  • HP DC5700 P5BW-BTX Motherboard - front panel header pinout

    Greetings all ...
I have been searching everywhere for the front panel header pinout of the P5BW-BTX Motherboard that is in the HP DC5700.
Does anyone have this? It is unfortunately omitted from all the hardware and technical manuals.
    Thanks in advance

OK: for future reference BeatGr et al, here is the pinout for the front panel header connector on the HP P5BW-BTX motherboard:
LED HDD  1 10  LED PWR
LED HDD  2 11  LED PWR
    NC       3 12  SWI PWR
    NC       4 13  SWI PWR
    NC       5 14  NC
    NC       6 15  NC
    ->18     7 16  NO PIN
    NC       8 17  NC
    NC       9 18  ->7  (pins 7 and 18 are permanently shorted)
I am not sure of the significance of the shorted pins 7 and 18 - maybe someone else knows.

    That's what I did.
It works fine except for one thing.
I can't use Option-boot. My mouse clicks don't get recognized correctly when I try to select a boot drive.
I'm pretty sure it's the hub. It has an NEC chipset according to ASP.

  • Front Panel Header for SB073X ser

Right hello there I'm new to these forums but no stranger to them. Anyway i wanted to connect my mic to the comp but as i looked at the manual i really don't know which one it is. Anyone mind giving me a hand?

o never mind i found the problem lol!

  • Using Front Panel Audio with Fatality Professional

I have a query regarding connections on the Titanium Fatality PCIe.
I have an XFi XtremeMusic PCI card and am considering replacing it with the Titanium Fatality XFi card. A couple of reasons, I like the shrouded enclosure, I like the little XFi LED logo, I want to move away from PCI cards in my system.
But one of the main reasons is to allow me to connect my Intel HD Audio connector to the card so I can use the Headphone/Mic socket on my case. So if anyone has these cards can they confirm that they have an Intel HD Audio connector on them. If so does connecting the headphone to the case socket mute the speakers?
    Cheers

Well, I don't personally have one, but I was under the impression that every X-Fi had one. I know my X-Fi Fatal1ty (original PCI version) included it, and my Recon3D definitely does.
Plus if you check their shop website for the Titanium Fatal1ty Professional than the specs page lists a 2x 5-pin connector for "Intel HD Audio Compatible Front Panel Header" so it most likely does.
I would assume it would mute the speakers only if your case is fully Azalia compliant. By that, I mean the standard (as dictated by Intel) involves the use of two normally-open switches - one each on the headphone and microphone jack - which are closed as a result of plugging something into them. Some cases have these jacks which means it can detect when you plug something in and respond accordingly, but others use cheaper (we're talking differences in cents - not exactly substantial savings, but when you do it thousands of times over it adds up) switchless jacks and simply report them as always plugged in.
Just remember to set up the X-Fi panels to mute the speakers when you plug headphones in, as well as switch the output to headphone mode. You can actually set those two options separately on X-Fis.

  • LEDs on front panel

Employed my Vista Pavilion for several years without incident until last night when I noticed the top "on/off" button which usually glows a light blue was unlit.   I originally assumed a power glitch, so I just restarted the machine to note the following:
Fans come on and the power supply seems OK, but the system did not boot.   The screen was just black with no characters or image/background.  In fact, the screen's power saving mode soon engaged indicating the video card was not sending a signal.  Never get to the BIOS screens.
Now here is what I think may be significant:  the green LED and blue LED in the front console were on continuously.
Sometimes, hardware manufacturers provide diagnostic information by way of the lights (e.g., washing machines).   In other words, turning on LEDs can provide state information.   Is this true with HP hardware?
Some more clues which tell you what is not the problem.  I happened to have a new power supply handy, so I traded it out with the same results.   In normal operation, the green LED indicates disk activity, so I just removed the disk entirely to see if the green light would go out.   Nope, still on steady.   The blue LED typically implies the WiFi operation but I rather doubt at this pre-boot state the WiFi would be working.
I traced the power button line (two grey wires) to a half-sized board in the rear.  No breaks in the wire or bad connections.
    Any ideas?

Don't understand this reference to a half-height board.
The Front Panel Header (9-pin, 2x5) on the motherboard is where those front panel LEDs and buttons are terminated.
EXAMINE Pictorial in the Internet link to motherboard (above).
HOWEVER, some HP Desktop models have a front LED to show the user of LAN or Wi-Fi connections.
That wire would connect to the network card or motherboard via a different connector.
Some Media PCs of this era (2008) had Infared connections (option) for remote control of TV tuner option card.
LEDs do not last forever (have a long, but finite life) and can fail due to DC over-voltage or surge conditions (environmental, component failure).
In addition, this Desktop PC is now 7 years old .... a long-life for any desktop.
IF the motherboard has failed (component failure, such as capacitors), then replacement may be best advice.

