X-fi I/O drive upgrade kit and X-fi elite

Will the dri've unit work with the X-fi Elite Pro? I see from the product descriptions it isn't supposed to work but since it uses the same connector I don't see any reason that it wouldn't work.
Why would I want to use the inferior dri've bay unit's? Because then I have a convenient place to put the external module. I do very much want a headphone and mic connector on the front of my computer and I also very much want the higher quality DACs of the X-fi pro.

Ben,
I realise you're frustrated and trying to get the product working, but replying in completely unrelated threads will not help. Please keep it in relevant threads only.

  • X-Fi I/O Drive Upgrade Kit and the Headphone Out j

I would?need an extra analog audio out for my new HDTV since I don't have an HDMI-out on my PC and the audio out's on my soundcard are reserved for 7. speakers. I thought the X-Fi I/O Dri've Upgrade Kit might be my solutions since it has an extra headphone out. I have an X-Fi XtremeMusic card and my new telly has L/R-RCA audio ins.
My question is does connectin headphone jack to the X-Fi I/O Dri've mute all other sounds? I would like to be able to use both my S750 speakers connected to the PC and the HDTV speakers connected to the X-Fi I/O Dri've's Headphone?Out?at the same time.
And one extra?question:?Do the headphone out on the I/O dri've introduce dedicated left/rigt channels including all the sound information from the source file being played, or just the left/right channel information as in 7. mode when the soundspectrum is divided between all the eight speakers and when the front left/right channels do not contain all the information? It's a bit tricky to try put into words what I mean, but I hope you can understand.
Thanks for any and all replies!

You can enable/disable the muting on jack input detection.
As for the output, I think it outputs the front left and right, so you would need to switch to headphone mode in order for it to be stereo only. However, the dri've also has digital out and from what I understand, that only outputs in stereo unless it's using a surround sound source such as a DVD, but I could be wrong.

  • Solid State Drive Upgrade Kit v300a with Windows 8.1 on Envy laptop

I am trying to install the Solid State Drive Upgrade Kit V300a in my new HP Envy with Windows 8.1. This upgrade was listed as an option for this model  and was bought with the machine.
The doc lists OS supported, but Windows 8 is not in the list. Is Windows 8 supported?
The included disk labled "Arconis" includes ATIHO user guide pdfs and an HP-Drive-Install-Guide-1.15.13-327pm pdf. The install guide mentions using Arconis. The Arconis user guide says to run "setup" to install Acronis but there is no setup file on the disk. I have chosen the setting to display hidden files and there is nothing on the disk but pdfs. The v300a box claims that it includes Acronis Cloning Software.
How do I install this HP upgrade on my new HP laptop?

  • HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit and MacBook

    Hi,
I've bought the HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit to connect my printer at the wireless network. That printer is HP Color Laserjet CM1312 MFP. I've set the a static IP on the router settings and for the Windows PC, that are in my wireless network at my home, everything works well.
The problem is about the connection with the MacBook (10.6.8) because there aren't some driver or solution to obtain the access to that printer from a user that isn't on a windows.
Do you have some ideas to help me?
    Best,

  • Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit and Laserjet P1006

    Hello,
I am just wondering if the HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit is compatible with the HP Laserjet P1006 printer. It is not listed on the compatibility list but I have read several accounts of people who claim to be using them together. I have also read posts that state they are not compatible. Either way, they will not work together for me so I am trying to figure out if it is something I am doing wrong in the setup or if the two pieces of hardware are simply not compatible. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Lauren
P.S. I am using a Dell XPS M1310 Notebook with Vista.

    Hi,
    I guess that would help:

  • X-Fi I/O Drive upgrade kit software not install

Hello , I have installed my new X-Fi I/O Dri've upgrade kit hardware today , but I am having some trouble with the software installation.
This is the message I receive after the installation has initiated ->
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please insure that your product is properly installed before running this setup program.Setup will now exit."
After that the software seems to install but I'm not sure it installs correctly. I can't see anything different in the usual X-fi software menu , and the supplied I/O dri've remote control does nothing.
My soundcard is an X-fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro Series.
    Thanks.

