X-Fi fatality no sound with Asus A8N32 SLI del

This may be a noob question but do i need to connect a floppy power plug to my card to get it to work? Bought the card OEM with no front panel, installed the latest drivers from creative but no sound at all in Windows XP. Have tried it in 2 different PCI slots but no luck.

The X-Fi Xtreme Music Refurbished is available on the creative webstore.PN: 70SB04600003-8? $69.99?This?is what I have and I get the DTS and Dolby options in Windows XP, Take a look!http://us.creative.com/products/prod...7&product=6069

  • XFi No Sound on Asus a8n-sli prem

    hello
I am encountering a horrible problem.
    My specs:
    athlon xp 3800+
asus a8n-sli premium bios revison 0., 6.7 chipset drivers
    evga 7800gtx
    X-Fi Fatality
With a fresh install of windows, i cannot get any sound at all. Originally i notice the video card and the sound card sharing the same IRQ every time and i moved it XFi physically around (different PCI slots) and made sure they each had their own IRQ number.
Despite all my attempts i cannot get any sound out of the card. I disabled the onboard sound and any other ports im not using.
Im really out of ideas and not sure what to do. Mobo has been flashed to latest bios and latest chipset drivers installed. Fresh copy of win xp and im pretty sure everything is correct in the bios. There was newer Evga drivers released this morning and ill install them later but i dont think they are the problem.

    Hi,
it is a Problem with the NForce4 Chipset!

I have the same problem, but if i put the card into the second of the 3 PCI slots it will work!

  • Help needed with X-fi ex.music problems with nforce4/ asus a8n-sli del

My x-fi extreme music doesnt work with my mb (asus a8n-sli deluxe) it gets slower and slower and finally it didnt boot win xp home.
After disconnecting the card my system worked perfectly, strangely in the beginning i had no problems (app 2 days) and now it doesn't work
    Has anybody a solution ?

Actually someone did post a work around they got from Logitech support. If you go here http://forums.creative.com/creativel...cending&page=5 explains temporarly changing a key in the registry. Ppl report it works so maybe give it a shot?
    mikelebron wrote:
That problem has not been resolved yet. You will have to li've without asus update and use the dos version.. That means you will have to boot from a floppy or CD rom and get to DOS screen to do Bios updates. You can thank the creative drivers for breaking your Asus Update

  • X-Fi Xtreme & Asus A8N-SLI Del

I've checked messages concerning X-Fi and nForce4 motherboards.
    Here are my specs
    Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe (rev. A3) BIOS revision 05 (0/2/2005)
    Athlon64 3500+ s939 Venice
    2GB (2xGB) Corsair PC3200 3-3-3-8 (dual channel)
    (SLI) NVIDIA 7800 GT
    X-Fi Xtreme
    SG Barracuda 20GB 7200.7
    Plextor PX-740A
    Enermax WhisperII SLI Power
    Windows XP SP2
    PROBLEM:
Computer shuts down, with no error message or event log entry, at random times during Windows XP usage (games, internet usage, Guitar Port usage, etc...)
    Read on...
Computer shuts down during POST before CPU recognition message is displayed.
    TROUBLESHOOTING:
After problem first presented itself, I tried to recreate. It obviously did... at completely RANDOM and ethereal-like times.
I then pulled all hardware from the case and placed upon my workbench. I built the computer with the following: Mobo, CPU, Vid card, X-Fi, DIMM. Problem recreated.
I began pulling hardware by and started with the X-Fi (the ONLY un-needed component) and the problem failed to present itself.
I then added DIMM at a time. Problem still failed to present.
I then added the other video card. Problem did not present.
I then hardware configued for SLI. Problem did not present.
I then added the X-Fi. Problem presented once more.
    CONCLUSION:
After the process listed above, any troubleshooter would find the X-Fi to be the cause of the problem.
I can find no entries ANYWHERE on the Asus site.
    MORE HISTORY:
When the computer is working (for instance, playing a game) the sound works, AND HOW! And then I lose power to the system.
This is my first post ever, here, and my first post on this issue. I will edit as issues change and I apply more troubleshooting.

