounts of data (wifi and ethernet) I get a high pitch hissing sound from the left speaker. When the transfer is done, the hissing stops.
Is anyone else experiencing this and is there anything I can do to stop it?
When it occurred: I was transferring data from my old MBP to my new 2011 MBP first via WiFi, then by Ethernet (much faster . My old (2007) MBP had not hissing what so ever, by my new MBP was rather loud. I'm very happy it's only when using the network.

I get this sound every time I download, WiFi or Ethernet it dosen't matter the sound is the same. I can't guarantee that it's from the speaker, I have an old Netgear switch that sounds the same when I use it (just to clarify: I'm not using that switch anymore or ever have with this MBP)
So it could be some electrical sound (I'm not a hardware engineer) just a guess.

  • High pitched squeels!!!

I recently installed a demo of BFD from the cd that comes with the Advanced Logic Pro training book and ever since then all i get out of my audio interface is random high pitched squeels. I use a G5 running OSX10.4.6. Logic Pro 7.1 and a MOTU 828mk11 interface. I've reinstalled the drivers for the MOTU with the latest ones, reintalled Logic but still no joy. However i can play dvd's and movies through the 828 with no prob, but as soon as i use logic it screws up.(If i use the built in G5 audio driver i get sound.) Any ideas?

Did that, infact i went the whole hog and did a complete re-install of OSX (yes i know this was a bit drastic). So i now have a clean install of osx 10.4.2 plus the latest drivers for the MOTU 828mk11 and a clean install of logic pro 7.nothing else is on my system. Loaded up a tune and the same problem has occured. However the tune plays o.k. if i change the core audio driver to "Built in audio" though. This is driving me nuts, I'm fairly competant on both PC and Mac. Ive just managed to force an error from the mac and that sound just came thru my monitors via the 828!!!

  • Certain iTunes "matched" albums produce high pitched whine after downloading the "matched" version?

I have been begun using iTunes Match and I have encoutered a problem.  After importing two of my "Stargate SG1" soundtrack CDs (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/stargate-sg-1-soundtrack-from/id28057422 and also http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/best-stargate-sg-1-soundtrack/id285158287), a very noticeable high pitched whine is heard during playback.  This is not a problem with my macbook pro as the downloaded file on my iPhone makes the same noise.  What is up with these tracks? Is there something I can do to fix it? These copies that produce the high pitched whine were the files directly downloaded after the match (so I could enjoy the higher bit rate). What's going on?

I called Apple today to get my 24.99 back! This has been the worst exprience I have ever had. At first I was excited that almost all my songs were matched. I figured I would be able to upgrade the 128 to 256. YEAH OK!!!
What it did was give me all radio versions of my hip hop music not to mention stuff like korn. I couldn't handle it anymore. I decided that I would feel a whole lot better ripping them all over again at 256 myself

  • High Pitched Whining Sound from Macbook

We bought the new 13" Aluminum Macbook today. In getting it set up there have been some periodic times where it started making a very high pitched whining sound that I could hear but my wife could not.
The ability to hear these high end sounds go away as you get older.
Just wondering if this will need to be repaired / returned ? What do we do. I can't stand it!!

Phil is right of course. You should send/take it back and get a new one.
Is the whine coming from the hard drive?
With the easy to replace hard drive in the new MacBook you can easily swap out the hard drive in your current unit with the new unit. That saves you reinstalling programs and transferring data. However with a whine I would be leery about keeping the same hard drive.

  • Can loud tones, high pitched sounds, loud music and loud loudspeaker calls destroy iphone 5 speaker ?

Can loud tones, high pitched sounds, loud music and loud loudspeaker calls destroy iphone 5 speaker ?
    TQ

    sounds are air being moved
if exposed to a high enough sound being moved presured impuls then
    any device could take damage
but your speaker which are maded to move sound and be moved by sound
would last longer then mostly anything else if your phone in terms of being damaged by sound
    so the answer is yes
but not likely before anything else in your phone being destroied by the same loud music plus

  • High Pitched intermittent tone from 2008 Imac

    Hi all,
Am looking for some help. I have a 2008 imac which is making a very annoying high pitched tone intermittently. when the tone 8 sounds, 8 times out of 10 the program I am running or working in hangs. Has anybody else had this issue - I saw in a search that some others have mentioned this or something similar but no resolutions had been found.
    Appreciate any help.

Try just running one application like iMovie and see if tone comes back. Does this sound like a fan by chance?
Turn Time Machine off and see if the tones come back. System Preferences/Time Machine.
Also, open the Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) select the CPU tab. If the tone comes back, keep an eye on the CPU. Might be a specific process you can quit.
Is this iMac still under the one year limited warranty by chance?

