X-FI platinum driver upd

Hi all,
just bought a X-FI platinum my first creative sound card, been getting the scratch, hiss, screech etc problem many of you have also been reporting so i updated the drivers.
Now everytime i try to use any X-FI installed app or the mode selector it pops up an error saying i dont have a X-FI sound card installed.
Only installed the driver update about 30mins ago and so far sound is working and no screech etc, although i have the above problem with the software.
I really cant say i'm too chuffed about it all as this does appear to be a software driver issue which creative should have allready resolved seeing as we are spending lots of our hard earned cash on these cards. CREATIVE LABS please sort this out soon, its no good having software working but not the card or the card working (so far 30mins an counting) but not the software.

Same thing happened to once. Just uninstall drivers, and reinstall again. Should resolve the issue with the app. But the sound anomolies will continue.

  • Audigy Platinum driv

Hi all, and a big hello from a beginner in this forum!
I'm going to download new drivers for my old Audigy Platinum (200), the file name is: sabx_webup_lb_2_08_0004.
My question is: does it works good?
One year ago I downloaded a driver from this site and my XP SP2 crashed!!
Does it worth, anyway? I have no problems with my sound card and I don't know if it is really necessary to update the driver...
Maybe anyone installed the new driver and had problems?
    Thank you.

  • HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) problem with tcp/ip port

    Hi,
We are facing, since few days, problems with HP UPD in windows 7. Let me explain.
For some reasons we need the auto update feature of HP UPD, but this feature does not works anymore.
We found that, when installing a printer, if we name the tcp/ip port with the dns name or ip the auto-update will work, but if we name the TCP/IP port with dummy text, the auto update feature won't work (can't connect to the printer). This is like the UPD
try to resolve the tcp/ip port name instead of tcp/ip port address.
This was working last month. We installed some windows updates on clients, and one of these updates screwed up the UPD. I have the list of installed updates but there are many, and if someone already had this problem and can help it would be nice. And if
nobody can help, maybe this message will put other poeple with the same problem on the way to solution.
We don't want to update the driver (too much printers involved, too much clients also)
Thx for reading and helping !

There are 4 downloadable mainboard driver zips at MSI for K8N Neo Platinum (not including BIOS a upgrade) -
    1. NVSA020.zip - SATA controller drivers
    2. NF3_CK8S.zip - Chipset drivers including:
    Ethernet NRM driver
    Network management tools
    GART driver
SMBus driver with updated uninstaller files

Are ALL these drivers from MSI to be loaded?
I think I read in some other posts where some of these drivers (?) cause problems and therefore default Win OS (or chipset manufacturer) drivers should be used instead. Is there a concensus (or list) of which drivers should or shouldn't be installed and the correct procedures and order for doing it?

    1. NVSA020.zip, these drivers come in a diskete with your mainboard as well but possibly on an earlier version. You will need these if you plan to use a SATA Raid/ or simply a SATA drive when installing your OS of choice. Please note that if you plan to use a single SATA drive use SATA 3 or 4. In this case the drivers are not necessary but rather optional.
    2. These are the nforce platform drivers. You can either use the ones off the msi site or the ones from nvidia's site. In any case i would suggest you replace the IDE driver package with the 2.5's -> http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_ide_4.15_win2KXP.html
    3. if you plan updating to a sp 1 or 2 versionof xp, you will probably not need these.
    4. ALC69.zip - > Here is the latest realtek drivers.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum driver corrupti