let us know how you make out.....
seems like you've tried most everything that makes sense... Seems like, from what I've read, that this card had some issues early on.. and they've come out with a bios flash to address some problems... You may want to check in with support to see if this applies in your case.. (I think there is a way to check you're sound cards revision number to see if you have a card requiring this fix)...
I am inclined to think its a hardware issue with your particular xfi card at this point... but I wouldn't totally rule out a compatability issue with your card using the NF4 setup you've described.. Based on my readings in the past, the NForce4 platform has been somewhat finicky with certain hardware combinations.. including psu's, NCQ HDD dri'ves and audigy soundcards...
Interestingly , I remember there was a big debate regarding the use of dual rail psu's with twin SLI cards in use, particular for the 6800 series and higher cards.. I believe ASUS recommended a PSU with rated minimally for 25a on the +2v rail.. with a total rating of 500w or more. (Not sure what it would be for your setup using the new 7800 cards). The debate was whether or not using 2 graphics cards in SLI mode would create a demand for more amperage than one of the dual rails feeding it could provide .. (in your case, I think your psu provides 8a across each of the 2 rails).. Since dual rails are isolated from each other to better protect the cpu , etc.. the board can't simply borrow from the 2nd 2v rail to meet its demands.. So folks argued that if running with 2 graphics cards in SLI mode, then you may be better off buying a PSU with a single rail having a higer rating.. (e.g. 33a) ... Not sure if a consensus was ever reached on that issue.. you may want to check with ASUS on that one... I thought you mentioned that you already tried running with a single card, so this may not apply in your case .. assuming the issue using dual rail psu's is even a valid one....

  • [SOLVED] No sound with Asus Xonar DGX

I've got no sound so I've looked into journalctl and there were some bluez and pulseaudio related erros. So i.a.w. this topic https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=155714 I did `systemctl enable bluetooth.service`. No more errors but still no sound.
    Other things I did:
    - unplug/plug headphones
    - check whether anything is muted in alsamixer and the gnome sound applet (note: nothing is greyed-out, microphone picks up signals)
snd_oxygen i.e. ASUS XONAR is the sound card I would like to use and I hook my headphones to.

    systemctl --all --no-pager|grep -i pulse
    returns nothing.

  • W520 No sound with ASUS PA248 Monitor connected via Displayport

When I connect my external monitor (ASUS PA248) to my W520, the audio disappears.  When I disconnect it, the audio returns.  This seems a bizarre link between audio and video, but there it is.  Note that the PA248 does NOT have built-in speakers.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, that was it.  I have a bluetooth adapter connected to my Yamaha 5.1 system, and I stream music to it from my PC.  Somehow the default was changed to the bluetooth.  I have set it back to the Conexant Audio.
Even so, it is extremely odd that if I disconnected the monitor, the sound returned.

  • X-fi xtreme gamer fatal1ty conflict with Asus A8N SLI Premium Mobo with Nvidia nForce chip

i have had my x-fi for a few months now and ever since installing it there have been constant system hiccups, blue-screens, and performance locku
    ps.
my system was perfect running the audigy 2, but the x-fi is messing everything up.
i have read about the conflicts with the nvidia chipsets and the x-fi drivers and have yet to find a solution. i love the quality of the sound from the card but i cant deal with these issues any longer and am going to return it if there is not some sort of solution.
it seems this problem is well known and has been for quite some time, i cant understand why creative hasnt released a patch for the drivers of the card.
if anyone has any suggestions for me i would really appreciate it so i dont have to yank the card out and return it to newegg.
    thanks very much.
    -Art

In all seriousness, return the card. Do it NOW because you still have the chance to. Don't wait until it's too late.
Then after that, if you are curious why I say that, do some searches about other issues everyone is having and Creative not being very responsi've.
Search (either here or use Google for external websites) for "ha20x2k.sys" and "BSOD" (or a combination of both). "Crash" and "BF242" or even other games such as WoW and CoH - just be (pun not intended) creative.
Don't be like the others here (like myself), who own a very expensi've paper weight. Sure you can continue to use it for listening to music, but that's like buying a sports car and just being able to use the stereo.Message Edited by naddie on 04-2-200706:54 AM

I seem to be having the same problem playing HDMI audio.  Do you happen to remember how you got this resolved?

Audio works fine through the Realtek chip (HDA ATI SB card). Just not through HDMI.

