X-Fi Subwoofer

It seems a lot of people have had this problem but I see few solutions, so I'll try. I have an X-Fi (drivers dated 6/09), Vista, and 5. speakers. I get subwoofer in games but not in music (Windows Media Player, etc.) I tried downloading the Console and selecting "Enable Bass Redirection" and that does not help for music and seems to make bass in games weaker. I tried switching to and from game and entertainment mode (I normally run "game") and nothing works. My speakers are NOT set to Full Range. Has anyone figured this one out

I emailed creative support and they suggested it might be an IRQ conflict. If you go into the device manager and then go to the view menu and select 'Resources by type' you can see under IRQ which devices are conflicting.
The easiest way to fix the problem is to rearrange things in the PCI slots, and disable any devices you're not using (in my case the onboard sound). This seemed like such a simple solution, but it worked =}

  • HELP - No Subwoofer Output in Game

Well I upgraded several things at once recently, including my home theatre, which left me with a reciever and 5 Athena speakers + a Sub. So I decided that these would work wonderfully with my new X-Fi Platinum card.
I'm assuming that I have everything setup correctly by going from the /8" jacks on my X-Fi back to the RCA 5. inputs on my reciever (Denon AVR-205). When it comes to playing movies and music, it's nothing short of amazing. However, when I play games (particullary Battlefield 2 with the Ultra-High X-Fi setting turned on) I am getting absoloutly no output to my subwoofer? This is also the case in HL2 when I select '5. Speakers' from the in-game menu. Is this correct? I'm pretty sure that everything is physically setup correct b/c I get sub output in movies via Windows Media Player. I've also gone into the THX setup control panel that Soundblaster gives you and I can click the Subwoofer Icon or press the 'Test Channels' and I get sub output. And yes, I've gone through the THX speaker assignement option and properly designated the sub.
Any ideas? Any suggestions? Or is this the way it was designed?
I do have the option to run my FL/FR speakers through my sub and set a crossover freq on the actual sub...but this seemed uneccessary b/c I was assuming that my X-Fi would output a sub signal in games.... Did I just get a bad card?
    Thanks in advance.

To get bass, go to the Speaker Configuration of your X-Fi (sorry, using an Audigy and don't know the exact locations of the controls for the X-Fi) and search to find the BASS REDIRECTION option. Enable this and you should be able to get bass from your subwoofer. The crossover slider will enable you to fine tune this according to your speakers' specs. Experiment with it and select the best frequency.
I don't know if this will work, because it appears your speakers do have a crossover, but I am not sure... Did you enable it or not? The X-Fi and all soundcards do not separate the bass signal if not specified so, as most modern 5. systems do that by themselves.

    Hi S,
Run optical/Toslink from your MBP's audio out port to your receiver, then connect the sub to your receiver.

  • Laptop Subwoofer not recognized by Windows 7

My HP Pavilion dv7t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC subwoofer is not being recognized by Windows 7. The subwoofer is an HP Triple Bass Reflex Subwoofer. The laptop came installed with Windows Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 the other day. The subwoofer was working perfectly before the upgrade, but now Windows doesn't even recognize the subwoofer exists when I go into the device manager. I have updated all audio drivers and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.
Is there anything I'm missing or something else I can do to make Windows 7 recognize my subwoofer? Music and games suck without bass and it's really ruining an otherwise great laptop. Please help!

That is for sure the driver issue... I would suggest try this ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45556.exe

  • Subwoofer not recognized in Windows 7

    Hello,
I have a set of Klipsch Pro-Media 2.1 speakers with a 400w subwoofer that works when plugged into my desktop. I have a Lenovo X-301 with I think Conextant 20561 driver updated. Problem is, no sound whatsoever comes out of the subwoofer, and it is not recognized in the audio set up software. It says device is not present. Any suggestions? I have already updated the driver with no change to report.
    Thank you,
    Jack

Thank you, but it says the subwoofer is not present. I also don't know where or how to set it to 2.1 speakers... can you help direct me to that location? I am using Windows 7 x64 btw. Yes, perfect sound comes out of the two main speakers. When I plug the speakers into my desktop the subwoofer works perfectly along with everything... I don't have the option to select the subwoofer as it isn't recognized on the laptop. I just updated the Conextant audio driver to version 4.92.12.0 and no change in result. Subwoofer isn't recognized and is dead silent. This is extremely annoying since I know it works.  I also cannot just throw the subwoofer away because the satellites require being plugged into it. These are Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. There are no solutions out there on the internet. I don't have the option to even select 2.1 or subwoofer.
    Thank you!

