X-Fi unit issues with Win 7

I have a SB X-fi Xtreme unit in my system. It was running XPsp3 and ran just fine. Upgraded to Win 7 home premium. Now some video files have issues with the sound tracks but music seems to be okay. Itunes seems to play my music just fine (although a couple of things may be boarderline - hearing sux LOL). I can't narrow it down to any particular video type since it happens on FLV, MPG, MOV and other extensions. VLC and MS MP both show these issues. Playing stuff on Youtube and elsewhere acts up. I am running the creative 8/3 release 5.2..208. I went to the website and tried the dri've upgrade available ?but it errors out saying that it does not find a device. I also installed various codecs since I figured that might be a cause. Any help is welcome. BTW I am running 32bit.
EDIT
I have also downloaded both:
XFXA_PCDRV_LB__04_0000.exe and
XFXA_PCDRV_LB__04_0090.exe
version 0000 gives me a message that it'scould not find a?device type?error and closes
version 0090 didn't complete (I waited 5 minutes and there was no disk activity - task manager said it was working) under normal mode
I then ran 0090 under XP sp3?compatibility and got a 'driver not found' error.

CS2 is totally unsupported under Win 7. And if you have 6 gigs of RAM I'll guess that it's a 64 bit system which simply adds to the complexity.
Sorry, but the best advice you'll get is to upgrade.

    Hi,
Please refer to this KB to troubleshoot the windows firewall (error 8007042c), begin with scanning for malware.

  • Issues with Win 7 & CS2. Illustrator and Photoshop have "Stopped Working"

Hi,  New to this so I apologize in advance.  Bought a new computer in December '09. 6gig quad processor and plenty of 500gigs of disc space. NOt a Memory Issue! Installed CS2 ( 'cause the computer took all of my money!)  and all worked fine until 4 days ago.  I mainly use illustrator and photoshop. When I tried to save a document... The programs simply "Stopped Working"  I'm a rookie with the tech stuff so please speak slowly and simply....  I would appreciate any help as I'm losing money and work right now!  Thanks

CS2 is totally unsupported under Win 7. And if you have 6 gigs of RAM I'll guess that it's a 64 bit system which simply adds to the complexity.
Sorry, but the best advice you'll get is to upgrade.

  • Multicast issue with Win XP

I am wondering if anyone else has encountered Multicast problems with Windows XP.
I think I am, and believe these issues are preventing the servers in my clusters
from syncing their JNDI tree bindings.
I noticed this while configuring a JMS Server and Queues in a clustered development
environment. It is a simple cluster of 2 servers both on a single Win XP machine,
              see post 14712 in weblogic.developer.interest.jms (http://newsgroups2.bea.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=article&group=weblogic.developer.interest.jms&item=14712&utag=).
I tried the MultiCast test utility (http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/admin_ref/utils.html#1199798)
and found what I think means I have a multicast problem. Output follows:
------ Begin MultiCast test utility output: ------
              C:\bea\weblogic81\server\lib>java -cp weblogic.jar utils.MulticastTest -N server200

be sent correctly from Windows XP or from Windows Server 2003" (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;827536).
The issue appears to be limited to computers with more than one network adapter
(like I have). I am pursuing the hotfix from Microsoft, but these things take
              time.
              Anyone else having similar issues?
Any and all help is appreciated.

I am facing a problem and believe that its because of multicast too. The problem
is seen on XP but not on W2000.

  • Log in issues with Win 8.1 lap top and Android dev...

To say that I'm annoyed is an understatement.  First off was the issue that just surfaced with Skype on my laptop and PC.  I would be logged into Skype and then for no reason it would shut down, not crash but shut down as though I closed it myself.  I tried two wi-fi networks I have access to and it happened on both.  Then I installed skype on a desk top and it happened again.  Sometimes it would fire up and immediately shut down.  Eventually I found a solution on line by unlinking my windows 8 account to Skype and the problem stopped happening.  My belief is Windows forced an update on Skype that linked it to my MS account without telling me.  Thanks MS, that was really unhelpful and it took me a week to fix.
Then I have tried logging into Skype on my Android phone, 10 inch tablet and Kindle HDX.  Cannot connect to Skype, try entering some rediculously long code they email me but nada, it wont connect.  What on earth is going on here as it used to work fine before MS got hold of Skype.

