X-Fi Gamer &/Or Audigy 2 Faint Front & Center Chann

ps.
So I tried an Audigy 2 and got faint sound out of the front and center speakers, rear speakers sound great. I'm using the the latest bios, drivers ect. When the cards initialize or when themachine shuts down there's a loud pop or thud , so i'm thinking some kind of hardware conflict, but everything looks good, no IRQ or DMA conflicts. I have the onboard shut off and I have digital turned off as I'm using analog speakers. The card passes diagnostics and I tried them in another machine and they worked fine. I've reformated and tried fresh installations. Disabled SATA, just about everything I can think of. Iv'e had a similar problem on anther ASUS MB a few years ago and never resolved the problem. I'd really like to get an X-Fi Gamer to work on this machine. HEELLLPPP Please, The only sound I can get to work is the onboard and it sounds lame.

your own gun from the center speaker is pretty standard. And correct in the surround mapping.
As for enemy fire. There should definately be action taking place behind you if enemy gunfire is behind you. You are hearing everything else in surround though? If so, it must be as designed. =/

  • T7900 7.1 No Proper Sound On Front Center with Audigy 2 Va

I've had these inspire 7. speakers for about 4 years now, bought this audigy value 7. sound card on saturday, and the front center speaker, wont produce sound, and when im playing games, i get Very Low distorted sound from it, so i cant hear the sound in games properly.
i have swapped the front center speaker around with the front right one, and the speaker itself is working fine, im sure the fact i have no tone (bass/treble) control,?is the issue, because the speakers all work fine with my onboard sound and my old Audigy 5. SE, messing with the graphic equalizer also does nothing.
the software and drivers are fully updated for the sound card, and everything else is also upto date on my system.

  • Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input

0Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input? Hey everyone,
Here's the background of the issue. I got a PS3 over the holidays for literally free
I had my computer out in a testbed style. Plugged the PS3 into my monitor HDMI --> DVI cable, and Red/White into the front RCA jacks of the Front Panel (Aux 2). As soon as I plugged in the cable, I got sound out of my speakers and was able to enjoy my PS3 in 720p
I put all of the components back into the case after cutting exhause and intake fan holes. I brought everything back to school, fired up the PC and PS3. Lo and behold, there is no more sound from the PS3. I know that PS3s are temperamental in moving, but I hooked the audio up to my TV and the sound came out just fine. The AD Ext cable looks like it's secure and in place. When I hooked up a mic and headphones to the front, they worked fine as well. However it seems to be just the AUX 2 RCA inputs that dont work anymore. Any ideas about how to fix this issue? Is there a function I have to turn on now in the software to allow sound to pass through? Any information would be wonderful!? I'm going to try an optical cable in the near future, just need to borrow one from a friend =/

    Problem Solved.
I had moved my cards around for better airflow. I moved the SB Audigy card from the bottom PCI slot to the top. Thinking this might be the problem, I moved the video card back to the top slot PCI-E and the sound card to the bottom PCI slot. Sound is now working again. Thanks for the thread views?:smileytongue:
Think that when I have to buy Win 7 for real if the problem would still persist if I moved the card again? Or is this a hardware limitation?

  • Audigy 2 ZS with 5.1, very low volume from front center spea

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and Altec Lansing 25CN speakers (5.). The sound comes out fine from all but the front center speaker, from which I can barely hear anything. However, if I run the Creative Diagnostic and test the speakers, the sound comes out just fine. Tests in the THX Console work fine too. Anyone have an idea what's going on?

  • Sound - No Front/Center Speakers (5.1) with Realtek HD Sound on m9500z in Win7-64 bit

Just upgraded my new HP Pavilion quad core m9500z PC from Vista Home Premium-64 to Win7 Ultimate-64.  It has this built in Realtek HD sound card that supports 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1.  My Creative Inspire 5.1 speaker system will not play the front/center speakers (the green plug) on this PC.  The HP and MS sites quote a conflict with the HDMI video usage as the problem.  Uploaded the latest driver recommended by HP from MS, but no fix.  I am using the white rectangular plug that came with the Acer P221w monitor, not the smaller USB-like HDMI plug as the Acer monitor does not give that option.  I would hate to go back to a serial video interface to get the sound right.  Any suggestions?  (Never tested the speakers in Vista before upgrading since I upgraded out of the box.  They worked great on my old XP box.)

  • EAX issues in games with Audigy SE, one way or the ot

Hello everyone. I hope I'm asking for help in the correct forum. If not, please forgive my noobishness. =)?I don't know what's wrong, but EAX in Bioshock has terrible issues. I have XPx64 SP2, Audigy SE and when my corvette was new, I obtained SoundBlaster drivers specifically for x64 from April 06. But these were terrible. In many games (f.e. FEAR) the sound was terribly distorted after a while with unbearable loud mechanic buzzing. I had a serious issue in Oblivion as it was rebooting my computer when I was loading a game and it took me a while until I realized that the x64 drivers are causing it. I got rid of them and installed reference drivers I bought on CD with the card and everything was fine. Now Bioshock came out. Overall the EAX works good in it, but I have some serious crackling. I tried to lower the sound channels/streams values in INI, but it didn't remove crackling. So I though I would update drivers again. Indeed, Creative has released unified drivers for XP and Vista last July. I installed them, launched Bioshock with EAX ON, loaded a game and ... AARGH, my ears! The sound was like zapping loudly and rapidly, a real acoustic horror. This means I have serious EAX issues with all newer drivers than the reference ones on CD, but even with the new ones I have crackling in Bioshock anyway, with addition of the audio distortion. I have tried to turn off EAX and use CMMS3D instead, with Reverb which doesn't seem to cause any problems in BS. The sound was deep and rich, except that the crackling and stuttering is still there!?No flawless sound for me. Is my Soundblaster physically borked or something... =(?

