X-fi Style 32gb questions...

Hi,I would like to buy a Zen x-fi Style 32gb from your website, I just have a few questions... If for any reason I'm not happy with the product, am I able to return it in the condition I received it for a full refund? What is the time period for this?Also, I li've in New Zealand, how would this affect the warranty you offer. Any help would be great. Thank you?

Hello DanielBradley,
Welcome to Creative forums!
As far as I know, the store's return period is 30 days from the date of purchase. My apologies but I'm not very sure about the full refund. For the warranty, it is normally year. I suggest you get in touch with <a rel="nofollow" href="http://sg.creative.com/corporate/about/companies.asp?nav=Eur]customer support[/url] just to make sure.
You can also check from the reailers in New Zealand. Here's the list. I think it will be easier (return/replacement/refund) if you buy from one of the stores in NZ.

    looking at this one: [url="http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Portable-Media-Player-Black/dp/B002YPMOC/ref=sr__2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=23633786&sr=-2">zen 32gb[/url]
    my question is this:
    does this mp3 player require proprietary software to put songs on it or can i just take a folder from my computer, and put it in the music directory on the player using drag and drop
    i did a search but so many "creative zen" players came up i dont know which one to even look at. seems like some can and some cant. im trying to research it now through other means but im just kind of hoping someone on here that owns one can let me know what is required.

    First of all, I'm assuming that you are already clued-up on moving your CD albums onto your hard disk. You should, by the way, always create a folder for each CD/Album, and put all the tracks into that folder.
    From your question, it appears that you haven't yet purchased a Zen. Your Zen comes with some programs to help you do things. In the context of your question here, you get a "Zen Media Explorer" which allows you to do the following:
    . Move your CD/Album folders into your Zen.
    2. Make a playlist for each of the above folders.
    Then if you want to play an album in your Zen simply select a playlist and click "Play".
    There are other ways of doing things, but the above strategy keeps everything tidy and easy to find (and play).
    You can, for instance, create your own"mixes" (putting each into a playlist). You can of course select individual tracks, and (if you want) set "random play".
    You might also find it useful to always set the sleep timer to (say) one hour - then if you forget to switch your Zen off, you won't flatten your battery. When you switch on again, you'll automatically be put into the playlist/track/position-in-track that you were in when "sleep" kicked in. This "return-to-place" also works if you deliberately switch off.
    One other recommendation - always switch to "lock" when playing. In "lock" the display is switched off, so you'll get about 24 hours of audio play on one battery charge. If you don't use the lock, the extra drain by the display will shorten your battery life before you need a recharge to something between 2 and 5 hours.

  • Document Style/Schema questions

    We are using Weblogic 8.1 sp1 and eclipse
    I have some general questions about Document style web services
    If I create a simple web service like
    public String getSomething(String xmlRequest)
              throws RemoteException, SomethingException
    then I can use servicegen, style=documentwrapped and everything works fine.
    The strings are actually XML documents. If I want to let my clients know about
    the schema for these documents would you suggest modifying the wsdl or publishing
    it elsewhere?
    Assuming I decide to put the schema in the wsdl how would I do that? (I am not
    using workshop)
    How does Weblogic know to convert the SOAP body into a String object? Should my
    interface be changed to use org.w3c.org.Document objects insead of Strings?
    Switching to the Client and consuming a document web services
    If I use clientgen on a wsdl that is document/literal style and has a full schema,
    I get a bunch of java classes representing the Document. The port object returns
    one of these objects (getSomethingResponse). Is there a way to have the port object
    return a an org.w3c.org.Document object?
    thanks for your help,

    Hi Brit,
    If your business logic works fine just using strings then there would
    seem to be a little value in increaing the complexity of the message
    exchange pattern. If your client needs to know more about message where
    sharing the schema is desirable, then it is suggested as best practice
    to import the schema into the WSDL. The WS-I BP [1] clarifies use of
    the import mechanisms to keep them consistent and confined to their
    respective domains.
    For a org.w3c.org.Document, Manoj has an example here [1].
    The WSDL defines when to convert the SOAP to strings, using for example:
    xsd:element type="xsd:string"

  • XSL-FO Style Sheet Questions..

