I'm running Vista 32 bit. when It's set to 5. the sound coming from the rear and sides is bad, distorted, I tried moving card to differant slot, reloaded drivers and new speakers. No change at all. The 2 center speakers always sound fine.
Has anyone heard of this problem or better yet how to fix it!

Sound Blaster X-Fi - Enabling Creative Multispeaker Surround (CMSS)

If you are listening to stereo content like MP3's or CD's and you would like the sound to be played over your surround sound speaker system, you can enable CMSS 3D on your X-Fi card. If you are playing computer games, the X-Fi's Virtual 3D via CMSS gives a highly realistic surround sound over headphones.
It is important to remember that if you do wish to play a 5. encoded file like Dolby or DTS soundtracks, you will need to turn CMSS off. Otherwise you might not receive each discreet channel.
Please select the mode: (More information about changing the Mode).

In Entertainment mode, select the 3D button.

  • T7700 only left and right speakers working

I bought my speakers awhile ago, and I had no problems. Though I couldn't get my rear and side speakers to work, I found out by changing the speaker settings in the control panel. Now, my rear and side speakers don't work unless I reinstall the drivers. I checked the speakers setting in the Creative Volume Control and it says its 7.1, though my side and rear still dont work, it also says its 7.1 in the control panel. I am tired of reinstalling my drivers just to get my speakers to work properly. I have checked all wiring and it seems okay. When I run the speaker test, I hear sounds from all speakers. Diagnostics are all good but I can't seem to find the problem. I've also tried reinstalling my sound card but it seems to do nothing. Also when I reinstall my drivers and it shows the "restart your computer" prompt and I click "restart computer" it will freeze and I will have to revert to shutting it down improperly, sometimes it will freeze and sometimes it won't, this maybe the problem. PLEASE I REALLY NEED HELP. Thanks in advance.

    Immortaltechniq,
I think you may have a conflict with your card and the system. I would suggest that you cleansweep the card out, and then move the card to a different PCI slot. Once there reinstall the card making sure that your Antivirus is disabled during the process. Here are instructions on how to cleansweep:

There doesnt seem to be any sound coming out of my center and side speakers. I have an sb live 5. sound card. Pls help.
    Thank you.
I have tried changing the setting the settings to 5.1 on my speaker creative panel and upmixing to 7.1 but no luck.

    hyper-dood,
Make sure you have enable CMSS in playcenter for the sound card. Next, check that the upmix function in the speaker volume control pod and set to 5.1->7.1 upmix.

  • Troubles with rear and center speakers (5

Hello. I just purchased a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Professional sound card and installed it. I have 5. surround speakers (Logitech X-540) and during the speaker connection wizard, I only hear front left and front right and it is coming through all of the channels. When it tests center and rear left/right, I hear nothing. I have been searching the knowledge base as well as this forum and I cannot seem to find a solution to this problem. I have my speakers all connected properly as per the connection wizard. The sound is coming through all channels when I play music in Winamp and it also sounds a little poor. I am using Windows XP SP2 and my specs are:
    AMD Athlon X2 4200+
    3GB DDR 400 RAM
    ATI Radeon HD3850
    Help is appreciated! Thank you.

Try adjusting the volumes for each channel. You can do this via "Control Panel", "Sounds and Audio Devices", "Speaker Volume...". You should see individual volume sliders for Left, Right, Channels 3-8. I had similar problem and found out that for some reason the channels 3-8 volumes were set to minimum. Good luck.

  • Macbook Pro only middle and sides illuminated

    Hey guys!
Hopefully this won't be as bad as it has seemed from a simple Google search.
So I have my backlight for my laptop on the highest setting and only the middle keys "67tyghbn" and the side keys and most of the numbers are lit correctly but keys such as "ersdfxcv" and "iopjkl;m,./" are lit very dimly.
Now, my brother was handing me some soda and my hand wasn't fully on it so he dropped a bit on my keyboard, but it wasn't on both sides of my keyboard, maybe even only the shift, enter and the arrow keys. The soda got nowhere near the other side of the keyboard which also decided to dim. I was wondering if this is the cause? Is there a way to fix it? Is this usual for a macbook pro's backlight to go dim in this fashion ?
I got my macbook pro in January of this year.

It's impossible to tell if the soda damaged it however if any got inside the machine it invalidated your warranty and you will have to pay for the repair out of pocket. You can try to do a SMC and PRAM reset however if those don't help I believe a repair is the only solution. You will need to take it to an AASP for an estimate though. Here are instructions for the resets:
    _SMC RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    • Release the power button.
    • Attach the computers power cable.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    _PRAM RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    • Release the keys.

  • Rear/side speakers not working on GigaWorks S750

I have a Creative GigaWorks S750 7. sound system and a motherboard which uses Realtek HD audio.
There are four colored jack ports on the back of the sub, which are labelled:
    Green: Front
    Pink: Center/subwoofer
    Black: Rear
    Grey: Side
There are six jack ports on my motherboard:
Yellow,Blue, Black, Green, Grey and Pink.
The cable that came with the sound system has four jacks on one end, and three on the other.
On the four-jack end, they are Green, Yellow, Black and Grey (so they match up perfectly to the sub, presuming the yellow jack goes into the pink jack port).
On the three-jack end, is Black, Yellow and Green
I have plugged the three-jack end's jacks into the Black, Yellow and Green jack ports on my motherboard.
Everything is now matching. I also have Windows and the Realtek HD Audio Manager set to 7.1.
The front left, front right, front center, sub and back right work fine. However, neither of the side speakers or back left work.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Kingmustard,
It's recommended to find out which colored audio jack is used for the front, rear, side & center/subwoofer for the Realtek HD audio. The motherboard manual should have this information. Depending on the configuration, you may need a 4 to 4 cable instead. Our default 7.1 connection setup with our Creative sound cards uses the supplied 3 to 4 cable.

  • Gigaworks S750 + Audigy1 - Only hear left channel in left and right speakers

Since last week I'm the proud owner of a gigaworks S750. Since my new computer went RMA I decided to hook it up on my old computer with an Audigy (SB Audigy E400) audio card.
The original Audigy drivers come with this test program that tests all channels saying "front left", "front right" etc etc through the respecti've speakers.
However, when running this test program I hear the "front left" message through both the front speakers, and the "rear left" message through both the side speakers.
The "front right" and "rear right" messages I don't hear.
I've been looking through the settings of the audigy and reading the manual of the Gigaworks set, but nothing turned up.
My old Philips 4.1 speakerset did not have this problem, so my guess is it's something with the gigaworks.
    Thanks

U sure the speakers are set to 7.1 ? BTW u need Audigy 2 ZS or Audigy 2 Platinum to make all your speakers make the correct sounds. BUY A NEW SOUNDCARD!!!
