X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional & What-U-H

I was about to buy a new X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Professional soundcard until I read that it didn't support recording via a directsound "What-U-Hear" interface.
Can anyone with this card please say whether it is actually possible to record via the ASIO 2.0 driver instead, with the recording input set to the ASIO-equivalent of the What-U-Hear input (eg. somthing like "ASIO Mix L").
Thanks
NigelS

mmmm, I'm no expert but they look like the std 7. channel inputs not stereo-mix. So it looks maybe as if they have disabled the stereomix input options in the ASIO driver as well now.
Oh well, I guess they've lost another sale....

? Is the front panel from an Audgy 2ZS Platinum compatible with the X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Professional?
I already have the 2ZS with front panel and do not want to have to buy the champion to get front panel outputs from the Fatalty.

C no the two are totally different. The older one uses a 40 Pin IDE style cable, the newer uses two smaller cables.
I am like you, and wish I could have used my older nicer looking bays with my X-FI Titanium, but all things must change.

• X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional

hey guys
I'm working on this problem for weeks now :/. Still no clue
Is there any possibility to decode Dolby Digital/DTS via the Optical In (meaning, e.g. my PS3 gives me 5. sound via Toslink to my Optical IN at my Titanium) ?
Secondly, does this work with the Fatalty champion edition?
or with the Titanium HD?
I just want my friggin PC-Speaker system to give me the 5. sound from my ps3
cheers

I am having problems with Windows 7 64 AMD systems, I have Creative Inspire 8500 5. speaker set, with XFi Titanium PCI E card, and I have had SO many problems with sound quality, windows media player either is the culprit, or I don;t know.
I use Shark's codec pack and used to have no problem with sound until about a month ago, and I have reinstalled the OS clean fresh formatted C dri've install..still having problems daily, I can't stand this...
I am level 3 tech trained so I know what I am doing, and I can't fix this, can anyone help?
greatly appreciate

• X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Series = No hardware acceleration in games when using SPDIF o

So I play Lord of the Rings Online which is a nati've OpenAL+EAX game. I used to run my headphones directly out of the analog output on the X-Fi card and I was able to select hardware accelerated audio in game and hear sound.
Recently I decided to start using the SPDIF output into a dedicated DAC. Now hardware accelerated audio no longer works. I have to use software mode.
Does the X-Fi not support hardware acceleration in games when using the SPDIF output?

Zorlac wrote:
I am happy to report that I think it is working the way I want. I have the latest driver and pulled up the "Audio Control Panel". There is a tab called "SPDIF I/O". I had to check the box next to "Play Stereo Mix using Digital Output" in the "Digital Output" section. Now I can select the normal X-Fi option in the Lord of the Rings Online audio config section instead of having to select generic software audio.
So is the X-Fi now using its own DAC and ADC before it outputs via optical out?
...so yeah, my OCD is not over yet (more questions):
. How the heck do you prove that hardware accelerated OpenAL, EAX features, EAX effects, etc., are enabled and working? Creative Labs could market just about any new feature in EAX and the listener would have no way to prove its working it seems... Is there software to analyze which EAX features are supported, which are being used, etc.
2. Do you really have to be in Game Mode in order to take advantage of hardware acceleration and EAX feature/effects in games? It seems to me that Audio Creation Mode can support these "optionally" from what I have read online. What does optionally mean if this is true? heh
3. How do I prove that I am getting bit perfect output in Audio Creation Mode? I need some way to monitor the SPDIF optical output via hardware or software. Someone here has to know the answer to this without hooking my card into a multi-thousand dollar home theater amp to find out. Can I hook the SPDIF optical output to the optical input and some how analyze the input signal? (im just brainstorming)
With spdif out, you are not using the DACs on the card.
As for questions through 3, very good questions.
. With 4.0, 4., 5.0, or 5. speaker set up, and CMSS turned off, I think if you can hear sound out of the rear speakers when the sound is supposed to be behind you, then you can safely say EAX is working.
2. Don't know. I leave mine in game mode all the time. I have 64bit Vista, and there are no 64bit ASIO drivers, so I have no need to go into audio creation mode. Everything I do works good in game mode, and I use a different card for recording.
3. Don't know.

• Headphones for Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Series

Hello everyone,
Basically I'm planing to buy Fat. Prof. Series card, but before I do that I need to pick a headphones(5.1/7.1) for this sound card, any suggestions what is a good choice? Or what I should look at when picking. Ah, and I mainly need them for gaming.Thank you in advance.

Yes, that's right. And I want to switch simply between speakers and headphones. Only one with sound, the other mute. At the moment, when I plug in my headphones, the speakers becomes mute. That's ok, but . I always want to let my headphones connected and 2.1 when I switch sound to the speakers, the sound also comes out of the headphones. It's not possbile to mute the headphones only. There must be a way.

Hi CpTMaverick,
Do you have the Inspire T7900?
There are 4 connectors on the subwoofer, green, black, orange and grey. You will need a 4:4 cable to connect your speakers to your soundcard. Get in touch with the online store to check for availability.