  • Asus g73jw - Subwoofer disabled in alsa-Still hear sound(no lowpass)

There are three internal speakers.  Two are front speakers and the third is a subwoofer.  The subwoofer should be playing lowpass audio only.  In alsamixer, the subwoofer is muted and cannot be unmuted.  However, when playing audio, sound is passed through the subwoofer (sound that is being played in front speaker).  This leads to weird/unbalanced audio. I've looked through and played with different .asoundrc but nothing seems to help. I wrote down the basic information below.  Please let me know if further information is required.
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=119710  This thread looked promising but I can't decipher the solution so I have not tried it.  Any other comments, ideas, and brainstorming are welcome.

  • Windows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)

SWindows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)% Greetings,
Today I ugraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition and am having a problem with my 5. surround sound that previously worked perfectly in Windows Vista Ultimate.
I am using an X-Fi XtremeGamer PCIe card and the problem is that I have full working surround sound, but the bass/ subwoofer isn't working.
Previously in Vista I enabled bass redirection in the Creative Console and this would make the subwoofer work. In Windows 7 in the console there is a bass redirection option but it doesn't work. Also in the Creative Audio Control panel there is NO option for bass redirection either.
Audio sounds tinny and I am 99.9% everything is set up correctley, I think this is a driver problem. At this moment I'm unsure if this issue plagues both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7 or just the 64bit version (since the console launcher is 32bit).
Anyone had a similar problem and cracked it's Apart from this small glitch Windows 7 is great!
    Thanks!

WRe: Windows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)h heya, I have exactly the same problem.
running 64-bit windows 7, X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card, Trust 5. speakers.
the bass used to work in XP because I could enable bass redirection and alter crossover frequency.
these options are now no longer available in the windows 7 drivers (.4.90) and my bass is not working at all.
it is very annoying, there has been no comment from creative than i can find because it only appears to happen to a small percentage of speakers.
basically if someone from creative can't help fix the problem,?people with this problem?will unfortunately be forced to purchase a different brand of sound card because my speakers certainly aren't broken and work with the on-board sound fine.
so if anyone else has the same problem or any advice on how to fix the problem, please comment.

  • X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!

<X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!I I have WIndows Vista 32-bit Ultimate and Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio installed and with the factory drivers (I tried another set earlier and they did not work, so I reinstalled the original drivers which worked, at least partially). Until now I only listened to music using my headphones, but I tried today to plug-in my 5. Genius system (50W RMS) and everything works fine EXCEPT the subwoofer does not produce any sound at all!! The ONLY way to make it work is go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> press Configure and then click the Test button in the dialog that appears (or click the subwoofer icon to make it produce a very nice bass sound - which I absolutely love, but it's the only way to make my subwoofer work!!!). Please guys, help me find out what the problem is. All help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you my friend,I have done as you have mentioned (made sure the DLL did not stay there when I rebooted before I installed your version), and now I have the version which you have built. However, I am still unable to hear the subwoofer I am so sad... even my default on-board card supports the 5. just great, and I love the sound of that, but I was hoping for something better from Creative - instead, all I got was a soundcard I can only use with my headphones at the moment because of a faulty driver...
    Did you enable Bass Redirection?
Run Console Launcher, click on Speakers and Headphone -> choose 5. Speakers.
Then click on Bass (Bass Management) and enable Bass Redirection.

  • External subwoofer not working with Satellite C55t-A5222

When I plug in an external speaker system into my laptop, the speakers work, but the subwoofer does not. I have tried two different speaker systems and have the same problem. I know the subwoofer works, because when I connect an ipod or iphone to the speakers through bluetooth, the sound is great. How can I get the same sound when the speakers are connected directly to my Satellite C55t-A5222 laptop? I have verified that I have the latest driver for my sound.