  • Fresh Install Vista 64bit X-fi Fatality no sound

Hey everyone I'm needing help in getting sound to work with my card. I have just rebuilt my entire computer setup and am having issues getting any sound with my card. I've downloaded the driver? 6.0..368 and have rebooted but no sound is coming out still. I'm at a loss here, have searched the forum for other issues and haven't found an answer that works. If anyone has some answers, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    Vista 64 bit
    X-fi Fatality card
    EVGA 750i SLI FTW Board

I can't get my mic to work at all in Vista 64. I also have 4 gigabyte's of ram. I have the latest drivers installed.
It constantly reads as unavailable in the Control Panel / Sound / Recording.
I can turn on my MB soundcard and plug it into that and get it to register with Vista, but it still doesn't work, it just screeches.
I'm not sure what to do, my mic was very important when I played WoW and I feel as though I might not be able to fix this problem anytime soon. I could try reinstalling the creative drivers to see if anything changes...
Oh, and I have the X-Fi Gamer card.
    ***FIXED IT***
I found a fix for my problem. I downloaded Smart Recorder for Vista 64 on Creative's website, and messed around with it. I was able to actually hear myself through my mic and was able to get rid of the hiss with the option. Than magically after playing with it, my Mic showed up in the control panel / sound / recorder. Tried it out in gtalk and it works fine. Crossing my fingers for the future.Message Edited by dcasez on 07-8-2007:09 PM

  • Kernel Bug No sound on ASUS Laptops

I had to Rollback my Kernel to 7/01/2012 in regard to the sound issue with ASUS Laptops. All Kernels after that the sound is not detected on the upgraded kernels. This is an issue for me because I need the most recent linux kernel to install my video driver Catalyst. And Catalyst conflicts with the Rollback Kernel but at the same time I will have no sound if I upgrade the Kernel. This has prevented me from using and enjoying Linux on my ASUS Laptop. I had a previous thread where I fully diagnosed the problem. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=164742 I discovered I had to Rollback my Kernel in order for the Sound to work. Please refer this bug to the Linux Gods. Thanks.

No actually 2012 not 2013 I don't know if there was a more recent kernel the most recent install I did was early July of this year and that kernel was the most recent till now. I'm not in my linux right now so I couldn't tell you which Kernel version it stopped working sometime between last summer and fall. Linux 3.4 4-2 the sound was functioning fine on my ASUS Laptop. I guess I could try to Rollback catalyst so it don't conflict with usimg an older kernel but I haven't found a solution for that. I guess my last question would be how do I file a bug? I tryed using flyspray but had some difficulty creating an account.

  • New bag with asus p67 and x-fi titanium

hi, I install tvtuner averTV 509 on my asus sabertooth p67 and when I try to see TV I saw the horizontal bands (interference)? making a couple of tests, I realized that the noise is x-fi titanium. When I enable onboar audio the?interference disappeared?. then I enable x-fi and I have interference again. Then I chang the tuner audio from PCI sound to line-in(x-fi) from tuner line-out the?interference disappeared?. Then I enable? "to listen to this device"? in windows 7 audio settings and I have interference again?.
I try different tv tuners(aver tv 509 ,avertv 507, avertv MCE36 Plus compro? M5F?) and all of them have this interference .
On my old mainboard P5KC on p35 chip all work OK. I concluded that this is another bug x-fi titanium with asus P67 mainboard
    ps I have windows 7 x64?

helped install the card in slot x6, interference gone. I think it's the same problem that the loss of sound with plug and unplug headphones on P67 motherboard. because it also helps to install card in the slot x6, but in this case, my video card operates in x8? mode. Please pass this information to creative Labs let them make a workable soundblaster x-fi Titanium card of the motherboards based on intel p67 chipset in x slots.

I am trying to connect my Macbook pro 2010 to my Samsung HDTV using a mini display port to hdtv cable. Trying to play a slide show in IPhoto but I only get sound with no picture. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I keep saying this over and over, in the hope that people who do a search will find it.  Apple cannot possibly test for or be reponsible for the bazillion combinations of adapter, cables, and TV's out there.  The only monitors that are 100% guaranteed to work with the MacBook Pro are the Cinema Displays and Thunderbolt Displays, because, they're made by Apple.  They're expensive, but they work perfectly.
My guess is that you bought a cheap MDP to HDMI cable, or have a defective one.  From my reading of these boards over the past few months, cheap cables have a high failure rate.  And the regular priced ones have only a slightly less of one.  Try a new one.  Make sure you do not damage the Thunderbolt port.

  • My iPad does not have sound when on the Internet, including YouTube, but does have sound with iTunes and other apps.  How can I correct this?

My iPad does not have sound when on the Internet, including YouTube, but does have sound with iTunes and other apps.  How can I correct this?

If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
