X-fi Fatality Titanium "What u hear" Vista Problem

Now let me begin.
I Recently bought a Creative Fatality Pro, and i was recieving constant Blue Screen of Deaths, and i figured it was a faulty card, and my warranty expired.
I do ALOT of audio editing for church, work and a forum where i am the admin of. My most used feature is the "What u Hear" feature, which is excellent. I've always used it since i was young. However... this week i paid $400+ for the Creative Fatality titanium professional champion, the big mamma, and from what i've been told here and there, Titanium does NOT support this feature on Vista...
Why the hell not? I mean.. i paid big money and i get less features than the OLDER cards?
. Is there a legit Reason why there is no "What u hear" in Vista? (i have checked recording and selected show hidden and unused devices)
2. Is there a work around to fix this? (Installing XP drivers over the Vista ones)
3. Will this be fixed in the future?
Im fuming at Customer Service for basically not knowing the card existed... And then having no idea what to do.
Can someone PLEASE help me with this? I've been browsing all day to no avail... Cheers.

The Titanium does not have "What u hear". I think it's because of DRM in Vista.

  • Audigy 2 ZS plat Pro, "What you hear"? problem PLEASE H

Hello, im a gamer, I play cs:source. I just bought the plat pro and I have issues. In gaming you must use a microphone to communicate. And everything was great with my Audigy gamer. But after purchasing the plat pro I noticed I had a problem. In the system volume properties in recording windows xp has the default playback as "what you hear". It doesnt transmit what you speak into the microphone, it transmits "what you hear" Lets say you were listening to music and you try to talk into the mic. All they hear is the music, even though you have headphones on and the microphone isnt picking it up. Anyways, thats what "What you hear" does. So I select microphone in the recording properties and all is great, problem fixed. but when I load up cs:source and when I connect to a server it resets windows defaults to "what you hear" So everytime I connect to a server and try to talk all they hear are my game sounds. yes I can alt tab after connectiing to a server and switch it back again to "microphone" but its quite a hassle.
    PLEASE HELP!

  • Re: Creative and VISTA - Works on Record WHAT You HEAR AT LAST - Follow These Steps!!!!

I have "Sorted" Out My Creative to work (NOT RECORDING WHAT YOU / I HEAR) with VISTA?I use Musicmatch to Play and or Real Audio to Listen / Stream?from the Net (You may use ANY Player for the same) and then Press the Record on My COOL EDIT Pro and WHALA There I Have Music that has been Recorded - What a Relief!!!!!!!:smileyvery-happy:?Get / Download COOL EDIT PRO and do ONLY the Following Settings:?Set the Settings in the Options - Settings - Multitrack - Click / Tag in "Open Order" on "Rec Play" and Click/Tag in "Start Order" on "Play/Rec." and Click/Tag in Default Rec on "Stereo" and Away You Go?Enjoy Your Creative Sound Card and Recording / Streaming Yet AGAIN?Best Wishes?Andre (from South Africa - East Coast - Port Elizabeth - The Friendly City)

I do not have 'what you hear' as an option any longer with the new Titanium; I had it with my older X-Fi Fatalty, but not this new card.
I would imagine it has something to do with Microsoft trying to limit recording of DRM-protected content, and Creative bowing to their wishes.

  • Missing "What You hear" on X-Fi Titanium

    Hi,
at first, sorry for my bad english, but without practice, its not easy
Last week I bought an brand new Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Professional. I?m using Vista Ultimate x64 an the drivers from the original CD (Driver version 2.7.).
On my old X-Fi Extreme Music, I had a recording Device which was called "What you hear" (or "What U hear" , the original german description is "Was Sie h?ren"). It has the same function like "Stereomix" on other soundcards.
I miss this recording device on my new X-Fi Titanium, there is only the microphone, the line in and the digital in. Is this feature not longer Part of the Productline? I think it was verry useful.
Is there any chance to enable "What you hear" on the new X-Fi Soundcards? I reinstalled the driver finally, but this was not the solution^^
Again, sry for my bad english, but may, somebody can help me.
    Best regards

Also, do you think the recording of "What You Hear"?would still be possible?through on-board sound chipset?
Hm, my onboard Sound (its called ASUS SupremeFX X-Fi, but its only a Analog Devices Chip with some X-Fi software feature)? already have the "Stereomix". Hm... I will miss the "What U hear" on the X-Fi, imho its a not a good decision to remove this feature. Its also a bit mindless, because it looks like that other manufacturer still use this feature and intigrate it in their soundcards...:smileyindifferent:

  • What u hear problems in vista 32bit

#What u hear problems in vista 32bit2 I just installed the newer variety of the x-fi notebook card with the wireless broadcast function, and for whatever reason installing the drivers failed the first time, I tried a clean install after that, and the microphone is displayed as not available and what u hear isn't present either, so is there a problem in the driver installation or are those features just non existent in the newer software I also noticed that line in works and the microphone input doesn't, gah, windows fixta is irritating,
EDIT: I found out how to get what u hear to work, I kind of felt stupid but all you have to do is right click in the recording device manager and hit show disabled devices and boom what u hear and the microphone input are there, for what reason I don't know why they were disabled in the first place, but hope this helps anyone with the same problem

