X-Fi Music Extreme force me to do a RAM utilisation limitation to 2 GB

Dear all,
I'm writing this thread as a last chance before throwing out my Creative board.
I left a working environment in Win XP for Win 7 64-bit just to be able to use more RAM but that did turn out as a bad decision.
The only way for me to get my X-Fi Music Extreme to work is to limit the usage of RAM to 4096 in boot.ini, (and 2 GB is then allocated automatically towards my graphic boards), which leave me with 2 GB RAM - which is exactly what I had from the start.
Please, any advice is appreciated.

X-Fi platinum detected as X-Fi music extreme

Installed Vista x64 and installed the vista drivers from the dvd i ordered from creative. When i ran the updater it detects my X-FI platinum as a music Extreme. Device manager just says "Creative X-FI SB". This never happend in Vista X32. Anyone got any tips?
And does it make any difference?

Update the BIOS for the motherboard, if you can, in case that resolves it. When the card isn't recognised correctly, what do you see in Device Manager?

The power should be connected to the front panel, otherwise you won't be able to use the front panel. The card itself does not need to be connected to a seperate power connector.

Why does bouncing lower the audio level of my music extremely?

Whenever I bounce music from the timeline, the result of the audio file is extremely lowered. I tried taking 'normalize' off but that just distorts the file. Help!

there's a lot of variables in this, so before we determine WHY the volume is being lowered, let's first be absolutely sure the volume is being lowered, and not something else.
do this...
Bounce a mix from a Logic session, and re-import this stereo file back onto a stereo track, with the volume set to unity gain (zero).
Solo this track, and hit PLAY
Assuming you haven't changed the volume of your playback speakers, is this bounced file playing back at the same volume as the song session file?

Does anyone an issue with the new music app force closing?

So I got the new iPhone 4S and i'm trying to go through all of my albums by using Cover Flow. And then probably around half way through the screen lags and then force closes the app taking me back to the home screen. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.

when i use office it causes a very high cpu usage even when its in idle mode.
i am unable to work with it, because its extremely slow.

I am able to work OK with office, I'm using the 'old version' Microsoft Office v.X, not much details in the About Box, just listed as MSoft Word/Excel/etc for Mac service release 1.
I get the occasional crash, and I have seen Word in particular use 90% of a single core and amazingly large virtual memory usage, gigabytes sometimes, but eventually the document gets printed.
It shows how useful the dual core (or quad) cpu approach is!
One cpu for Word to print, and one cpu to run the rest of my applications/life!
I still use this old office rather than re-booting into Window§ for whatever is the latest version of office.
Doing some playing with a similar one page document in Office v.X and Pages 2.01, I get Word using about 25% of a core , Pages using 5%, - whilst editing; Intel native Pages has 20% of a core and 80MB ram 480 virtual whilst printing, Word has about 100% of a core and 65MB ram 650 virtual whilst printing, but it is a powerPC code so Rosetta is in there somewhere.
check Activity Monitor or other apps/widgets for some parasitic processes? have fun!

Extremely high memory usage on ideapad u310

Hi all,
I've got a problem with my ideapad u310 touch running windows 8.1. When doing completely nothing (just staring at the desktop with no programs running) my laptop uses ~55% of ram. I find this extremely high, when i open a few chrome tabs and listen to some music, maybe open a powerpoint it even rises to 80+%. My Medion erazer laptop(also running 8.1) with 4GB ram uses ~65% with the same usage and ~35% while doing nothing. I deleted almost every lenovo programm except energy management and OneKey recovery and i disabled as much programs as possible on startup but there's almost no difference.
Now, I don't really care about the high percentages but what I do care about is that it gets extremely slow when 80% of the ram is in use. Does anybody know what i can do about this? I already tried the refresh windows option but that didn't help. Or am I just stuck with a device that has very very very poor multitasking performance.

