X-Fi Elite Pro: onboard SPDIF In

<SPAN>Hello together,
<SPAN><SPAN>till yesterday I used an audigy player card in my PC. I use stereo speaker as output in combination with a headset including a micro. On the onboard SPDIF input connector on the audigy board are a SAT-Card from TechnoTrend connected. I use the SPDIF connection for the sound from the SAT-Card because the quality is much better then as an analog connection between SAT- and Sound-Card. This works pretty fine.
<SPAN><SPAN>Now I have installed my new X-Fi Elite Pro. I connect my speaker and headset/micro like before. This works fine. But I found no possibility to connect my SAT-Card directly via SPDIF to the X-Fi Elite Pro. There is only a connector for an analog input on the board from the X-Fi Elite Pro. How need this?
<SPAN><SPAN>If there a possibility to connect the cards directly like before with the audigy? Or I have to go with an cable from the internal SAT-Card outside to the PC an then to the I/O Console to bring the SPDIF signal return in the PC to the X-Fi Elite Pro? I don?t know if this possible but the idea looks a little bit ?stupid? or complicate.
<SPAN><SPAN>I hope there is somewhere on the board from the X-Fi Elite Pro the possibility to connect the SPDIF signal.
<SPAN>Regards, Henry
<SPAN><SPAN>(sorry for my bad English)

<SPAN>Hi bigfoot_3,
<SPAN>
<SPAN>I hope this is not true, I can't believe it.

<SPAN>The "top of the line" Sound Blaster X-Fi solution, the Elite Pro includes all of the standard features, application software, power and performance capabilities of the entire family of Sound Blaster X-Fi cards (described below), in one ultimate solution.
<SPAN>
<SPAN>For a solution for the problem I?m searching in the internet. I found some information about the connectors on the X-Fi Board.
<SPAN>
<SPAN>There is on connecter on the board that looks like for a front panel for micro a headsets. But nothing likes SPDIF Input.

  • Joe Meek Twin Q Pre-Amp and Elite Pro SPDIF/Digital input probs

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone can help. I've just purchased a Joe Meek Twin Q Pre-Amp and I specifically bought it for a new Rode mic I've just got and it needed phantom power. I also paid a little extra for the digital 'outs', thinking I could take an optic or SPDIF out into the Elite Pro breakout box. The problem is, is that digital is not recognised at all - in Audio Codes it states it's an invalid signal. However, SPDIF is recognised saying it's a stereo signal at 48,000hz, but is only being 'heard' in my right channel.
I have tried the line out into Line In 3, and there's no problem there. Joe Meek representative said it should be working as long as the bit match is the same in both units, which as far as I know is. Am I missing something here? I'm awaiting Creative to get back as it seems to me to be a breakout-box hardware problem, but I could be missing something?
Does anyone have any experience and/or advice/info?
    Thanks in advance

Well, since you're not getting response, let me see what I can do.
I think you're saying the optical connection isn't working, but the coax (SPDIF) one is working, and then you're only getting the mic signal on one channel. The second part is easy to explain, but I never remember the solution suggestions. TOSLink/SPDIF, essentially, are stereo signals, and your preamp is simply putting its channel 1 signal on one side and its channel 2 signal on the other. If you had a second mic connected to the other connector, you'd have one mic on the left channel and the other on the right channel. Basically, you need to treat it as a mono signal and then either pan it into the stereo field, or just duplicate (convert) it to stereo. I'm sure there are ways, but someone else needs to join in with some experience. I'm not sure, but it seems to me if, say, you've put the mic in the channel 1 connector, you could take the channel 1 (analog) output and patch it into the channel 2 line input, and your digital outputs would probably get you the mic signal on both sides.
On both devices, the TOSLink/SPDIF signals are, to the best of my understanding, basically the same thing in two forms. If one is working, than the other should be working too. That suggests to me either hardware brokenness in the preamp's optical out, or the Elite Pro's optical in. or a problem with the optical cable. CL's optical outs can be checked to see if they are putting out red light: if they aren't, there's a problem. That probably applies to the preamp, in this case. You can simply connect the Elite Pro's optical output to its optical input and record something from the digital input device. If that works, the cable and the digital input are probably OK, and it most likely the preamp's digital output is broken (although it could be a strange compatibility issue). If it fails, then it's most likely either a bad cable, or the Elite Pro's optical input is broken. Trying another cable, or some other piece of gear you have that outputs optical, ought to sort out which it is.