• MSI x58 PRO-E SLI+Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro

Im thinking of buying a Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro for some better sound, problem is that I cant see if this is gonna fit in the top PCI-E slot because of the cooling block there.
Does anyone know if this will fit or not?
here is a pic of my current setup:
http://twitpic.com/1zvxnz

You asked if it would fit the other slot and I said it would, if the heatsink does in fact prevent you from using that slot then you can use any other available PCIe slot. A 1x PCIe card will work in any PCIe slot no matter what size the slot is.
I took a look at the pictures shot from an angle at MSI website and it does look as if it may not fit there. I also noticed that on the 1156 MB that the same HS on them have very short fins in line with that slot, makes me wonder why the 1366 MB HS is not like that.
I assume you don't have or can't borrow a card from family or friend to just test for fit in that slot?

I bought the Fatal1ty Professional Series Gaming Headset MkII about 2 weeks ago and since then, people have been telling me it looks like a talk thru a pillow. I use Teamspeak mostly and i dont know if the problem exist with the other communication programs. Its plugged into an ASUS G73 laptop. I never had that problem before with my 30$ logitech headset. I have tried playing with most settings but the problem still remains. I can hear everything perfectly but the mic just dosnt seem to work properly.
Anyone could help me with this? Thanks

• Titanium Fatal1ty digital sound encoder issues

So, I've had this Titanium Fatal1ty pro soundcard for a few years and it has always given me trouble. Simply, a few years back when I initially installed it, I had fought with achieving full DTS or Dolby digital mode, or anything greater (in signal quality) than PCM (analog mode). I eventually figured it out a few years back after repeated uninstalls, different driver versions. Problem is, I recently reinstalled my OS and now I can't get my sound card fully functioning.
So I can't get the DTS or Dolby digital indicators to light up on my reciever. I've sought the help creative offers by adjusting my sampling rate lower. Nothing. I've verified my on-board sound was disabled thru bios. I simply cannot get any digital sound flowing through my optical port. Weirdest of all, in Console launcher or creative Control panel if I cleck on the tab marked "encoder" I get the BSOD. Never fails; everytime.
I'm wondering if my encoder on the actual sound card is going bad. Then again, I've gotten BSOD screens lately even doing things unrelated to sound, especially while using Google Chrome. I'm wondering if my RAM going bad would affect the performance of my sound card.
Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi Aboisis,
You will need to contact support to enquire about that.

• Titanium Fatal1ty Pro product numbers?

I've discovered this, and I am honestly quite confused.
On Creative's official store, the Titanium Fatal1ty Pro has the SKU 70SB088600002 . Looking at my own local stores, I see a very similar code (70SB088600000), where the only difference is the last digit being 0 instead of 2. That's not all though. Some retailers also have the quite different code of 30SB088600000 . That's three SKUs, apparently for the same product. Nothing indicates that either is the champion edition (the package including a front bay). Do these differ somehow?

You can use the product page on the online store as a reference to make sure that you are not missing anything. If you are buying from an online reseller, you might want to sure they are authorised & trustworthy retailers.

Explain this to me again. Why is it not possible for me to just buy a mic to replace the broken one? I have bought 3 sound cards and three headsets prior to the Fatal1ty MkII’s from Creative Labs and have had nothing but total praise for each of them. I bought my new Fatal1ty MkII’s about a month ago for $80 and now I’m told the only way to get a new mic is to spend another $80 and get another new set. Seriously Cooler Master can send me a nut for a heatsink mounting kit, Corsair can send me a new modular connector for my PSU but you, Creative labs, refuse to help me out with getting a new mic for a very expensive headset and I’M OFFERING TO PAY FOR IT. I live and support my family paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford to shell out another $80 for a new headset, especially when the one I have now works just fine and just needs a mic. If I am forced to buy a new headset, it will not be a Creative Labs headset, which is very unfortunate since I completely love the Fatal1ty MkII’s and already miss them. A response would be greatly appreciated.

Ok getting irritated now. I get the email ok'ing the replacement for $5 + $5 to ship it and I immediately reply agreeing and asking how I should pay. Then the next email is from your rep is almost a complete contradiction from the previous. I called the support # and was basically told the same thing the last email said and to call back Monday. I 'm not calling back just to get the run-around again so can someone actually help me out with an honest and straight answer. Here's the email thread:

• Gigaworks S750 cables for the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Card?

Hey guys,
I got a nice Gigaworks S750 7.1 speaker system and want to use it with my new X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro card. The Fatal1ty pro has analog outputs for a 7.1 sound system, but the Gigaworks doesn't have the same layout. Can anyone help me find the cables I need to get this setup running?

Hi,
There are 4 Line Outs on the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro card.
Line Out 1 jack - Connects to the Front Left and Front Right inputs
Line Out 2 jack - Connects to the Side Left and Side Right inputs
Line Out 3 jack - Connects to the Front Center and Subwoofer inputs
Line Out 4 jack - Connects to the Rear Left and Rear Right inputs
You might want to refer to the user manual of the sound card and speakers system for more information.
You can still utilize the suppiled 7.1 cable. Just leave out the grey connector (side speakers) and use a single 3.5mm cable to hook up both ends.
