X-Fi Xtreme Gamer FATAL1TY series mic quest

Hi, i just bought the fatalty series sound card and it sounds great. here's my issue:i have an alienware area 5 desktop... i opted for the realtek integrated sound when i bought it so i plugged my little cheapie 2. into the onboard sound and use my gaming headset plugged into the front panel on the pc. worked fine, if i was listening to music i would simply turn the volume on the headset down and listened to mp3's etc with my 2. speakers. now that i have the 2. speakers plugged into the fatalty card.... my front panel connections no longer work. the headset (with 2 mini plugs) don't work in the mic/headphone jacks on front panel. should i reinstall ac97 AS WELL AS MY soundblaster drivers.... or should is there connections to hook the wiring for the front panel ONTO my fatalty sound card ?right now, with the front panel not working, i have to unplug the 2. and plug the headset IN on the soundcard. it's just a pain to do that. my 2. has a headphone minjack... but no microphone minijack. i play a lot of multiplayer games and use teamspeak and all that so i want my headset to work. i've used a usb headset before and it was junky. it was $70 u.s. dollars and my $5 miniplug set sounds better <shock>?thanks in advance to anyone who can help. have a great day?steve

If you select line-in 2 / mic 2 using the Creative control panel, that should get your front panel working again. Another problem is the BF2 will change it to mic , so you need to get a program called Muvixer that will reset it when BF2 screws it up. It is a free program

If you are up for the battle that MIGHT transpire with either one of these cards then your welcome to it. EAX will work on games that nati'vely support EAX and the openAL API. Games that are direct sound only will require the ALchemy program to make them work correctly. You can find a list of openAL nati've games on the openAL site...sorry don't have a link for you right now but google it. You might be able to find the list of Direct SOund games that ALchemy works on by going to the ALchemy site as well.
For the most part, stuff is working but I would highly advise you do more research before purchasing any sound cards from Creative. Just check the forums and look under the Vista posts as well as here to get a taste of the issues many are having.

I just bought my X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty Pro Series and my computer randomly freezes for up to 0 seconds and I hear a single beep from my internal computer speaker after which my system goes back to normal for about 5 to 0 minutes and then it repeats the same process. I have upgraded all my drivers for my motherboard, including flashing my bios to an updated version, and I ran the creative software auto update from the website and updated the drivers and software and I'm still having the same issue. I am running a Dell XPS 400 system:?Dell DXP05 MotherboardPentium D830 Dual Core Smithfield @ 3.0Ghz2 gigs ramXFX Nvidia GeForce 7900GS 256mb Video Cardand X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty Pro Series Card?Any thoughts? I've read similar posts however none seem to be the same as my issue.

    Hi,
Did this happen right out of the box or do you own the card for some time now?

    Hi.
I just upgraded my sound card from a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS to a X-Fi Xtreme gamer fatalty professional edition card. I use Windows Vista 64 bit for my operating system and when I still had my audigy 2 zs I used the nogoatsoup drivers. Now that I have installed my new sound card I don't hear any sound. Anyone have any suggestions or recomendations?

And does your OS SEE the card? Have you tried the latest drivers? And is there "The Speakers" device in the list of sound devices?

  • X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro *not worki

I purchased the card and installed as per instructions with no joy. All i get is blue screen to blue screen. I have tried everything and it doesnt work. The worst of it is being on hold on the so called "creative support line" for 95 minutes and nobody answers. Its a disgrace. You have failed to provide a support service by telephone. So now i have to waste my time registering and typing. Specs are as follows. Sort this out. I paid good money and have so far received nothing in return.

From what I gathered from reading all of the problem threads, is that the model number changed and the ppl that have the newer models seem to not be having the problems. Like for Xtreme Music ppl that have 'MASB' in the beginning of their model seem to be the ones having the problems.Price differance between XTreme Gamer and the Fatalty one with X-ram is so low theres no point in Not getting the x-ram. Unlike the other hardware in computers, your sound card actually lasts. I had an old SB Gamer 5., back when 6bit was still around that lasted me 5 years, and got it for like $30 at the time. The fatalty one is about $30.My main concern has nothing to do with spending a little more for some thing that may not be used ( the x - ram ) but more of is it worth spending a little more for a sound card ppl Haven't been having problems with.
With respect, the MASB reference you are refering to is the 4 characters normally at the begining of the serial number.
My sound card actually has the 4 character prefix MASB, and I have had none of the issues that have previously been discussed in other threads. In my opinion, I can seriously doubt we can say which system setup will have the issues and which won't. The most probable way of testing is just to get one and try it.
For example I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 Mainboard, I have had no problems with the X-Fi Fatalty since purchase, buy my friend has the same board, but has had the previously mentioned issues.