Before I get into the problem let me give some info on my system.
    Audigy 2 platinum
    Asus A7V333 mobo (revision A)
    Athlon 800+ proc
    Windows XP pro
Long story short the drivers seemed to have inexplicably bailed on me. I boot up two days ago and all games give errors that audio drivers are not detected. I get system sounds, but nothing else.
    dxdiag gives the following errors:
-Sound tests: DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)
-Music tests: DirectMusic test results: Failure at step 6 (Activating the IDirectMusicPort): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)
I ran the bundled diagnostic utility as well and recieved the following:
    Hardware detection: Pass
    Wave Driver: Fail
    MIDI Driver: Fail
    Mixer Driver: Fail
    DirectSound 3D Driver: Pass
    Registry: Pass
    Mixer Settings Check: Fail
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the retail CD. Same situation with the retail drivers. I also updated via the Creative software update and no change. (I really wish there was an up to date driver package instead of updates)
I did not make any recent hardware or software changes, and other than this problem, everything else with the system is fine.
Unless anyone has any suggestions, my next step is to uninstall the drivers again, as well as completely remove it from the registry. However I doubt this will help much. The last time I had an issue with these drivers (consistent .dll errors) nothing short of a full system reinstall fixed it.
    Any suggestions?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Drive help nee

i just installed my Audigy 2 Platinum card/dri've into my new system (WinXP), and cannot get the dri've to respond.
the card is fine, but there is no sound coming from the dri've. there is power, as the red light is on.
i have installed/uninstalled the AudioConsole driver set, and still nothing.
    any help?
    thanks much...

It may be possible to help if you are clear in advising what the problem is and what you are trying to do. In relation to the power button, it, when depressed, surpringly allows you to turn media source on or off. Have you taken the plastic liner off the battery?

  • 5.1 not working after driver upd

Ok, let me just inform you all of what the problem is, and how it came to be.
I bought GTA: SA yesterday, I have that small crackling sound every so often, not really annoying (Not really, but still slightly), but certain sounds are almost inaudiable (Which I found irritating). So, today I thought about updating my drivers, see if that would help. I tried to find out my version with little sucecss, then I went to: Contol Panel --> Sound and Audio Devices ---> Hardware ---> Creative SB Audigy 2VS (WDM) ---> Properties ---> Driver ---> Update Driver, selected Auto install, it found two, one said "Already installed" when I clicked on it, the other, looked the exact same, but it didn't say "Already installed", so I just installed that one, restarted, then on my 5. speakers, the subwoofer is no longer working, my centre speaker isn't working and neither is my right speaker.
I tested my speakers via the THX Setup Console, and I heard nothing from the centre (I cannot remember if it was that one alone at that time), so I got worried, and clicked "Roll Back Driver" and restarted.
After I restarted, I tested again, I'm not sure if it "Got worse" or was it already like that. I heard a sound coming from the subwoofer, when it got to my forward-right speaker which was really really strange. And nothing from the centre, or subwoofer. It seems to be acting like a 4 speaker system or something...
I wondered did the Roll Back work? So, I did it again, no change. Then I tried it again, and it said I couldn't Roll Back anymore. So I clicked "Update" and it's telling me it's up-to-date, no new drivers needed etc...
Now, I'm here, begging (Literally) for help.
I know the speakers are plugged in properly, I've had the computer since February and I have not messed with them since... Anytime today, which is when I noticed the difference. I checked was it set on 5. in Audio Devices etc... in Control Panel, and it was. Whenever I came accross any speaker "Selection" or whatnot, it was on 5.. So, that's why I'm thinking in the area of drivers (As I did update them and got the problem), or maybe some setting I overlooked.
If it was a power/connection problem, then I wouldn't be able to turn it on, as my centre speaker controls that, and it has a seperate connection into the subwoofer.
I am out of ideas, and in need of help.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I hope to God I can get this working again.
And please, I would appreciate if this topic doesn't "die", and for a quick response.
    Thank you.
Edit: I forgot to mention, before clicking "Roll Back" for a second time, I tried a System Restore, but my nearest point was yesterday, before installing GTA: SA. No change.
I am not very good in this area, it was not smart of me to go messing about with drivers, but when I found I could just click a button and it'd find one for me, I thought it wouldn't screw up like this...
I'm not sure if reinstalling the drivers would help, and if they would, after looking over how to do it, with my lack of "Expertise" in this area, I would be very nervous about doing so, I feel I might make it worse if I do. But if I am pointed in that direction, I will give it a go, I just wanted to see if there was any other way I could fix it first. Thanks again.Message Edited by scrood on 06-25-2005 04:46 AM

Hi, solved the problem. I also noticed that when isntalling itunes, quicktime never installed. So i installed quicktime manually and thats when the problems started. I mangaed to solve the problem by deleteing every trace of quicktime, and installing quicktime 6, then reinstalling quicktime7. Problem solved.

