• Soundblaster X-fi Xtreme Audio and ALch

I bought a Soundblaster X-fi Xtreme Audio soundcard to go with my new computer as I have always used Creative and have been impressed by them. However, in Vista, my rear speakers do not seem to work. I did some research and found that ALchemy was what I needed, but I cannot get this to install. It gives me the error message that my card isnt supported. Is there any workaround for this? I feel pretty miffed having an X-Fi card and being excluded from proper sound in Vista.

There is a very good reason why it tells you your card isn't supported, that's because it isn't,?This download?is an?application for Creative Sound Blaster? X-Fi? series of audio devices. It restores 3D audio and EAX? effects for certain DirectSound?3D games in Microsoft? Windows Vista?. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.
This download supports the following audio devices only:
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro<
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi?XtremeGamer Fatalty?Pro<
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatalty<
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion Series<
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum<
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer<
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic<
?Alchemy was written to translate DirectSound3D software calls to OpenAL hardware calls, and unfortunately the Xtreme Audio doesn't have the hardware, the EMU20K2?(all that card basically is is a renamed SB Li've 24 bit/Audigy SE, neither of which have the hardware either).

• Vista 64 - X-fi Xtreme Audio and Fatal1ty headset problem

Hi All,
I bought a Xtreme Audio soundcard today, and found a problem.
When I connect my headset with the front connection on my PC -> no problem
when I connect my microphone with the front connection on my PC -> no problem, mic is working.
When I connect them both, the microphone isn't working.
To fix it, I have to disconnect my headset
Is this a known issue ?
Or is there someone who can help me ?
regards,

• X-Fi Xtreme Audio and no sound

This is really getting annoying. I had a X-Fi Fatality FPS before (which had no optical on the back), and then i bought a X-Fi Xtreme Audio.. but.. The mic just doesnt want to work. I connect the mic jack to the only input there is - where the mic icon is aswell - and.. nothing.
The mic is enabled in windows, but it sees the input as Line-In, and not microphone!
Im using this driver: XFXA_PCDRV_LB__04_0000
How do i get this working? (The mic isnt broken)

Got it fixed. The newest driver supplied by Creative, doesnt have the "Creative Console Launcher" - which means you cant switch the mode of the FlexiJack.
Good job Creative.........................

• X-Fi Xtreme Audio and optical in (win

hey, i bought an x-fi xtreme audio specifically so i could hook up my xbox to my computer speakers through my sound card via an optical cable.
I hooked everything up, but i dont see any option in audioconsole to let me have my computer recieve audio through the optical input, decode it, and output it through my speakers.
I hear theres supposed to be some sort of digital i/o tab, but there is none.
these?are the tabs?i?have?in audioconsole:
X-Fi Crystalizer | Headphone detection | performance | restore defaults | device information | speakers | eax efefcts | X-Fi CMSS-3D?
any?help?on?this?would be greatly appreciated.

i found a simple workaround for my problem.
I uninstalled all the creative drivers and software, then disabled the card from teh hardware menu. i enabled onboard sound in teh bios and installed the drivers that were on my motherboard disc, and the line in worked fine right off the bat.
im?a long?time?customer?of creative ever since my?first sound?blaster 6?and?i?would?have sworn by?all?their?products, but?the?last tow sound cards?i've gotten from them,?the?audigy?4?and?this xfi?have given?me?nothing but problems. ?now i see what theyre doing, not supporting windows xp anymore, and im?now done?with creative for good.
bye.

Driver is not working properly.
As oposed to WinXP driver (on disk) there is no console application.
In Audio Control Panel I found all necessary settings, but it seems they are not working at all (such as Crystalizer, Surround Xpand and other).
And also now I can't use Bass Redirection setting.
How I can solve this problem?
And when Creative create normal driver and applications for Win 7?