Well, I know that with SE, EAX processing is left for the CPU. You think this would be the source of problem?
I have no option to select from software or hardware mode in games' audio menu, devs normally don't do add that option to audio menus (at least I never seen it in any game yet). In games I can normally only select whether I want EAX or not, or just like in case of BioShock, whether I want to turn Reverb on or off, and it would be left for the drivers to call the CPU to process EAX.Message Edited by RogueKeeper on 0-6-200707:5 AM

I just did a full OS reinstall (I was overdue on it, and having this problem crop up only gave me another reason to get it done). I ran all the utilities off the driver disk that came with the card, and then used the creative auto-update feature to download all the latest drivers. Conflict with recent windows update, perhaps?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel

I just built a new custom machine and I want to use my audigy 2 plantium. My new case is black and the front panel is white. Can I just purchase a new front panel that is black? Or can I just change the white face plate? It looks like the white face plate just clips on. There is nothing wrong with the device other than its an eye sore. I looked on creative's website and could not find anything about replacement panels. I really do not want to buy a new X-Fi Platinum and spend $99 bucks on a backup computer, as I already have a X-Fi in my main system.
    Thanks for the help.

Actually I'm having the same problem too here.
Did all the troubleshooting I could the only thing left is to test the AD_EXT cable.
Anyone able to give some advise on this?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Connecti

I recently began recording my band in our home studio. My mixing board is a Midas Venice 240 which has two balanced XLR outputs from the master bus. I am wondering what method I may use to connect this output to the /4" stereo input on the front panel of the Audigy 2 Platinum. If I just purchase a Y-adapter to combine the two channels into one XLR and then convert it to /4" TRS jack will both channels be preserved? Are there any sound quality issues that arise from this method of connection? I was hoping to get answers to these questions before wasting money buying unnecessary adapters.
    Thanks

The BEST way to do this is to go to radio shack and buy two (yes 2) of their?XLR to /4" Impedence Matching Transformers, AND?one (yes )?dual /4" female TS (tip-sleeve) to single /4" male TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) "Y" cable. Unless your mixer also has /4" main outs as well as the XLR... then you can just use the Y cable and skip the transformers. Or you can use a /8" Y cable with the transformers (and stereo /4 to stereo /8 adapter) and go into the card's line in jack on the actual card. Which is how I did it for a year or more untill i got a firewire recording interface (and it worked darn good too with my Soundcraft mixer and some good microphones). Either way,?you need the transformers for optimal results. The reason is the mixer's output impedence and level doesnt match that of the soundcard's input... mixer will likely overdri've the card, or the signal will sound weak or noisy.. The transformers?are cheap and are darn handy for loads of recording functions, and will provide the Audigy with exactly the type of signal it needs, properly transformed from the mixer. If you do this, you can record ALL of the mixer channels IN STEREO with all the panning, effects, and levels preserved. If you have multitracking software like Cubase or similar, you can even record an individual instrument (or even 2 at once, one panned left, one right... each assigned its own track in your software), come back on a new track (or pair of tracks), and record a different instrumet (or 2) and build a multitrack recording one performance at a time. PS:? you CANNOT just hardwire the mixer outputs and combine them into a single channel. A mixer is needed to properly combine?signals. Don't do it
!!! Have fun... and rock on.PSS:? make sure your overall cable is as short as possible. If you must run it for more than 6 feet then run it in XLR mode and convert it very close to the computer. The non XLR section of cable is an antenna for noise. The XLR section will be shielded against noise. Also, the transformers are kinda heavy so do not plug them into somthing and allow them to hang in the plug becasue the hanging weight will ruin your jack. Its best to run cables to the transformers, allowing them to lay on the floor... in a safe place where they wont get stomped on.

  • Can Audigy 2 Platinum front panel connect to X-fi?

    Hi,
I'm about to build a new i7?system and am debating buying an X-Fi Titanium (non-fatality)?to replace my Audigy 2 Platinum. Is it possible to connect the front dri've bay from the platinum to the X-Fi card? If not, I'm wondering if it is worth the switch. I'm not keen on paying any more than the price of the standard titanium card, so am not looking at the pro, etc.
    I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

Oh well, it is already ordered. It is rather absurd in this day and age that Ceati've charges 00 plus dollars premium?for such simple functionaility. Even M-Audio seems to provide better connectivity solutions on its low end interfaces. I have one of those. Guess I can just get an RCA to /4 inch or XLR adaper.
Still looking forward to the X-fi, though,

  • Audigy 2 and front panel au

    Hi all,
I have a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (SB0240) I plan to put in my new computer setup, which is going into an Antec P60 case. The new case has front panel audio connectors for both speakers and microphone. The connector is compatible with the Intel specs. Is there a way I can connect my Audigy 2 to this? My mainboard's SoundStorm 2 audio has this connector, but I am unsure if I can do this with an Audigy 2 card.Message Edited by dterborg on --2004 2:36 AM