The volume control and the 3 buttons do not work (buttons do not light up).

  • XtremeGamer Pro + Drive Upgrade Kit = No sound after reboot (please he

First, lemmie say I saw the sticky at the top of this page for digital i/o. After reading the thread, the fix doesn't work for vista and I see that it says you just have to enable digial i/o from the control panel. Since, I have already tried this ... I am asking for help.
Bought an X-Fi XtremeGamer card about 6 months ago and everything has been working fine. However, I recently converted the PC it was in into an HTPC. Since I have a surround system, it seemed my only option to go with a dri've upgrade kit or have to rebuy a new sound card (wanted 7. surround via coaxial/optical).
Long story short, everything installed fine yet everytime I reboot the computer I lose sound. If I go into the diagnostic software included by Creative, all the test come back fine but at the last test where it actually test the speakers I get no sound. Selecting to restore defaults brings the sound back just fine. No other "restore default" command actually restores sound accept the one in diagnostics.
If I reboot immediately after running the diagnostics/getting my sound back, I still come back into Windows without sound. So, it isn't anything I am tweaking that is causing sound loss.
Currently my PC specs are as follows:
    Windows Vista
    XteremeGamer Pro
    Dri've Upgrade Kit
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz (OC - 3.3GHz)
    Crucial Ballistix 2GB Ram
    GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
eVGA NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
    Audio system:
SLS Audio Q-Line Gold 5. Surround
Connecting using coaxial right now, have not tried optical to see if that solves the problem though. Going to do that when I get home tonight.
I completely uninstalled all the creative software and reinstalled using the CD that came with the dri've upgrade kit. I also ran the auto update and it installed the latest drivers.
Dunno if it matters but it sees my card, with the upgrade kit, as a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion Series.
    Any suggestions/help?
    Thanks

Called Creative support and they were just as helpful as these boards. To all who read this, stay away from Creative till they get their act back together. Leading in computer audio my butt, more like leading in customer dissatisfaction and poor support.

  • I/O drive upgrade kit - X-fi xtreme gamer

Hello I bought a?set of headphones but I need to get something practical to make life easyer?to connect them when I want to use them. I thought of the I/O upgrade kit but as far as I can tell there isn't one compatible for my Soundcard. I have this one > http://www.soundblaster.com/products...8&product=5854?Thanks.

    Hi,
I'm wondering if it's possible to use an X-Fi I/O dri've from another SKU X-Fi with a Fatalty Xtreme Gamer?
I've plugged it in and it's powered, output digital audio (the light is on, at least) and it detects the headphones being plugged in properly but no sound is coming out.
    Am I doing something wrong?

If Creative doesn't want to help you, take your money and spend it someplace else. If you have a Radio Shack store in your town, take the old cable(s) there, and ask them if they can repair them for you. Or, if you don't have the originals any more, take your hardware and/or instuctions into the store and ask them if they can make some custom cables with the info you've got on hand. My local Radio Shack has made custom cables for the CNC lathes where I work; They've made power cables for assorted electronics that I'd lost the power cables for; They've made replacement automoti've wire segments for some of my auto projects, using some really terrible drawings that I made.
    Hope that hel

  • Hard Drive Upgrade Pain and Warning.