    Hi,
    I have some questions regarding XSL-FO Style Sheet
    1. How can add some more fields to the XSL-FO Style Sheet when they are not included in the original XML source.. ( like we have attribute1 through attribute3)
    for storing telephone number, fax number and email of the buyer) as we do not have access to the source code that generates the XML.
    2. I need to include the signature image at the bottom of the PO and that depends on the operating unit to which the PO belongs.
    I will appreciate if you can show some light on this with some examples..
    Thanks for your help..

  • Style sheet question

    Working on a book of about 200 pages with multiple chapters. Each chapter must start on a right hand page, which I know how to do. What I do need help with is that my client wants the title of the page on the right hand page by itself, but the opening paragraph of the chapter to appear on the next right hand page (still good with this) but starting about 2in down from the top margin. So how do I make that opening paragraph appear 2 in down on the page after the title page. Space before or after doesn’t seem to work. I also need to have the chapter title appear lower on its page as well.
    Any help appreciated.

    Ariel's script can be purchased at http://www.freelancebookdesign.com/scripts/apply-masters-based-on-paragraph-styles
    There seems to be some discussion over in the scripting forum, too, at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4525554, but I suspect the interface in Ariel's work will be more to your liking.

  • Media Print Style Sheet Question

    Hello!
    I just added a Media Print style sheet to a website.
    Everything seems to
    work for the most part fine and the layout is as expected and
    functioning as
    desired. When I print from Firefox the print size is 12 pt as
    my style sheet
    specified, however when I print exactly the same page from
    Internet Explorer
    the print size is tiny - like maybe eight or something. I
    thought that the
    media print style sheet communicates directly with the
    printer while the
    screen style sheet communicated with the viewer screen. Am I
    mistaken? Why
    does the print size change depending upon what browser you
    use?
    Does anyone have a suggestions on how to get the Internet
    Explorer to
    recognize the font size command and print in 12 pt instead of
    8?
    Thank you

    The stylesheet itself doesn't communicate with anything. It's
    always the
    browser that renders the document or sends it to the printer.
    Different
    browsers behave differently, so there will always be
    differences in the
    ouput. Some smaller, some bigger.

  • RH-generated WebHelp doesn't display some CSS styles

    I've worked with RH for a while, including creating other WebHelp projects in RH that have been deployed without any problem. On my current RH9 project, however, some of the CSS styles are not being applied after the project output is moved to a network directory. When I open the project output on my Desktop, the styles all render correctly.
    The styles in question aren't especially unusual:
    DIV.text {
              width: 640px;
              padding-left: 25px;
              padding-right: 25px;
              padding-bottom: 25px;
              margin-left: auto;
              margin-right: auto;
              background-color: #EDEBDE;
    P.footer {
              text-align: center;
              font-size: 8pt;
              line-height: 25%;
              color: #A13619;
    The kicker is that some of the styles ARE being applied (e.g., background image), while the 2 styles above are NOT being applied.
    Some of the things I've already tried include:
    - creating a new copy of the CSS file
    - making sure the correct stylesheet is referenced in the HTML files
    - making sure the correct stylesheet is referenced in the MasterPage
    - making sure the correct CSS type is specified in the HTML files
    - adding "!important" to the styles that aren't being applied
    Has anyone seen / resolved issues like this before?
    Thanks!

    Solution:
    My supervisor and I huddled on the problem and eventually found these discussions:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4966952/ie-not-rendering-css-properly-when-the-site-is- located-at-networkdrive
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/167657/will-targeting-ie8-with-conditional-comments-wor k#answer-168131
    I opened the IE Tools > Developer Tools panel, and used the Browser Mode settings to check the variations (IE7, IE8, and IE8 Compatibility). IE8 displayed all DIVs correctly, while the other two apparently severed the CSS file from the HTM file.
    I had to do a mass find/replace, pasting another meta tag below the RH generated compatibility check:
    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />
    And there was much rejoicing.
    As an aside, the new meta tag did not work when I tried to apply it to the Master Page....which makes sense, I guess.

  • [JS] [CS3] Finding the longest instance of a paragraph style

    I'm pretty new to JS but I'm trying to write a script that will return the longest instance of each paragraph style in a manuscript (which has been imported into InDesign). Currently, my script lists all the paragraph styles found in the document and puts them in a new document. My next thought was to loop through the style names array and find the longest instance.
    Could anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this?
    Any help is much appreciated. I'm learning a lot reading this forum.