?GURU, I`m having issues with the Windows7 also in the install of Audigy2ZS. I`ve had this for three years and worked fine, yet I did a new update with the old Artificial Intelligence mother board, burt out on me. That could be it. ? Since updating the software in autoupdate for Audigy2ZS and the Windows 7 may be the issue I`m getting... • X-FI Xtreme Audio and Gigabyte motherboard - machine won't mount di

Hi,
I just bought me a nice new audio card, as the onboard card on my motherboard isn't all that (I think).
Now here's the issue; After installing the new card in the second PCI slot, thus leaving an open PCI slot between the PCI-E slot (which holds my video card) and the PIC slot I used for the audio card, when booting up the machine it won't actually load any OS (I use GRUB to multiboot). It complains about a wrong device, disk read error, and all kind of funny things. Turns out for some reason my DVD player isn't recognized anymore as far as I can tell, and this completely changes the boot order. Also, when touching the dri'ves when it's booted, I don't feel any actual activity. Booting takes a long time as well with the card inserted.
Removing the audio card and turning the onboard one back on in BIOS (or just leaving it disabled) turns everything back to normal :smileyindifferent: I've also tried assigning the card another IRQ in the BIOS, but that doesn't really change anything at all...
If anyone has any idea after looking at the below specs, please enlighten me.

I call a Philips LCD 37PFL7403D/0 with [size="">HD Natural Motion technology my own. When I turn on HD Natural Motion feature, audio and video are not in sync anymore. The Philips FAQ recommands to set the audio sync delay to 200 milliseconds (200ms).
I use a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio and I have not found any possibility to adjust the audio sync delay.

Um ... some useful data?

• X-Fi Xtreme Audio Iss

Heya guys, I did all the googling I could and I am having no luck with this one...
I picked up a new sound card from Best Buy the other day, it's a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio, and it seems nice enough, except for three little problems I'm having.
First, and most importantly, the microphone port does not work. Basically, the jack it goes in (on the back panel, more on front panel jack later in this post) is a multipurpose jack, that accepts digital i/o, and also has line in/mic mode. I've made sure my volumes are correct and have done everything I can find to do to make the mic work, but alas, there is no success. I am stumped on this one now.
Second, for audio out in the first out port (2. speaker setup), there is only sound coming out the right side. Cable is alright and speakers are alright, the sound card is just not putting out Right-Side audio. Again, I have checked balance/volume levels on this one and am having absolutely no luck. By the way, the front audio jack does the same thing as the back.
Third, the front MIC port, when plugged in, causes the sound out (front and back) to start making a bunch of noise, and it drops all of the actual sound out. There is just a lot of squealing which continues until I mute and then unmute the volume. The sound continues even after you remove the mic.
I honestly don't know what to do about these issues. What sound there is, I love. It sounds much better than onboard. But these issues are bugging me and I can find no solutions around the forums that are working.
Thanks in advance!

You'd be better off returning it and replacing it with something else completely. These issues of buggy behaviour and no support are common across all Creative products, if you change your card for another Creative card you'll just be swapping one set of issues for another which will never be resolved.

• Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio: Mic Interfere

I have an ASUS P5B-Deluxe WiFi AP motherboard which I had a few problems with to begin with and had to RMA two different boards back to eBuyer (bad memory controller & broken battery holder)
The problem is when I speak over the microphone to friends they report a train sound coming from my end. When I try recording using the built in XP sound recorder I can replicate the train sound. It sounds like bad interference/crackling. This is random though because when I stop the recording and start it again it can be fine until I restart it again. I have tried on many occasions uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and even installing older drivers. I have even tried every possible configuration within SoundMAX the tool where you configure the on board sound. I have tried various microphones including a superbeam microphone provided with the motherboard and a Logitech headset with a microphone. I have tried disabling microphone boost and muting every other sound channel expect for my left and right speaker.
I became fed up so I decided to buy a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card thinking that would be the end of my mic problems (Yes i did uninstall everything related to the on board audio from ASUS and disabled on board audio in BIOS). Last week I ditched my on board audio for a Creative X-Fi sound card from Scan.co.uk. It worked instantly out the box, I installed the drivers that were provided on the CD that came with the sound card. The auto updater then update the drivers to the latest. However up until today the problem has started with the Creative card. It started with a friend saying he could hear train like sounds coming from my mic in game and I decided to check it out with Windows sound recorded and in fact the problem has resurfaced. I can record fine up until I stop and start again. Occasionally when I restart recording the interference/high pitched noise starts, I can tell by the graphic line moving up and down without me making any sound.
For peoples viewing pleasure I saved a raw sound recording from Windows Sound Recorder tool http://rapidshare.com/files/6566423/interference.wav
I am starting to think this problem may be related to my case fans. I have them on the medium setting, 3x20mm fans and a 200mm fan on the top of my case.
Here are my system specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P5B-Deluxe WiFi
Processor: Intel E6600
Memory: 2xGB Corsair PC-6400 at 5-5-5-2
Power Supply: Corsair 520W
Case: Antec 900
Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Bump.
I am having this issue as well.
Got an eVGA nForce 680i MoBo, never had other problems with it.
This is the second problem I have with my Xtreme Audio, and should nobody have a response, I will be sending it back where it came from.
I am sick of the terrible support Creative offers. :-(