Opening Task Manager will show you which application utilizes the RAM.
Also Doing a clean boot will help on freeing up RAM

Manually manage music on two computers with iPhone 4s

For the past few months I have had not issues manually managing my ipod touch on two computers. This is a necessesity as I own a mac laptop but like to listen to audiobooks from my local library which will only download to a PC. With my iPod touch all I had to do was make sure that the manually manage music was turned on and I could put the music from my computer on the device than go and use my friend's pc to put on the audiobooks (WMA Overdrive format). Since getting the iPhone 4S it has been a nightmare to get the same result. I even went so far as to plug it into each computer completely when nothing was on the iphone and turn on manually manage music in each, than put all my music from the mac on it. Only to find that when I opened up itunes in the PC manually manage music was unchecked again. The only way to turn it back on is to sync and erase all my music, thus forcing me to carry around both an ipod and an Iphone, which is more than a little annoying.
Please help!

Unlike the iPods, including the iPod Touch, iPhones will synch with ONLY ONE iTunes library at a time. You will NOT be able to manually manage music from 2 computers with your iPhone.

Live! Drive II and X-Fi Music Extr

I have connected my old SB Li've! Dri've II to my new SB X-Fi Music Extreme sound card.
I connect headphones to the headphone jack but do not get any sound, nor can i hear anything inpit via microphone. (Sound knobs maxed out too)
I can hear hiss on the headphones so i know i have power, but just no sound.
It all performs the same tests from the cards back plate fine.
Has anyone tried using their old Li've Dri've II with this card and got it working?

I know, LOL. I learned my lesson with with my A2. Bought the one without the dri've because was told could buy dri've deal later. Only place saw it for sale was on CL UK store and for an outrageous price compared to just buying the card with it included to start with. I went with the FPS this time and really do find the front bay deal handy. Now then, if you can confirm the regular A2 dri've will work, let me know. I actually bought one from someone who didnt use theirs to use with my A2 but upgraded to X-FI before I got around to installing it. Like I said tho you need to find out if it will even work and then if it will maybe I can help you out. Think the only thing I didnt get from him was the firewire cable if you wanted that. Anyway all moot till you find out anyway

Re: Xfi extreme audio SB0790 Windows Home Premium0 As I stated in my first post I did my due diligence and after installing beta drivers for the SB0790 then installing the recommended driver dated July 09 it still does not recognize the device (7 Home Premium). I have gone through every forum google points me to we are not alone, taking advice I've installed then deleted these drivers about 0 to 20 times I've tried compatibility mode "Vista" "Vista SP", "Vista SP2", "XP", and so forth with no luck also running the driver as admin. Every time I update driver in 7 it tells me I have the current driver yet I have a red X and no sound.
I can't believe that Creative does not have working drivers for the final release of 7 knowing that they had 6 to 8 months to prepare. Really poor on their part.

5.1 streamed music from iTunes

Ok, might be a stupid question, but I cant find a answer.
If I stream my music from iTunes, to my AppleTV, which will be hooked up to my amp via HDMI, will the music play through all 5 speakers?
I understand that the music will be recorded in stereo, so will therefore never be true 5.1, but i just want sound from all speakers?
My xbox 360 cannot do this, and i figure its gonna be easier to find my music on my iphone with the remote app then using a controller to scroll.

no. music is stereo so will only come from the left and right speakers.

why would you want to distort the music to force it to come from all speakers when is stereo and designed to 2 channels.

ITunes clears "My Music" Registry value

I have just tried to install iTunes (7.0.2.16) on my Wife's 2 PC's (Desktop w/XP Pro & Laptop w/XP Home both running Avast Anti Virus).
When I try to run iTunes, and I agree to the SLA then I get the "The folder iTunes cannot be created ....." dialog.
I then go to regedit, and find that the registry key which tells Windows where the folder "My Music" is has been cleared, I re-enter the data and restart windows, checking with regedit that the key is still intact, then attempt to start iTunes again, and get the error again, then recheck the registry only to find that the key has been cleared again.
This happens on both PC's & also with an earlier (6, point not known) version of iTunes.
Can anybody help me?

It appears that there are two registry keys which store the location of Windows Special folders:
HKEYCURRENTUSER/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Shell Folders
and
HKEYCURRENTUSER/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders
I was only editing the first key.
The situation arose when I used the Microsoft XP Powertoy TweakUI to change the special folder location to a Ximeta NetDisk external drive, but have since moved it to a dedicated FreeBSD based file server, but the most recent version of TweakUI has removed the option to change the "My Music" location forcing me to enter the registry myself.

How do you transfer specific music from your computer to your ipod touch?

