X-Fi Fatal1ity Speaker Channel Iss

Hello, I recently purchaced a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatality Professional card from newegg, and I've been having a bit of trouble. All the sound, including the sound for the right speakers is coming through my left, center, and back left speakers. The right speakers however, remain completly mute. Putting the card into entertainment mode just swapped the problem to the left speakers (Now the left speakers don't work, but the right do). I have the Logitech Z640 speaker system, which uses the standard 5. analog connectors. These speakers worked fine with my old integrated sound. My drivers are at the latest, as of today. I know that all of the speakers work fine, and that the connectors are all in the right place. Any help is appreciated.

Bump. Please reply!

I have my apple TV plugged into my Denon receiver.  My receiver is setup with 3 speaker channels, one center, one left front and one right front.  When I listen to music via Airplay, sound comes only from the center channel and right, nothing on the left.  When I watch Cable Television (not using the Apple TV), all 3 channels work fine so I know that the speaker connections are fine.

I had problems with streaming until I changed the WiFi channel that I was using.  The original one conflicted with my neighbor.  After that, MOST of my streaming problems vanished.  Occasionally, a movie would pause for more buffering and I eventually ran an ethernet cable from the Apple TV to my Apple Extreme (to eliminate the Wifi).  I have not had a single problem since then (except to repair the drywall after running the ethernet from one floor to another).  :-)

  • ALSA automatically mutes headphone/speaker channel, does not unmute

When I plug in a headphone into the headphone port on my laptop, ALSA immediately sets the volume of the speaker channel to 0 and mutes it. When I unplug the headphone, it also zeroes and mutes the headphone channel, and unmutes the speaker channel, but doesn't set the volume back above zero. (The same problem occurs in reverse). I've tried disabling the auto-mute feaure, but it will still zero and mute channels when I change from using a headphone or vice versa. I tried deleting the alsa saved state, but the problem persisted. (I also tried creating a new one with both channels maxed out and unmuted). Any suggestions to get it to set the volume properly on switching outputs?

On examination, when I kill Pulseaudio the behavior stops, and resumes as soon as I restart pulse. So I'm looking to fix pulse, I guess...
EDIT: Fixed the behavior by commenting out in /etc/pulse/default.pa the line
    load-module module-switch-on-port-available
by adding a # to the front. ALSA was handling the muting on its own anyway.
Man, this is the third thing I've had to alter in default.pa to keep my audio working properly... My favorite was the one that randomly stopped VLC every time I got a Skype message until I commented out the module.

  • Rear speaker channel combined in Windows 7

    ? Hello all,
Wondering if someone has encountered this scenario with the Windows 7 upgrade.
I am dual-booting Windows XP/Windows 7 64-bit Professional. I am using a Sound Blaster Audigy (model SB0090), and have had minimal problems with 5. surround sound in XP.
Now with Windows 7, when running the speaker test for the rear speakers, I get sound out of just the rear left speaker when testing the rear left/right. I'm using a logitech Z5300 speaker set, and made sure 5. is enabled on the toggle, speaker is actually connected (and would find it strange that any sound would come through the rear-left speaker for the rear-right channel regardless of proper connection), and I can emmulate 5. on the speakers itself to get sound from the rear right..
If anyone has seen this or has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

OK, now I have no sound in the rear speakers when selecting 5. sound in Windows. (This is using the Test function.... not failing to realize that stereo sound is stereo sound). Also during the test, sound is distorted (sounds like the highs are maybe maxing out, not 00% sure).
I was using the default Windows 7 64-bit Pro drivers and had the same sound coming from the rear-left for both the rear-right. Now I'm using Daniel K's 3.5 set. I'll either try 3.6 next or the Creative drivers for SB0900 for Win 7.

  • Click in right speaker / channel

When my MacBook Pro plays an alert sound (such as the incoming mail sound), there is an initial click in the right hand speaker. Now I say the right hand speaker, but I get the same click when I plug in headphones.
Now this doesn't happen every time, only if an alert is played with at least a 20 or 30 second gap since the last alert. Listening with headphones I can hear a very faint background hiss when a sound has been played which disappears after about 20 or 30 seconds and it's after this time that there will be a click when another sound is played.
Has anyone else experienced this or know why it's happening?

Same problem here. Check this thread, I hope this helps... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1063465&tstart=15

  • IPad speaker only plays one channel

I have a 3rd gen. wifi iPad 16 gb and just updated to iOS 7. Listening to the Beatles (who often had some pretty extreme stereo mixes) over the iPad speaker, I realized pretty quickly it was missing an entire speaker channel. The Settings/General/Accessibility/Hearing setting is NOT set to mono, and moving the slider to the left causes all the sound to drop out, so the entire left speaker channel is muted. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

    Hello there Floydmulder,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
You went to the first place I would have by checking the Audio Accessibility options. Next, if you have not already, restart the iPad and try again.
    Restarting your iOS device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
After the device has turned off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
From: iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Then close all the running apps, restart it again, and test the issue.
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
And if the issue persists, I would backup and restore the phone with iTunes. First I would restore the phone as new, and test the issue. If it persists then that rules out software. If it works, then restore from your backup, and test again to see if there is something to do with the backup.

    All the very best,

  • [SOLVED] Speaker volume set to 0 when PulseAudio starts

    Hi guys,
last pacman -Syu which I've run on February 1, 2013 brought some terrible bugs to me. E.g. the CPU fan is running permanently at full speed. Another one ist that the level of the speaker channel is set to zero every time PulseAudio starts, see attached picture:
    It's related to this bugs:
    1. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59217
    2. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54673
    3. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/921397
The fix for the first bug didn't work for me (modifying /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-speaker-always.conf). As in the first bug report, I also have a Dell XPS L502X.
pacman -Syu upgraded pulseaudio from 2.1-1 to 3.0-2, see pacman.log:

A package downgrade of PulseAudio back to 2.1-1 doesn't work.
Maybe someone know how to fix it. Please inform me if you need additional information or if I should better open a bug report for this issue.
    Thank you.

Thank you all for your help, especially adee. pulseaudio-git package from AUR solves the problem. Therefore, I think it's not necessary to open another bug report at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/describeco … PulseAudio.

  • FPS2000 Digital Speaker System

I currently have an FPS 2000 Digital Speaker System, with an Audigy 2 Platinum sound card on a Win XP system.
The subwoofer itself has no input jack to connect from the Audigy 2, but there is a Digital DIN connector on the subwoofer that will connect ALL speaker channels to the sound card. Is there a cable available that will do this with an Audigy 2? If so, where can I buy one? Also, I'm currently planning on buying a new Win7 Pro system.
Will I be able to use the Audigy 2 and FPS2000 speakers in Win 7 Pro's XP mode?

Ah, I have just found the cable here :-

Unfortunately this is only in the US shop (who don't ship abroad) so I guess we Europeans will have to make do with some old string and hope for the best...

  • X-Fi sound channel failure.

X-Fi sound channel failure. I am currently using an X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI card on a 5. speaker system. Sound is not correctly generating on the all speaker channels. When I first started having this issue, the front right channel stopped generating sound through the X-Fi software. Channel tests would produce sound on all the other speakers. However, while playing music or a game, sound could faintly be heard on the front right channel. Setting the speaker options to use head phones instead of 5. speakers would work fine, but would not generate sound properly for the front right channel under any other configuration. I have double checked all the connections and the speaker unit and they are all set up and functioning correctly. Switching between Entertainment mode and Game mode did not seem to fix or alter the issue.
I? uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers with the latest driver (2.8.008). All the speaker channels started working again when I did a quick channel test. However, once I adjusted the volume control to 00%, the rear left, rear right, center and subwoofer channels all died. The headphone setting still works as expected, and switching between any other speaker settings did not otherwise change the results. Switching from Game mode to Entertainment mode did cause a new quirk though. The channel test labeled the front left speaker correctly, but sent the front center sound to the front right speaker and from there no other channels responded.
So right now I am trying to determine weather this is a software issue or a hardware issue. If its just hardware, I can solve that problem by getting a new card. If its software, obviously getting a new card (same/similar model) is not a sure fix, but fixing the software issue would save me from buying new hardware.
I am running Windows XP SP3 on an AMD Phenom 3x 8750, nForce 750a chipset and a Gforce 9600 GT. The X-Fi card is the only addon device on the PCI bus.

Re: X-Fi sound channel failure.e How? Are there instruction on how to do that?
What I've done so far is use the Creative Diagnostic to test everything to make sure it is working properly. It says it is. I checked the Device Manager, and everything seems to check out there also.
I think something might be missing. When I tried to download the lastest version of Creative Diagnostics, everything seems to be just fine, until the very end. That's when this message comes up? "Setup did not detect the required components. Setup will exit." Then when I checked to see if anything was interfering with the Creative software, a yellow question mark does show up, but not by or in the Creative part. It is 2 spots above, and says "Other Devices--Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus"
What could be missing though? I still have the Creative CD to download everything. I've tried that, but still, that yellow ? comes up and says? "Setup did not detect the required components. Setup will exit."? Shouldn't everything be in that CD!? It always worked before.

  • No sound using stereo mixer with speaker balance s...

No sound using stereo mixer with speaker balance set between approx 95-100% of max to the right
Setup: good quality functional soundcard, fine when audio not routed via Skype, mixer enabled, Skype mic / audio auto disabled, issue present when tested using a variety of different systems, latest version of Skype was used on all machines being tested
Issue: When the speaker balance is set approx 95% to 100% to the right speaker channel using the Windows audio control no sound is generated. The issue is absent when audio is not routed via Skype. This would seem to be a Skype bug and would like to report the issue as a bug. Has anyone else encoutered this issue? Is there a resolution?

Yes, I restarted my computer yesterday and this morning all my sounds is controlled by the left/right blance percentage.

