OK im looking to update my old audigy 2 value as i would like to. One question i have is on the X-FI XtremeMusic (as i take it its the same as all the higher end cards minus the li've dri've ...) on the XM can you turn sets of speakers off. The reason i ask is i would like to?do a 3. setup (front left, front center, front right). I know i could easily run the card in a 5. mode and not run rear speakers but this would yeild a really weird sound feild when playing games.... as there would be no way to reproduce the rear sounds. The question i have is on the X-FI xtrememusic can i run in a true 3. (4 seperate discrete channels)?not just a 5. with muted rear speakers?ThanksBen

You can do this in formula of query designer. Write the following for your formula:
( F1 = 0 )( F3 - F2 ) + ( F1 <> 0 )( F3 - F1 )
Actually it is using boolean operator.

. Is the only difference between the Zen Micro and the Zen micro Photo:the photo option/display ( and maybe storage capacity)

Firmware update for Zen Xtra, a simple quest

Hello,
I have purchased my zen xtra on July. It works just fine. When i go to "about" in the menu to see the player's version it says .03.02. I don't know if i need to upgrade the firmware because nomad's page for upgrade provides a firmware with same number: Creative NOMAD Zen Xtra firmware update version .03.02
Does it mean i already have the latest firmware version in my player or do i still have to upgrade it's

If your player already showing the exact same firmware version as with the download then you would already have the same firmware version. You do not need to update again.

Zen Touch simple quest

Hello.
I've just bought a Zen Touch and after 4 hours charging it the blue led of the power button stopped blinking and the battery icon on the display stopped showing. Is that OK?
The manual says we should see if the battery is fully charged by checking the battery icon.

Actually I think it trickle charges for another 30 minutes, so to get the top performance from the battery you might want to leave it another 30 minutes (Creative, can you confirm this?).

Automatic commands when upgrading packages

[I'm not sure where my question should be posted so I've just droppped it here. Also sorry the bad english =/]
Whenever I upgrade some packages (as linux, man-db etc) pacman runs some post-installation commants (as mkinitcpio, man-db update etc). Does it use some configuration files for that? I searched pacman's wiki page and pacman.conf man's page but couldn't find anything about it.
The point is: I'd like to change these commands a little bit. Is there any clean and automatized way to do it? (basically I want to move my kernel etc files to a /boot/Arch folder instead of /boot for tidiness purposes )

@falconindy: I see. Thanks for the reference. I've seen this already regarding ABS etc but I guess this doesn't suit what I wanted.
@WorMzy I've already changed /etc/mkinitcpio.d/linux.preset to suit my needs (it already creates my initrd files directly on /boot/Arch/). Now I just want to get the kernel to the other folder since pacman defaults exctracting it to /boot as you just said. I know perfectlky how to do this manually whithout any problems, but I was wondering if there was any way of automatizing this task as I upgrade linux package (and I wondered should it have some capability of pacman that I could benefit from to accomplish this task). However, as you said, the .install scripts are just bundled in as part of the package, so I guess it won't be a simple quest
About the bootloader possibility: hm, I really don't know if it will be nice to try it as I'm using UEFI and I'm a bit afraid of messing up xD (and I have others boot entries - as UEFI Shell - on Gummiboot)

You don't need to read all 15,000+ messages. The next time you can use the Search Discussions feature (upper right corner) to narrow the scope of messages specific to your question. Many folks can answer their own questions without the need for repeating what's already been asked.

Simple (I hope) cable/mux quest

I just got a new SB Li've 24-bit external (USB) sound card.
I have two PC's (one WinXP, one linux (gentoo)) that I use with a KVM switch.
I've installed the SB on my XP box, and now the audio is coming through the USB connection instead of the rear-panel audio port. I like that, because now the audio doesn't switch back and forth with the KVM focus.
I also have an MP3 player which I've connected to the LineIn on the SB.
What I'd like, is a simple 3.5mm audio mux that will take two inputs and mux
them to one output. In short, I want the linux rear-panel audio and the MP3
player to both come through the LineIn on the SB (which hooks up to my speaker).
I'm assuming this isn't rocket science, but I've struggled to google anything related
to 3.5mm audio muxing that doesn't bring me to some high-end professional audio site.
This is anything but hi-end, I simply want to be able to hear audio from both machines
regardless of which box is being controlled by the kvm....
So you don't think I'm completely nuts, I'm not trying to listen to multple
streams, or use the SB on my linux box (yet :-), I simply want my calendar audio
alarms to be heard regardless of which box my kvm is switched to...
Pointers to a link and/or proper description of this little muxer that will help me

