X-Fi Titanium series questions

Hi, all. I'm a long time supporter of Creative products and am looking for an upgrade from my old SB Li've!. I am strongly considering the X-Fi Titanium Fatalty series but have a couple of questions.
1. Can the sound card be connected to computer case headphone/mic jacksIf so, what hardware is required to do so and are they included with the card?
2. On the Champion series (the model with the headphone/mic jack module), I'm interested in automatic speaker shutoff. What I mean is, when I plug in headphones to the module, does the output to the speakers automatically turn offOr do I have to turn off my external speakers manually?
Thanks in advance for any help.

The front panel box on the Champion uses the same connector as the FP Audio does on the regular titanium. It's a standard Intel HD Audio connector (9 pins).
It in theory should do what you expect (I've got mine hooked up for that purpose) - the one small catch is a driver bug which mutes the speakers but won't un-mute them again - you'll need to reboot to get sound back.
For now, I'd say get the card, but get a USB headphone set and let Win7 do the muting for you whilst we wait for CL to fix the drivers.

  • DD/DTS SPDIF decoding on the X-Fi Titanium seri

    Hi,?
I know that this feature was just recently readded to the PCI versions of the X-Fi, i tried asking creative if this is going to be the same for the Titanium series or not, they didn't really understand the question, confused the different product lines and more.
I am wondering if this is on a driver level or hardware level, I.E. will this be possible through a future driver or mod? or should i just return my card and get the X-Fi Platinum?
    ?Thanks?

From what I've gathered from the forums, all Dolby and DTS Decoding is done in a software driver for all the Creative cards.
As of now, there is no Dolby or DTS decoding of the SPDIF input on the Titanium.
I don't know if they'll add it later or not. I've offered Creative $5 for a decoder, we'll see what happens, lol.
Some of this nonsense can be blamed on Vista, I think. There's a lot of DRM built into Vista, and I think the disabling of the SPDIF Decode is an attempt to plug some of the analog hole in DRM. In other words, they don't want you to record anything going into the SPDIF port.

  • Creative unveils the X-Fi Titanium series sound car

    quote:
Sound wave specialist, Creative has now released two new sound cards, both part of the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium series. The fresh additions, the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Professional Series and Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Champion Series both target PC gamers and make use PCI-Express x interfaces.
The two new sound cards feature Dolby Digital encoding, 24-bit audio quality and 09db SNR, X-Fi Crystalizer technology to audio algorithms to intelligently and selecti'vely determine how to restore the highs and lows from sound effects, X-Fi CMSS-3D technology, to create virtual surround sound through speakers or headphones, UAA compliance, onboard X-RAM, THX Certified surround sound and ASIO recording support.
In addition to all those above, the Champion Series package also includes an internal I/O dri've that can be placed in both 3.5 or 5.25-inch bays and offers mic-in and headphone-out connections.
Both X-Fi Titanium sound blasters will start selling this summer.

?What is the status of current X-Fi cards? support or not?

    First Impression:?
What I have seen so far, The X-fi Titanium seems to be a refresh of the X-fi emu20k soundcards, but with one extra feature, Dolby Digital Encoding, Dolby digital Li've. There are one optical out for AV receiver/decoder and one optical in for md player /consoles (for people who want their games with 5. surround sound decoded by the X-fi for the consoles. Also the version I have seen is in PCI-E X (think it's not a genuine pci-e soundcard, instead it should have a pci to pci-e bridge chip); the gameport/midiport is removed. It looks like there's also a EMI shield (don't know whether it's a real emi shield or just decoration) on the card (can't see what quality components it's used due to the emi shield). All the golden colored jack ins/outs on the older X-fi emu20k soundcards are now plastic and colored in blue, green, gray and yellow which is for me more functional/practical than the former mentioned golden golden colored, but it's less esthetic.
Also the software/applications for the X-fi Titanium remain to be the same as for the older X-fi emu20k2 soundcards (except the additional Dolbly digital encoding, Dolby Digital Li've feature).
So, if you got a X-fi EMU20k based soundcard, there's no reason to upgrade to a X-fi Titanium (ofcourse except if/when the Titanium soundcards get better support/ drivers etc. than the older X-fi soundcards), since you can mod all these older X-fi soundcards to add the Dolby digital li've feature with Daniel_K's new modified install cd for the x-fi in combination with X-fi prelude drivers.

  • Problems with x-fi titanium series.

