X-Fi ExtremeMusic

This board has alot of info available but I haven't been able to get a cohesi've picture of what I need to do to get my SB0460 to fully function (0-band EQ, etc.) under the Windows 7(x64) environment. Is there a diffiative list of what drivers/apps I should get and apply and in what order? That list could include standard CL downloads and Daniel_K Support packs. Would a solution be possible by running the apps under a different compatibility mode (Vista, Vista SP, etc.). Finally/lastly, if non of the above is possible could anyone recommend a sound card from CL or another company that is well supported under Window 7(x64).

THX Console fully working now. Rename the two files in THX console folder then it should work only way around it. X-Fi ExtremeMusic driver found on every other reboot of the sys

Hi everyone,
I just got my ExtremeMusic card along with a whole new computer by using E6600 + DS3 + 2GB RAM.
But I had a problem: system can only recognize the driver on every other reboot.
For example: on the odd # of the reboot, the system can detect it with no problem; but in the even # of reboot, system will only recognize it as a Multimedia Audio Controller, and can't find any drivers for it.
Does anyone has any idea?

Alright. This card was working with my old motherboard just fine but now I am having some problems.
Here are my specs.
Windows XP PRO
DFI Lanparty UT Sli-DR Expert nforce4
4400+ X2
2xgb g.skill performance
2x 320gb seagate raid0
700watt ocz psu
8800 gts

Alright here is the problem. When I put the card in my computer the system tells me that it found a new hardware blah blah blah. Everything is fine to that point. Then I try to install the drivers from the CD. And BANG my computer freezes and I have to restart. Back in windows and it tells me that it can't find the device drivers aren't installed blah blah blah. Alright so I went to the creative website and downloaded the latest software hoping that this would fix the problem. And same thing happens, comp freezes and I have to restart. So there is no way for me to install the drivers. Is this a known issue? What can I do to fix that? Send the card in for a new one with a new firmware? Onboard sound works just fine.
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

your saying the "FOUND NEW HARDWARE" wizard never comes up then it sounds to me that you need to finish uninstalling your old soundcard!?. Check add or remove programs for old and new soundcard!2.Get drivercleaner pro and remove all creative audio and creative audio lite!3.delete the creative folder......windows explorer/local disc C:/program files/and creative should be right there!4.reboot your system5.found new hardware should come up?like i said hope this helps!

X-FI ExtremeMusic and old Live Drive

Hi, I have purchased an X-FI ExtremeMusic card. I have an old front bay Li've Dri've II?connection box from my old SoundBlaster Li've! PlatinumI know the pin-outs are different. X-Fi ExtremeMusic hicc

Hi. I got my X-Fi ExtremeMusic over half a year ago, and overall I'm rather happy with it. My mobo is an Asus A8V Deluxe.
My issue is with a game called Mount & Blade. During play, there would be very brief slowdowns or freezes of the graphics, accompanied by a looping of the sound for that timespan. Now I know it's a sound issue, but I'm not clear if it is the drivers that still have edges or if it's the game doing it (I don't believe that it would be the card). I checked in Battlefield 2 and didn't notice the issue in that game. I'd bet that if I checked the PCI latency, it would spike whenever the sound loops like that. So what could that be, and how do I get rid of it's I already tried juggling acceleration settings, PCI latency timers, in-game settings.. an older driver set. Even graphics drivers.

I had this problem too. Fiddling with the Speaker settings in the Creative Speaker settings and THX applet fixed it.
What driver version are you on? I've not encountered this problem in a long while. I had it the first time I installed it almost a year ago.
If you're not on the latest driver, you could try upgrading. The latest driver was released early in July.

X-FI ExtremeMusic Center-Speaker Prob

Hi, I've got Problem with my Creative X-FI ExtremeMusic Soundcard.
I have a 5. Sound-System but it won't recognize my Center-Speaker for some reason.
The Configures are set to 5. in the Creative Sound Options as well as in the Windows Audio Options. Reinstalling the Drivers a few times hasn't worked either.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I had the same problem before downloading a newer version of the creative control launcher. I was told to download the newer version in the creative sound blaster downloads menu. Choose your sound card then choose download application. In the applications menu choose creative control launcher and it will un-install the older version and re-install the newer one. This was my fix but it seems somethings work for some and not for others so keep posting.