  • Elite Pro and vista, creative console resets after ever reb

So, I've given up trying to search for the answer and I have no clue how to go about fixing this problem.
If I boot into visata 32 Ultimate, and go and setup my audio console the way I like it then reboot, it will reset itself to defaults when I boot back into windows.
basically its not saving my configuration. Why does this happen and how can I fix this? It doesn't sound the same as the Digital output resetting itself. I have the latest drivers installed on a clean slate...why does this still happen?
    its friggen annoying!

yep , i see they are supported, the same is mentioned on the drivers download page,
it states that DTS has been re enabled on devices that supported it on XP when they were originally released.
so i have the elite pro, wich supported dd and dts, and still i get no sound form any dvd in dts or even sound from my PS3 input via optical to the external I/0 of the elite pro.
and i have been told that i would need to buy the dts pack.
why ? when i already paid ?250 for the card that supported it from the moment i bought it ?
dts input support was one of the reasons i bought this card in the first place.
i might as well sell this and use my onboard optical output and buy an amplifier that supports dts, at least then ill know that there are no drivers/support problems
?creative you might make the best sound cards out there but that alone only gets you half way there. us customers we need support and value for our money?
not u trying to rip us off

  • Audio setup / MEDIACENTER theatertek - x-fi elite pro - denon AVC-A1XV receiver - speak

I read all the various posts and faq... however I do not get it.
I would like to see movies with theatertek on my mediacenter (sp/dif out) which has an x-fi elite pro card. I use optical cable to the Denon AVC-AXV receiver. Now I only get the front speakers no surround.
Probably I just have to bypass the sound card... but how? I would like not to use analog connections..
Sorry for the questions... but the explanations just do not help.

Open Audio Console, go to the decoder tab and select 'DD/DTS Bitstream Out'. On the DVD software you have to select SPDIF-Out as the audio renderer. If you have installed and enabled?the On-Screen Display it will appear a DD/DTS logo with the legend 'Bitstream' instead of the regular logo.

  • Use X-Fi I/O console with X-Fi non-Elite Pro c

Can I directly use X-Fi I/O console (from Elite Pro card, not the upgrade option from creative) with X-Fi Extreme Music? Beside plugging in the hardware together, what else should I do, e.g. reinstall driver from Extreme Music, or install driver from Elite Pro, or something else? I have neither hardware yet, so would like to ask you guys first. Thank you.

If you need a digital I/O, or Digital access, there is a add-on module in the
"Acessories" Category of the Creative Shop Link above on THEIR TOOLBAR that allows you plug into the Digital In...which provides both SPDIF (Coaxial) and Optical I/O Connectivity for yours and up to the newest X-Fi Sound Cards. Unfortunately, all my excitement as I did order one of these ($4.99, actually cheap for a change) have been deflated. As to being able to finially link up all my digital ouputs to run through my Shuttle system to hear my DVD's Digital Output and Cable TV DTS or Dolby 5., EX, etc. have been dismal at best. For it will not connect in DTS or Dolby, only in a simulated CMMS 3D downmix seems possible. How can this company get away with touting...Dolby DTS, Dolby EX, etc all over their boxes and it does not even handle such capabilities...and if it does...PLEASE PASS IT ON CREATIVE... I have been dealing with your nonesene for years and decided to give it another chance. BUT...as usual, the SOS....different label..that's all.
PLEASE, if you get this, it just offers a hole to plug it in....doesn't mean your gettting the whole DTS or Dolby EX experience....just a simulated CMSS 3D Garbage, (BTW..if you get nothing with this adapter, enable CMSS...then you will at least get a sound out of this)....with a rediculously FAINT middle channel, for what...OH ONLY THE VOICES of the soundtrack that's all....a joke..
Please respond if you know better.....
    Thanks....

  • X-FI Elite Pro Din connector and compatible speakers

Hi all?I?m a?owner of an X-FI Elite Pro. Amazing 55 million transistor sound? From what I can read here in the forums, I can control selected Creative speakers with the?9 pin Din cable. I?m aware of the 3 spdif signals incompatibility with this connector.
Now I?m confused some say it works others say it doesn?t work..... Which speakers are supported ? Models ? Most of them have the wired remote or control pod. Nor in the speaker manuals nor in the Elite pro manual are the compatible models listed?I want power ... so I?m interested in the Gigaworks series like the S750. Anyone tested the combination ??

