X-Fi XtremeGamer drivers locking up system.

Hello all,
I am having a problem with my system. I have done several clean installs. Every time I activate my sound card, it will lock up my system. It doesn't happen right away, but anything that deals with making sounds, movies, websites, etc, will have the potential to lock up my system. I have downloaded the newest drivers for my card. I have the newest drivers for my video card. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. This also causes my system to boot up slower than if the card was deactivated.

None of the soundcards from Creative are compatible with Windows 7.
They aint even compatible with Windows Vista, they need to use a workaround with the stupid Alchemy thing.
My suggestion is to do what I did, I took out my X-Fi Fatalty Pro and smashed it to thousands tiny parts with a baseball bat, and installed a soundcard from Asus. The sound quality went from average to brilliant, the crashes and system hangs are not happening anymore.
But if you really want to continue using Creative even tho they hardly do any work on new drivers anymore you can disable all special effects like X-Fi CMSS 3D, X-Fi Crystalizer and EAX, that will temporarily solve your problems but you wont get any of the ehancements the soundcard is claimed to provide.
Better jump off the boat before it sinks.

  • 845G max , VGA drivers slowdown the system

    hi, my new machine: C4 1.7G , MSI 845G max, Kingston DDR 256M , Seagate U6 40G.   Win2000 Server
    Problems:
    1.  The boot time of win2000 server is too long as more than 1 minute, it is longer than my Celeron 300A system !!! I think it's abnormal.
    2. When I have installed win2000 server, then I install the Intel VGA drivers, but after I have finished the VGA drivers installation, the system comes into slow. For example I click right button of the mouse on the desktop,  the menu poped out slowly, and when I open a window also slowly.
I have try to upgrade the bios and Intel INF , Intel VGA drivers to last version, but there are no effects.

Did you update win2000 to SP2 or SP3 and update directX8.1?
    Preferably the process will be:
    -clean install
    -SP2/3
    -intel inf
    -directx8.1b
    -VGA drivers

  • Does Toshiba lock the system at factory?

    Hi,
ok - further to my previous post trying to reinstall the OS using the recovery CDs on a replacement hdd in a Satellite A30 (I tested and eliminated the possibility of partition and gb size problems)
I have a question if Toshiba locks the system so I can't actually replace the hdd and won't be able to use the recovery CDs. I went into bios to autodetect the new hdd and the option was greyed out and couldn't be selected.
    Any experience with this? Cheers
    NJ

    Hi,
usually they are not locked, I dont know how you can imagine it, just by seeing some bios option. Did you already tried to exchange the HDD?
If no, just do it, the HDD will be recognized by the system and you would be able to use it since toshiba DOES NOT lock their systems.
I know it because I have now about 5 machines from toshiba and by every machine the HDD was replaced so I never had any problems with it.
    Greets
P.S.: And please forget the bios, you wont really need it.. :)

  • CVCs locked by system

    Hi,
I have some cases that some CVCs are locked by the system BTC_SYS_APO. What does this mean, and how to bypass this error? Even  after running the job again, I am facing the same kind of issue.
    Regards,
    Guru Charan.

You can go to SM12 and unlock the respective CVC. I think BTC_SYS_APO is user id which is locking the system while you are executing some jobs. Please cross check if you some parallel jobs are running at the same time, which are locking these CVCs.
    Hi Amol,
First, thanks for your immediate response. BTC_SYS_APO is not a usre ID, and there are no paralled jobs running on the same planning area at that time. Anything more from your side which might be helpful?
    Regards,
    Guru Charan.

  • Sp2 locks up system.....

I have a P4-3C system with the msi 6728 mobo and 1 gb of kingston value ram running with a ati 9800pro card.  I am running dx9c and ati drivers 4.8.  I installed sp2 on my system and after about 2 weeks of work the computer would freeze at the blue scrolling bar part of the screen.  I finally had to wipe my drive and build a fresh install, thinking that it was a problem that had accumulated over my 7 months of use.  So I started again being very clareful to install sp1+2 first, using the firewall before attaching to the internet.  Updating all board drivers, then directx9c and then ati drivers.  Everything went smooth and I installed all my apps without a hitch.  After two days of work, my system froze again.....same thing.....locking at the startup screen.......
Does sp2 really have a problem with my setup?......
PS - I have no hardware conflicts.....and the system worked great for the first 8 months......

I had a problem with a system hang (invalid partition message) after installing SP2.  This fixed my problem:
