X-fi fatality center spea
I am running x64 with the drivers posted on the creative website, and I have the x-fi fatality card. I have Logitech Z-5500, and I know everything is plugged in correctly. When I go to test my speaker channels/assign them, everything else works great. When it comes to the middle, I hear a muffeled "Front Center" comming from the sub. Any suggestions on what to do?
Let me try to help him while helping myself since I see that moderators are actually posting.
I have an X-FI Xtreme Music card and brand new Creative Inspire T6060 5. speakers... Center channel does NOT work either. If I put my ear to the center speaker, I get that muffled sound matt talks about.
To answer possible questions in advance:
- The speakers are not defecti've... how do I know this? I plugged the center speaker to a front/rear speaker jack on the subwoofer and it worked perfectly.
- Be it known... one thing is the "speakers" and another the "subwoofer"... The subwoofer's center channel jack "may" be defecti've, but I hope not. This seems to be a software issue, but if anything in my speaker system is indeed defecti've, then it's the subwoofer's center channel jack.
- A friend once had this exact problem with other creative speakers and an Audigy card... he fixed it by turning off the decoder on the card since the speakers already had one... then the center channel worked. HOWEVER, I do this, and it still doesnt work.
- Another problem is that headphone jack that looks like a remote controller... the one that also controls the volume. When I plug the headphones, I can't hear anything... I have to unplug the rear speaker wire from the subwoofer and plug it in the front speaker jack, and viceversa, and then the headphones work... it seems like the little volume controller with the headphones jack is inverting the speaker setup, but that's another issue that comes SECOND... I'm most worried about getting that center channel working since it's a problem lots of people are having.
- I did enough searches for speaker problems on the Inspire T6060 and found nothing... it wasn't until I searched for the soundblaster x-fi that I found tons of people complaining about that center channel being dead. So, it has to be a software issue.
I have 2 hypothesis for the problem:
. The subwoofer's center channel jack is defecti've.
Stupid me, I drilled the walls and did a beautiful installation of invisible wiring, mounted the speakers on the wall, etc... I did not expect brand new creative speakers to be defecti've out of the box. So, needless to mention, I am not going to return these.... if anything, it's the subwoofer that needs to go.
2. One of the 0 million different sound modification options is actually killing that center channel. A simple software conflict which can be resolved by clicking or unclicking the right checkbox.... but which one
That's the issue... the rest of this post, is pretty much venting. Read it if you're a moderator whose job is to gather feedback. I represent everyone that I know so it's not a lone year old whose opinion doesn't matter.
I miss the days when there was only 2 simple settings... ON or OFF... I've been a computer technician for 0 years and in 2 days I've already spent over 0 hours in the creative software suite looking for something that's actually useful. The THX audio control (where I hope to find the answer) does the same thing as the volume control, which does the same thing as the console that pops up when you put a movie, which does the same thing as the console that pops up when you change the mode to gamer... one or two options each one that the other one doesn't have, but easily could. SO many programs, hundreds of megabytes of wasted space... and the "diagnostics utility" all it does is tell you that everything is fine even when it isn't... not even a LINK pointing to a place where you MIGHT get lucky and find a solution.
THANK YOU however, for not installing browser plugin crap without permission... The media go toolbar at the desktop was very annoying but at least you make it uninstallable. Again, THANK YOU for not shoving us even MORE software trash.
There are about a dozen utilities in the software bundle... all very pretty and so far bug free... but, they all of them seem to do the same... test speakers, but none offer any solutions or troubleshooting for issues. Just a lot of different interfaces and "cool" different names when they all do the same one way or another... test speakers. My advice, quit wasting our hard disk space and just make ONE utility for speaker and soundcard setup... doesn't have to be pretty, doesn't have to have an interesting name... it just has to work. All of the options in all of the utilities would be much more accessible and understandable if they were in ONE standalone application. Creative used to do this in the past, but they're trying too hard to join the "microsoft" bandwagon of making everything pretty and sooo easy and sooo stable that they don't need to give you any options to fix anything because their products are soooo perfect that you'd never have to fix them.
It's already confusing dealing with ONE utility to have to deal with half a dozen more without knowing what the difference is between them. I know you're just trying to make things "simpler for everyone" but you're doing exactly the opposite. I actually make MONEY thanks to you... because nobody "normal" is capable of installing any of these components. Not even a webcam. Plugging stuff is the easy part. Understanding the darn documentationless utilities is what breaks the will of the people and make them hire a technician. Most of these people in the forum are computer savvy, and I'm the one everyone I know comes to for PC answers (except one friend who bails me out when I'm stuck). AND WE are unable to understand this... what's left for the teenagers whose parents buy them the stuff... that's your biggest customer base... neither the kid, nor the parents have a CLUE about fixing a computer issue, NOR THE WILL to do it... these people don't even know where to ask for help and forget about the support phone number. With all the "easy to use" applications, they're worse off than not having them.
Thanks for reading... I've spent so long trying to fix this that I needed to unload. Don't take me wrong, I love creative products... I never buy another brand for multimedia equipment... except for my super cool belkin mouse and a few sony electronics... but my mp3 player, webcam, speakers, headphones, optical dri'ves, and soundcards have always been creative... This the only time i've been so frustrated with your products and I'm sure it's a simple checkbox that needs to be ticked or unticked somewhere.
One of those software plugins that mess the sound with effects that shouldn't even exist is disabling that front channel. I really doubt that the speaker system or the sound card are defecti've in any way. I'm Please help.

I have SB Live 5.1 need help enabling my center spea
I have a Sb Li've 5. and all my speakers work expect for the center, when i run the test it indicated that the center speaker works. I have browsed the forum and find that the answer lies with CMSS, despite this i am unable to find out where to enabel this feature, creative gives instructions only for audigy cards. Do i need an upgrade or am i just not seeing the location of this feature?
Thanks for any helpmaster2828,
Activation for CMSS on Li've! 5. card is the same as the Audigy series. You have to activate them via PlayCenter. You can look in this thread under the header 'Sound Blaster Extigy/Li've! 5./Audigy'

No/very low sound out of center spea
I have the sound blaster li've! 24-bit card and i just bought a brand new logitech x-530 system, and hooked it up and everything worked except for the front speaker. I have tried the whole EAX thing and it didn't do anything. I played a game and everything worked, like I could hear the shots behind me and stuff but when i shot a gun, no sound came out the front speaker, and i know thats not right. When i do the creative speaker settings and put it on 5. and do channel it does all of them but the front, but when i put my head way up to the speaker i can hear it. Is there something I need or am I just missing something? PLEASE HELP!!!
I kinda have the same problem - I have no sound from center speaker when doing speaker test, but it's works loud and clear for all other applications.

Ok I have a SB000, when i run a speaker text, the center speaker has no sound, I moved the input from the left speaker and changed it with the center speaker port on back of subwoofer, sound came from speaker then but nothing came out for the left when plugged into the center port. I'm running XP OS and have the drivers for XP. What might be the problem?
Message Edited by papaw282 on 02-0-2005 08:6 PMThanks,
I spoke to customer service again and was told that both the Service Department's database and the Website to check for status were undergoing upgrades and were not reliable. I was also told that my issue had been elevated to "priority" last time I called (which apparently produced no effect) and she was elevating it to "critical". She stated that would result in a query being sent to the repair depot, and if they replied in 48 hours as they are supposed to, we would either get an estimate of the repair time (note that at that point we will be past the time it should have been in my hands), or they would declare it "lost" and begin the procedure that would result in a refurbished replacement being sent. I am amazed.
I envy your depth of backup; I'm fighting a deadline. The computer that is my Hotsync and backup must be sent back to IS soon, as I am leaving the company, and if the TX is not back I will lose all 1,100 contacts, all the tasks, notes, and the data from the dozens of aftermarket programs, including some medical monitoring information my MD wants to see, along with other databases that have been building for a long time.
I truely wish sombody out there, hopefully Palm considering my investment in additional software and learning curve time, will realize that a screen like the TX's would be ideal for the Treo line. It (a large screen with soft keys) obviously works fine for the iPhone for phone functionalities, and if one of the Treos had such a screen I would have one in a New York Second. It seems to me with the market results that the stand alone PDA is fading fast, but I do too much with mine to be able to use a tiny low rez screen on the current Treos. They could lose the keyboard, expand the screen and put back Graffiti (1), which was always more accurate than 2 anyway.
Well, first we wait to see when a replacement comes. -