    Your question is slightly ambiguous. Do you mean you are looking for the longest instance of a paragraph in that paragraph style? That's the most likely meaning. Or are you looking for the longest run of text in that style? Because that's what you'll find if you're not careful in your script.
    The essence of the script would be:
    1. Setup a FindText for the paragraph style in question (or each style if you're looping through them all).
    setupFindText(); // use function to setup the find -- search this forum on setupFindText to find it
    app.findTextPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = myStyle; // where myStyle is the style in question
    2. Issue the find getting all the references into a variable.
    var myFinds = app.documents[0].findText();
    3. Loop through all the finds to locate the longest paragraph.
    var longestLength = 0;
    var longestPara = null;
    for (var j = myFinds.length - 1; j >= 0; j--) {
         myParas = myFinds[j].paragraphs;
         for (var k = myParas.length - 1; k >= 0; k--) {
              myPara = myParas[k];
              if (myPara.length > longestLength) {
                   longestLength = myPara.length;
                   longestPara = myPara;
    4. Make sure that longestPara is not null (no instances found); If not, then longestPara is a reference to the longest instance

  • [CS3 JS] Correcting a Character Style Anomaly

    It used to be that you could define a character style to merely colour the text and give it an underline (e.g. for Hyperlinks) or just superscript the text (for Reference citations). When such styles, which do not call for a particular font or font size, are placed into InDesign CS, the styled text would take on the font and font size of the underlying paragraph style. However, after placing a Word .doc with these styles into a CS2 template, the font and font size becomes Times New Roman and 10 pt. The solution was to save an .rtf file and re-import the text. Now, in CS3 this work-around doesnt quite work: the font is okay, but the font size reverts to that default size of 10 pt.
    So, I would like a script that finds all occurrences of two specific character styles (Hyperlink and bibref) and then corrects the font size of the found text to that of the underlying paragraph style. These styles can appear anywhere within a document, including in tables. I have trawled through this forum and found enough to be able to search for the character styles, but I cannot fathom how to apply the font size of the underlying paragraph style. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    By the way, re-applying the character styles doesnt work because the character styles dont define the font size; also clearing the overrides on the paragraph style while the text is selected isnt a viable solution, because other local formatting (i.e. italic) would be lost.

    Hi Peter
    Thank you very much for your quick response. I tried your script and it did as you intended by clearing the Font, Font Style and Point Size in the character style, but unfortunately it did not correct the problem of the style becoming some default style and size (Times New Roman 10 pt) when placed into ID.
    In fact, I had already set up the 'bibref' and 'Hyperlink' character styles with these fields blanked out. Also, I made Adobe aware of this bug when CS2 came out and they warned me that CS3 wouldn't fix the problem; but I didn't realize that CS3 would be worse than CS2 so that using an rtf file wouldn't fix things.
    So, I am left with my initial query: is it possible to write a script to search for the character styles in question and apply the font size of the underlying paragraph style?
    Thanks a lot for any help you can give.

  • [CS3 JS]  Exchange Character Style Problem!

    Hello experienced JS people,
    The situation is as follows -
    I have a document that MAY have the Character Style 'A'.
    If this were to be true - then I'd like to exchange it for Character Style 'B'.
    Sounds simple doesn't it.... It's KILLING ME!
    This must be possible? The problem is - I don't know how!
    My scripting lookes like this so far:
    > app.findTextPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = "File name";
    app.changeTextPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = "Document No";
    oneDoc.changeText();
    Help would be greatly welcomed....
    Thanks in advance,
    Lee

    I think the problem is in the word "MAY".
    You need to have a test for existence:
    var styletofind = app.activeDocument.characterStyles.item("File name");
    if (styletofind != null) {
      var styletochange = app.activeDocument.characterStyles.item("Document No");
      app.findTextPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = styletofind;
      app.changeTextPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = styletochange;
      oneDoc.changeText();
    But even this might not be enough if the character styles in question are in groups.