I was having the same problem, so I called Customer Service. The Tech diagnosed the problem with the Realtek HD Audio Manager. I had upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 8.0 so some of the drivers and devices my not have installed correctly, he guessed.
He went Control Panel > Hardware and Sound
Under Devices and Printers he selected Device Manager>Sound, video and game conroller>
He seleced Realtek High Definition Audio
He went to the Driver Tab and selected 'Uninstall"
He uninstalled the Realtek Device and rebooted my laptop.
After the Reboot, he went back to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound  and went all the way at the bottom selected "Realtek HD  Audio Manager. I don't recall if it was there before, but I assumed it wasn't since he was not able to find it previously.
The then opened up the Realtek HD Audio Manager and selected  DTS Tab and clicked the 'Launch' Button. He then selected 'External Speakers and 'Viola' My External Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 2.1 Speakers including the Sub Woofer were 'shaking' my office again!  YEAH!!
He said that each time I want to use the External Speakers and Headset I might have to select it in the Realteck HD Audio Manager if it is not working!    THANKS "SAM" (my Toshiba Tech Guy's psuedonym)
    Hope this helps you guys

  • External subwoofer not working on Asus n55sf notebook

The external subwoofer that comes with the notebook -- which has a proprietary audio jack connection -- doesn't seem to work.
While based on a web search I'm not certain anyone has got the subwoofer working reliably, the following Ubuntu bug thread suggests there is at least one other Arch user who has got the subwoofer working for a while (at least until the upgrade to Kernel 3.1).
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/871808
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get it working?  I've tried all the possible solutions suggested in the bug.  The hda_analyzer codec tweaks don't work for me. My system is up to date. I'm running Gnome 3, alsa and pulseaudio.
    The output of my alsa-info.sh is http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=4777d … af41b8d3bb
Perhaps I need to file a bug with the alsa project?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    A further update:
My sound chip is a Realtek ALC663.  I've tried to setting the model version in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf using the following statement
    options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-6ch-dig
Models are specified for the ALC663 chip at http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Document … Models.txt.  I have tried the following models:
    3stack-dig     3-stack (2-channel) with SPDIF
    3stack-6ch     3-stack (6-channel)
    3stack-6ch-dig 3-stack (6-channel) with SPDIF
    5stack-dig     5-stack with SPDIF
    g50v                ASUS G50V
    asus-mode1    ASUS
    asus-mode2    ASUS
    asus-mode8    ASUS
    dell-zm1            Dell ZM1 with ALC272
    auto                auto-config reading BIOS (default)
I can get the subwoofer working under some of these configurations but that typically means selecting surround sound and having missing channels (I think the laptop has a left front and a right front channel and the external subwoofer, not a front centre or any rear speakers).  Typically, the subwoofer, when working is linked to the right channel, so it would appear that the right channel is output through the subwoofer and the left channel through the front speakers.
I think I need to file a bug with ALSA project and hope that support for my laptop can be included in a future release of ALSA.

  • Where to find and which subwoofer ?

    Hello,
I bought a i-trigue-2200 set 4 months ago. I notice on the back of the main speaker a port to plug a subwoofer.
    1) which model ? (I have heard about P50 )
    2) where can I found such a device ? (I live near to Paris, France).
    Thank you for your answer.
    rp

    Thank you for your answer.
Are you sure that CREATIVE make speakers systems with a hole to plug in the jack of a subwoofer, write "subwoofer out" close to that hole and don't sell any subwoofer ?
I know I would have checked that before.

  • X-Fi THX console for windows vista? (need low pass to subwoof

Hi, back on XP the installation CD included a THX console that could be used to setup a LFE or subwoofer channel. Since I've "upgraded" to vista x64 I haven't been able to find a working version of this nor a workaround. I have a plugin for foobar which accomplishes this task; but, I'd like to take advantage of it while watching dvd's and gaming.
Does anyone know where I can find a THX console for Vista x64 or any other way to do this uni'versally?
    Thanks,
    Rob
ps: this is for the x-fi xtrememusic

Let me try to explain it again. First you install the old windows xp. Go to the sound blaster install folder. Look for the THX console folder. Save it to a disc. Install windows vista. Put the saved folder back on your computer it can be anywhere. Install the vista driver and then you will be able to open the .exe file in the THX Console folder and it should work. It works for me. Hope it works for you.

