X-Fi Platinum: Remote quest

I have just instaled my X-Fi Platinum and so far the remote is not working with Creative MediaSource. I can adjust volume/EAX/crystalizer/etc but the Play/Stop/FWD/REW/Previous/Next buttons don't work. I can only use these buttons in Creative Entertainment Center, is that right?I can't beli've these buttons don't work with Creative Mediasource...in my previous A2 Platinum it work flawless

Hi, I recently bought a x-fi platinum, and have not been able to get the remote (rm-800) that came with it working. I have installed everything on the two dics that came with it, and still it won't work.
I see some people mention Entertainment Center, well i did not get that with my card.
What do i need to install and where can i find it's

Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Remote prob

I have had this problem ever since I bought the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum.
My creative remote works fine but the External I/O Module accepts any sigal from any of my other remote controls. So if I want to change anything else in the room like the tvchannel or increas volume on the amplifier, the audigy thinks that i want to change someting like mute och start mediasource player.
At first i thought this was normal but now I cant find anyone else with the same problem.
Everything works fine except for the remote problem. Is this enough to get a new Audigy 2 ZS Platinum?

As I said before, the goal is to try to get sound to play out of both the headset and the speakers attached to the rear of the soundcard simuntaneously.
The headset is plugged into one of those devices in the front that is in a 5 & /4" bay that has the individual knobs for adjusting volume for the headset and outbound levels for the microphone.
The speakers are plugged into the back of the soundcard and do not play any sound in any of the sockets, starting from the firewire port and counting 3 over.
Any suggestions? I? thought it might have something to do with the setting of the speakers from control panel - > Sounds and Audio Devices -> Advanced and picking the right choice there. No luck however. Same for the Creative Speaker Settings as well.
I'm at wits end and I'd be very thankful to whoever can resolve this for me. =)

Creative labs platinum - remote not work

hi i got an old creative platinum sound card, with the white front bay.i have installed all of the software, but have no luck in getting the remote control to work. I have the power connector, connected to the box, and the ide cable connected to the sound card from the box, installed the latest software but still no joy
Any suggestions?

Thanks! What a cool way to test IR remotes. It turns out that the remote was not working, as I suspected. I tested other remotes (TV, DVD) and I could see pink flashes on my digital camera LCD screen. So I removed the battery, played with the contacts inside, put the battery back in and the remote started working. Now everything works! I suspect that due to cheap construction the battery was not making proper contact with the contacts inside.
This is something that Creative should put in their FAQ since I suspect this is a fairly common problem.

Is there any way for me to configure the remote control so that I can use it to control 3rd party applications?I have a friend who own Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro and he can use his remote to control "non-creative applications". It is kind of pointless having the remote because it only works with Creative Entertainment Center which I dont use at the moment because I am using Windows MCE. Thanks in advance!

Driver:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Driver v.2.8.000
Applications:
Creative MediaSource Player-Organizer v.3.30.2
Creative MediaSource Plugin for Remote Control v.2.30.02
I use 5. configurations of speakers.
When, I use remote controller to adjust volume.
Front left and right channels working correctly.
Center, Low Frequency and Back Left channels apply max high volume level and don t apply any other volume levels.
Back Right channel apply max low volume level and don t apply any others volume levels.

SB AUDIGY 2 ZS PLATINUM - REMOTE NOT WORK

I've installed the SB 2 ZS Platinum into my new system and everything is working correctly except for the remote. I've removed the plastic strip from the battery compartment but when a button is pressed nothing seems to happen. I would expect to see a light on the front of the remote illuminate but it does not. Perhaps there is no light that illuminates when a button is pressed!!!! I would at least expect the volume controls to have an effect on the volume. Nothing happens. I have power to the face plate and the headphone jack and volume control do work. The IEEE 394 port is also working. Any suggestions?

OK, let's see, you have a device that is still under warranty. You properly installed said device. You put batteries in the remote but it does not work no matter what you try. It seems to me that you have only one option and you mentioned it in the penultimate sentence in your post.

this is a Known issue to Symantec Support, I really really want to be able to use my Audigy 2 Remote Control with this Soundcard, but I can't, until Symantec or YOUR SLOW AS MOLASSES COMPANY UPDATES MEDIASOURCE SOFTWARE SO THESE 2 PROGRAMS DON"T CONFLICT, WITH REMOTE CENTER LOADING ON STARTUP, IT WILL NOT LOAD AUTOPROTECT FOR NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2005
FIX THIS, and quickly, is all I have to say

I don't have that file on startup--SBDrvdet, All I have is Creative DVD Audio Driver Detector, CTHelper, and RCman, which is disabled so Norton's Autoprotect will work ok.