  • Front Panel Audio Issues on both Z97 and X99

    Hello,
I am an owner of a Z97 PC Mate and a X99s SLI Plus Mobo.
On both of these mobos, with the latest realtek drivers I cannot get front panel audio working.
I have also tried the MSI drivers for each mobo from the product pages.
I have "Disable front panel jack detection" enabled on both. If I disable this, it shows the jacks not being utilized.
The realtek hd manager shows that both the front panel headphone and mic jack are being utiliized, even with nothing is plugged in and if I have the front panel header disconnected from the mobo. On each model I made sure that HD Audio is enabled in the UEFI.
I feel that since I am having the issue on two seperate products that there is a similar issue between each that I cannot figure out. I do not have this issue on my ASUS Z77 Sabertooth.

    Hi
What is the case are you using?
Also are you sure you plug the front audio properly? Or if there are no bent/missing pins? I am on my 3rd MSI board (I switch a lot :D ) but all worked fine with my case.
Try using audio while either board is running on non conductive surface (e.g. wooden table or motherboard box). Might be something shortening the board.
I've tried both boards in all 3 cases I own.

  • K8NGM2-FID - connecting of front panel audio (AC'97)

    Hello,
I have a K8NGM2-FID based pc running XP Prof. I have a Chieftec LCX-01B-B-SL case with front panel audio. This panel is compatible with AC'97 standard. PIN Assigment of the internal Frontpanel connectors for Audio is below described:
I red in manual of my mobo:
"The JAUD1 front panel audio connector allows you to connect to the front panel audio and is compliant with Intel® Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide."
I red Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide (downloaded from intel site) and:
    "2.3.3 Audio Design Considerations
Front panel audio design in conjunction with motherboard audio header design is dependant upon the type of audio CODEC being used on the motherboard. In the past, AC97 Integrated Audio CODECs were prevalent. With the introduction of Intel High Definition Audio, many new motherboard designs are switching over to High Definition (HD) audio CODECs. Designersshould note that AC’97 and Intel High Definition Audio front panel motherboards and I/O cardsimplementations are different and may not be directly compatible or interchangeable
    CAUTION
It is strongly recommended that motherboard designers only use Intel® HD Audio analog front panel dongles with the Intel® HD Audio analog front panel header to insure that the jack detection and dynamic re-tasking capability is preserved. Passive AC’97 analog front panel dongles (ones which leave the 5V Analog pin-7 line unconnected on the dongle) may be used with the Intel® HD Audio analog front panel header. But note that the front panel jack detection and re-tasking functionality will be lost as the AC’97 jacks cannot support connection to the SENSE line. In addition, software must be aware that an AC’97 dongle is being used with an Intel® HD Audio analog header since the software might need to dedicate codec ports that are connected to the header to meet the product’s intended functionality.
    2.3.4.4 AC’97 Header Pin Jumpers
The rear panel audio output jacks are disabled when headphones are plugged in. If the front panel interface board is not connected to the front panel audio header, jumpers should be installed across header pin pairs 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 9-10. If these jumpers are not installed, the rear panel line out connector will be inoperative and microphone input pins 1 and 3 will be left floating, which could lead to elevated back panel microphone noise and cross talk.
    NOTE
Motherboards that have the foot print for a front panel header, but depopulate the front panel audio header must have 0 ohm resistors as options to connect the FP_OUT and FP_RETURN signals. These resistors must be installed when the header is depopulated to insure audio is routed
    to the back panel."
Can I connect this front panel audio to front Panel Audio Connector (JAUD1) of K8NGM2-FID (Realtek High Definition Audio)? Will it be work correctly?

No I don't think it will, I had the same problem with my Coolermaster Centurion case, the pin out configs are different. I just left it disconnected, and didn't worry about it

I will lay all the steps I did to try to get a sound or GOOD sound from both Amplitube 3 and Guitar Rig 4 ; I was able to get the sound a BIT fair from amplitube Fender ONCE (I also tried Hendrix, AMpeg,Metal,X-gear) – that was when I connected to Line2/Mic2 Front Creative panel – other than that I can NEVER EVER GET A SOUND from those software. Any help would really be appreciated.