Problem solved as the issue was to do with the microsoft account.  Ever since Windows 8 I've had many issues on other peoples laptops and my own just because Microsoft want you to have your Skype account linked into your windows account. Previously I've re-installed Skype from scratch in Win 7 type mode and solved the problem and with my Skype which I'd re-installed. I had to unlink it from my Microsoft account.
Clearly and unbeknown to me, Microsoft must have linked it during an update of Skype and that caused Skype to close immediately it had launched. Unchecked the link in Skype and problem solved.  Why cant MS leave things alone if they aint broke !!!!!!

  • Fingerprint scanner issue with Win 7 and Satellite Pro A300

    SORRY MODEL IS A300.
Upgraded/overlayed Vista to Windows 7 Professional and have found fingerprint scanner not working.
Unable to remove program and wont accept fresh install of fingerprint scanner or even new fingerprint to be scanned. (Old Vista program working in background somehwere?)
Is the fingerprint scanner which was installed under Vista now not compatible with WIndows 7.
There seems to be no upgrades or downloads for Fingerprint Drivers for Windows 7 as yet.

    Hi mate
To be honest I doubt that Win 7 drivers would be published for this oldie.
I mean the Satellite Pro A30 is a older series and even Vista drivers were not published for this model row
I searched on the Toshiba European driver page but I found only the W2k, Win XP drivers for this unit
So if you want to use Win 7 on this notebook, then you need to collect the drivers at your own hand and this would be the same with the fingerprint reader. Maybe the driver designed and released for other series would work.
It looks like Toshiba is in progress of driver release for different series you could take a look to the different series and could try the drivers.

  • [SOLVED] Weird pacman issue with wine

    Good Morning Community,
I'm on X86_64. I've just brought a system out of the ground from a differnt distro. Arch is up and running well.
Then when I went to install wine .....pacman is giving me a strange error. Here is a cut n paste from the terminal
    //-----------------Begin cut n pasted text
    [dcbdbis@Curly-Sr ~]$ sudo pacman -S wine
error: 'wine': could not find or read package
    [dcbdbis@Curly-Sr ~]$
//----------------- End cut n pasted text
I am using one mirror in the pacman.d/mirrorlist:
    //----------------Begin cut n pasted text
    Server = http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
//---------------- End cut n pasted text
And in using pacman to list packages, here is what I get
    //----------------Begin cut n pasted text
    [dcbdbis@Curly-Sr ~]$ sudo pacman -Sl|grep wine
    community winefish 1.3.3-9
    community winegame 0.2.0-1
    community winestuff 0.2.0-1
    community winetricks 20101222-1
    [dcbdbis@Curly-Sr ~]$
//---------------- End cut n pasted text
Google returns nothing. And I've not found it in the forums, at least the ones I've been able to read in the last three hours.
Does anyone have any idea what's happening?
Ideas on what I can do to find out what's happening?
    Help will be greatly appreciated!
    Sincerely and respectfully,
    Dave...........

  • Units issue with Formulae in queries

    Hi;
In my report, i will have to show local currency amount or document currency amount based on a flag variable set by the user in the prompt(flag 1 - local currency, flag 2 - USD).
I have created a formula with this logic -
    (flag == 1) * LC_Amt + (flag == 2)* USD_Amt
The formula shows the correct values upon execution. However, the currency is always that of the local currency even if i execute for USD. If i put the logic of USD amount first in the formula [(flag == 2) * USD_Amt + (flag == 1)* LC_Amt] , then the currency is always USD.
Please help on how i can get the currency unit corrected. It should show local currency if flag is 1 and USD if flag is 2.
    Thanks!