X-Fi Extrememusic center,front speaker prob

So I just got my X-Fi Extrememusic and installed the newest driver for it from creative's website. I didn't use the CD that came with it becouse it basicly just froze when i started it up(I'm using Vista 32bit) My computer found the sound card and everything went well, so far.
So i had the usuall RC97 soundcard before were all the speakers worked(5. system)
And yes, i uninstalled the drivers for the RC97 card before i installed the vista driver for the X-fi card.
But now that I've installed my new audio card the only speakers that seems to work is the rear when I play music. Even tho, when i test it at the speaker setup in vista the rear and the front speaker are making sound. The center and the sub tho, is not making any sound when i test them. Rare thing is tho, that the sub is working when i play music. The front is not tho.
Here comes the very odd part, when i change it to game mode, all the speakers are making sound on the sound setup in vista, not in the media players tho. But when i switch it to entertainment mode the sub and center is not making any sound on the sound setup.
Problem is tho, simply put, only speakers currently working are the rear and the bass.
How do i fix this? I've checked the set-up and cables, everything is right.

X-Fi ExtremeMusic - no rear speaker volume cont

Hey everyone
ever since i built my new comp and put in the X-fi extrememusic card, i haven't been able to work surround sound right. I've used an Altec Lansing 5. system and now tried a Klipsch promedia v2.400 4. system.
The speakers all work, but am i not supposed to be able to control the volume of the rear speakers through my volume controls on the computer? I know when i used to use the 5. on my audigy 2 when i move the volume up or down all of the speakers go up or down proportionally which is whats supposed to happen, but when i move the volume up and down on the x-fi only the front speakers volume changes.
If i move the volume all the way to the end to no sound, the front speakers won't emit any sound but the rear speakers will still have the same volume regardless of what i do.
Is there a way to fix this? or is this a hardware defect?

Okay, I got it to work. Here were the steps:?. Uninstalled Creative software and x-fi drivers2. Ran Driver Sweeper from Guru3D (free and maybe optional)3. Restarted, then installed latest driver from Creative website (SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_09_0007.exe)4. Restarted again, then installed x-fi software from cd, except the audio driver5. Restart, then it worked?Hope this helps

DTS 6.1 discrete by x-fi extrememusic soundc

hi everyone i have recently take x-fi extrememusic sound card , i would like to know whether my sound card is able to play DTS 6. discrete mode or it uses the DTS 6. Matrix method for playing the DVD which are given the certification of DTS 6. Discrete . can any one tell me whether my sound card fully supports both formats or only one if so which one.
i am using creative T7900 7. speakers .

When you play a movie the thing i like about the xfi soundcard is a small feature that creative introuced it tells me the audio stream its playing (an icon at the bottom near the clock) and it only displays for a few seconds.
Most moi'ves i brough advertise Dolby digital EX or DTS ES. When i play them i find mostly the creative decoder tells me otherwise. The creative decoder identifies the stream and displays it at the bottom and i find that most movies that advertise the DTS ES or DD EX are not Dolby digital EX or DTS ES but just dolby digital 5. or DTS 5.. The only movies i have so far that are dolby digital EX are starwars episode 5 and 6 (despite ,2,3 and 4 claim to be but not), the punisher, and the only DTS 6. so far is top gun (my movie collection is small as well). but unless the creative decoder is identiftying the audio streams wrong which i doubt i so far. only some of my movies state the correct audio stream on the dvd.
Have a look at the icon that appears when playing the movie and see if it says either dolby digital, dolby digital ex, dts surround or dts surround es, if its displays either Dolby Digital EX or DTS Surround ES then they are 6. streams if they are not then they are 5. which might be why your not hearing anything out the back speaker.Message Edited by Stargazer on 0-06-2006 :5 AM

I'm from Romania and i want to purchase a Creative X-Fi ExtremeMusic sound card but i have difficulties finding it in local stores. They all say to me that importers have difficulties finding it too. Now i've seen that Americas Creative on-line shop doesn't have it on stock either.
My questions are:
.Doesn't Creative manufacture anymore this sound card? And if so why? It is a good sound card.
2. Is ExtremeGamer is a good substitute or i loose some useful features?