    +Re: "What U Hear" Missing in Win7G ?
Agreed! I have an X-FI Extreme, upgraded to win 7, installed the latest audio drivers, and have just spent the last 2 hours trying to get my "what u hear" back without any luck at all.
I'll also mention that "disabled devices" are shown in the recording options, so that is not the issue.
I was using vista before with the exact same hardware and "what u hear" was available. The driver version was 5.2..200 dated 4/02/07 ... The current driver for windows-7 is 5.2..208 dated 3/08/2009. Maybe installing an older driver would do the trick? I don't know if that would work as I haven't been able to find the old driver I was using for download (just been bombarded with broken links). I'm also guessing that you'll be held hostage to the latest drivers in windows 7.
Get the latest drivers to lose functionality? Sounds like something apple would pull on you!
If anyone has a solution for this, please let us know, otherwise I'll be rolling all the way back to good old XP again.

  • Static Pop Upon Playback of "What U Hear" SB X-Fi Titanium PCI-E

    Hi,
I've spent a great deal of time over the past couple of months trying to resolve this problem with no luck. If someone can provide a solution I would be most grateful.
    System
Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCI-e with latest Creative drivers
    Windows XP Pro SP3
ASUS P5KC with Intel E8400 with latest BIOS and chipset
ATI Radeon HD6450 with latest drivers (HDMI Audio disabled)
Logitech Z-5300 5.1 Channel Surround Speaker System
    PROBLEM
When recording is made from any source using "What U Hear" source the original recording is flawless. However, when I playback the "What U Hear" file there are brief (.5 second) bursts of static that occur about every 2-5 seconds.
    FAILED EFFORTS
    1. Uninstalled and reinstalled all Creative drivers and programs.
    2. Disabled ATI Radeon HD6450 HDMI Audio.
    3. Installed latest Microsoft LifeCam VX5000 driver and turned it off in Audio devices.
    4. Uninstalled various other sound related software -- Toshiba Bluetooth, Anysoft Video Recorder.
    5. Disabled all optional background programs -- antivirus, PLEX, etc.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What U Hear recordings have worked on this system in the past.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

    Johnny,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have the X-Fi Titanium installed on a test system. I am not getting any of this crackling sound. Do you hear crackling noise during the recording process?
There could be other factors that may contribute to the crackling noise. If you have not already done so, it would be advisable to contact our Customer Support for further assistance.

  • RCrackling when recording "What U Hear" in WaveStudio7 (SB X-Fi Titanium)

Hi, I hope you can help, I recently purchased and installed a Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Champion Series souncard (driver version: 2. 7. 7), I am running Windows 7 64bit.
Playback is fine, however, when I try to record "what u hear" in WaveStudio 7, there is a distinct crackling when the recording is played back (it also appears in the waveform).
    Does anybody know the solution?
    Thanks.

V The last two Titanium drivers are meant to have a built in workaround to compensate for problems with the Nvidia/Creative crackling issue. Be sure to update to the newest of those. Also, be sure to grab your newest motherboard chipset drivers and update those as well. For a good while, the NFORCE drivers had not changed so if you have an NFORCE chipset, you should find some now. Also, Intel has issued newer drivers for their boards as well.

  • Crackling when recording "What U Hear" (SB X-Fi Titanium)

I posted this question a while back but was given no solution and so decided to wait a few months to see if any future driver updates fixed the problem. However, after having tried again today I still have the same problem and so I am forced to ask again!
I have the Creative SB X-FI Titanium installed, however when I try to record playback of sound via the "What U Hear" option I am left with a poor result. The recorded sound is glitchy, crackling like a dusty record.
How can I solve this problem? Clearly it isn't a small problem and having waited 6 months for a fix I would have expected Creative to have come up with something!
Here is an example of the result: http://soundcloud.com/jonny-hayes/soundblaster-crackling

  • How to get WHAT U HEAR option for PCI Express X-Fi Titanium sound card and Windows 7

how to get WHAT U HEAR option for PCI Express X-Fi Titanium sound card and Windows 7 ? Is it on the basic driver? or do you have to install some other software?

You have to install the rest of the software(s) for the sound card. The software is (if it is with the installation CD, though) called "Creative Smart Recorder" or something like that.