  • SB Audigy Platinum Drive (Face Plate) Not Respond

Thats about it.... the MIC IN 2 / LINE IN 2 and Headphone jacks are not working.
They no longer even show up in the Volume Control Panel. I just reinstalled the
drivers, but still nothing..... HELP !!!
The sound works perfect otherwise.... it just front panel.

Obviously the first thing to check is the connections, as that's probably the problem. Make sure you're using the IDE-ish cable that CAME WITH the unit for the connection to/from the faceplate AD-EXT port, plus make sure you have it plugged into the power supply. If I remember correctly it needs a floppy dri've power supply. How many cables do you have coming from the dri've? Do you have a ZS Platinum?

  • 2 issues with last Audigy 1 driver upd

I have presently 2 issues with the last drivers released for the Audigy cards. Both issues are able to be reproduced consistently, and did not happen with the last release (from last year), or at least not consistently.
. Crackling while playing back Quicktime files has increased. Previously it was around in 0 files that crackled (and only Quicktime that I noticed). Now it is around in 3.
    2. I cannot play back DVD's through Windows Media player 0, period. Whenever I try I get the following message:
"this pin cannot use the supplied media type"
How do I know this is driver related? Well, by reverting to the last drivers the message goes away. Also, if I disable the soundcard totally the error goes away and the video plays, albiet without sound.
Anyways just thought I'd post this here so hopefully someone at Creative sees it and actually fixes the issue.
BTW, yes I did try reinstalling the drivers. Twice. Even redownloaded them in case the original D/L was corrupted.
Edited to clarify about the DVD issue:
To make it a little clearer about the DVD issue, when I first got my Audigy while using the original release drivers on the install CD, I could not use 5. output with the soundcard decoding. To try to get it working, I would put the output to SPDIF and set the soundcard to decode AC3. This would not even allow the movie to play in WMP 0, often just crashed the player. With the last driver update before the January one, I could set the output to SPDIF in WMP 0 and AC3 to decode in the Creative audio control panel and I would have 5. surround output. With the last driver update, setting output to SPDIF and trying to play the movie gives the 'this pin cannot use the supplied media type' error message. If, however, I start the movie on 2 speaker output in WMP 0 it will play normally. While the movie has started I can go into preferences and switch output to SPDIF and 5. surround kicks in and works fine usually. But, if I then stop the movie and restart it I once again start getting the 'this pin cannot use the supplied media type' error, and the DVD will not play.
Also thought it worth mentioning XP is up to date, SP2 and all the latest patches, Nvidia drivers up to date (not that it's a video card issue) and Direct X is up to date also (I run the update once a month just in case).Message Edited by Drifter73 on 05-5-2006 0:35 AM

    Jay,
As to your first question: it could be a OS and discoverer problem that you are running into. I would suggestion upgrading atleast to 3.1.45 or higher. If you can go to 4.1
I can not really assist you with your other questions as I do not have that version available..