  • 2 of 4 speakers and Subwoofer not working for Altec Lansing Lucasfilms THX Surround (circa 2003)

I am attempting to connect my Altec Lansing Lucasfilm THX 5.1 sound system to my HP ENVY All-in-one. I think the original audio card for the sound system came on a Dell with Soundblaster.
I have connected the green audio to the jack in the back which only gets 2 of the 4 speakers working (even after configuring the speakers). The subwoofer is connected to the sub jack in the back panel as well and is not working at all. I realize that I am trying to have an ancient sound system work with my fancy new HP Envy. Am I asking too much??  I thought maybe a driver update might be needed. But in theory, if those jacks are available in the back it should work (she says optimistically).
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Not a problem.  Thank you for the additional information.
It sounds like you have the speakers connected correctly.  If there is only one connector for all of the speakers, it may be that you will only be able to use two of them.  However, I am not certain why the subwoofer isn't working.  Is it selected in the Control Panel / Sound?  I realize that you said the speakers are configured in the Control Panel, but is the subwoofer separate?
I have an old (2001) Polk Audio set of speakers.  I have only been able to get two of them and the subwoofer to work with my new HP computer.  It sounds fine without the other two speakers.

  • Problem with car subwoofer amplifier

My daughter bought a complete car audio system.  The amp on the subwoofer doesn't work and the geek squad stated that the amp was defective and that the manufacturers warranty would cover a new replacement.  Long story short...one salesman told my daughter she had to pay an additional $100.00 or more for a replacement box, he told her the system was defective and was a P>O>S>..I called 3 times and asked for store manager, he wouldn't answer my calls, I spoke to a salesman who told me the manager refused to replace item and that I had to contact the manufacturer directly.  He told me I was basically Sh__ out of luck..."these were his words exactly".  What can I do to get this problem fixed?

First, try resetting the iPod itself using the two-button command.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
All this does is reboot the iPod. Then connect it. If that does not work...
On the iPod, go to the Settings screen. At the bottom of the list of settings, there is a command to +Reset All Settings+. Try that, and then try it with the amp. The picture has a 5th gen iPod attached to the device, so that should give you some confidence.
If that does not help, you may want to use the Restore button in iTunes to erase the iPod and initialize its software. Then try it again, after syncing it to your iTunes library.

  • Built in Subwoofer Cutting Out

My early 2011 Macbook pro is experiencing some sort of problem with the built in speakers. Essentially, the subwoofer keeps cutting out and I'm not sure why that's happening. At first I thought the speakers were messed up so I got them replaced at the Apple store and things were fine for a good 2 weeks and now the problem is back. What could this be? Logic Board issue? I did a fresh install of OSX and the problem persists.

    Hi,
The Apple Store wouldn't have sanctioned work on your MacBook Pro unless they believed there was a genuine fault present. If it's persisting after the repair/replacement, just get back in touch with AppleCare, and take it from there.  Let them deal with it
    Good luck,
    S.

  • Subwoofer prob

I have a problem with my subwoofer. I have a Logitech 5. Speaker system and a soundblaster 5. sound card. I know the speakers are connected properly because i checked using the diagnostics. However on a random basis a song will start with the subwoofer at a noticeably lower level than i have it set for. If i restart the song it usually fixes itself. If I search through to a different part of the song it always fixes itself. I have adjusted every setting I can think of, but nothing seems to work. I use windows media player if that makes any difference. If anyone knows what the problem could be please let me know. Thank you.

I use Windows Media Player, but I tried other programs like Dell Jukebox and it still happened. Also when I set my sound card settings to 2 channel instead of 5., the problem goes away completely. But like I said before the diagnostic tests say that it's all working fine even at 5. since the sound comes from the correct speakers, so I'm really confused about this.