  • High pitch hissing sound from 970A-G46 motherboard with AMD FX 8 core processor

I am getting high pitch hissing sound from 970A-G46 motherboard with AMD FX 8 core processor.
Sound is coming from some place near CPU area.
I tried changing Core C 6 State in BIOS from Enabled to Disabled to fix this issue.
    I also followed steps in following link, w w w . tomshardware.com/forum/292915-30-high-pitched-noise-coming-area
    No luck with above changes.
I heard this is a common problem with MSI motherboards. Is there any fix for this issue.

Quote from: flobelix on 12-January-13, 18:49:48
That is surely no typical problem of MSI mainboards. In fact that is very rare if it is the board.
Tke the board out of case on a non conductive surface with nothing else connected but but mainboard, ram, psu, cpu and vga. Try it again after clearing CMOS (>>Clear CMOS Guide<<)
If you are then 100% sure that it is the board this could be a defect as MSI mainbaords normally don't cause coil whine and I haven't heard that about 970A-G46 so far
I tried clearing CMOS by replacing jumper and loading factory defaults. Still high pitch sound is coming intermittently. As my 30 day period is over with Frys Electronics, How easy to get a replacement board from MSI. Does anyone know the steps?

  • Errors in the high-level relational engine. The data source view does not contain a definition for the table or view. The Source property may not have been set.

    Hi All,
I have a cube in which i'm using the TIME DIM that i created in the warehouse. But now i wanted a new measure in the cube which is Average over time and when i wanted to created the new measure i got a message that no time dim was defined, so i created a
new time dimension in the SSAS using wizard. But when i tried to process the new time dimension i'm getting the follwoing error message
"Errors in the high-level relational engine. The data source view does not contain a definition for "SSASTIMEDIM" the table or view. The Source property may not have been set."
Can anyone please tell me why i cannot create a new measure average over the time using my time dimension? Also what am i doing wrong with the SSASTIMEDIM, that i'm getting the error.
    Thanks

    Hi PMunshi,
According to your description, you get the above error when processing the time dimension. Right?
In this scenario, since you have updated the DSV, it should have no problem on the table existence. One possibility is that table has been specified for tracking in the notifications for proactive caching, but isn't available any more for some
reason. Please change the setting in Proactive Caching into "MOLAP".

  • Hello.  I recently pieced together a late 2008 MacBook Pro 15".  Everything works fine except the battery constantly goes between "not charging" and "calculating" or, rarely "charging". It does charge after a long while and will report that it is charged.

I have reset the NVRAM and the SMC a couple of time but that didn't work so I ran an Apple Hardware Test and while testing the logic board it gives the following error:
    4SNS/1/40000000 LB1T
I've done some research and found this is a temperature sensor related to the battery, but cannot find where the sensor is located in the computer.  Would you know how I can find the sensor to test it?  Could my battery problem be related to something else?  Would a fresh install of Lion help?
    Thank you!
    Mike
Two pieces of information that may or may not b helpful, the hard drive is from my early 2008 MBP and the only test disc I have access to is from an iMac.

Why do you have LION installed on that older machine?
So you say you built a macbook from a bucket of parts eh?   Kudos
heres a pic of the battery temp sensor

Sounds like the disk in your MBP is accessing data on wake up
If you are still concerned you can take it into the Apple Store where they can hear it to be sure

Yes. You need 2011 or later in order to mirror as it requires the newer processor. The alternative is airparrot, which does it via software.

Hi John. Thanks for that input. At Step 6, after clicking "Next" I get a window telling me my OS version is unsupported and the installation may not complete. I am prompted to go to Canon's web site to "Check Latest Info".
I've had this window on previous attempts and from Canon's web site I downloaded two drivers as follows
    - ICA Driver V4.0.0
    - Canon IJ Network Tool V4.5.0
I'm not sure if these are the correct / complete drivers I need for this install or not.
I continue to follow all the steps. At step 9 I click "Wireless Set Up using USB" amd get a License Agreement (a little different than instructions)
I click "Agree" and it goes to a Setup window with two progress bars showing the installation. I've not been prompted to connect the USB?
After the Setup window is done, I am then prompted to connect the printer via USB. I connect the printer and click on "Redetect". It is not detected.
I then try following the Canon on screen instructions for connecting to the wireless LAN amd enter the password. It searches and indicates "Connecting" on the window, but it never connects and the blue light just blinks
So, at this point I am stuck??
    Thanks
    Stephen