  • Soundtrack Pro channel mapping with a new setup

    Hello All,
Looking for a bit of guidance regarding editing / mixing for 5.1 in SoundTrack Pro and Adobe Audition.
I had been editing with both pieces of software and had a successful 5.1 set up. I could place audio in each speaker independently via the software, and it would playback properly in the software and upon export.
Recently I've switched my setup from an old Klipsch ProMedia GMX D-5.1 (that was connected directly to the editing machine via optical), to a Denon 1610 receiver and Energy speaker surround setup (again, connected directly to the editing machine via optical).
The problem I'm encountering is that I can't get either piece of editing software to output properly and / or to the specified speaker / channel. Everything, all channels, are coming out of the Fl or Fr speakers. Playback of previously created 5.1 tracks (QT or .ac3 files), in QuickTime or VLC, are mapped properly.
What am I missing? I have a suspicion that the issue is the elimination of the Klipsch Digital preamp / control module. If this is the case, do I need a DAC that goes toslink in to toslink out and into my receiver? Id so, do you have any recommendations for a DAC?
    Thanks.
    Floyd

I haven't tried this, but one way around this might be to teach MainStage about the offending button.
Set up a new button in MS Layout & 'Learn' your patch change to it.
Having done that, disable the new button in Edit.
If you set this up at Concert level, it ought to prevent any patch change messages getting through to the rest of MainStage.

  • Defective Right Channel Audio Post Fluid Accident

My MBP 15" A1211 received light spillage. The apparent damage was limited to loss of the keyboard backlight on 3/4 of the panel and, of greater concern, effective loss of the right speaker. Audio does pass, though far too faint and distorted to be useful. The left speaker/channel functions as per normal. Last night I successfully replaced the combined speaker assembly yet the same symptoms remain with no change. My knowledge of the guts of my machine is slight though growing.
Where should I go next up the signal chain to trouble shoot? Is there a dedicated audio amp onboard between the logic board & the speakers? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Sidenote: outside of my stated problem, all other hardware/processes have functioned normally without issue since the accident.

Welp guys, it wasn't alsa at all actually. More of a PEBKAC actually. Somehow, my cable for my headphones wasn't plugged all the way in to my computer. Thanks anyways!

You can play a sound in a surround-system. However, Java Sound API has some restrictions.
1, It does not play multi-channel format.
2, It does not support speaker channel assignment. That means you can not choose a certain speaker channel to play.
So overall, it can play a sound format which is either one or two channels in a multi-channel system.

I've got a 2G iPod Touch, 8GB. I've only ever played music using the speaker, until very recently when I used it to test an amp (it worked fine, so not the issue), and jsut now, trying with a pair of non-Apple headphones.
I plugged in the phones, and found audio only coming out of the right speaker/channel. Fiddling with the plug a bit, I got the right channel coming out of both headphone speakers if I had the jack about half in. I gave up holding the jack half in and went back to the speaker.
Cue my playlist coming to a song that has piano on left channel only; I can't hear the piano, but the rest of the song is fine. So, now I'm only getting right channel from headphones and internal speaker. I've rebooted it a few times with no luck. What can I do?

I thought that at first, but that wouldn't explain it carrying over to the internal speaker. I tried if with some other jacks and pairs of headphones, and they all go as far in as they can (up to the ring at the base of the jack) and still right speaker only.
With the way the case curves on the back, and shears off some of the headphone input, I'm wondering if it needs a special adapter or something to get all the way in? A bit disappointing if that's the case.

  • Both rear output is heard through left rear speaker, none in right rear spea

I have a Soundblaster Audigy card with Creative Insire 5. 5200 Speakers. The problem I am having is no sound is heard from the right rear speaker channel. I know the speaker works, as I have switched them around to check (they all work). Doing the speaker test, all speakers are heard in order, and when it gets to the left rear speaker, it plays both the right and left rear message. In other words, both my right and left rear sounds are playing on the left rear speaker, with no sound out of the right rear speaker. I have all of the updated drivers for the product. I don't know if it is hardware or software related, or if it is the speaker system, but I do know all the speakers work. I am showing no problems (even hidden) in the hardware manager. Any help or clues would be appreciated

Bump !!?Cause I am having this exact same problem with my xf-i (XtremeMusic) and my logitech Z-5500 Speakers. I have them connected using the 3 analog wires and yes, they are correctly plugged in. The Logitech Control Pod is set with the switch in the rear to the 6 channel position and the Pod is listed as the source being 'Direct' and '6 Channel' when I try this. When I run the speaker test, it fails the right rear speaker (no sound) and when I try the left rear, the sound comes out of both rear speakers. I have also tried the THX speaker setup settings and they do the same thing on the test (set for 5.). Also, I have all the settings on the Entertainment module set to push the audio to the External Decoder (for everything, since the 5500's can do this, decode DTS and Dolby). Regardless, it should at least be able to pass the Speaker Test. I did have an Audigy card installed, but I removed it before installing this card. The only thing I had installed for the Audigy was the drivers and there was nothing listed in 'add/remove' to remove them. I had none of the apps installed (cause I knew the xf-i was coming)?I sent a email to creative and have heard nothing (been a day, I know they say -2 days, but come on, hire people !!). Can someone out there please help !
    !!! Thank alot?Dr-
