X-Fi SPDIF not working in Vis

I am using X-Fi platinum with DTT2500 (with external decoder).
Under the Creative Audio Console, i had already set the Decoder to use Bitstream Out, with SPDIF Bypass.
Under windows, I had set SPDIF as the default playback devices (rather that "Speakers"). However, my external decoder is still not receiving any digital signals.
To make things more confusing, I have no idea is my player running on a software decoding of the AC3 materials, or the X-Fi is doing the job.
Is there any way to verify this? As it seems that the current beta drivers does not include a on-screen notification of DD/DTS output.

I think you need to use Alchemy to sort of "convert" the game to recognise it.
The way sound is created in Vista is very different to how it was in XP and so older applications don't check the correct way to find it in Vista.
Alchemy is a free download for X-Fi users I think.

  • X-Fi Bundled software not working in Vis

As the title states, the Software CD that came with my Xtreme Music is not working in Vista. While to Beta drivers do allow sound output, I no longer have access to my software. Will there be a fix for this or a software download anytime in the forseeable future or should I forget about it's Just wondering.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

To use the software from the CD, you have to be using the drivers for XP (since the CD is for XP). If you have anything else then the X-Fi Xtreme Audio, you should get the software with the beta drivers and if you have the Xtreme Audio then try using the software AND drivers from the CD.

  • March XFI drivers SPDIF not working for Dolby digital playback

    >? Tried to dolby digital movies using powerdvd 8.
No sound. Drivers work fine with games/desktop. So I think they installed ok.
Dolby digital out worked fine on the previous drivers. Am I forgetting to set something?
The build in dolby digital tester works. I'll hear sound on the receiver thru dolby digital only. But movies are silent.
This is xfi fatality pro. ? vista 64 SP
Also the spdif out properties only has 2 channel format showing. Shouldn't there be 5 channel as well?

So no one has any idea how to fix this? past drivers I had spdif pass through automatic. Is it disabled somehow in the march drivers?
Using power DVD 8 not 9. So that probably has newer options that don't exist. I installed the march drivers just the drivers. All the drivers have is the audio control panel and driver. There is no other software. So maybe there is a registry hack I can do to enable the pass through to work?
I think I may have found the problem but don't know how to fix it. In the audio control panel there is no decoder tab. And that tab gives options for setting
your receiver to decode dolby digital. So I think thats why movies are silent.
Just bought powerdvd 9. Maybe 8 is no longer compatable with the latest drivers. I'll see if this fixes it or not.
Same problem in powerdvd 9. When a movie is playing it does say this "S/PDIF output device:? Speakers (2- Creative SB X-Fi) (in use)" so the spdif is in use but the signal isn't getting to the receiever. Going to try and reinstall the drivers again.

I use the Cambridge Soundworks DDT 2500 which is an active decoder. (also from creative)
I have already flashed my BIOS updated my drivers.

    Great Reply!! Thanks.
But i still think it is strange from creative to supply you with an audio test, that apparently doesn't send out a proper signal to support 5.1
Furthermore, besides the SPDIF there is also a black and green cable at the back of my DTT 2500 decoder. But these seem to have no sound at all running through them.
If Ii disconnect the SPDIF I have no sound. But if I unplugg the black and green cable this has no effect. Has my DDT 2500 become obsolete??
I had it attached to an older Soundblaster live, which had digital DIN, this worked great.
Is there some wat to get surround sound up and runner for more than just DVD?
Creative have a live! 24 card of their own, which probably has the multi-spdif jacksocket to support digital din. I don't believe creative are supplying speacial software to OEM's, so  the test is included as it will work with thier own card.
Someone posted about a HDA MYSTIQUE card which supports "Dolby Live", but you have to import it yourself.

  • X-Fi and 5.1 output over SPDIF not work

What do you mean by 'my iTunes id is not working' ? Of you mean that it's disabled then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your iOS deviced by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Store on iOS 6+) and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on them.

  • Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working

Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working? I have an old Audigy Platinum Ex that has served me well, until now when I have a new Windows 7 x64 PC (RTM). SPDIF IN no longer works, though everything else does (including SPDIF OUT). I've tried the current and beta drivers for the card, and no difference.
In Windows Vista x64 I could use ASIO drivers with my M-Audio ProFire 60 while using the Audigy for PC audio. Most often this was for skype, which I would set to use SPDIF IN/OUT which I then connected to the ProFires SPDIF OUT/IN. Using the ProFire mixing tool, I could control which mics and levels went to the Audigy while not interfereing with the ASIO drivers recording the mics. The ProFire also recorded the SPDIF OUT from the Audigy to caputre the person on Skype to their own audio track. This is a podcast producer's heaven, and I miss it!
If it's a known issue (SPDIF IN / Win 7), I've had this card through 4 PC upgrades and it's served me well enough I don't mind buying new. The Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Elite Pro looks to be the current version of my Ex - are there any Windows 7 issues currently that would stop me from using it in the role above? I will miss the FireWire port, a shame they dropped that.