Well since nobody answered today I have hooked up the Logitch Z500 Digital and the sound is just amazing. I was moving to 7. but there isn?t much offer from Creative.... and 5. is still the standard. It?s a shame that on such a quality card there are only crappy Creative 20 watt speakers for sale.

  • Wrong channel distribution...Win7 64 and elite pro

2Wrong channel distribution...Win7 64 and elite proXHi folks!
I've updated my OS from a vista 32 to a 7 64bits and since then I've some problems with my Xfi Elite pro soundcard...
While listening some MP3s, the channel got mixed up and, generally I have a weird and loud noise before that occurs...
I've first thought it was a problem with foobar and its DSP but no... I still got the problem with other applications...
And when I test the channel with the audio console after getting the bug and after closing the audio software every channels seems to be correctly distributed...
I've a Z5500 kit hooked on the soundcard and I've also tried to play mp3 over the SPDIF output of the card and it seems to work fine... The problem seems to happen only when I play songs over the analog signal...
    What do you think?

    Hi there !
Sorry to bring back this old post from the dead, but I continue to have problems with my x-fi elite pro...As a matter of fact, I always had trouble with it !
Well to list all the problems I've have encountered :
The I/O console which seems to be dead then Suddely wake up in the world of the living.<
Sudden hissing sound coming from all of the Loudspeaker...<
Sudden loss of channels after changing the mode. The problem only settle after several reboots<
Wrong channels distribution with the analog config.<
Freeze my PC @ start up or BOSD ( on a vista x86).<
windows suddenly doesn't recognize it. And like the console, the card suddenly wakes up after several reboots.<
I've bought this card in 2006 I believe, and it has been the black sheep in my rig ever since...but it's also irremplacable because of its I/O console ! ( and to be honnest, for its sound quality when I've no problem with the card ).
As far as I can remember, I didn't had any problem as long I was on a good'ol xp. But I've moved on a 7 now...
Well, just to be sure, there's no way to use the console on the lastest fatalty? If not, do you know of a more recent card with both Spdif coax in/out and RCAs on it's
I thought of buying a Home cinema, but I would keep a good sound quality without laying to much bucks for it. And, moreover everything is in a small room...and my Z5500 is the perfect match for the setup of this room.

  • X-Fi Elite pro (recording questi

    Hi,
I am looking at getting the X-Fi Elite pro, mainly for music/recording purposes. One of the important features I am looking for in a pc sound system is the ability to record VOICE and MUSIC at the same time (as in the Karaoke environment).
Currently my Asus P4P 800-E Dlx board has the onboard AC97, but for some reason I am not able to record voice and music in "stereo mix" mode, and of course doing Karaoke on an onboard sound system is not the best thing.
My question is: will I be able to record both voice and music (in stereo mix mode, or however way it might be) with this X-Fi Elite pro?
With the price I am going to pay for, I really want to make sure I get what I am looking for.
I hope all of the pros here can give me some light. Thank you!

    Hi jutapa,
Thank you for your reply to my question. sorry it took me awhile to get back to the forum. I finally bought the system (just a few days ago).
To answer your question: yes, I meant recording with the background music from my pc + the mic, both at the same time as I used to be able to with 'stereo mix' mode. I can hook up external devices for recording. but what I want for a quick recording is just that. what puzzled me was that I used to be able to record that before I reinstalled my windows xp pro. however, talking of what is now, with this new xfi elite system, I am still unable to record the background music + mic from my pc. it's a little frustrating when I couldn't find the cause for why I lost that function, and now after having bought the new sound system, I still cannot do what I want to do.
Has anyone here able to do recording with both background music + mic internally from pc with this xfi elite system? If so, please shed some lights. it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

  • X-Fi Elite Pro, Megaworks 510 and Vi

I have just clean installed Vista Ultimate 32 bit on my new computer with an X-Fi Elite pro. I am trying to connect to my Megaworks 50 system via the orange digital cable from the flexi jack on the card. THis is the cable that looks like a headphone jack on each end. Anyway...no sound. I have the playback device set to SPDIF Out. If I change the playback device to Speakers and plug in my headphones I do get sound. The digital cable worked with my previous Soundblaster card and these speakers. Any ideas??Thanks,John