  • Need help for style not displaying correctly in chm

    I’m using RoboHelp HTML version 8.  RH8 is dropping a style from my stylesheet.  The style appears to be applied correctly when I view a topic (the HTML file) directly with either IE or Firefox browser, and it appears correctly when I view the topic with the “Item View” feature in RH8 (the eyeglasses icon).  However, in the compiled HTML help output from RH, the style is not correct.  The style in question is a class of style (“desc” for descriptions) for a subset of table data. The “desc” class should have the data in the cell left justified, and the cell width should be 50%.  The main parent style for table data (centered text, cell width varies) seems to be applied instead, and the child style for descriptions is not applied.  Below I've included a screen shot of a table page as it looks in Item Viewer, then the same page as it appears in the CHM, and finally the style sheet in its original state before being added to RH.
    Here are things I’ve checked for:
    ·         The project is large, with over 6300 topics and a compiled chm of 5560 KB.  RH crashes when I try to apply style sheets or master pages to multiple topics from the Topic List.  However, I created a much smaller test project with 122 topics and still get the dropped style.
    ·         The style sheets were created outside of RH, and are also used for presenting the same content over the web outside of RH.  The styles display fine in the other context through a browser.  I have not modified the style sheet in RH, but I have opened it in RH.  I’ve also tried deleting and re-copying the style sheet into the project.
    ·         There is another set of styles applying to the tables, for table rows.  There is a “tr” class for the heading and classes for rotating background colors.  These child styles appear correct with no problems.  Every row in a table belongs to a child class of row styles.  In the case of table data styles, most cells require the parent “td” style and only a subclass require the child “desc” style.  It’s the “desc” style that isn’t showing up in the chm.  Is this a clue?
    ·         Multiple style sheets per topic.  Apparently only one style sheet can be used per topic.  In my project, I have two types of topics, called schema pages and table pages, with a style sheet for each.  The same master page is used for both types.  The master page uses the tables style sheet.  Therefore, the tables topics (the ones with the dropped style) use only one style sheet, but it is specified in both the master page and the topic itself.   Is this a problem?
    ·         Reviewing the style sheet in RH.  When I inspect the style sheet through RH’s Project Manager, the table data and table row styles appear under “Other” and not under “Table.”  Is this a clue?
    The special formatting of the description cells in our table-heavy project is essential.  I’ve spend days trying to troubleshoot this problem and would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

    Hi jensei,
    Thanks for that. When I took that screenshot - bizarrely those cells all had exactly the same html. I can't easily prove that now as I have tinkered with that test page quite a lot since. I started thinking maybe I could do something "clever" with table styles to save me the joyless task of manually editing all tables in my project. In the end I gave up and decided to devote a couple of hours to going through and reformatting all tables with a font that was the same size and of a similar type face to the rest of the page. Obviously not an option in your monster project, but it worked for me.
    I've seen so many random results here that I can't get my head around what exactly is going wrong - for me the issue seems connected with style = none in a table.
    Anywhere else on the page, style = none yields text with font = Tahoma 10pt.
    But in the table cells that text sometimes rendered ok in CHM, but often it would randomly appear far larger.
    So for me the cure was to format all tables with font = arial 10pt (rendered result is similar, but somehow different enough to stop the erroneous size rendering).
    That's as far as I got - as usual with time being very precious, I've had to curb my geekiness and crack on.
    Cheers,
    Andy

  • InDesign cs5 keeps crashing whenever I try to alter the footnote formatting via Type Document Footnote Option or Paragraph Styles using Span Columns

    InDesign cs5 crashes whenever I try to alter the footnote formatting by going to Type > Document Footnote Option > and then I try to select a Paragraph style I've already set up. The Paragraph style I need to use includes Span Columns, which I think may be the issue. I think this because when I then I tried to create a new document and re-import the styles, it won't even let me add Span Columns feature to the Paragraph Style in question.

  • Unique Identifier of the source style does not match the target st

    I'm running into a bunch of problems with an export/import, but I'll limit myself to the more opaque ones for the moment. We've got a page group in place and are trying to overwrite it, or at least parts of it, with a revised version. The export appears to succeed, but the pre-check (and consequently, it appears, the entire import) fails. One of the few specific errors has to do with a style:
    [ERROR] id = NULL context = style_pre_check user = PORTAL The Unique Identifier of the source style MY_STYLE does not match the target style MY_STYLE.
    The style in question exists in both our development environment (from which we're exporting) and our target environment (into which we're importing, of course). It hasn't even been changed in the development environment, so it's identical to what it's replacing. Does anybody know what's going on here and how it might be fixed?

    This indicates the style in the production did not come from the same development system as the one you're attempting the new import from. Also, this could happen, if for some reason you had deleted the style in the development after it was deployed to production and (re-) created a new style with the same name.
    In order for pre-check to succeed, you would need to either rename the style on the production or rename it on development and re-export and import the transport set again.