Ive read threads of how to do this and so far none have helped...Im trying to add specific songs that are on my computer to my ipod touch (4th gen). I do not want the songs on my ipod transfered to my computer.
When I go to the ipod device in the menu collum of itunes on my computer, & then pick the "music" tab in the menu bar I get very limited options that I can choose.
it says
1. sync music .... If I try this selection a warning msg pops up " all existing content on ipod will be removed & replaced with songs & playlist from your itunes library" I don't want this! I just want songs added to ipod
2. below this selection are 4 options inside a gray box. These selections are not available for reasons unknown to me. They read
a. Entire music library
   b. Selected playlist, artist, albums, and genres
   c. include music videos
   d. include voice memos
selections a, c, & d have tick marks by them
As far as I have found up to this point this is somwhere close to the vicinity that I want to be in order to get done what I want to get done. I don't know... perhaps I'm coming at this from the wrong angle. Maybe I should use the ipod , and come at itunes from its interface?...

I have not sync with another computer. Brand new Ipod touch from christmas. same computer. I have however conected it to this computer before & because I was ingnorant it synced automatically with this same computer. I was ****** because it messed everything up. So I erased my ipod completlely and started over. I also un-installed itunes and started over with its as well. I then put only music that I wanted on my ipod onto my computer in itunes.
Now I cant figure out how to get that specific music on my ipod... this is all very maddening!!.. I feel like throughing both computer and ipod out my 2 story bedroom window

Extreme hard disk formats

Is exFat supported for the disk sharing in the airport extreme,
I want to keep the disk format in a readable form for windows and mac, this a external hard drive that i carry with me sometimes for file sharing.
I know Fat32 is supported, But this limits me to copying files to it that can be no larger than 4gig. I don't know if any of the mac formats will be supported in windows.
Basically the question is, what format can i use for disc sharing that is support on both mac and windows when plugged in directly via usb and the airport extreme can support. Also without file size limitations?

No, exFAT (aka FAT64) formatted HDDs are not supported by the AirPort when connected by USB for file sharing. As you are probably already aware, the AirPort File Server will only work with drives, formatted in: FAT16/FAT32 or HFS+. Note: Regardless of format, the AirPort will use both the SMB & AFP file sharing protocols to share out the drive to Windows, Linux, or OS X clients.
I want to keep the disk format in a readable form for windows and mac, this a external hard drive that i carry with me sometimes for file sharing.
The only option for this would be FAT32. However, the AirPort works best with HFS+ and you can mount HFS+ volumes on Windows with third-party solutions. One example is: Paragon Software's HFS for Windows

MacBook Pro Running EXTREMELY Slow (Information from EtreCheck attached). HELP!

Problem description:
I am having issues with my mac becoming extremely SLOW. I upgraded the RAM (Doubled it up) and it was working well for a while, but it’s now back to being extremely slow. I noticed the change when I upgraded to Mavericks. I’m still running Mavericks and haven’t upgraded to Yosemite yet.
What could be causing this to happen? SO slow and keep in mind I'm usually always multi-tasking when operating my laptop.
If you can offer any suggestions then please let me know!

You need to spend some time removing files you no longer need. I'd suggest you reboot & connect an external HD, then slowy start copying files off this Mac. You need to take care because the Mac can run out of memory & put you into a 'must reboot now' situation, don't forget to delete files once they are copied off the system. Reboot to keep the memory usage to a minimum.
You need at least 20GB free at all times to allow the Mac some breathing room for temporary files & virtual memory storage. More free space is better, especially on spinning disks.

drive space not adding up - deleted user?
Don't forget that certain apps have their own 'trash' so open iPhoto, iMovie or any other app that has it's own trash & check the built in trash is empty, otherwise the items in the trash will be taking up disk space.
I'd also consider removing any of the system modifications you do not use, like Blackberry's software, Citrix, Toast's extensions. Otherwise check that the installed versions are up to date & compatible with the OS. http://roaringapps.com can indicate if other users are happy with these apps on your OS.

en utilisant les nom de propriétés, vous pouvez modifier et jouer avec les paramètres des courbes (nom de courbes, couleur du tracé, épaisseur, style... ajout de curseur et sa position...). Sélectionner le terminal de graph XY, clic droit puis créer/propriétés.