  • X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty with Creative Gigaworks S

    Hy
I have the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty and I'm about to buy the Creative Gigaworks S750.
But first I really need to hear some opinions about it, because I really hate to buy something that I don't know if I'm going to like.
I'm asking opinions about this because I asked in other forums and almost all of them say that the Logitech Z-5500 would be a better choice. I don't know why, maybe because I have a creative's sound card, I really like more the S750.
    Please, post your opinions ...

the gigaworks s750 is a great speaker system but there are some problems with it that need to be fixed. the best way to prevent any problems is to remove the amplifiers from the subwoofer box and put them in their own box. This is a problem that is known and Creative has not made a permanent fix for. If you do not want to take apart the subwoofer box then you will most likely run into a problem with the speakers and have to send them in for warranty work if the warranty is still good. As I said before the speakers are very good and you cannot beat them for the price but there is a problem that needs to be addressed and creative has not done that so you would have to do it your self if you buy the speakers.

  • X-fi xtreme gamer fatal1ty conflict with Asus A8N SLI Premium Mobo with Nvidia nForce chip

i have had my x-fi for a few months now and ever since installing it there have been constant system hiccups, blue-screens, and performance locku
    ps.
my system was perfect running the audigy 2, but the x-fi is messing everything up.
i have read about the conflicts with the nvidia chipsets and the x-fi drivers and have yet to find a solution. i love the quality of the sound from the card but i cant deal with these issues any longer and am going to return it if there is not some sort of solution.
it seems this problem is well known and has been for quite some time, i cant understand why creative hasnt released a patch for the drivers of the card.
if anyone has any suggestions for me i would really appreciate it so i dont have to yank the card out and return it to newegg.
    thanks very much.
    -Art

In all seriousness, return the card. Do it NOW because you still have the chance to. Don't wait until it's too late.
Then after that, if you are curious why I say that, do some searches about other issues everyone is having and Creative not being very responsi've.
Search (either here or use Google for external websites) for "ha20x2k.sys" and "BSOD" (or a combination of both). "Crash" and "BF242" or even other games such as WoW and CoH - just be (pun not intended) creative.
Don't be like the others here (like myself), who own a very expensi've paper weight. Sure you can continue to use it for listening to music, but that's like buying a sports car and just being able to use the stereo.Message Edited by naddie on 04-2-200706:54 AM

  • X-fi xtreme gamer fatal1ty lacking bass in rear chann

    Hey guys,
I've been having trouble with my x-fi fatalty sound card. All my drivers are up to date, and I'm running Windows XP SP3. Somehow, the rear channels in my setup have little to no bass in them. I have a 5. headphone set that has really tinny bass in its surround when I use this soundcard. Also, I've tried plugging in speakers to the front ports and the rear ports, but the front connection is full sounding and the rear is tinny. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!

    [edit]
by the way, I use stereo surround in CMSS-3D to test this out.

AFAIK, you can even choose individual channels when using ASIO ... i.e. as mono channels.
FX channel means EAX ... you be able to add EAX effects for certain amount of ASIO output channels.
You can find some info regarding Creative ASIO drivers (though this is for Audigy series cards) from here.

  • Advantages of X-Fi Titanium over Xtreme Gamer?