Audigy 2 ZS with 5.1, very low volume from front center spea
I have an Audigy 2 ZS and Altec Lansing 25CN speakers (5.). The sound comes out fine from all but the front center speaker, from which I can barely hear anything. However, if I run the Creative Diagnostic and test the speakers, the sound comes out just fine. Tests in the THX Console work fine too. Anyone have an idea what's going on?

Well, I got a few problems with my Creative Li've! 5. Digital (Model SB0220), but for purposes of practicality, I'll focus on the latest, most annoying problem.
I get no in-game sound/ Media Player sound/ itunes sound/ etc. from my center speaker.
That is to say, when I enter the Creative HQ, I test all fi've speakers of my Logitech X-530 5. Surround sound system, and ALL of them report back as working- I hear sound out of all of them.
Background:
I have enabled 5. support from my Creative HQ, I have used the install CD to install the software, although my drivers have failed to properly install, like many people report with these 5. Digital cards. Having said that however, I still get good sound from the remaining four speakers in my system, and they seem to function well for games/movies, but that **bleep** center speaker is annoying me.
I've tried re-installing the drivers I was able to find on www.driverguide.com, and got the same "Unable to detect any Sound Card on your system" message that everyone with my card seems to get, so I tried to manually install the drivers by extracting the file, going to the audio/WinXp_2k folder and applying those drivers to the 'unknown audio controller' in my Device Manager, but again- no dice.
I don't want to have to re-format my computer just to get this to work, and I'd love some feedback as to how to proceed from here.So I've got a new speaker set now, and tried it out... to my immense disappointment I still don't get anything from the center speaker. Is there something special you have to do to get this thing working? There's always that chance I missed something, or am I just stuck with a defect in my Audigy card?
edit: I have just tried it with the onboard AC97 sound chip, and then the center speaker works :s (why didn't I think of that beforehand)
So is there something special you need to enable with the Audigy card setup or is mine simply defect? 'Cause this isn't really how it should be, buying a sound card for better sound and then noticing the lowly onboard soundchip works far better...Message Edited by 65532 on 2-03-2005 0:09 PMMessage Edited by 65532 on 2-03-2005 0:0 PM -

Fatal error during installing HP Solution Center for Deskjet F2180
Hi everyone!
During installation of HP Solution Center for Deskjet F2180 it says "fatal error" - couldn´t write the key to " \SOFTWARE" plus "MSI.GPBaseService2" error.
I tried many times to completely uninstall all this software and delete keys in regedit and reinstall it. I also respected the order: firstly install, after that connect printer. HP Digital Imagiing Monitor is working right but iťs insufficient for me. Maybe there will be some problem with permissions in Windows, who knows. I have just installed Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
Could you help me to solve it, please? Each response pleases!
This question was solved.

Fatal Error During Solution Center Install - "Key Not Valid for Specified State"
I have encountered an error while trying to install HP Solution Center for my J6480 All-In-One. The software I'm installing is "OJJ6400_Full_10.exe"
I can get past the installation option selections (i.e., the screens that allow selection of which components you want installed) as well the online check for updates to the software. However, shortly after that I get a fatal error the full text of which are:
Error Situation Code: 23551631
The following lines were retrieved from the installation error logs.
Now Launching=X:\hpzmsi01.exe -m dot4wrp "-*"
".\autorun_network.inf" "-networkonly" -| XXX -f X:\DIVins??.DAT
Error message received: Key not valid for use in specified state.
X:\cioum32.msi failed with return code 1603
MSIInstall() failed with 1603
Exit code=1603
Your help is appreciated. Thanks.Hey @redleader74,
At this time I am going to have you unlock the hidden System Administrator Account and attempt an install under there. Ideally, if everything installs fine you should be able to log back into your normal User Account and the complete software and driver package for your HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer will be installed and functional. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers:
Click on your Start menu
Select All Programs
Select the HP folder
Select your HP Officejet
Select Uninstall
Please follow any onscreen prompts to complete the uninstall. Once the uninstall is complete please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Clear Temp Files:
Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
Step 3: Unlock System Administrator Account:
Click on your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD
CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer
When your computer comes on log into the new Account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it.
If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator Account we just unlocked
Step 4: Install Device:
Under the Administrator Account please click here to download the latest drivers for your printer.
Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left
Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen instructions to install your printer
Once the installation is complete, please test the functions of your HP Officejet to ensure that everything is functioning properly now. If everything installs fine, log out of the Administrator Account and back into your normal User Account. All the Software and Drivers for your product should show installed now on your Account. Once you're logged into your User Account please test your HP Officejet again to verify that your print and scan functions are still working.
If everything works fine, you will want to Hide the Administrator Account.
Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD
CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:no and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer
Please let me know if these steps resolve your issue. Good luck!