  • Some recurring failure issues with Win 7 OSD/ZTI during multiple device deployment

I'm currently working on a project to get rid of XP with Windows 7 ZTI using local hard link USMT. Everything is going well for the most part but I have two issues that keep coming up on a few machines.
These are my stats so far:
    580 successful with no issue
27 devices USMT loadstate errors (data is intact in C:\UserState however loadstate failed and did not complete the restore or deletion of that folder as it should:
4-5 failure during OS apply .wim step (system is no longer bootable however data is intact in C:\UserState)
A very few machines fail during the Apply OS step. On one machine since I was in front of it I saw this device had some bad sectors on the drive. I manually ran chkdsk to fix the errors and then reimaged it fine.
Since we are doing ZTI remotely we aren't in front of the device to confirm for the other 4-5 this was the same issue on them. I have built in a second attempt to apply the OS with it running chkdsk during the task sequence if it failed on the first attempt.
So far this isn't working to get around the problem on some machines.
This is the command line I'm using from WinPE if Apply OS fails the first attempt:
    cmd.exe /c "x:\windows\system32\chkdsk c: /F /R"
If it fails in WinPE I don't have the smsts.log details since we are remote at that time.
Does anyone have any further suggestions on this issue?
Second problem that I see a few every night for example if I deploy to 70 devices I will likely see about 2 with this problem. USMT loadstate failure after OS is applied. The data is intact but not restored all the way. I then have to get a tech to visit
the device, confirm data restoration and then cleanup the C:\UserState folder.
These are some of the common errors from LoadState.log:
2014-02-28 00:47:25, Error                 [0x080000] There was an error while calling CreateProfile. Error: 0x800700B7

I wish I could say the problem was fixed but I'm still having an issue on a very small percentage of machines with last nights deployment of 82 only one had the problem. It's still a very good success rate and the machine did convert to windows 7 just the
loadstate didn't complete. Data again is intact in C:\UserState until it is restored which requires manual follow up by a tech.
From the logs it fails with a domain profile not a local user account as below:

  • Wireless security compability issue with Win 7? Help!

I was able to upgrade my wireless router and reset the configuration.  However, it looks like Win 7 doesn't support WEP or any other security key......I can use wireless Internet when no security key is added.  However, my wireless internet turns into "Limited Access" when I added WEP key......any thoughts on this?
    Thanks,

As vai_fan and sabertooth has mentioned, BEFW11S4 is not compatible with Windows 7. So its time to buy a new Router. So i think this Christmas you need to gift yourself a New Router

  • Issues with wine lately..

lately, using wine with newer vst apps, I get failure messages and the apps will not load saying that a serious problem has occurred and the app needs to close...
this is what I see in the terminal:
err:ole:OLEPictureImpl_Load Failure while reading picture header (hr is 0, nread is 0).
    err:ole:OleLoadPicture IPersistStream_Load failed
    fixme:gdiplus:GdipCloneBitmapAreaI (0,0,0,0,925707,(nil),0x32fb84)
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000004 at address 0x1012200d (thread 0009), starting debugger...
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000004 in 32-bit code (0x1012200d).

Wine is sketchy with older windows apps, they have alot too work on with vista apps and i don't think they've really stayed with it much. Wine is at best a mediocre program touse for playing windows apps. If you have the CPU/Mem to spare try using virtualbox or something to run windows apps.

  • Remote Desktop Connection certification issue with Win Server 2008 R2

When connecting to Windows 2008 server R2, from Windows 7, Vista and Mac OS 10.6.7 via Remote Desktop Connection, i am getting a 'Server Name on the Certificate is Incorrect' error.
if i click connect, i can still connect to the machine, due to a 3rd party managing the server, this doesn't look very professional on my part...
The server is a standalone machine and is not currently on a domain. RDC is only used for management purposes.

    Hi,
This certificate error is normal, because your client do not trust the certificate which is installed on the terminal server. To avoid this issue,
you can export the certificate and import this certificate into the client side (computer account).
    Thanks.

  • IPhone detection issue with win 8.1

Soon after installing 8.1 Preview, the ITunes is not detecting my iPhone 5. someone advised to remove and reinstall iTunes. So I did that and iPhone was detected but when I powered off my computer and then try to connect I have the same issue.
Any tip why is this happening ?

Thanks gdgmacguy, I thought maybe Windows 8.1 Preview was a beta but wasn't sure.  A previous discussion thread (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5156214?start=0&tstart=0) recommended installing Flash Player and Java for a couple of issues.