A simple upgrade quest

First my system specs
(System Info) [CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (CPU-Speed: 3.20 GHz)]-[Memory: 023MB]-[Video Card: nVidia GeForce 6800 GT]-[Sound Card: SB Audigy Audio [A400]]-[Resolution: 280x024x32bpp 75Hz]-[OS: WinXP Professional 5. Service Pack 2 (Build #2600)]
As you can see, I currently have an SB Audigy(Gamer). I have been muling over whether to buy an X-Fi Xtrememusic card or not.
I simply want to know what would be suggested if I was to upgrade to it. Should I remove drivers, should I reinstall games, should I do anything besides just switching the card and installing its drivers.
And besides that, I would be interested in knowing how the performance in games may or may not be affected by the upgrade.

Have you read any of the threads on this board? I too was in your position.. upgrading from an audigy 2 though... You wold be nuts to even think of getting yourself into this mess.
Seriously... think of the axiety that you would have if you spent >00$ on something that does not work now... or may not work ever properly.
I would recommend getting an inexpensi've OEM Audigy 2 ZS (Not the value... it does not do hardware acceleration). Though this card is also plagued with issues... At least you will be able to install it and use it for the most part. Right now the X-FI is not prime time... it is still a beta card that has been released to the public way before it should have.
I almost gave in to the temptation on the 5th when they came out with new drivers.. but almost everyone said it did not help that much.
I am suspecting that there was a manufactoring issue... Majority of the cards are having the issue and small few are not.. It weird how some say no issues and other are plagued with the same exact setup. Does not make sense... I would give it to February to make your decsion... that should exhaust most of the old inventory... and hopefully newer revsions of the x-fi hardware will be out on the shelves addressing most issues.
So.. i think you should be able to answer your own question...

Creating report with multiple queries in clear quest

Hi,
I am new to reports and currently working with creating reports that connect to clear quest(CQ).
I have successfully created several reports, that connect to the CQ, but they all have data from only one query.
Now I am trying to create a slightly complex report where I need to fetch data from multiple queries. All these queries use 2 parameter to filter their data. I have dynamic cascading parameters to get them. When just connecting they all work ok. I used the link tab to link them to two fields of one query, to make sure that they all filter to fields from same query.
The problem is when I drop the fields from the various queries on the form, the data is fetched multiple times.
I also played with links to make them outer links but in that case I get error and unable to run the report completely.
Any ideas on how to work with multiple queries and provide same parameters to all of the queries?

You don't. That's the nature of the data. For example a single person can order multiple items. A simple one to many relationship.

You should be seeing tables... I think you're having a tough time with the basic terminology.
- How does these Enforce Joins (4 options) work.
There is rarely if ever any reason to switch from the default "not enforced". Leave it alone. The only one you'll touch 90% of the time is the Join Type.

Based on the questions you're asking, it sounds like you are missing some major database fundamentals. My suggestion would be to step away from CR for the time being and read a little bit about relational databases (what makes them relational) and database normalization. This will also give you an idea about the various join types and when to use one over the other.
You can know every feature and function in CR, but until you have at least a basic knowledge of how data relates, you'll never pull in the data you need.

etc in a simple text format. For example, a human-readable site map
gives a list of all the <title> tags, and I'd like that, but
in a text file, for a choice of tags.
With a bit of playing around with regular expressions, Find
and Replace will generate a report, but the format is very messy.
For SEO purposes this must be a common enough need, is there
any way to do it? The super total completely wonderful dream
utility would generate a .csv file with file name, <title>,
Description etc in columns but any simple list would do the job.
It's a big planet, billions of people, millions of websites
... the quest for the dream utility ... it must be there .. I'm
sure of it ... anyone got any ideas where?