• Need help with PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio - Vista

Hi, bought this card pci exprss x-fi xtreme audio and installed, had a lot of problems in vista 64. Using a logitech z5500 5. soundsystem and first tried using the optical spdif to get DTS etc working but to no joy... Started using the 3.5 kables but nothing there either. And I cant find options to set the treble and base? the sound is really medioker as it is now.
Using the latest drivers for the card issued in may 08, latest alchemy and console files. what to do?
Dave?

To Collipa and Dudeface:
If you installed the support pack for the card but still have driver problems, have you used windowsudpate under Windows 7? Creative submitted a basic driver for the card that shows up in driver options under Windows Update. If you can let Windows Update install that driver, then you can update AFTER rebooting with the new one.
If that windowsupdate did not work, try this:
Download the newest driver for your card. Then, if you already have winace, winzip, winrar or even the free 7Zip, then you can right click that Creative executable file and then choose to........extract to......and do so to a temporary folder on your desktop or say, c:\Creative driver.
Then go to device manager and sound video and game controllers, and to your problem sound card, click driver, and update driver and browse my computer for software, and "let me pick"? and "have disk" and then browse to.......
C:\Creative driver\Install\wdm
Whereever you downlaoded the file to, the important directory is the INSTALL\WDM and choose OK and it should show Creative X-FI. Let it copy files, and it does take awhile, and then reboot and see if your sound card works.
here is the newest driver for your card:

• Xtreme Audio pricing pol

The law of Offer and Demand ...
"You get what you pay for" ...
OK, these things sound straight and of uni'versal value right?
Then why have I seen such wild price variations for the most infamous "X-Fi", the Xtreme Audio?
The full, boxed version topped at nearly Eur 70 just two months ago, more than a bulk Xtreme Gamer or even a bulk Xtreme Music. Not a price you'd associate with a "crap" soundcard, to use a certain "Super Contributors" words.
Other people reported paying anything from Eur 30 to 50 for a bulk version (at least Eur 30 is near the price of a bulk Audigy 2 SE, which makes sense since the only difference is a sticker and a CD-ROM with updated (?) drivers.
So really, what's the deal here?
Edit: current "official" pricing policy for Xtreme Audio (from Creative's own sites) seems to be $69.99 (I assume this refers to the boxed version) while for Europe it varies wildy from Eur 63.95 for Greece, Eur 66.49 (France), and Eur 69.90 for Germany, up to a round Eur 70.00 for Italy!
Apart from the now huge difference between $ and Eur ( you can't really treat them : ...), it's like paying for an Audigy 2 SE at 2x-3x the price, unless I'm missing something here.Message Edited by CreativeSkeptic on 05-09-200702:2 PM

It could be very well an example that kind of sales tactic where something evidently poorly specified is sold at a price close to or even higher than something obviously superior.
It is necessary to have both items on display, preferably near, and display the features of each (without ofc boasting that one rocks and the other sucks balls, you generally let the customer figure that part out).
Often a third, even better specified product is placed on the same display, but at a price higher than both the previous two, so if the first one was supposed to look "crappy", this one is supposed to look "too much for you".
The (intended) result is increasing the sales of the "mid tier" product, which appears much more convenient than either the "crappy" or the "too much for you" one.
I don't recall the exact name of that marketing tactic (perhaps "underdog marketing"), but it's very common in large malls and consumer electronics chains.
E.g. selling retail Xtreme Audio and bulk Xtreme Gamer for nearly the same price, while (ideally) everyone can check and compare the specs, makes the Xtreme Gamer appear much superior and more convenient, and makes the Xtreme Audio the "underdog".
Ofc, there's the twist that if people "fall for it", you can ALSO manage to sell some Xtreme Audios despite the (obvious to everyone?) poor specs (which, again, are only GENTLY hinted at, as good marketing dictates), you can make some insane profits. You're practically selling an Audigy SE at 3x the price...which probably means a much greater profit margin, while getting rid of old stock. Just brilliant
I can't really find any other, more reasonable explanation for this...