I have a MB with onboard SPDIF for HDMI. When I install my extrememusic card it takes over and doesn't allow HDMI audio output anymore. But I want the extrememusic card for digital audio input (video capture) And the onboard audio for the SPDIFoutput (HDMI). Is there a way to use both the card and the onboard audio for these purposes?

It's quite hard to advice without having the equal system in hands.
Which one you have set to be as the preferred playback device and preferred recording device in system audio settings? Maybe onboard for playback and X-Fi for recording is maybe the way to go but, I can't say if this changes anything there?
X-Fi also has Audio Creation Mode which is maybe the best for this type input connection ... use bit-matched mode if possible and ASIO.
Depends on what you want to do there but, there are also some software you could use for to route signal from one card into other if this would be a sort of resolution (Virtual Audio Cable/Repeteater and Velbac comes into mind ... you should find links for these by searching this forum).

I have CambridgeSoundWork FPS2000 surround sound speaker. Two of the hookup option is . connect directly to Digital I/O of the sound card,?and 2. use the supplied SPDIF bracket and connect a cable directly to SPDIF_EXT on the sound card. I have x-fi extrememusic sound card, my question is:. Does this sound card has digital i/o output? Is this the green labled line out jack?2. Does this card internally has SPDIF_EXT connector (male)? The cable I see it look like 2 pin (female type). Thanks

Fatality or extrememusi

hi i just bought a x-fi soundcard. it is supposedly an x-fi fatalty soundcard but i'm worried that what i bought is actually x-fi platinum or extrememusic. The casing is not sealed. Is there any ways that i can confirm that this is indeed a fatalty soundcard?
note : i didn't see the x-ram but i saw a heatsink.. thanks

Going by your description on the LED box, it should be a X-Fi Fatalty card but of cos to be 00% sure, it's best to compare it against the model number which is SB0466.

Hello,
Sound and Console work perfectly until the drivers update(software autoupdate from creative official webpage). Since then, sound works, but console show me this message:
-In spanish: No hay ning?n dispositivo de audio admitido disponible.Haga clic en aceptar para cerrar la aplicaci?n ahora.
-In english: The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit.
My problem is that I can't change any configuration : sound mode, EQ, CMSS 3D,Crystalizer,...

X-Fi ExtremeMusic Software doesn't look ri

I just installed the card last night and I figured I would just get the latest drivers from the web, rather than use the CD. The card works but the software does not look at all like what's advertised everywhere. I just have a boring panel with tabs that I can go to to turn on and adjust parameters. But I have no EQ which is rather strange.

Make sure you're using the supplied applications, instead of the standard Windows ones. The mixer/EQ will differ aswell depending on which mode you are. You can switch between the modes (Entertainment Mode, Audio Creation Mode and Game Mode).
Missed the part where you mentioned you went right for the updated drivers. I'd recommend installing the CD first and then the update. The update doesn't include all of the applications that are on the CD, it's a small download compared to a full CD install.

X-Fi ExtremeMusic stops working upon rebo

I've had the above soundcard for about a year with no problems. Now...everytime I reboot my system there are 'No Audio Devices'. Sound won't work and I am required to reinstall the drivers in order to restore audio. Before rebooting, after driver installation, I have sound. But upon reboot, the audio is disabled once again. Any thoughts? I recently swapped out an old power supply unit, but I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with software and drivers for a soundcard.

You can try this. Follow the steps in this Knowledgebase article SID72 to uninstall the driver and software. When you have finish uninstallation process, shutdown the computer instead of rebooting. Remove the sound card from the computer PCI slot and boot up the computer. Let Windows finish loading and register that there's no sound card and then have it shutdown. Slot back the sound card to the same PCI slot and bootup the computer follow by the standard installation from the soundcard CD.