Here is Symantecs workaround, I guess I can li've with these, but if Norton's Autoprotect winds up disabling by this workaround, and I happen to get a trojan or virus in..then I won't be very happy

On the Windows taskbar, click Start >Programs >Creative >Creative MediaSource Go!, and then click Creative MediaSource Go!</LI>
Right-click anywhere on Creative MediaSource Go!</LI>
In the new window that appears, click Close. This prevents the program from loading when the computer starts.</LI>
Do one of the following:
If you also have Creative RemoteCenter, then go on to "To stop Creative RemoteCenter from running when the computer starts."</LI>
If you do not have Creative RemoteCenter, then restart the computer and go to the next step.</LI>

After Disabling Creative DVD Audio Detector, I reenabled the Remote Control and restarted, and so far so good last 2 days without a conflict With Norton Antivirus, if it really does solve the problem, I will email Symantec Support and let them know the solution, so they can inform other users with the same problem, since obviously creative doesn't want to assist them in finding the problem or provide help fixing it. So far Remote Control hasn't been an issue, but I'm gonna wait til end of month to send off an email to Symantec to make sure it's actually fixed. Since if it doesn't drop out of me by then, then I know it's fixed, since was only in 2 weeks before it got the internal program error before.

Getting An Audigy 2 zs Platinum remote to work on vista

Hi,
I have had this soundcard for quite a while must be going on 3-4 years nowand although having vista since it was released have still not been able to resolve the fact its remote does not work which was at the time one of the main reasons for buying the platinum version.
I know this must seem kinda late to start pissing arround with this but I just never had the time.
Any help on resolving this issue would be great..

Zen Micro remote quest

I've been looking at players and liked the Micro and Neeon,as it seems the Neeon's been phased out in favour of it the Micro seems the one for me.
My main requirements that most players seem not the feature were a remote so I don't have to keep fishing the thing out and really would have prefered a player with Flac or other lossless support,but I guess mp3 will have to do.
The question I have is regarding the remote,I was happy when I finally discovered it has one as an optional extra and that closed the deal but I have one question.

"Everything that comes in the box (plus the optional wired remote) matches."
The picture also shows a much cooler looking remote than the one in the shop,that I take it has the same colour as the player you choose.

The wired remotes for the Zen Micro are not available in the same full range of colours that the player is, but you can get it in black and white. You didn't mention what region you're in, but here are a few links:

X-FI Platinum remote will not control Crystaliz

Hi,
installed the soundcard and the remote did control the Crystalizer(when enabled) but now it will not.
It will control volume and other functions.
Think it is since I downloaded the driver update.
Also in play control when I go to use the mic there is permanant delay/echo on even tho the fx are all disabled.
Anyone?

same thing happens to me, I don't know why. The only suspicious thing I did was quit from loading at windows start the cd/dvd detector,creative media source detector,creative media source go,creative updreg, but when I put them again the wheels didn't work...Message Edited by abyss696 on 2-04-2006:49 PM

X-FI Platinum remote is

I love my new sound card. It is so much better than the junk onboard "7." I had been using. But the biggest feature the X-FI Plat has, doesn't work.
I have cycled through these forums, I have read help articles online, and all say the same thing. I have to install "Entertainment Center", or I have to pay for and use a 3rd party program.
I have tried installing Entertainment Center from the installation cd that came with the card. Error, it will not install. I try to find it on the Creative site, nothing but an information article telling me about it. Why will the program that seems to run a major feature of a rather expenci've card, not install?
No, I will not try your 3rd party program. I refuse to spend $200 on a sound card, then have you come along, and "kindly" suggest I try this program, and then find out 75% of the buttons will not work, because you want a "donation" of $0-30. Why should I pay for something that should already work, out of the box?
I have been trying to figure this problem out for about 4 days now, and am getting a bit frustrated. If this cannot be solved, I will be returning the card, and looking for a better alternati've, that works.

it is an old problem... If you install everything from your disc, your remote will work ok...
If u download a driver or so, ur remote will only work with the basics...

I have win XP, all the latest drivers i can find, the bay is properly connected to the soundcard, the dri've is recieving power, the remotecentre program is running, the remote has batteries, the grass is green. Why isn't it working?!!!

yep, did all those things. finally got it workin tho, took a soldering iron to it and replaced what seemed to be a broken IR receiver. Screw the warranty, if I need to I'll just fix it again myself. but thanks anyway man