  • No sound front panel audio with newest CMI 9880L driver

So basically I plugged in a headphone the other day on the front panel and noticed the audio jack randomly stopped working. They  worked for about 3 years and the last changes I've made was updating the CMI 9880L driver to the newest one on the MSI website for my mainboard( 915P combo), about a month ago. So I thought the problem was the new driver, I went back to the CD that came with the board and installed the audio drivers I had before, It also didnt work!. I went to the hardware manager and clicked on the ROLL BACK driver button and it installed a microsoft driver, this time the front audio jacks DID work, this means is not a hardware problem. What is going on with the new C-MEDIA driver? what should I do to restore sound to the front jacks?
ps. I messed around with the BIOS options(switching between Azalia and AC97) and nothing happened.

I am quite confused... would appreciate your help.
Well, so was I. A good explanation can be found at
    http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-015851.htm
The point is, that the same output can be used either for AC-97 front panel audio (what you have on your chassis) or for High Definition Audio (which I've never seen). The board seems to differentiate between these two by means of the PIN #4 (Presence), which you just leave disconnected in your case.
Microphone should use PINs 1, 2 and 3:
    1 - Mic In, 2 - Ground, 3 - Mic Power
Audio output should use PINs 5, 6, 9 and 10:
    5 - R-Out, 6 - R-RET, 9 - L-Out, 10 - L-RET.
After you'll have connected the PINs to the audio connectors, do not forget to turn off the jack detection in the "Realtek HD Audio Manager" as I described before.

  • Front Panel connector for JAUD1 on K9A2 Platinum mobo

I bought some headphones for my computer and they work well when plugged into the line out and mic on the back. It's a pain unplugging my speakers in the back and plugging in the headphones, then switching back when I want my speakers again.
I noticed there is an internal JAUD1 connector which suggests that I can attach a front panel audio device to it. Where can I get such a device and what is it called ( I can look on New Egg if I know what to look for ) ? Does MSI sell one ? Does it attach in front into one of my drive bays ( I have lots of them in a Lian Li case ) ? If I have the device attached and plug my headphones into it, can I listen to audio through my headphones without having to unplug my speakers ?

My case is about 10 years old I believe. It is a Lian Li PC-70USB Full Tower ATX Case and it still is excellent. But it did not come with a front panel audio connector. Is it possible to buy one anywhere which can fit into a drive bay and which connects to the JAUD1 on the K9A2 ? I will search New Egg for "front panel audio connector", and I will ask Lian Li if perhaps they have one for older cases.
You can buy a new soundcard that comes with some front panel bay too ,though is much more expensive than a simple new case.
If you managed 10 years without a front jack why would you want it now ?!
Buy some USB headshones ,if there is a front USB connector ,maybe you get even better sound quality.
The sound on the Platnium is not so great anyway ,i ve turned it off in the first 2 months of usage to use either X-FI either D1 which are much better sound wise.

  • Any 5.1 Soundcard with Front Panel working under Win 7 64?

Since i'm finally fed up with my X-Fi Platinum not working in Win7 64 i would like to buy something else.
Sadly Creative seems to be the only firm producing soundcards that can have a simultanious stereo output via the front panel while having he 5.1 setup connected at the back.
So as much as i would like to stick it to Creative. But do they have anything with a frontpanel like the Titanium but working under Win7 64?

    Hi,
What driver version are you using now? The one that's on the install CD that's included with the soundcard or the latest driver that's available via Creative Labs download service? Provide more info, otherwise no-one can help you. Anyway, the X-fi Platinum (including the Platinum drive bay) should work in Windows 7 x86 and x64.
Try downloading and installing Daniel_K unofficial driver packs for the X-fi and see which one works the best for you.
Daniel_K unofficial driver pack SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 2.5 (10/25/2011)

Daniel_K unofficial driver pack SB X-Fi Series AuzenWDM Pack 1.8 (10/25/2011)
Uninstall the old X-fi drivers first and then use "Driver Sweeper" in Windows Safe mode to wipe X-fi drivers that are still left in the Windows OS. Make sure you create a restore point in Windows 7 first, so you can roll-back if something goes wrong.
    Good luck!

  • Hp p6367c front panel usb ports: how do I access these?

There is a button in front along the side that I assume is supposed to open the expansion bay and provide access to front panel usb ports, but nothing happens when I press this button.

Please look the upgrade and service manual page 13. You will notice the DVD drive, the empty 2nd CD/DVD bay, maybe the pocket drive (if so equipped). Below that is the mystery USB ports, and audio ports.
The panel likely has a small tab, and the access panel flips up, or slides up/down. Without knowing the exact face plate design, it's difficult to know. But if you look at the manual, the mystery will be exposed.