XFi Fatality, entertainment center install is
Hi all, sent this to creatives tech support but thought i would post it hear too.
Installed sound card
Ok for a few days
Installed some software for guitar called guitar rig 2
Couldnt get it to work properly, lots of interference/ background noise, played around with settings in the program, no luck so uninstalled it.
Switched to creatives audio creation mode but pc froze.
rebooted and tried several things but no good even when i did a system restore.
Uninstalled all drivers and software for card.
Tried to reinstall drivers and software but it would only ever get to 27% before it just stopped.
Carried out another system restore so I was now back to having everything installed again but not working correctly.
Tried repairing all software with the install disc, same as reinstall, pc just stopped.
Repaired programs individually with some success,
Music creation mode now works.
The only problem left which doesn?t want to repair is the entertainment centre and remote control, I cant uninstall or reinstall, when I try either, the computer just stops responding to either command, the pc has not locked, i can use it as normal, its just the install stops responding.
I have run registry cleaners but this has not had any success.
I hope somone can help because im loosing faith in creative and am wishing i had spent my 50 quid somewhere else.
Thanks for reading
Richi have the X-fi elite pro?I had the same issue with the entertainment center. I tried multiple re installs, reg cleaner then install.(SB's uninstaller leaves residue everywhere)still would hang near 27% install and lock up. I did custom install and did not install the entertainment center and that allowed me to get the rest of the product installed. I also have some other strange failures:?Every once in a while the card isnt recognized, all of my audio applicatons pop up with a "..the drivers/device you were using in a previous session is unavailable or missing..."------------reboot usually fixesCompletely loses MIDI------------reboot usually fixesMachine check exception BSOD happens once in a while, only after the soundcard was installedThe big breakout box......only the push in mute on the large volume knob works...sometimes.this is my system, i have recently installed the new SB drivers but am still having these issues?OS Name?Microsoft Windows XP Professional?

No Center / Subwoofer from Setup Spea
Hi,
I have the X-Fi ExtremeMusic and the 2.5.0002 driver. Whenever I use the "Speaker Setup" utility for Vista, I get no sound from my center / subwoofer speakers. However, when I play music/video/games, there is sound coming out of my center and subwoofer. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks.http://forums.creative.com/creativel...essage.id=7369?Install applications from the CD image discussed in above post. To get BASS redirected to sub-woofer you will need THX Console and setup BASS Management. If you want center channel working, use CMSS-3D feature.
DO NOT install drivers off the CD though. Use latest driver from Creative support page. -
X530 logitech & X-fi fatality - problem with sound rear sides, subwoofer & centre spea
Hi everyone,
I've looked into several postings but none of them could help me.. or maybe I didn't understand them.
My problem is I have a logitech 5. surround system. All cables are connected as they should be. When I do diagnostic the only speakers that work are the front left and right. Even when I do the rear side diagnostic or the subwoofer diagnostic the sound comes out of the 2 front boxes. I've tryed changing all kind of things in my game mode. I enabled EAX in game mode. I tryed CMSS-3D stereo surround and stereo xpand. I have no idea how to fix this problem.
Hope someone can help me.
CheersMake sure you dont have 'matrix' mode or some kind of mode that emulates 5. on. I had the same problem (but with x-540's) and just figured it out.