    Well,
I have recently upgraded my HD to a Western Digital 500GB (WD5000BEVT) and although it is running ok I have noticed a few issues:
-Very brief lag (1 - 2secs) on most things. For example, right click on an item to bring up a menu will result in spinning wheel for a few moments and then the menu.
-At time of lag/freeze a noticeable sound of the HD spinning up before the action will be performed
Computer boot up and shutdown time seems seem longer than with pervious "official" HD
-I also noticed when I was transferring all my music (43GB) onto the computer the system's responsiveness while using applications was much faster.
Anyone who has had these issues and solved it is more than welcome to comment (although not with the Hdapm solution as 1: I have tried this and couldn't get it to work and 2: I would rather like a permanent fix that is not software dependant) and I though I would post to warn others there is a compatibility issue with this drive. I am trying to get in contact with WD but still waiting to hear back. I do not think this a faulty drive as many other people are having the same problem with other WD hard drives all from the Scorpio Blue/Black line.
Now after all this fuss I am thinking of replacing the HD with another different 500GB. I would like to know what the official apple 500GB 2.5 SATA drive is that they use in the Macbook Pro's but have not been able to find out via the internet and was wondering if anyone here has any info? Also do apple change the firmware of the drives they use to make them work better with Apple notebooks / OSX and is this why they have an apple logo on the drives? Finally is it possible to purchase the "official" drives anywhere and is it really worth doing this?
Sorry for the long rant and I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Regards,
    BTD

    I have a 15" MacBook Pro from 2007. Quick Specs: 2.2/2GB/10.5.8
I recently upgraded the 120 GB hard drive to the Western Digital 500GB (WD5000BEVT)
The drive appears to work fine, but there was a massive performance issue: lots of beachballs and lags in any task that required disk access. sequential read/write (copying big files) seemed to be ok. My system was very slow.
the problem was best described here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2292861
From a few other posts on this topic:
Reliable and rugged - WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD's SecurePark™ parks the
recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk >surface resulting in improved long term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non-operational shock tolerance.
Using drives with a built in equivalent of the MacBooks Sudden Motion Sensor can cause problems. You may want to try to disable the Sudden Motion Sensor in your MacBook and see if that helps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1934
    My Experience:
Disabling Sudden Motion Sensor, then resetting the PRAM (press command-option-P-R at startup) helped a huge amount. This is noticeable as a user, but also through XBench:
Before disabling sms: XBench score of 21.73. After disabling sms AND resetting PRAM: 119.88. I just did this a few hours ago, but I think that it fixed the problem.
hdapm seems to do nothing to help this problem, but there might be a different problem with 3rd party hard drives in newer MacBook Pros. There seems to be some confusion in Apple's message boards about this.

  • Hard Drive upgrade? and fan noise.

I have a 2008 MacBook 4,1 (Early 2008) MB404LL/A.  Im thinking about switching out the hard drive for a bigger one.  Would the 2.5" HGST 5400RPM 7mm HD be compatible?  Or would you guys recommond a different one?  Also, every now and then, my fan will blow pretty loud.  Any ideas on how to fix that?  Any tips would be appreciated.

Most 2.5" SATA drives should work with the machine; the drive that originally shipped with the machine was a 9.5mm so 7mm will fit.
Regarding the fan noise - your machine being 5 years old, there's probably lots of dust clogging the fins of the heatsink along with dried up, degraded thermal paste impeding thermal transfer, hence leading to high system temperatures and the fan working harder to dissipate heat.
Since you'll have the machine apart while replacing the drive, take the opportunity to remove the fans and blow out the heatsink fins with a can of compressed air.
If you're feeling up to it, you can remove the motherboard along with the heatsink assembly and replace the ancient factory paste with a fresh new coat - I suggest Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste.

Why can't I buy one of these in the UK?http://us.creative.com/products/prod...6&product=4659?Thanks for any help. nick

When you see prices marked on items in the states then that is without any tax.Depending on where you are in the states the tax you pay can be different.State, county and whatever other tax is payable. Also you have NO way of getting a replacement if something goes wrong with it. Good that you buy/import/get shipped to the UK from the states cannot be replaced outside of the states.

  • Will Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit support All-in-one Printer F4235?

I have not found this information in the forum, I hope someone will be able to help me.
I purchased a Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit and I'm not sure if it is compatible with my printer. I have an all-in-one F4235. The list on the box does not list this model but it says also works with most other HP printers and all-in-ones. I have checked the website and it lists the same printer so I don't know if the list just has not be updated.
I don't want to open the package until I know if it is compatible.

Yes, the HP Deskjet F4235 (F4200 series) All-in-one supports the Wireless Upgrade kit.