Hello, i just got a x-fi titanium series sound card from newegg, i installed it and it was running fine with game, music, and movies, but first day i had it, i joined vent and i could all a sudden hear my voice in my headset, so i muted microphone, and it was fine, but i clicked settings in ventrilo, and it came back, so i unmuted it and then all of a sudden it went away, so it seems anytime i open vent or do anything but talk in vent, my voice can be heard in my headset, but i cant seem to be heard by anyone else. So i still have that problem, but today i started up vent, and all of a sudden my headset had a piercing loud noice in it, i did the same thing as mute and unmute the mic and it went away, any [email protected]

One more problem i seem to be having is it never saves settings, i set my mic volume to 20% and master volume to 80%, but it keeps reseting to defaults [email protected]

  • Apple Pro Training Series Question

I'm working through the apple pro series book, for those of you who are familiar with it... and have come across a questions that I cannot figure out in the book. In chapter 8 it discusses how when you add video to the timeline that includes audio they are linked together and thus selecting either video or audio will in turn select the other (audio for video and visa versa). However, this is not working for me, when I select either video or audio in the timeline it only selects that specific clip. Do I not have a setting correct or is there a difference in updates now?

Would have been nice if the book would have been able to explain that point as easily as you TYVM Actually I probably overlooked it and with a book of 500 pages its a bit like finding a needle in a haystack. Thanks again

  • Time series questions - how to do AGO function for prior year end

Question on how to perform the following calculation in OBIEE:
I need to create a time series calculation that will calculate a metric as of Dec prior year. For example, my users will select Mar 2010. I want to show the amount for Mar 10 as well as the amount for Dec 09. If the select Jun 10, I will show them the amount for that month as well as Dec 09.
Is there a way to do an AGO function that will give me this value? I can't use a filter calculation on my column because filter on the period will exclude these records

Thanks John. Your suggestions seems promising but I'm having issues when I tried it out. I am receiving the following error message:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 22046] To use AGO function, the query level ('Fiscal Period, Prior Fiscal Year End Date') must be a static level. (HY000)
What I did was create a new level off my Fiscal Time dimension which is a child of Total. I tried creating my AGO calculation using this level but received that error message in Asnwers. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

  • Time series and Order series questions

Hi Guys - Need some help in understanding/Visualizing some basic APO concepts. I do not want to move further without understanding these concepts completely. I did read sap help and couple of apo books but none gave me a complete understanding of this very basic concept.
    1. Data is stored in livecache in 3 different ways. time series, order series and atp time series. for now I am concentrating on just time series and order series. Can some one help me understand with an example how data is stored in time series and how it is stored in order series? I read that data which is not order related is called time series data and which is order related is called order series data.
My query is even in DP time series data, data is stored with respect to product and location that is transferred to snp. In SNP too data is processed with respect to product and location. so what is the difference in time series data and order series data?
    2. what are time series key figures and what are order series key figures? I read safety stock for example is a time series keyfigure. why is it not a order series key figure? what makes a keyfigure time series or order series? can some one xplain this in detail with an example or numbers?
    3. there is a stock category group in snp tab of location master LOC3. Stock category should be product related right? how is this related to location and what does this field mean in location master
Thanks a lot for your help in advance. Please let me know if I am not clear in any of the questions.

    Hi,
Time series:  Data is stored in buckets with no reference to orders.( If you place the mouse on time series data and right click for
display details , you will not find any information.
Suitable for tactical planing and aggregated planning. Usually in demand planning.
Pre requisite: 1. You need to create time series objects for the planning area.
                           2. When creating planning area you should not make any entries for the Key figure in the field Info Cube, category
                               and  category group.
                           3. When creating planning area any entry you made in the field Key figure semantics with prefixed with TS.
                               (Optional entry)
Order series: Data is stored in buckets with reference to orders.( If you place the cursor on the order series data and right click
the mouse for display details , you will find information of order details.)
                         Useful for operative planning.
*You will have real time integration with R3.
Pre requisite: 1. You need to create time series objects for the planning area.( though you are creating Order series)
2.When creating a planning area specify a category or category group or enter a key figure semantics with prefix
                            LC.
                         3. When creating planning area you should not make an entry for the key figure in the field Info cube.

THANK YOU, Daniel. It's GREAT to see that there is someone worried about X-Fi bugs, and trying to solve them.
Creative must be ashamed seeing that users must solve card problems themselves.
I've been using Sound Blaster cards since SB6, and I've got a Zen Player too, and I'm pretty sure I'll never spend a single pence in another Creative product, seeing the VERY lack of support.
CL had crossed the line with X-Fi support. Waiting almost a year for a working driver for W7 is insane. They are digging their own graves, and when nobody buy their products they'll cry and think what they do wrong:
    I'm telling you: SUPPORT
    Thanks again, Daniel.

  • Time series question

    Hi,
From the Time Series documentation, it looks ike we have to
create an IOT table in order to use time series functions (fill
    for example).
We have a table with several columns and few million rows. It is
not an IOT table. Can I apply time series functions on data
coming out of non-IOT table ?
    Thanks
    Vissu

    Hi,
If you don't have data in period table then how you can expect the values.
For more reference on time series functions look @ this OBIEE -Time Series in OBIEE
It will give you more information.