Well basically it is possible, and I've found this out. Apparently Dell released a driver or something that allows it to work, but then only if you install a 3rd party modified xp version of the creative suite. I don't remember where I found it, but it was through google... Using some term including x-fi, dts, and vista.... Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, it had a download for the whole creative suite that was modified from the xp version for Vista, however it was buggy as hell, caused driver issues and blue screens, and ended up causing me to have to reinstall Vista altogether again. In other words, it's possible, but I don't recommend it until it's officially supported... Don't know when this will be yet... *crosses fingers*
Luckily I've got a dual OS system with XP too, and I switch to that when I want to use my Xbox 360... However due to Microsoft also being terrible in that department... I now get entertainment off of its 3 red lights... (For those of you who don't know, 3 red lights = hardware error. Sending into microsoft for repair typically is a 2 month process... I'm still waiting on my prepaid shipping box to arri've and it's been 4 days... Will be a similar wait to get it to them, 4-6 weeks for them to actually repair, and another week or so to get it all shipped back). Although even when the console worked, my dsl modem sometimes cut out when playing on Xbox li've and dropped signals, reported errors, etc.

  • Anchor in Safari is not working from left to the right (visa versa) other browsers are working corectly with this!

    Hi,
The Safari anchor problem is back! But now for using an anchor from the left to the right and visa versa (it is for a website design).
Apple solved the problem for using the anchor from the top to bottom and bottom to top but NOT from the left to the right and right to the left.
I test it in several browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, IE8, even in IE7 is it working ;-) but not The Safari of the Big Apple!!!
You can test it here: http://www.douma.biz/anchor_problem_safari/
I put a little script in it so it is going smooth to the right and left. It is also not working without the script, so that is not the problem.
You can test it in: Firefox, IE8, IE7, Chrome, Opera etc. But Safiri is it not working!
So can somebody help me? I tried the max-height, max-width, with and without overflow-x hidden, etc etc. but it is still not working in Safari.
    Best regards,
    Stephanie

    Is it again a bug???

  • Qosmio G30-102 Optical SPDIF out not working

I have bought new Qosmio G30-102 and I am quite sure that SPDIF Optical Out connector is not working.
I can't test it at the moment, but I had a couple of SPDIF sound cards and every one of them had a red light on all the time, which signalized that Optical SPDIF is supported.

    Hi,
maybe I would first try a SPDIF device, if I were you, because I agree with the user before, it has definetively a SPDIF out.

  • SPDIF In not working, no SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, X-FI Extreme PCI

    Hi All,
I am trying toget the SPDIF input working with my HDTV as the source of the audio input. I have looked everywhere in these forums and there are many references to the SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, but this does not exist in my software. I have done the software auto update and it tells me I have the latest software and drivers. How do I get the SPDIF input to work. I would think it should be as easy as turning on this input, but I cannot figure out how. HELP!!

  • Verified by visa does not work

When trying to use Verified by Visa, it no longer recognizes our password. Instead, it allows you to try to provide the password 3 times. It then locks out and forces us to reset the password. This new password then works for the one transaction being authorised, but will not work on any subsequent transactions. Rinse. Repeat.
This problem appears different than the 'mixed frame' or 'blank pop-up' problems other users have reported with this same authentication system. Tracking back some of the suggest modifications on 'about:config' on SSL and trusted negotiation modifications, none of them appear relevant (i.e., all the switches are set as the web suggests they should be).
It also feels like this problem only was introduced recently after a Firefox update.
    Any thoughts?

  • My laptop speakers are not working properly so wanted to visit service centers of hp in london

from yesterday night my laptop HP pavilion g6 speakers are not working properly. out of many only one speaker is working so i want to visit authorized service centers so that i can fix the issue.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56001-56500/sp56460.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if this has had any effect on the audio issue.

  • XBox 360/Audigy: SPDIF IN pass through to SPDIF OUT not working with 5.1

    Hi,
I've a problem passing my digital dobly signal from my 360 over the Audigy soundblaster to my external decoder. I want to use digital SPDIF IN from the audigy?IO device to pass the signal directly without processing to the external decoder by using the SPDIF OUT.
There is only one digital in at the decoder, so I need this combination if I want my PC and XBox to be connected both without a toslink switch.
I activated the pass through and external decoder option in the audigy console application. I also disabled the DDL encoder. Additionally I set my Windows 7 speaker settings to use SPDIF OUT as standard device.
This is working for every dolby digital signal?from a dvd which I play on my PC, but not for the XBox signal. The signal is not recognized as a 5. dolby digital signal, but as a 2.0 signal. So something must happen with the signal in the audigy. The XBox settings are correct, because when I connect the toslink cable directly to the decoder everything works fine.
My drivers are the newest one (3.8)?from the support pack.
I don't want to use the DDL option, because the latency is much to high to allow regular playing!
Is there a possibility to pass the XBox signal through to my decoder by using the digital in and out of the audigy?
    Thanks in advance,
    Axel

Hi I have the same probleme, exept that I have succesfuly pluged my home theater receiver and the 5.1 works. Just my subwoofer seems not to work properly. Like when I plug it into a digital dvd player it works very nicely. but when pluged into the sound card it seems that it dosnt have any signal for it.
ANy clues??? I know i pluged everything finely I have tested the sound test for each speaker and sub to, from the receiver and from the creative software the sub seems to work but very quietly even if I cran the volume up on the sub or in the software , the sub dont work as it should.
1 thing I remarqued is that the sub works occasionaly in some movies. When listening to the music it not working and I dont understand that.