  • Xfi - xtreme/vista - no "what you hear" - please h

I have puchased new Dell pc, with Vista ultimate, and soundblaster xfi xtreme card in. Looking at the forums i am not the only person with the problem of locating "what you hear", i have gone through process of right clicking and showing disbled functions but alas it is not there. I have uninstalled drivers and reinstalled and it makes no difference at all. My soundcard was put in by Dell and i am little reluctant having had this pc only a week to take out the soundcard to check for product number, therefore although i get 90 day help from Creative i cant use this service. I spend a lot of time playing music triv on paltalk and without "what you hear" i cant do this - i have gone through all forums to try find solution but none found so far, but there must be one.Would i be better off getting rid of Vista and putting XP on, will this work ??Many thanks

Many thanks for response, it is X-FI XTREME MUSIC PCI SOUNDCARD, it is Vista Ultimate I am running. I have tried absolutely everything have reinstalled sound card/drivers but still the same, and there is no "what you hear" available. Even paltalk have tried to help me and they say it should be there but alas no.
If you have link to drivers please let me know, any help at the moment would be appreciated. ThanksCharlie
The drivers are on the Creative website. The only way I know to restore the "What You Hear" is to uninstall the driver and all the software, install an older version of the driver that had the "What you Hear" component (I don?t know where you?re going to get an older version of the driver), then update the driver to the latest one without uninstalling the old one unless prompted to during the update. After that you can install the software and whatever else you need.
This was how I got the option back after the driver update from the Microsoft Windows site installed the driver which removed the ?What You Hear? form my system.

  • Need 'What You Hear' recording option for Notebook(Vista)-Does Xi-Fi for Notebooks provide th

    Hi,
I have an Audigy sound card on a Dell desktop and it has the "What You Hear" recording option within Vista. I need the same option for my Dell Notebook, unfortuntately, this notebook uses a Sigmatel card within the motherboard. What device or application to i need to buy in order to get the "What you Hear" recording option to be available?
What am i attempting to do?I often record li've webcasts in which the video portion comes through a Li've Meeting or Lotus Same time application using a Screen Recording Application?BUT the Audio comes from a conference which i use a VoIP software to dial into. I need to be able to record the sound that's been generated through my computer as an internal source. I need to be able to select 'What You Hear' as the default recording device so that the screen recording application i use can also record the audio been played through the PC?Appreciate any help here. Thanks?Kevin

If it'sis not a Creative card, "what u hear" will be called something different. Maybe "stereo mix" or something else. The device just records anything coming from the soundcard. Play around and see if you don't have something similar to "what u hear" with a different name.

  • For Those who WANT "What u hear" on X-fi Titanium Cards! (F

    This is what you do.
    Open Mediasource 5 Player.
    Select "Digital In"
    Select "Wav, Multi-channels"
    Press "Record"
What ever you play will record, and save it as .wav files
I know its not exactly "what u hear", but Creative have permanently removed it and i doubt its gonna return.
Cheers Creative (the most useless sound company on the planet)

It depends entirely on the type of card you have.

  • Vista (32bit) and 'what u hear' problem

    Hi,
Wonder if anyone has encountered this problem. I usually mess around with sound n stuff and in XP used to record stuff on the fly using what u hear tool.
Since moving to Vista (32bit) whenever i record utilising the 'what you hear' recording setting the recording volume tends to MAX out at 100% regardless of what setting i set it at using the sound controller.
I have the X-Fi Xtreme music edition and am using the latest CL drivers (too afraid to try the M$ WHQL driver update which arri'ved for me today).
I use Adobe Audition .2 to record audio.
    Anyone have a work around?
    Thanks

Here's the answer to the WHAT U HEAR problem that just came in today from the wonderful folks at Creative.
"Please be informed that drivers updated from the web will comply with
UAA standards. However, due to Microsoft's new Windows Vista?
architecture, some features may be lost. I regret to inform you that
currently "What U Hear" as recording source is not supported in Windows
    Vista."
Doesn't sound very creative to me. I was originally asking about this in regards to a x-fi xtreme audio board but it looks like they've thrown up their arm is surrender to Vista period.
I have managed a fair work around by putting a y connector at my card's speaker out, running a patch cable to my stereo, and then sending it's signal back into the card's line in socket. There's probably a lot of signal loss but it does allow me to use my stereo's reverb and equalizer to good advantage. Good enough for what I'm doing.

  • SB Xi-Fi gaming - x64 vista - EAX console software / "what u hear" ?

    Greets,
I'm looking for the software that installs the EAX console, along with the "what u hear" input/recording options. I have the original driver installation cd - but for XP 32bit only, and I'm running vista64 currently. In the past, I downloaded this off the product support page, but the recent drivers I found there are driver only, and some watered-down options software.
The package I'm looking for included 3-5 pieces of software, of which the EAX console was one. Creative WAV studio was another. I don't recall the others.
Namely, I'm trying to find the components that allow me to record "what u hear" speaker output, as I hear it, and additionally reroute speaker output as line-in/mic input.
The BadBoy iso backup links don't resolve any more, not sure where else to find these.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The EAX Console is something that's bundled in Audigy cards.
Which X-Fi card do you have exactly, SB X-Fi XtremeGamer?

  • "what u hear" available but not working (vista)

okay so i just upgraded my x-fi drivers to the latest release and the "what u hear" recording option became available... only problem is it doesn't function as it's supposed to, i.e. it's not receiving the audio signal from the output, so when i go to record i get nothing... i have it activated in the sound options and i have it selected as the recording source... what do i have to do to get it functioning? [email protected]

    coldpenguin,
I can't recall much info for the Audigy but see if the option is listed in the properties setting. Open sounds and audio devices and go to audio tab. Click at Volume button of the 'Sound Recording' column. Now click on Options->Properties. Do you have that option listed?