  • Comparing AGO vs TODATE - few time-series questions

    Hi All,
I just thought that someone might actually shed some light on the following situation.
I'm using AGO function for reporting CY, PY, PY-1 - etc.
So, AGO is essentially showing the value (or aggregated value) of the metrics at the same time period - and I usually use year, not months in the function.
Now, my understanding is that when I have CYTD and PYTD - I must use TODATE function. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Like if I need to show % variance over different times periods (Previous year to Current Year) and the current year data MUST be compared to the same data in the previous year. For example, if we are in January of current year, the comparison must be between Oct-Jan of current year to Oct-Jan of previous year, not the full previous year.
Here, I should probably use months' level in this situation, correct? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Is TODATE getting a current system time and date? Or Do I need to go about creating a dynamic variable Current Month?

This can be using Msum function in answers. Use the following formula, here dollars is my metric. Change the formula based on your metric.
    Msum("Sales Measures".Dollars ,2) - "Sales Measures".Dollars
the report will be cached and better performed compared with time series. check ti

  • Chart multiple series question

I have one sql query to generate a flash line chart. It generates 8 series using syntax:
    SELECT link, label, series_1_value [, series_2_value [, ...]]
    FROM ...
Is there any way to customize the line color of each series, and labels for each series? Right now, I can't tell which line is for what.
    Many thanks!

    Jerry,
I didn't know how to set the line color either. (I was searching for that exact thing when I found your post). But I puttered around and found this solution:
    1) Click the Flash Chart Link.
    2) In the Chart Setting section, change Color Scheme to Custom.
    3) Click the flashlight icon below that to pop up a color selection window, which lets you assign a color to each of your series (in order).
    4) Click the multi-colored button on each row to pop up the color selector window.
You could also make things more obvious by turning on the Legend.
    Good luck,
    Stew

  • Doctor Who: Classic Series question

How can I find out when and if more Doctor Who: The Classic Series will be uploaded for purchases to iTunes? I have purchased all of the episodes that are on there currently, but see no way to be notified when new ones are added. Any help????
    Thanks

Sorry, but there's no way to know. Apple doesn't pre-announce additions (except for limited pre-orders on albums) and there aren't any alerts for specific shows except for season passes which don't really apply to the Dr. Who Classic shows where every full story is a "season".
You'll just have to keep checking back from time to time.
    Regards.

  • PieChart Series Question

I'm working on a pie chart and I'd like to specify the
gradient fills for the series depending upon the data.
So say if one of the sections was "Cars" that would always be
blue, and if another one was "boats" that would always be red. Is
there a way to specify this?
I know how to change the colors in the series but I don't
know how to specify them for specific data elements.
    Thanks

So are you saying to always have the same number of 'pies' in
the chart in the same order and then I could specify the fills for
the specific order, and if I don't want a particular one, if the
value is 0 then it wont show up? That is what I think your getting
at, that may work, but the legend may still try and display those
    items.
For the example you displayed, that is for Flex3 right? I'm
using Flex2 right now, is there something I could do with the
    custom fill function in Flex2?
    Thanks for your Help!

  • Toshiba TL515U Series - Questions

I just bought the 47" version of this TV and it's simply amazing. I've heard about the CEVO engine a long time ago and this TV just screams quality. I freaking love it even though it's refurbished. I would like to ask a few questions though:
    1. I've read that this TV offers component video, how do I use it? I read something about a dongle but I do not have that. I would like to use component video for some of my older consoles.
    2. Does this TV offer a headphone or stereo jack? It'd be nice to use headphones or my computer speakers with the TV.
    3. I have clouding on the TV. On a black screen, at the bottom edge there's a milky effect going on and I would like to get rid of it. Is it possible to remove it with some massaging on the screen in the area when the TV's turned off?
Thanks in advance for the replies or answers!

    Something like this -
    http://www.rakuten.com/prod/cmple-3-5mm-to-3-rca-camcorder-video-audio-cable-6-ft/217497243.html?lis...
combined with 1 of these -
    http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=104&cp_id=10430&cs_id=1043009&p_id=3023&seq=1&format=2
should solve the problem. I couldn't find an original adapter cable on Toshiba's site or even the proper part #. This setup should allow you to connect using composite video as well, since the yellow (composite video) plugs in to the same jack as the audio. If you use the component video adapter and cables, you would use only the red & white plugs and cables for audio and leave the yellow cable unconnected.
Make sure you have your menu options set correctly. The posts on here about properly connectiing a Wii are legion.