I'm a hobbyist! "Daddy does movies", enthusiastic about the -zillions of features, tools like FCPX and Motion5 offer! I'm no designer, no engineer, no 'pro'. My goals are sky-high, results more down-to-earth
This is no request for help, just to share my … quest for a 'simple' effect. Or feature… Or box.-
In hope, it helps YOU to solve your problems…
The Issue
Simple: I wanted to create my very own 'title' template for FCPX. Concept: a lil' animation, the two teams logos reveal a lower third, showing the actual score. Plus, an insert showing the scorer (=my kids love to see themselve in such 'sports graphics' )
Usually, I 'manufacture' such graphics as single Motion-Projects. This time, my goal was a template, my kids slaughtered in the first season's game the other team by 11:1 (which is in soccer… a goal-fest) To 'built' each Title manually as individual Projects would spend too much time. I needed a template! … so, step #1: using a Dropzone for opponents logo - easy. Animating - been there, done that, easy.-
But that 'show players face&name' … 18 team-members… wouldn't it be nice to have some 'drop down menu'?
How to accomplish that?
The Manual, with all respect, is written for experts. Describing ALL options in one sentence. I need a cookbook, step-by-step-instruction … My preferred source of imagination, MacBreakStudio/rippletraining/Mark Spencer, hasn't done a tutorial for 'drop downs' yet.-
My guts told me, it has something to do with 'rigs' …
The Rig
I dragged my folder with player-pics into my Motion5 project; there, I could check/uncheck each player. But I wanted these 'boxes' avail in FCPX, I wanted to 'publish' this check-list. Trying 'tis&'tat, I noticed, I can apply to the opacity of each player-pic a Rig. And a Checkbox-rig - hey, that close!!
… soooo?
No 'checkbox' in FCPX after publishing my title. No list after publishing to FCPX! What have I done wrong?
The Snapshots
I was confused by the meaning of 'snapshot'! … and since it made "ping!" in my head, it's so simple:
As I would done it in a 'manufactured', single Motion project, I have to select each team-member, create a New Snapshot, set opacity to show only this player; create another New Snapshot, showing a diff. player. … and so on, and so on.
… for sure, for convenience I renamed each Snapshot to each Player's name…
In my amateurish mind, I had the imagination, Motion5 would offer me a 'behavior' (or 'filter' or whatever) to create checkboxes; or drop-downs; … uhm, well it does, but for me the work-flow is back-to-front: first creating a status-quo, then tell 'this is option#1/#2/#3' … I had the idea, you can select first an 'empty box', then drag its content into it. I've learned: professional don't tic this way.
Eighteen Snapshots later …
The Result
After publishing my hand-crafted Title, it appears like that in FCPX:
The Dropzone is to apply the actual contestants team-logo; the 'Title' is the score, just type the number; and - finally! - I had my drop-down-menu, listing all players, for simple selection.- Me happy … !

As mentioned before: the design isn't meant to win a price; and most probably, there are 'shorter ways to Rome' … so, if any of you 'pros' like to comment or recomment a 'better', in terms of 'easier' way, don't hesitate to teach me!

… I'm no expert (as you notice in my first post ), but I'm really overwhelmed by the endless options, esp. in correlation with FCPX… on first sight, 'rigging' looked like 'bundled color sliders' to me, but by creating your very own drop-down menus you can create extremely powerful tools, handcrafted for your very own needs.
For sport-reports, with its tons of statistics and inserts, you can create a box of 'title genrators' - once done, multiple times used, and extreeeemly fast then.
… And when a 'nnob' like me manages it, it is really no rocket-science…

Simple asymmetry in XOR-type encryption

Hi there.
In my never-ending quest for knowledge, I've decided to implement a (very) simple and (very) weak encryption algorithm, to teach myself the extreme basics of cryptography. What I decided to do is this:
Take a byte array, which could represent a file, or user input, or whatever, and XOR each byte with a byte from an encryption key provided by the user.
This produces a garbled set of bits that represent the encrypted message. This also has the (dis)advantage that decryption is the same process as encryption, since XOR is symmetric. So in order to decrypt an encrypted message, you simply supply the same encryption key, and re-encrypt it. This is the code:

Now that works just fine; the encryption and decryption produce the proper output. However, I would like the encryption and decryption processes to be different, so that if the user wanted to double-encrypt a file, it wouldn't produce just a decrypted file as output. My idea was this:
First encrypt with a static array of nothing-up-my-sleeve bytes (which I called a Rubicon), then encrypt with the user's encryption key.

I thought I was being pretty clever. Turns out that because of the symmetry of XOR, it doesn't matter whether you use the Rubicon or user's key first, you'll get the same output.
I am trying to think of a way that is simpler than RSA-level algorithms, but more realistically secure than a Caesar cipher (example: shifting 1 byte right on encryption, then 1 byte left on decryption is way too simple). Any ideas for methods to differentiate between encryption and decryption, while staying simple but not too simple?

Well, what I m searching for is something like:

(i.e. when I set my secure-web-site.xml settings, in the ssl-config entity.)
I'm new to OC4J and got no idea if this possible. I know that this can be at least done in Tomcat and Weblogic.
By applying the settings as:
Tomcat => clientAuth="want"
and
Weblogic => Two Way Client Cert Behavior = "Client Certs Requested But Not Enforced"
Please advice, how to solve this in Oracle products ?