I'm thinking of replacing my CL Xtreme Gamer with the X-Fi Titanium.
One reason is I want to be able to send the sound from my PC to my Onkyo receiver
And I want to try a PCI-Express sound card.
Are there any other advantages the X-Fi Titanium has over the Xtreme gamer?
    (I'm using Windows XP)
Message Edited by Tacoboy on 2-2-2008 0:07 AM

I can think of 2 advantages
    1) The ability to connect the sound card to any generic case "Intel HD Audio Front Panel", The usual X-Fi series cards are unable to make use of Audio Front panels on many PC cases such as those made by Lian-Li and Antec. The Titanium can be connected to the Front Panels for mic in and headphone out, ideal for those games that have a speaker system and also a gaming headset.
    2) PCI-Express. It is a newer interface and thus newer motherboards will have better support for PCI-Express devices than "legacy PCI devices", in fact some motherboards only include PCI slot and this slot shares it's resources with other mother board devices. Having the Titanium would mean users will not have to worry as much with IRQ or resource sharing. FYI my motherboard (P5E3) has 2 PCI slots but I can only use of them as the other one causes my system to have static on my X-Fi and BSOD's!

  • X-Fi Xtreme Gamer and Digital Surro

I have a little problem. A few weeks ago i bought the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer. It is a nice Sound Card, but now I have some trouble to get this Surround Set from Teufel ( http://www.teufel.de/de/Komplett-Systeme/Concept-E-Magnum-Digital.cfm?show=technik ) to work properly. The decoderstation is connected to the Soundcard via optical cable and Toslink connectors.
In Power DVD, if i sent the Data straight into the Decoder, everything works fine. DTS is acti've and the correct speakers are used.
But I have some trouble in normal windows mode. When I try to test the single channels (front left, center, ...) there are speaking a minimum of 2 speakers at the same time. The left speaker activates also the center, the center activates also the left and the right speaker. The test for the rear boxes also activates the front box on its side.
If I connect the set via analog connectors into the soundcard, it works fine.
Is the soundcard simply not able to solve that job, did I do something wrong or does it work, like it should? Are the better models of the X-Fi series able to handle that job or will I have the same effect there?
Just a note: Sorry, if I it sounds like english for runaways. I tried my best, to explain the issue properly and hope, that all of you could understand the problem.

There has been quite a misunderstanding of the digital output capabilities of the Creative cards going all the way back to the first cards that had a digital output. This was often the subject of a good many heated flame wars among users who felt that they should be able to just hook up that one, nice-and-easy, digital line to their SPDIF input on their home theater receiver and get 5. (or 7.) sound for all sound sources. I know, I was once one of those people myself, although I never got in a flame war over it. Instead, I got the quick realization from a Creative rep named Harvey Fong and a couple of other, knowlegeable users, who made me realize that in actuality all one really is doing by using the digital conection is saving a little time and hookup work by only needing a single cable. Much more importantly was the realization that the full fidelity, analog signals from the card would need to be highly compressed, using the lossy, 5. scheme that we've all grown to accept from DVD movies, etc. The equipment used for movies is several thousand dollars worth of DACs and ADCs that can give us the sound we get in movies. Obviously, such quality is not going to be available in ANY brand sound card for home computer use. So, by using a much more "affordable" encoder found in many other soundcards and onboard sound solutions, the resulting audio quality being deli'vered to the user is going to be of inferior quality over that obtainable by using the full fidelity analog jacks on the card. As we all (hopefully) know, when using the card to send SPDIF digital to a receiver, when playing movies on the computer with DVD software, the card's circuits are basically acting as a "passthrough" of the digital signal generated by the DVD playing software on the computer. With games, or other multichannel output, such as music using the CMSS 3D output generated by the X Fi cards, the analog outputs are necessary. This is because Creative wishes to maintain a standard of being able to produce the highest possible fidelity a card can give while keeping costs low. As we also all know, you CAN get 2 channel stereo from the SPDIF output because this is FULL FIDELITY, UNCOMPRESSED PCM digital output, and will be processed as such by your receiver. The analog jacks of course, are the same level of fidelity so one should simply bite the bullet and hook up the necessary cables for total mutichannel sound from ALL possible sources without having to make selections in a control panel to switch modes, etc. I may add that since the analog outputs are also VERY low impedence, even very long analog cables will not cause loss of signal or high frequency response to the receiver. You also do NOT need over-priced, "Monster" type cables to get full fidelity, but you have a choice there. I hope all will forgive this LONG post but hope I can clarify this for all who may read it, so that everyone will get a full understanding of why Creative Labs designs the cards the way they do, and you will not feel as if you're missing out on a feature that other sound solutions have. If you really care about, and can hear high quality audio, as I said above, hook up those analog cables to your receiver and enjoy the best audio possible with a sound card. Phil