  • Windows vista 32-bit X-Fi Platinum driver. When Does It Arriv

Let me just first say that i love every Sound Blaster i've ever tried (nope i never used an Audigy, went straight to SB-Li've 24-bit. And i know this is a standard flame-post, but we all deserve some clear response instead of the same old fuzzy replies.. I mean, okay i understand its in development, ironing out bugs, etc.. But please just give US, the PAYING customers a friggen TIMELINE!!When is the official full-featured driver/softwarebundle coming for Vista?I have read all the posts, "i dont have a date yet, but we will post it once we do."?Okay, i dont care about a date. Just tell us if it is coming this quarter, or in the summer, or next winter.Okay? Please just give us some kind of friggen idea of WHEN!After all we paid for the card, its because of your customers that you are still in business, without customers there can be no business. You cant honestly expect ALL your customers to sit and refresh this forum every day / week waiting for the driver, YOU have to make a statement. So please tell us an approximate area within 4 months of when it is expected to be released. And dont tell us "no", there is no reason to. Just state a basic expected/estimated/even a guess, i dont care if its off by 2 months, as long as i know if i can expect it BEFORE or AFTER the summer. Thanks.

I had the X-Fi Fatality installed with Windows Vista Home Premium and received BSOD all the time. Today the BSOD's started happening about 2 minutes after a restart and the reboot would take 30 minutes for Windows to make it make into the login screen.
I was afraid that just disabling the Creative card would leave the drivers and other Creative junk software on my system. I pulled the OS hard dri've, pulled the Creative card, and installed Vista on a new hard dri've.
Man am I excited. My onboard sound works great. 5. is amazing.
Only reason I bought a Creative card was for the breakout box. It's not worth all the crashes to just get a breakout box.
Creative, you will never receive a recommendation from me. Thanks for robbing me of $200.
usfryan, pull that baby and walk away smiling.

  • Problems with X-fi Platinum Drive

    Hi,
I've been using my X-fi platinum dri've bay for quite some time now (,5 years) but since today Windows XP keeps rebooting. I tried re-installing windows. Same story. I did disconnect the bay from the card and it works like a charm.
Anyone else had this issue? Is so... how did you solve it's I'm thinking about returning to the store... since I have a 2 year waranty by Creative itself. But I just want to make sure I'm not causing any problems I could solve myself.
    Thanks
Oh.. and if anyone should request systemspecs (of which I don't think they're relevant, since it worked all the time before) just ask politely

It's always nice when copying a CD to not need to swap discs, plus it burns faster this way (atleast with Nero's "On The Fly" setting).
You don't really need to buy a whole new dri've either. It might be more economical to just get an external enclosure for the dri've you already have.
    Here is an example
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E6878605
I am not sure of qualityrice comparison of this product though, you would want to look at that yourself. I'm just trying to show an example.
If you do buy an enclosure I'd consider putting a burner into it if you have one. It may run a little slower, but then you would have a nice plug/play burner to pop onto any desktop/laptop you happen to need to burn off of.

  • Can one use an Audigy 1 Platinum drive with an Audigy 2 soundca

I'm thinking of upgrading from an Audigy soundcard to an Audigy 2 or greater, but I don't want to lose the functionality of my Audigy Platinum dri've, nor have to buy an Audigy 2 with a Platinum dri've, if I can avoid doing so.
Is it possible to just upgrade my Audigy soundcard to an Audigy 2 card and be able to continue using the same Audigy Platinum dri've with it's I've looked at a picture of the Audigy 2 Platinum dri've, and I can't tell a difference between that one and the Audigy version.

  • SB Audigy 2 Platinum Driver/Softwa

    Hi
Seems I might have solved my problem with NAV 2005, it hasn't turned off since, been using Creative Remote Quiet a bit lately. When I installed my soundcard software I did a custom install and picked the components I wanted in, I did not do a full install. was that the right way to handle it's or should I have done a full install of driver and applications on the driver CD? I'm very happy with this soundcard for sure

    Hi
Only other thing I did was disable Creative DVD Audio Detector as well, and reenabled Remote Control after reinstalling the drivers/and the software applications I use, so far so good with Creative's Remote, NAV 2005's Autoprotect hasn't been off once on startup in the last week and a half. Though it was kinda pain reinstalling soundcards driver and software.. but I finally decided I'd try it, and I haven't had an issue with NAV 2005 any day since then..crossing my fingers it's solved totally now