    Hi guy`s
Just had the same problem , and got i resolved by going into my startup tab`s on Windows XP.
Foregive me for explaning in English here , i`m sitting on a totally different language ,,,but i`ll give it a try.
Go to ..:START /RUN/...then type in..."msconfig" ..without quotes...hit ENTER ...go to the START TAB and check that
DDLML.exe*RCSystem* is checked on you startup tabs.
This task is the actual module loader for the remote to function , and if you dont know how to start it manually
right away , just reboot your PC and you should be good to go.
    That`s all folks
Hope you get it working .

  • X-fi elite pro phono connect

I am a new user and I have an Elite Pro and the problem I am having is when I have a Phono hooked up to my standalone mod and I am listening to it the sound is very week and coming out of one speaker mostly it was sounding good and I tried to hook up a television to the inputs and I found that it was the TV audio inputs I was trying to connect to the AUX inputs on the Mod, hence no sound. LOL guess I should have checked it out better and so now I hook my phono rca jacks back up and preamp off of coarse and then the terrible sound I have checked all. Onboard sound is off in BIOS and AUX/phono 2 is unchecked in windows but cant quite understand the prob could anyone shed some light? Asus A8n32-sli board I gig ram, AMD 64 X2 3800+ Windows xp home. Worled great at first? but now pulling my hair out?

    mine works....

  • What will happen to onboard SPDIF...?

I use the onboard spdif that is available on my K7N420D Pro and I intend to upgrade to nForce2 when the time comes.  My question is, now that nVidia is marketing Soundstorm will onboard spdif still be an option?  In the APU techbrief, nVidia says that you need the soundstorm to use hardware dd encoding and also even to have a spdif interface.
This bothers me, I like the way that MSI's nForce solution offers spdif as a mere attachment instead of an entire CNR card.
Does anyone know what MSI's plans are?
    Thanks

    Hello,
Thanks for replies.  You are both touching on the issue that concerns me.  I do NOT want that addin card.  I will be let down if MSI get rid of that onboard spdif connector.  The picture with everything integrated looks good.  Please no addin ACR or CNR card.
In case you wondering why I feal this way, it's because I use 1 and 2 unit rackmountable cases.  I really only have room for one pci device and that's it.  When a motherboard is an integrated solution, addin cards shouldn't count as integrated.  What I do now is take the pci bracket off of the spdif connector and attach it directly to the case.  Sometimes I attach an internal digital cd cable to the spdif connector on the motherboard.
Richard, your first reply felt like good news, so I'll just leave it alone for now.
    Thanks

#cable box to elite pro external box@i want to connect my cable box to the soundcard and then use the soundcard to output audio to two different am
    ps.
is the SPDIF-in on the external box the same thing as coax?
i think it is a simple question.. i just dont know if the labeling is the same and i dont want to connect anything and break something because of my own lack of understanding.
i need to connect the cable box to the soundcard for two reasons:
    1. i have seperate amplifiers for the front and rear speakers
    2. i want to use the equalizer to calibrate my frequency response
right now i have the cable box connected directly to the receiver and i am using the receiver to decode the dolby signal... but i am without surround speakers and i am without my calibrated frequency response.

'okay.. i did some further reading and conclude that these are the same thing.
    (wikipedia: spdif)
but the problem now is that there is no audio
    **edit**
went into entertainment mode and selected the SPDIF to be decoded.. now i have audio.
i forgot that it needed to be enabled in entertainment mode.

  • Elite Pro Remote Control and

    Hi there!
First of all: I already searched the forums, but was not able to find what i was looking for.
As I got back to my XP after using Vista I recognized that there is no "Creative Enterteinment Center" for XP, which was necessary for the usage of the remote control under Vista.
    So... what now?

Honestly I can not believe that there is no way to solve this problem.
I am sure that there is somebody out there that uses the Elite Pro with XP who's RC works fine.
I already tried to install that MediaSource-Program, but I have not found any options to activate the RC.
In the meantime I found out, that there has to be a RCMAN.EXE running, which is responsible for the RC.
But now after I have installed everything I could, I ask myself where the heck that task is. Which program runs that task?
